Fraudulent chain that tells people they have more issues than they really do. I made an appointment because I needed a cleaning in between travels. They forced me to take X-rays even though I provided X-rays from 6 months ago. They told me I have gingivitis, a host of other gum issues and that I couldn't get a standard "healthy mouth" cleaning, and that I need another, more expensive cleaning. No other dentist office that I've ever been to has had more than 1 type of cleaning. I said no I want standard and they refused to provide one. Went to another dentist the next day and they told me I was totally fine. They use a lot of medical terms to try and create fear. I had a generally normal visit here, but one thing really bothered me. The hygienist discussed the condition of my teeth loudly in an open treatment area separated only by dividers. Because of the volume and layout, other patients nearby could clearly hear personal health information. I understand dental offices aren't always private rooms, but lowering voices and being discreet goes a long way toward respecting patient privacy and comfort. It was uncomfortable and avoidable. Sunnyvale location is TRASH! I called and spoke to a secretary about braces. That's all I wanted. She said their office has to do the dental exam first, but my son will see the orthodontist side SAME DAY, talk about cost and have braces applied SAME DAY! She told me they wld verify insurance before the appnt. 3 weeks later we walk into the appnt and the secretary says "We have to verify insurance. If we don't get the fax back in time, worst case scenario is you pay $59." WHAT???? My son has his exam. No cavities. The secretary tells us the cost and she will see if the ortho can get us in. First walked in, waiting patiently in line to check in for my appointment. No acknowledgment whatsoever, I started my timer it took them 8:43 minutes to even say a word, and the two young ladies were not talking over the phone. Once in, they moved room 2 times, before any service was done. I sat down for a couple seconds and then proceeded to change rooms, and then back to the original because the assistant made mistake. The coffin in the nail was the part they give a price of the cost of your service but actually they will raise that price because "it was only an estimate on how much insurance would pay". Trust me I have the printed paper that states exactly what insurance would be responsible not an "estimate" RUN FROM THIS PLACE. Within the past two years, I have changed dentist quite frequently due to the lack of customer service. I just had a deep cleaning today at the uptown office, and I have to say this was the best service I have ever received. They stole my money. I went in for Invisalign around March last year and put down just under half of the total treatment cost. They never called me to let me know my first set was ready. Then when I moved out of state in May and tried to get a refund, they kept stringing me along. It's now been over a year. I decided to give Ideal Dental a chance and I will never make that mistake again. I went in for a simple cleaning. They took an absurd amount of X-rays without even asking me if it was okay. More X Rays than my insurance would even cover. They then put this gigantic photo of my teeth on the tv in front of my chair. The hygienist says oh that looks like a cavity you'll need to get filled. She then proceeds to clean my teeth after this while I'm panicking the whole time. I've never had a cavity before and honestly I have amazing teeth and excellent dental hygiene. Every dentist I have ever gone to has complimented me on it. Then I go here and have a hygienist tell me that my gums are awful and I have a cavity and I'm at risk for gingivitis unless I get a deep cleaning right away. Was literally crying in the chair. The dentist comes in and tells me I have beautiful teeth and that the dark spot the hygienist thought she saw was nothing more than a sealant stain from my many years of braces. Kind of concerning for a hygienist to not know what a cavity looks like but also I'm convinced they tell everyone they need a deep cleaning as some sort of scheme to make more money. Overall even with dental insurance I paid several hundred dollars out of pocket for my "simple cleaning" and billion unnecessary X rays. I guess this is what I get for not going to a family dentist. This is not a reputable business and they take advantage of patients who have PPO insurance to "upsell" and add unnecessary deep cleanings and x-rays that they are well aware insurance will not cover (my young adult son visited and is still under our family medical insurance). I had an appointment for a regular cleaning. My hygienist was training someone on me during my first appointment. When I was getting my X-rays done, she kept tapping the machine on my mouth for every photo. Every hygienist I've had before never tapped my mouth to take a photo but she did and it was uncomfortable. Then they said they had to do a special "deep clean" that would cost $250 and I had to pay that day. I've never had to pay out of pocket for a cleaning since my insurance covers it. I asked for just the basic cleaning that's in my insurance plan and they denied. So I walked out. The X-rays took over an hour and I didn't even get a cleaning. Next visit i had was an emergency. i paid about $1000 and was told this would only take a few weeks 3 at the most. well as of today it took all of 2 months which is about 8 weeks. It is a good place. The doctors are very professional and the representatives are friendly and helpful. I got my wisdom teeth pulled last month and it was a great experience. I just lay there for 40min and when I woke up I was already in the car. Many thanks to the dentist and the male front staff who helped on Dec 22nd, 12pm. I also got my teeth cleaned today and the doctor was nice. BUT the assistant named Martin was acting really bad. He was talking to someone else and not looking at my mouth when he was scanning my teeth. He almost stuck the scanner to my throat until I moved his hand away my month. After that, he spoke some Spanish to the girl in another room. Not sure what he's talking about but felt like he's talking about me. Also my teeth are still hurting from wisdom teeth pulled and he knew that, but he didn't pay attention and made my teeth hurt. I thought they bled again! He was supposed to show me the scan report, but he didn't. I don't know how did he got this job since he didn't have any professional skills and behavior. I came here for a partial and 3 crowns. The bill was 4K after their insurance plan purchase. He shaved down the tooth for one of my crowns too much that he could not get a temp to stay on or the actual crown after waiting 2 weeks for it to come in and then still charged me anyway! Now he says I have to get the tooth extracted because he messed up and it's going to cost now more than the crown was just to pull it. Not to mention it was the last molar left on that whole side so the partial will not have a tooth to secure to anymore and it compromised my bite since once it's pulled there are none left on the top. I had a root canal years ago at another ideal dental and at this location a dentist told me it needed to be redone. I brought up that it should be covered for free under 5 years. They call the other office and come back and tell me that yeah it's within the year but won't tell me which month to actually know if it's been 5 years or not. I asked which month and she said they couldn't find that info. So basically they can find the year I had it done but because it was close to being 5 years they just wouldn't tell me the month so I'd have to pay for it. I've also been waiting MONTHS for $30 they owe me for a small treatment they forgot to do but get a email at least twice a month saying I owe 14 dollars. This dentist will try to scam you into unnecessary procedures and fees! I take good care of my dental hygiene and I go to the dentist frequently, but I haven't been since before COVID. I recently moved to Dallas and was looking for a new dentist. The hygienist was polite and said everything looked great and didn't see any problems. When the dentist came in, he told me that my dental hygiene was extremely poor and it looked like I hadn't been to the dentist in years. The way that he talked to me about my hygiene was condescending and unexpected because I have never had dental problems in the past. When he looked at my gums, there were only a few very small areas were below average. He told me that I needed to get a major cleaning because a regular cleaning wouldn't be good enough for the shape my gums were in. This procedure (with insurance) would cost $400 plus more potential fees once he started. Knowing my dental history, this didn't sit right with me. I looked at Yelp reviews and saw many similar reviews to my experience. I booked an appointment at a different dentist, and the new dentist gave me a regular cleaning and told me that my gums looked just like they expected with no need for any extra medical necessities. If I could give no stars I would. I do not recommend this place whatsoever. Went in yesterday for exam, x-ray, deep cleaning with possible extraction. When they brought me the breakdown of what services would be, I noticed they overinflated services, were trying to charge me for things not discussed. The financial counselor who brought me the breakdown could not explain what services were and explain the price breakdown. Truly incompetent. I was told by the dentist and hygienist that I would be getting my cleaning done and at least the possible extraction on the left side. When I told them I wasn't going to sign off on any services until the breakdown was explain, they rushed me out my chair and told me that they couldn't do the cleaning or extractions. So when I questioned them, no one could give me a straight answer as to why the appointment I schedule was now being reschedule. the office manager who was unprofessional and rude stated that they didn't have time to do the cleaning because of the appointment after mine coming in. When I informed her that I specifically made my appointment 3wks prior to include all the services I mentioned and them overbooking was not my responsibility or fault she became even more rude. Mind you I had already been there for 2hrs by this point and was upset. How do you set an appointment and then tell the customer you can't do the services they were more than willing to do same day before I asked for an explanation of fees explained. I walked out of this office highly upset and I will be reaching out to friend's who work with the local news stations about this. They are highly unprofessional. Had they just explained what they were charging me for in the first place, I would have had no problem handing them my credit card for services but you are not just going to bring me a list of things and not explain the what exactly you are charging me for. Ideal dental seems nice and well. But when you go and get a 2nd opinion is where you realize they try to royally screw you by telling you you need services that aren't truly necessary. My cleanings were said to need a special antibiotic that was NOT covered by insurance. Only after calling them the day after and confronting them about it do they tell me it actually wasn't necessary just speeds up recovery time. Also they tried telling me I need a crown put in, and lots of fillings worked on in addition to that, they recommended that I was in dire need a full deep cleaning of top and bottom. NONE of these were the case. My 2nd opinion dentist actually laughed when I told him they billed me for the special antibiotic. Feels great to get screwed! Save your money, don't get fooled into thinking oh they have plenty of offices why would they try to Nickel and dime people, but alas, as most chains do, they do indeed try to squeeze people for every dollar. I was about to be coerced into spend $2000 out of pocket on services I truly didn't need. This is unacceptable for a medical practice of any kind. I will be reporting them to Texas state dental board (formal complaint) Health insurers for charging services unnecessarily and also a BBB complaint. These guys are crooks. Stay away! read more

AVOID. Terrible experience. I came in because I'm traveling for work and my permanent retainer broke. After telling me they did orthodontics I got there and they said they don't. Then they said they had an ortho who comes in a couple days a week. They agreed to take impressions and get me a replacement the next week. After that I never heard from them again. I contacted them and asked what was going on the end of the following week. First they had no idea who I was. Then when they did finally find my record they told me it would be 3 weeks to get a replacement. This is when I realized hey had ALREADY BILLED ME. I asked for a refund and said I didn't want the work done since they appeared dishonest and disorganized. They said they had to talk to someone more senior and would call me back. They then proceeded to call me back and say that did have it. I did not believe that given their track record of previous conversations and still requested a refund. I can't say overstate how happy I am with the treatment I received from Dr. Mugianto. I had what is basically a complete reconstruction of my upper and lower teeth. We put crowns and/or bridges on almost every tooth. My smile is completely different and my bite is the way it should be. When I had issues with the temporary crowns, the staff was able to get me in to see the doctor ASAP and everything was made good to go. Update- I FINALLY went in today to get the second realignment for my never ending Invisalign treatment and they BURNT my lip. They got the adhesive chemical on my lip and didn't do anything until I stopped them because it was burning. Then they just wiped it with water and kept doing what they were doing. I now have a chemical burn on the left side of my lip that is scabbing. They will not do anything to make this right for me. RUN from this dental office. read more
