Unassuming place from the outside but make sure you go. Great neighborhood place! Sit at the bar and just order whatever your bartender recommends. You won't be disappointed. Appetizers and entrees are hearty. The pork crunch sandwich, burgers and liver & onions (for liver lovers) are the bomb. Down home cooking and great service. I love their rotating seasonal menu, I had one of the best shrimp etouffe here a few years ago and I still think about it to this day. My grandparents used to go on dates here and apparently the ambience is still the same, it's nice and cozy and I loved the service and the food. I highly recommend. read more

This is currently one of my top 10 places. I have never had a bad meal here. When I haven't eaten here in a couple of months I get cravings. Simply the longevity of this restaurant go to show the quality and is a testament to consistent awesomeness. I have my staples, sauerkraut balls, 2 of the most delicious pork chops Montreal style. If you order a meal To Go- DON'T! I have dined in many times and the food has been pretty good. Not outstanding but good for a local diner. However- recently I ordered To Go meals because I was staying in the area and it was a ten minute walk. All three meals- two meals with each order- have been screwed up. Some cold. Some missing their protein. I ordered a salmon salad and a grilled chicken salad. Walked down and got them. Made it the ten minutes back to find out the protein was gone. I called. The said I can either come back or they would take $3 bucks off my bill for each salad. I walked back and got the proteins and the handed the bag of protein and said "sorry. It happens sometime". Another take out meal was missing the fries. Called and was offered the same thing- come back. I don't think I will be back for a LONG time. I can only take so many screw ups. read more

After driving past this dining gem on S Main for years, wondering if we'd enjoy the place, we stopped in this past Saturday at around 4PM to get a late afternoon meal. We were seated almost immediately in a spotless booth with soft lighting, provided menus with an endless array of offerings, and asked for our beverage order. Suffice it to say we were impressed by the immediate service given to us by Felicia, and her ability to make us feel welcomed! The bleucheese burger we shared was perfect, French fries were very hot and crispy, and the house salad was accompanied by two house-made dressings, a creamy white French and a balsamic...both were outstanding, and the servings were enough to provide dipping sauces for the fries. We believe we have found the neighborhood tavern we've been seeking since moving to Akron in 2018! Sure, the burger prices were a bit high, but in keeping with the disastrous economic times. Super neighborhood spot for dining, libations, and tv viewing. And the friendly staff is the icing on the cake, actually on the incredibly sinfully deeelicious bread pudding! read more

Food is pricey but worth it. Few places I'll pay more than $10 for a burger but theirs is worth it. We'll go back again for sure

Love this little bar & grill - my fellow, his aunt & I stopped by this Akron long-standing pub. I thought the food was very good - I had a burger and it was very tasty. The service was prompt and down to earth. No fancy shmancy, I'm you're new best friend deal. An efficient server took our order, brought our food & refreshed our waters and beverages as needed. This is a down-home pub and the food is quite good. She didn't seem unhappy or unfriendly, just took care of business. I did consider a triumph when my silly husband got a wry comment and grin from her! I loved going there because it was one of my husband's teenage haunts (let's just say that was decades ago!) The bar area is just right for lunch - and the main dining room is a delightful step in the past with its colorful padded booths. It was one of the best meals I had in Akron - but it was all about the memories and history for us. read more

We were looking for a good burger place and we stumbled on this place. Stopped at an odd hour, not lunch not dinner. We ordered the sauerkraut balls and stuffed hot peppers for appetizers. They were both very good and plenty to share between 3 people. We ordered burgers and they were excellent! The one burger had fried onion sticks, yum. The burgers were plump and juicy and too big to have everything in one bite. We were pretty full after all that but Kaylee, our very nice server, said that they make a homemade apple dumpling. So we gave it a try. It was amazing! The pie crust was so flaky, the apple slices were cooked just right, just enough cinnamon, super hot in a small clay pot, 2 scoops of ice cream on top and the whole thing is sitting in a pool of delicious caramel sauce. Doesn't get any better than that. Definitely recommend the food and this outstanding dessert! read more

It was my father's birthday and he wanted to go somewhere else so we made reservations drove there and they where out of prime rib ,so he said he wanted to Ido's.It was Saturday night the place was busy,he and I ordered the prime rib my mom filet,and my girlfriend got the firecracker shimp.The waitress was nice and food came out fast I thought for as busy as it was. Now onto the food all I can say was everything we ordered was absolutely amazing.The prime rib was some of the best I've ever ate.While other tables were being served I'd glance over at the food and everything made my mouth water.I will definitely be back to try other food. read more

Last night was our first visit, and it was fantastic. The outside is so unassuming that we had no idea of what to expect. We were pleasantly surprised. I had the Drunken Seafood that had shrimp, sea scallops, and big chunks of fish tossed in a vodka cream sauce. Absolutely delicious! The portion was large so I brought half home with me. My husband had had the famous IDO burger, a salad, and side of onion rings. He said it was one of the best burgers he has ever eaten. Our server was friendly and efficient. The owner is clueless in training staff. The bartender was good. But when we were seated 10-15 minutes and not one waitress acknowledge we were even there. Understand it may take time but a simple "i'll be with you soon" goes a long way. My big mistake was asking the hostess to send over our waitress. More time passed and no one showed. So we got up and left. The hostess wished us a nice evening but i had to remind her that no one ever came. Attention to detail is not her strong suit. So if you like staring at the walls, praying for someone to take your order, this is the place to spend your money. read more

I want to start this post w the idea that I'm local, and resort to the Ido often. Also want to say I always sit at the bar and often alone. I've officially had enough. I've done everything I can think of to get what I want food wise legit down to what I simply order. Bartender is always over worked. I don't ask for small talk outside of a norm, but seriously first drink initial order of a side salad good. Second drink bad, and entree always get it wrong. A simple cheese substitute or onion rings instead of fries is forgotten, and they just improvise. Go enjoy just know you need to cater to their wait staff. Don't expect good service just work w them so you can get a version of their delicious food! I have always tipped well never made my self a trouble. Hence my point. Don't expect more then they can offer. Foods great over priced, but great! Ultimately up to you. read more

I love fried pickles. If a menu has them listed, I will try them. I've traveled a lot, and have eaten a lot...but the Ido has my favorite fried pickles. The breading is perfectly crunchy, and the ranch peppercorn dressing that they serve with the pickles is to die for. Their burgers are great, but i've noticed that they're not consistently great. I love the Ido burger, which is with mushrooms and onions. I love mushrooms, and the Ido never skimps. The waitresses are also hit or miss. There's an older woman with blonde hair who I absolutely adore. She's worked there so long that I think they may have built the restaurant around her. On my last visit, I had a different waitress, and she couldn't be bothered to refill drinks, bring us condiments, or really do much else. read more

I have been a fan of the Ido Bar & Grill in Firestone Park Ohio for many, many years, even before my friends, Steve and Marcy Baker bought it in 1998. They both had many years of experience at another fabulous restaurant in Firestone Park named Guy's. When Guy's changed their format from a restaurant to party center and catering, Steve, the chef, and Marcy, the hostess manager, took a big step and bought the Ido Bar & Grill. It had changed hands several times from it's glory days into bad versions of a neighborhood bar. Gone were the menu items that had made the Ido Bar & Grill famous, not only in Firestone Park but all over the Akron Ohio area. Steve and Marcy did not waste any time as the food was awesome from opening night. Back was the Famous "oozing" Ido Burger, giant chef's salad, chicken diablo (my wifes favorite) and the Hungarian sausage. Steve did not stop there, however. He was known for his steaks at Guy's and he did not disappoint at the Ido Bar & Grill. Steak to die for; huge Louisiana Rib Eye, Swiss steak and large filets that melt in your mouth. And do you want to know a secret? Don't pass on the 2 huge pork chops basted in your favorite seasoning, oh my! read more
