Might be tempted to give it a second chance but it'll be awhile. We both got a meal and a drink and it came to $35 so already not off to a great start. There were only 2 other people eating inside but it took 40 minutes to get our food. A lot, a lot of to go orders, but still, expected some kind of priority for dine in. The cashier and the woman who brought our food said a quick apology , but that was about it. My wife didn't finish her food, took it home just to toss it out. She got the Italian sub and pickle fries. The sub was incredible dry according to her. I took a bite and thought it was extremely lackluster for the price point. It definitely could have used mayo, oil, vinegar, etc though. The pickle fries were okay, very crunchy but decent flavor. I got a specialty menu item that was a 1/2 pound burger with various toppings and fries. There were so many fries I could barely see my sandwich. However, the fries were cold, despite the long wait... and unseasoned entirely. They reminded me of fair fries which isn't the end of the world but some salt would have been nice. The burger was very good and I enjoyed it, my wife also liked it but unfortunately that didn't make up for 3/4 of our order not being very good and taking a long time. Also a note that it is VERY loud inside. Phone ringing off the hook. Clanking of the spatulas on the grill. Some games next to the booths. Definitely not a quiet place. We were very disappointed with this visit and hope next time is better, if there is one.

25 years of waiting and just disappointment…read more Nice warm day out, and me and my mom decided to go get something to eat for lunch. We hadn't been here before, but she has been waiting 25 years to come here. She has lived in Akron for all her life, and Kenmore for 10 of those. The bread was soggy, the ingredients were not quality whatsoever, it even looks like they cooked the sandwich with the lettuce on it. The pickles, the only thing free with this expensive meal, were soggy. We paid $41 for this meal for just utter disappointment. Not only that, but these are MAGA Trumpers, displayed everywhere, which is embarrassing in a town with such diversity as Kenmore has. Most of your customers are black, so this is just insulting.

Price seemed in-line with other places, staff was particularly nice. People mentioned MAGA stuff (huge RED flag for me) and I DID see a Trump/Vance sticker (wtf?) but I also saw a Biden/Harris sticker. So if you are reading this Ms. Primo...how about: no stickers? I don't want to ruin my appetite thinking about Trump. That being said, the sandwich was the best sandwich I have eaten in Ohio. I will return and get some weird thing when I go back. Building was old a full of knick-knacks. They seemed to sell retail beer, but the selection wasn't amazing but they had some interesting stuff.

Servers that were there moved on to other employment opportunities. People grow older, for some retirement is in their sights, sadly for some retirement is not by their own choosing by whatever circumstances. Some small establishments are passed to family member that will with all heart keep that business going and thriving. Some Proprietors have no one to pass their legacy to, and others pass it along with hopes and expectations that do not come to fuision. When someone takes over a small business their goal is sometimes not to make changes too quickly then to the detriment of the business some want to quickly make changes. Some changes chase people away. Hodges Cafe had a glorious heyday. Hodge was always a friendly face ready for nice conversation or life advise. The Hodge Burger was award winning in this area; people still crave them. Friday nights were great for a Hodge Burger then walk it off with a walk to the theatre for a movie (now closed) then walk back to Hodges for beers. Sad that most of the neighborhood establishments are gone now. Barberton had quite a few neighborhood places that could be safely walked to from home. It seems to now be a rarity that people can pass along anything and expect the recipient to love it with as much heart as the giver. Your public misses you Hodge.
