This neighborhood dive on S. Main is an unexpected pleasure. It looks pretty dicey from the outside. There are no windows so you don't know what you're in for until you enter. Once inside it's a friendly local watering hole. There is always a couple of guys downing beers at the bar at noon on a weekday. The waitresses seem to know everybody. I think a lot of the customers have been drinking here since they were 15. They have more home style bar fare. Open face turkey or roast beef with gravy, meatloaf...tons of burgers, sandwiches and wraps. The fish fry on Fridays is one of my favorites in the area. The best special of the week is 1/2 price burgers on Wednesdays. If you go at the wrong time you'll wait in line. The food is generally good and the service is highly variable from pathetic to fairly good, never excellent. The beer is varied but is priced *well* above the competition. This place is a GEM. From the outside it doesn't look like much but the dining area is 5 stars. My wife and I, and a close friend who also takes in 4 of our cats whenever we go away and who lives right around the corner, had a great dinner and left stuffed to the gills. Our friend actually suggested this place and if you know me, you know I hate to try a new place to eat if I never heard of it. Boy was I concerned for nothing. The food was great, the service was great, and the prices are very reasonable. The appetizer was brought out to us like 3 minutes after we ordered it. The bread they give you is so good, you could just eat that for dinner and call it a night. But of course then you'd be missing out on some awesome cuisine. Check this place out. It'll be worth it. I wish I could give it a zero. I went to met a large group of family for dinner. We meet monthly and had to find a new place after our original spot closed. I had been here before and had great meals. This time I brought my kids. My oldest has a severe nut allergy. I glanced over the menu when we got there and noticed that on the regular menu there were many items on the menu with nuts. The waitress came to the table and asked me what we wanted to drink. I told her that my son had a nut allergy and that i would like a kids menu to look at before I ordered anything and asked her if she knew what type of cooking oil they used. Her reply was "I have all these tables and you are going to ask questions? I don't know what it is?" She came back to the table but never said anything to me. She brought everyone in the group their drinks (even some late arrivals) and took everyone else's orders. She never said another word to me. Completely ignored us. Which seems to be a common occurrence at this establishment if you read the reviews. After 30 minutes I got up and told everyone in my group I was leaving. They all had ordered their dinner and were drinking their drinks. I never even saw the kids menu... Never. We sat there for 30 minutes! Who does that to kids? She decided she just wasn't going to deal with it.. She was a little blond lady with glasses. You better hope if they're busy she isn't your waitress. I've been here for lunch a couple times and on the second visit, I noticed they served prime rib on Fridays and Saturdays. My buddies and I have a thing for prime rib so we make it a point to check out as many places as we can that we know serve it. Since I've been here for lunch a few times, I was quite familiar with the layout and the feel of the place. I thought in the evening there would be more younger folks, but it was jam packed with old folks which was kind of surprising. My buddies ordered the 16oz and I ordered the 8oz with scampies. Price wise, I feel they are on the higher end compared to other places we've been. Without knowing how good or bad it would be, we all gave it a chance. Service was good so no complaints there. The food though, it was only mediocre. My scampies were fine but the prime rib left a lot to be desired. I'm not sure if they actually take the time to make the prime rib or take the shortcut, but I feel it was way over priced for the size and quality. We all agreed it's not something we would make plans to visit again but who knows. read more

I have always liked Ido's and eaten there on a regular basis since moving to the area a few years ago. This weekend, the waitress brought me the wrong order, a more expensive order than what I had ordered. The waitress actually noticed the order was wrong when she brought it to the table, and offered to have the kitchen remake it, but in the interest of time I just ate what she brought out. When our bill came, we were charged for the dish that she brought out, the one that I didn't actually order!!! For Ido's to make an extra $5 off our meal with this bait and switch, we will not be returning and would not recommend. read more

We tried out this place due to Yelp reviews. We went on a Wednesday which is half-price burger day - anything with burger in it is half-priced. This is good for your wallet, but also resulted in a very long wait time for lunch. We got lucky finding a table and then lunch turned out to be over an hour for burgers. The food itself was pretty good - I had the double-stacked mushroom/swiss burger (they call it something else) which was large and decent, but I've had better. Fries/chips are standard, you can sub with canned green beans for a little more. Overall, it was good to save money to go out to lunch, but the wait time wasn't worth saving a few bucks. The food was decent. Based on other reviews, I'd maybe give it another shot on a non-Wednesday if it isn't so busy, and try something other than a burger. read more

I've had lunch and dinners here several times, including dinner yesterday, Wednesday at 5:30. Gotta start with the bread. It's crusty and delicious and served with butter you can spread without ripping the bread into shreds. Stuffed Pepper soup is excellent with just right amount of salt for flavor, House salad pretty standard and house Italian dressing was very good. Kate's Cobb salad (Ido Specialty) is excellent. My meatloaf was moist and tasty. It held together well without crumbling. My friend had the pork chop - nicely cooked and tasty. Green beans not overcooked. You need to try the Ido Home Fries, thin sliced potatoes, pan fried with onions and peppers - enough to share. I've had steaks here in the past. All have been very good with exception of one ribeye that was just a bad cut. They quickly served me a new one. Service has always been friendly and prompt. The food is good but the waitress is another story. Older lady on the bar side had a major attitude problem. Complained right off the bat that of course the table we choose to sit at was the only unclean one. Then proceeded to shake her head in disgust. Tried to lighten her mood by smiling at her and got a glare from hell. She did manage though to get our order in a rushed fashion and then before we had finished our meal she promptly put our check on the table. Was going to order desert but she was not having it. No thank you no anything else just her I hate my job attitude. We did however leave her a generous tip. Working in Akron is truly a good thing with the Ido Bar and Grill right down the street. The Ido has excellent burgers and salads for lunch. They're daily specials, with homemade soups are always tasty and inexpensive. I have not had an opportunity to eat Dinner at the Ido, but would do so in a heartbeat if I didn't live in Cleveland. I ordered the pulled pork sliders for lunch pick-up. I got there and paid at the bar. The server said that that was my order right there on the bar. Not in the back, staying warm. Just on the counter. Who knows how long it had been there? Got back to work to eat and the menu says that the sliders have pulled pork, onion straws and cheddar cheese with BBQ sauce on the side. There was no BBQ sauce on the side and my sliders didn't have cheddar cheese, but it did have cole slaw. I don't care for cole slaw. If it had said that on the menu, I would have told them to hold the cole slaw. Overall, the food was okay. The pulled pork, slaw and onion straws were just kind of thrown on the buns. It was almost as if the buns were set down in the tray and the food was slapped on top of it. It was just a mess of food. Doubt I will order there for lunch again. read more
