The food and service were both great! Got a couple of rolls, miso soup, and seaweed salad. The Hawaiian/Japanese take on each dish gave everything a unique flavor. Definitely a hidden gem on the west side. + 1 for plenty of street parking. Cheers.

Went here for dinner on a Saturday evening didn't have any wait time, but seems like people started to roll in and get really busy late in the evening. They have a good selection of sushi and sashimi items and thought everything was really well organized. Staff is very friendly and brought food out quick. Edamame was just ok, but the sushi was solid. Definitely thinking of coming back if I'm in the area. They offer combos for a very decent price so maybe I'll get that instead of individual roles next time.

I wanted to try a new sushi/ramen place, & I'm so happy I found this restaurant. It's family owned business They don't have a parking lot so you'll have to street park. It seems like they have small indoor seating & possible outdoor seating. Absolutely loved the aesthetic of the restaurant very cute and decorative as you can see in my photos. If I'm not mistaken the host did tell me it's Japanese/Hawaiian food. Unfortunately they didn't have ramen when we came in due to high cost & more etc. The workers were super friendly & attentive. You get seated & order through the tablet. Once you order, it gets sent to the kitchen. We got our food served quick. Everything was delicious and fresh. I recommend passing by, it won't disappoint. Definitely coming back.

Such a cozy, cute environment for some very stellar rolls! All the sauces were paired extremely well and the fish was very fresh. Clearly the owner and staff have put so much effort and love into this place :)

This spot is so cute. The fish is very fresh and their portions are generous. The rolls are creative and super sauced. I really enjoyed the Salmon Lavah. I can't wait to come back and try the other rolls.

This small business is so cute! Immediately loved the Hawaiian vibes and decor. The sushi was absolutely delicious! We got one of the combos which was a good deal for 2 people. The rolls are a great size and I would definitely come again.

I really liked: Salmon Lavah Roll Hiyako Tofu Kyoto Yellowtail I liked: OMG crunch This was ok: Original Brulee Roll The tofu was unexpectedly one of my favorites of the night. Silky, cold, and paired with a sauce that was excellent. The Salmon Lavah Roll and Kyoto Yellowtail both had that savory freshness with a little kick that keeps each bite interesting. The fish quality felt fresh, and the flavors felt intentional rather than just spicy for the sake of it. The OMG Crunch was solid too. Crunchy, satisfying, and exactly what you expect when you order it. The Original Brulee Roll was interesting and creative, but I found myself wishing the top had more of that satisfying crispy crackly brulee finish. Still good, but maybe not a go-to for me next time. Overall, great lineup of #goodeats. Service is pretty standard. The ambiance is actually charming, especially being such a small LA spot. They decorated it thoughtfully with Hawaiian-style touches, and even though the tables are on the smaller side, I never felt cramped or uncomfortable. Cozy, fresh, and memorable without trying too hard.

A nice find near Helms Bakery in Culver City. It was recommend to me by Gabriel at nearby The Mestizo. It is a comfortable family style Hawaiian-Japanese place with a small table top kiosk to order your entrees, combos, and beverages. The service is low key, friendly, and efficient. Once you finish the meal, you stop by the counter to pay your bill. While they do not serve alcohol, I understand that you may carry some in from the other shops nearby. There is street parking. I am certainly going to return to try other dishes.

This place was fantastic. I live two blocks away and pass by it legit everyday and have always wanted to try. So I decided to just walk over and get a table for one. It was amazing. It's byob and the atmosphere is just so warm and friendly. The sushi was amazing like I got a CRÈME BRÛLÉE SUSHI ROLL??!! It was so delicious it may be part of my weekly routine bc there are so many rolls I want to try.

Sushi and the food was very solid. It was an interesting experience ordering through the iPad and barely having contact with anyone that worked at the restaurant. This is also a BYOB establishment, but there is a liquor store next door. Sushi and food was good, that would keep me coming back, along with the BYOB, makes it a very affordable option if you are looking for something that is pretty quick and not too fancy.

Not good sushi! The spicy tuna roll appeared grey and the salmon smelled fishy I didn't even eat it--I almost asked to return the items. The yellowtail was decent and the miso soup was the best thing at this place. It's super cute with all the added interior details and figurines but I won't be back. $37 gone...

FOOD They had a great buy one get 1 half off special on…read moretheir sushi rolls which was quite the deal. I got the baked salmon roll which was my favorite from the two. The other was the soft shell crab roll which also was tasty. The flavors were on point with the combination of the sweet and umami. SERVICE Ordered my food to go then decided I wanted to eat it there. The owner was nice and gave great customer service. He even serve my baked salmon roll for there, and plated the other roll to go. I thought it was such a nice touch since I was on the phone and forgot to communicate that I'd like it done that way. He literally read my mind. AMBIANCE The place was elegant, and quieter which was perfect for the setting. There was tv on in case I needed some entertainment. I had a FT call I had to take with my friend but was also able to enjoy my food. It was a great place I'll definitely be visiting again.

It's not the best, but it's consistent and tasty. However, to not keep paying delivery fees, we decided to go in person since the restaurant is close by, and that was a mistake. It's a cute, clean restaurant in a weird location, tucked into a corner by the target. They have tablets at the tables, which is fun, and they still brought paper menus, but we ordered off the tablet. It is odd because while my husband was deciding what to order, the tablet told us to order or it would time out. So I ordered my food and sent it in and then a few seconds later, my husband put in his order. Mine came out quickly and was the quality I'd come to expect. And then...we waited. And waited. Other parties slowly trickled in (prior it had been mostly empty). When I saw they got their food long before my husband received his, I flagged one of the two waitresses and she assured us they were working on it. Like me, my husband got two sushi rolls. It took another 15 minutes (during which time soups and plates had been handily delivered to other tables) before my husband finally got his food. There was no apology, and no acknowledgment that two rolls took over a half hour. If they had forgotten the order or something had gone awry, that's fine! I understand the chaos of a busy kitchen. But to not acknowledge or check on us in a near empty restaurant is just poor service. I will stick to ordering online.

This was their first time to have a sushi bar type of experience and it was a very good beginner place to go. If you are just trying sushi for the first time. It was our first time here and we were excited to try it out. The server that seated us, quickly helped us to the bar area. He was very sweet and friendly, making the interaction nice and fun. We ordered with him and had chosen their 4 roll set. We were able to substitute their shrimp tempera roll out for salmon and another albacore due to a shellfish allergy. He also asked if we'd like it spicy, which I said yes to mine and not to my fiancé's. We also ordered two beers to try out. When we got our beers, we poured them into the glasses and my fiancé was worried about the sediment in his drink. We thought it was part of the beer, but when we lifted the can, it was expired. The server quickly brought the beer back to the manager, who compensated us and gave us an Ale instead. Very generous of him. Our appetizer came out first - we had gotten their spicy albacore on crispy rice. They had crispy pieces on top, and made it okay. The taste was unique. Then our rolls came out. I had albacore, salmon, and tuna for my first three and I don't think I was a fan of their "spicy"ness. The spice was little to none and the concept of "spice" was a mixture with mayonnaise. I wanted the fresh fish taste, but the mayonnaise truly masked it. The rolls were also quite greasy, yet their seaweed was crispy. My fiancé's rolls were a bit more fresh and pleasant. For our last roll, I was served a spicy albacore and my fiancé received salmon. This wasn't what we ordered, because I wanted a salmon roll to substitute the shrimp. They had mixed up our rolls, but I didn't complain. There was a lady seated next to us, and they got her order wrong, too. When I sat there to check Yelp reviews more thoroughly, it seems other patrons also generally have their orders wrong. They had quite a number of people eating there and I can see many people who like the restaurant. It's a great place if it's your first time at a Handroll bar and first time experiencing this type of restaurant. I've been to quite a few Handroll bars in a range of affordable prices, but I didn't enjoy the quality of fish here or the mistakes that were made. Although we were compensated, the mistakes added up from us and the other patrons eating there. There needs to be more care and consistency, I presume.

No debate, no hesitation. Just ramen. I had tried this spot at another location before and remembered liking it, so it felt like a safe, comforting choice for a long overdue catch-up. We got there at that in-between hour... not quite lunch, not quite dinner. The kind of time where the restaurant feels like it's just exhaling. It was completely empty except for us, which honestly made everything feel a little more intimate--like the space was ours for the afternoon. We sat down and immediately slipped into conversation, picking up right where we left off after graduation. Life updates, little wins, quiet struggles... the kind of conversation that only comes easy with people who've known you for years. And in between all that, our mouths were busy. The ramen came out hot, comforting, and exactly what we needed. Rich broth, satisfying noodles--one of those meals where you don't even realize how hungry you were until you take the first bite. We kept pausing mid-sentence just to take another bite, then laughing because we couldn't decide what deserved more attention: the food or the conversation. Service was really attentive without being intrusive. They somehow knew when to check in and when to let us just exist in our little bubble. The music was soft, not overpowering, so we never had to raise our voices or repeat ourselves--something I appreciate more and more these days. We stayed longer than we probably planned, but it didn't feel rushed at all. Just two old friends, warm bowls of ramen, and a space that let us slow down for a bit. Definitely one of those simple meals that turns into a really good memory.
