Yuko is at the back of the building, not seen from Wilshire Blvd. Go south on Dunsmuir Ave.

Noon, Thursday, January 29, 2026 My mentor and I walked to Yuko Kitchen for lunch. I'm a first time visitor, never been here as I usually brown bag it for lunch. Upon arrival, it looked really busy with people seated outside. Yuko Kitchen is not a major fast food joint. It's a small kitchy hole in the wall. Super cool vibe when I walked inside to order my meal. I ordered the DIY sushi bowl that included nori to make my own hand rolls. It was a lot of food for sure! I made 6 rolls. The food was delicious. I enjoyed my first visit here. It's a hidden gem off of Dunsmuir Ave just off of Wilshire at the rear of the building.

Super cute ambience, lots of plants lots of things so many things so many places, a little overwhelming, a little overstimulating. Tables are very close together not a super great flow to the seating.. I would not call this feng shui. I had the teriyaki chicken bowl and it was delightful. Love the way the rice is cooked. Everything was flavorful and good. My friend had the beef curry bowl. It also was quite delicious. Definitely five out of five. We had a shrimp salad roll. It was basic nothing special. We also tried a butter cookie and a strawberry mochi cookie, and they were absolutely terrible, the mochi cookie seemed almost underdone, unless that was the goal, but the grit and the bitter left on your pallet was super unpleasant.. I would go back here to try other bowls.

PERFECT spot to hit before a concert at El Ray. Amazing ambiance with fresh plants everywhere, quick service, and delicious food. Affordable options too + vegan options!

Stopped by for lunch and immediately loved the vibe. I'm a sucker for a restaurant filled with greenery, and this place delivered plants everywhere, creating such a fresh and inviting atmosphere. The food was good, the portions were generous (come hungry!), and the menu had tons of options to choose from. Service was quick and efficient, which made the whole experience even better. Definitely a solid lunch spot.

I think this is a reasonably priced spot with 11/10 ambiance! Super great choice for a casual, yet delicious meal. I don't think the vibes give off "Studio Ghibli" like some have been claiming but still gorgeous nonetheless. It has an abundance of plants, fairy lights, and feels very homey. The cookies were moist and the sashimi salad I had was very fresh! Definitely stop by if you're around the area!

a truly magical experience! It felt like I was a Studio Ghibli character surrounded by plants and whimsy There is inside and outside seating, limited, but moves quickly. There is street parking but you could also walk over from LACMA. The jar of pickles was so delicious! I NEED the pickling juice recipe!

The food here was delicious, and the restaurant operates on a 90% self-service model. You can choose your own seat from the available options. Additionally, they offer a 3.5% discount if you pay with a card.

Place has cool look with tons of plants and fountains. Also lots of choices on the menu. Prices were good for the amount. I enjoyed the food overall, but it wasn't as flavorful as expected. Dessert sample was okay.

A MUST TRY. Wow. from the service, to the plating, to the flavors, to the ambiance!!! I wish I could give it a 10/10. First, I absolutely LOVE all the plants everywhere, it's a beauty. Prices are reasonable when compared to the portion and quality of food. My whole family devoured their plates/bowls. Next, the presentation is awesome. The chef prepares delicious meals AND plates the food aesthetically. So colorful!! Honestly, I trust that you can get anything on the menu and be VERY satisfied. I wish this place was closer to my hometown in OC, but I would go out of my way to go back here!!

What a cute place in LA. The portion is huge, the dishes are flavorful, and the place is cute. I liked everything about this place. I would definitely come back and try other stuff. They also have some vegan options too. People here are quick to respond. I high recommend.

What a little gem. Food is fantastic and the portions are generous. The atmosphere and all the plants/decor make you feel like you've been transported to a little hidden spot on vacation in some small town in Mexico when you're indoors. Sitting outside maybe Mexico City. Will be back, again and again!

Still a great place compared to the fast food options in the area. Prices have gone up, like many other places, however. But considering it's self service and you are not obligated to pay any tips, coming here will automatically save you 15- 20%! So yes, I still high recommend this place!

This place is a perfect five stars. Can only go when I'm in the area but when I am, I never regret going here. The chicken bowl is 20 bucks but so worth it. They ain't playing. The mint lemonade is one of the best I've had. This place is all about quality in everything you order. Not only is the food amazing but what a cozy spot too. Beautiful foliage and cute places to sit. I love that they also sell plants. Theres also a book trade wall. The staff is super friendly and I always feel very welcome. Wish I lived closer. Can't go wrong with Yuko.

Would Yuko Kitchen be able to seat a party of 5 or 6?

This is a small establishment. I don't recommend this restaurant for larger groups. There is some seating outside that may accommodate if it's available. Inside is not going to seat a large party.

The pork chops were delicious and packed with flavor, but the spinach underneath was a bit too bitter for my taste. The mashed potatoes were creamy, soft, and comforting. I even called about an hour after I got home because I started getting a scratchy throat and realized I didn't specifically ask if there were strawberries in the raspberry sorbet (I'm allergic and that was completely my mistake for not double checking before I chowed down) but the host that answered was super nice, I could hear in the background her double checking with a server, who then even double checked with the kitchen to make sure they were giving me the correct answer which I really really appreciate. We ordered a bunch of cocktails along with a few glasses of red wine and champagne. The cocktails were definitely the highlight. We tried the Blackberry, Cucumber, Snow Pea, Tomato, and Daikon. The Tomato cocktail was my favorite by far -- savory, balanced, and not overly sweet. Blackberry was a close second, really refreshing and easy to drink. My first glass of champagne was unfortunately flat and pretty gross but to their credit they replaced it immediately once I mentioned it. Still, for an upscale restaurant, that was a little annoying to begin with. For food, we got the asparagus, burger, fries, abalone, and the bluefin tuna belly deviled eggs. The abalone was easily the standout dish of the night. Everything else ranged from just okay to forgettable. The burger sucked. Overall, I'd come back for drinks and would give the food another shot since the menu changes pretty frequently but this particular meal didn't totally hit for me.

The restaurant is located at the Beverly Center and does not validate parking. The good news is that parking is relatively affordable at $1 per hour. Since I don't eat meat or chicken, I checked the menu online beforehand and found several options that looked appealing. Unfortunately, once we were seated, we were given a completely different menu. When I asked about it, our server, Lindsey, explained that the menu I had seen online isn't available until after 3 p.m. That was disappointing since I had already planned my meal. We started with the biscuits. They had a strong smoky flavor that honestly made me think they were baked with pork fat or in an oven used for barbecue. Lindsey assured me they weren't made with any meat fats, but the smoky flavor was definitely noticeable. I ordered the salmon with microgreens and a side of mac and cheese. My partner ordered the steak and eggs with hash browns, and we both enjoyed the mint mocktails--they were refreshing and one of the highlights of the meal. The salmon was cooked well and I enjoyed it. The mac and cheese, however, was a huge letdown. It arrived in a cute little cast-iron skillet on a butcher block, so the presentation was great, but the taste didn't match the appearance. It reminded me of boxed mac and cheese made with powdered cheese, topped with Parmesan just to create a crust. It was runny, lacked richness, and there wasn't even a hint of that satisfying cheese pull. Unfortunately, there were service issues as well. My partner specifically ordered his eggs over hard, but they weren't prepared that way. His hash browns never arrived at the table, and on the drive home he realized we had been charged for them. He intended to mention it before leaving but simply forgot. The biggest positive is the restaurant itself. It's beautiful, stylish, and has a great ambiance. Beyond that, though, I found the food to be average for the price. Even by Los Angeles standards, $42 for chicken and waffles feels excessive. Overall, Yardbird looks better than it tastes. While there were a few bright spots, the inconsistent service, menu confusion, and underwhelming food don't justify the price. Unfortunately, I don't see myself returning.

Many years later and I finally gave Jinky's a try to relive those damn great chili memories. I ordered a quart of chili because I may as well get as much of a dose as possible and had it delivered through DoorDash. Everything arrived intact, no spills. I'll sum it up...was it as great as CMS? I'd have to say no, but it did the job of a comforting bowl of chili. Half the fun of CMS was getting split bowls and Jinky's doesn't offer a great variety of chili options. Also, I don't recall Randy's chili being very oily and as you can see, this chili was very oily. I solved the oil problem once the chili cooled and oil congealed - it was very easy to spoon out. Another disappointment was that CMS used to come with a side of veggies and this secret pink sauce (I believe I was told it was Thousand Island sauce with Tabasco). That shiet was delish af! Jinky's provides you with garlic bread as a side. Eh, I don't know how I feel about garlic bread being paired with chili - cornbread may have been a better option. . The veggies and sauce would have been ideal. All in all, while the chili was decent, it did not serve as a substitute for CMS and the lack of choice in flavors was disappointing. The whole experience just wasn't there for me. I have to accept CMS is history and savor the memories of some of then best chili I have ever had.
