Solid local spot for the neighborhood but wouldn't go out of my way for a visit. Kaisendon (4/5) fish was fresh and the simple salad were actually very fresh and tasty. dressing was standard and there was not much in it besides fish. I had to request wasabi. Came here for some sushi and was surprised at how cute this little shop was. It seems they run a cafe shop in the day and sashimi seafood for lunch/dinner. Service was good and there was plenty of seating, but did not feel the fish was the freshest. PARKING Free parking in the VERY TINY lot with compact spots. I could NEVER backup into these spots but thankfullyyy got that passenger princess card ;) thx bb SERVICE Was seated immediately and given menus. It seems this place just opened as the server was pretty new but still took our orders quickly. FOOD We got the happy hour trio which tasted pretty good, although not as tender as I'd like. Still a good pick though! We also tried their chirashi bowl which was mediocre. It had fish tofu inside and seaweed which felt more like a poke bowl rather than chirashi. The ikura eggs were also a bit concerning since it had 3 colors inside them which we never seen before but their chef confirmed they were safe to eat. Lastly we tried their seared salmon roll which was quite small. It did taste good but would've liked it to be more seared and flavorful. OVERALL I think it's a decent place for sushi, but probably nicer for a cafe spot to chat and you can even watch fifa on their tv. read more

Recently opened Japanese restaurant that serves up simple, but quality food and drinks! Got some food and drink to-go; I didn't see that you could order online for pick-up, so I just went in to order; it took about 20 minutes to get everything, as it's made-to-order, so I wonder if Soan will set up a pick-up/delivery option online... Any case, the food and drink were really yummy! The chicken katsu sando was fantastic, with a crispy, juicy fried chicken and flavorful mayo and soft milk bread to complement it. I especially liked the hojicha latte with cream top, which was strong and nutty. The matcha latte with cream top was decent, although I would've wanted it a bit stronger (just personal preference) and the omurice was tasty with a savory and sweet combo (the latter from ketchup). Overall, a promising little restaurant with a calm and minimalist atmosphere that's perfect for chilling and slowing down to enjoy life's pleasures. Worth checking out! read more

Came for 6pm dinner this past weekend. We live in the area, and have noticed that this was a new establishment, and excited that we finally got a chance to try it. The space is so, so aesthetically pleasing! Lots of bright light, and it's very clean. There is a daily happy hour menu, which was a pleasant perk. We started off with the salmon skin salad, which was delicious and crispy. We also added the chicken karage off of the regular menu- totally fried to perfection- not too much batter. Finally, for our mains, we went with offered sets. I got two handrolls, three pieces of sashimi, and a green tea drink. The handrolls were very fresh, and the sashimi were so flavorful. The staff was also very attentive as well. I can't wait to come back and try their brunch menu! TIP: free parking in the front or there is an overflow lot in the back. read more

We stopped by after an early morning flight for some brunch. The place is nice and quiet, everyone around us seemed to be working on their laptops and eating lunch. The selection of savory breakfast items is what piqued our interest to pop in, and of course a raving review from our local friends about their food. Can definitely say it met all our expectations! The egg sando was creamy with nice bites of egg whites on nicely toasted bread. The katsu sliders were probably my favorite, the katsu was crunchy but still was saucy without being soggy. The arugula with the katsu was genius, it made a fresh unique flavor profile I enjoyed a lot. The hand rolls were also delish, I don't normally opt for hand rolls but the fish quality was tasty! Lastly the matcha mango latte was everything I needed. Perfect color, strong matcha came through not too milky, and the mango complimented it so well. I had to stop myself from ordering a second! Service was also 10/10. We let her know we were visiting for the week, and we got a ton of local recommendations for food and coffee! read more

If I could give it 3.5 stars I would as it's not a bad spot. I really wanted to love this place as I love the original Sasabune restaurant. I may have come in expecting too much in terms of the grade of sushi from the original Sasabune. While decent and above supermarket sushi, the sushi was not as tender or naturally sweet as other local sushi chains in the fast casual sushi space. The rice was also not as soft and bouncy as I'd expect to complement the fish. It tended to be on the harder side. For a quick sushi fix, it did the job. But it's not somewhere I'll be craving, unfortunately. However, I'd love to try the morning/lunchtime menu that looks like it has potential. Cute space with nice, engaging service rounding the space out. Parking is not great. read more

Came here for dinner earlier this week and was disappointed that they stopped doing their March promo of 20% off even though it's stated on social that it was all month and we went in March. False advertising! The food itself was decent though but overpriced with the portion. We got the crispy tuna rice and it only came with 2 pieces. We usually see this order with 4 pieces. The cut rolls were also very tiny in size. For the price, you might as well go to Yama marketplace for the same quality or better and definitely more quantity. read more

Great new sushi spot! Made a reservation an hour before coming for a Friday night and there was a table ready for us despite people waiting outside. Interiors are nice and the place was really busy. We ordered the chicken katsu plate, shrimp tempura roll, spicy tuna roll, and yellowtail at first and then added a salmon cut roll. Chicken katsu with dipping sauce was pretty good, although I would have preferred it to be thicker. All the sushi was great, really good fresh fish where nothing tasted fishy. Portions seemed small so needed to order more to round out the meal for two people. Only downside was the food took awhile to arrive. Would love to try out their lunch menu next time! read more

This spot seems to function as a coffee shop during the day, restaurant at night; my review comments on my experience of the coffee shop. Delicious hojicha latte, friendly service, and great ambiance! I worked here for a couple of hours in peace with good wifi, a comfortable chair, and lots of natural light. Was excited to see Soan open up where it did! There aren't many good coffee shops in this area, and arguably none that are pleasant to do work in. Wishing this place a lot of success! read more

I stumbled upon this on uber eats and it's my new favorite sushi takeout. Everything I have ordered, I have liked and that is usually not the case! The quality is extremely fresh and the prices are great! I got the Kaisen don with salmon and yellowtail and it was better than any poke bowl I've tried in LA. The toro roll was great! The spicy tuna and salmon rolls were good too along with the crispy rice. The only thing I wasn't a fan of was the blue crab roll. I plan to come visit in person. read more
