Have been going to Igor to service my cars for years now. Very knowledgeable and well priced and quick. Need to show up earlier in order to get in as you may have to wait - they get busy. Get my inspections, oil changes, brakes etc done there and they usually pick up on a few things that aren't obvious that will become a problem later if not addressed. read more

The owner Igor is dishonest crook. He changed thermostat for my car and two weeks later the light went on again. When I came back to the shop he simply turned off the light without checking what was wrong. He said if it's not heating there is no problem. But it was not heating even before he changed the part. Then three weeks later the car started to heat on a highway when I was out of state and I had to get tow track and change the thermostat again in a dealership and they checked the system and Igor didn't even enter it into the system that he changed the thermostat so I have no proof. Another problem is after he cut some connection to turn off the light I have no warning about any problem until it completely breaks and I'm stranded on a road. read more

Pricing is fair, good. Igor is very popular among his customers; he has a large throng of followers. Everybody wants to talk to him. His wife is nice. They are honest. Some people treat their Yelp reviews like their relationships; they hand out good ratings to every Tom, Dick, and Harry of a business; and bad reviews to businesses that don't deserve it -- Igor Auto Center is one of them. As an educated consumer, I understand that businesses in NYC might be comprised of workers who may not speak English well. I guess the one star reviewer forgot to mention that. On the bright side, Igor's English is far superior compared to his workers', so if you're going to speak with someone, I recommend asking for him or his assistant (not sure if he still has one). Anyway, one of the reasons I've used Igor in the past, is because of his passion for cars and solving problems. He is an evil genius fixing cars at a fair price. I'm sold on their work, especially when it comes with a side of Russian sarcasm (which is drier than the worst cotton mouth you've ever had). Tip: The best time to go is in the morning, around 8-9. Great place, always busy! Knowledgeable staff, they do everything quick. No bs, fare prices. I go for service only here. I prefer this place over any other car dealership service center, because if you go to your dealership service center they will charge you for many things that you don't even need and you have to leave your car there for few days which is insane even if you want just check up. Sometimes they don't even do anything just hold your car for 2 days. Here in Igor's auto service you'll get what you need to be done. Period. And you don't even need to make an appointment for service like any other dealership. First come first serve! Highly recommend this place. Went to get inspection done and it was cheap and fast so I decided to give them a try with mounting my tires, which they said they do. Big mistake. Should have went to a specialized tire shop. The mechanic ripped the rubber covering on the stem of the pressure sensor I provided, before giving up saying they don't fit. Also scratched 2 of my wheels at the edge of the rim where they wedge the tire on with a tool. Didn't notice the damage until later. If fixing cheap car on the cheap is what you are looking for this may be the place for you, but don't expect them to take any care or caution when doing so. read more

After I was ripped off by Lenny's Auto Service, not too far from this place, I went to Igor's in a pissed off mood. Even though the mechanic did not speak English very well, the woman who took care of my transactions did all the talking :) They fixed my problem, they were fair priced, and they were super nice. It was cold outside and the woman invited me in for coffee and chocolate. OMG! Living in the Sheepshead Bay area, and being one who does not identify as Eastern European or Russian, these people were NOT rude at all and they were the most helpful people I have ever met here. They were not trying to scam me like Lenny's or make me feel incompetent about the issues with my car. I will surely take my car back to this place for small jobs like oil changes to more emergent jobs like break pads. 5 THUMBS UP!!! PS- I signed up for YELP just to leave a comment for them. These people are rude and ignorant, this shop should be name 'Ignorant Igor.' I went in today and nobody helped me, I had to walk in and nobody showed me any acknowledgment at all. I asked if they fixed ac's and they said no. I called in and asked and they said yes and I confronted them about earlier and they said, "oh not today." TIP: Spend your money where you will get your money's worth, not to some ignorant Igor. read more

Igor's inexperienced mechanic cracked aluminum engine oil pan on a Honda by using a metal washer instead of original aluminum Honda crush washer. Engine oil pan cracked in 2 places around the drain bolt due to overtightening of the oil drain bolt. Igor would not accept responsibility and wanted me to pay for the engine oil pan. I left the car overnight to have the replacement of the engine oil pan completed. When I returned the next day Igor was being very rude and disrespectful. Igor refused to provide work order receipt for replacing the engine oil pan. Igor also demanded I get in the car and drive away without looking around the car to make sure everything is ok. I opened the hood anyway to check the engine oil level to make sure the engine is safe to start and the engine oil was below the lowest mark. Igor refused to add the missing oil and was threatening and pushing me to leave right away. Igor behaves like this to all the clients and refuses to take responsibility for his inexperienced underpaid mechanics breaking car parts. Igor changed over the years and now want you to pay for clear damage that his mechanics cause to your car. Keep in mind that I have been a good customer of Igor for 15 years. Will never go to his shop again after a terrible experience like that. read more
