We stopped in for some Mexican food from out of town. Someone recommended this place to us. Food was really good and they had big portions. However I'm giving them 3 stars because of the absolute horrible service. We walked in... no one to greet us on a Saturday around 1130 am. We could see all the staff huddled, laughing and chit chatting in the back A couple girls saw us, told others we were there and then proceeded to keep talking amongst themselves. After a couple of minutes i stepped forward and saw they had one more table and I said loudly- do we just seat ourselves. They looked at me like I was interrupting their party. A male waiter came and sat us without menus. He left and assumed he would bring us menus. He did not. He went back to the huddle. I waited a couple minutes more and saw an older lady standing by herself and motioned for her and she came. She didn't speak English but I was able to translate I needed the waiter. The same guy came back and asked if we were ready? Our group looked at each other confused- I said we haven't even got menus He was like oh yea. We got menus, ordered drinks and even that took a while. We ordered and food actually came quite quick and was really tasty. The staff was pretty non existent and we had to constantly look for people to get refills or napkins. When we finally were done, the staff was now in the front by hostess stand. Again in motioned for someone and was ignored. I walked up and a few girls saw me and keep talking so I said excuse me I need to go boxes and where do I pay? They said to ask my waiter (who was standing there) and they laughed and they moved again to the back. I went to sit down pay and pack my food. I walked up to the front to wait for the others who were with me to go to restroom. There was a hostess standing at the front, eyes closed! She was sleeping while standing. Ha! My son walked up and i pointed to her. I said she must have had a long night . The management needs to take another look at their staff, cut some and retrain others. The only person working was the older lady who brought chips and cleaned tables. These other young people were there for a paycheck, nothing more. read more

The restaurant itself is pretty large. Really loved their decor and random iguana statues hidden all around. To drink I tried their Paloma and it was just ok. To eat I had their shredded chicken burrito. While it's a large burrito, it isn't really worth it. Their chips and salsa are good. The server was friendly and attentive. read more

I came to this location cause I was in a mood for a margarita. Let's start with the parking. There is plenty parking so it shouldn't be an issue. This was my first time at this location as I went straight to the bar. I was greeted and the bartender provided menus and asked if we wanted chips and salsa. What I was disappointed with was based on what the bartender stated a lot of the margaritas are premade. I did order a $14 drink that he made to order that was tasty. My guest ordered a beer and stated it wasn't really cold so we didn't order a second round. I tried the chips with the green salsa which wasn't my favorite. The restaurant seemed clean I just didn't like how the back of the machine at the bar had exposed wires as that could be a safety hazard. I've never had a bad experience at Iguana Joe's. Their margaritas are made with such care and the exact liquor as advertised on the menu. The food is reasonably priced and honestly, it's delicious! You should definitely try the sizzling fajita plate; it's one of my personal favorites. And the new soft serve margaritas! I've had one at a different restaurant before, and it took over three hours to get it. But here, there's no wait time, and the same exact margarita! There are so many options when it comes to seating. Sometimes, I struggle to decide where I want to sit, but the wonderful hostesses always seem to find the perfect seat for me. They also ask if you prefer to sit outside, in the bar area, or at a dinner table. The ambiance here is spectacular. The music is not too loud, not too hot, or too cold. Iquana Joes is average Tex-Mex. The service at this location was not the best. They have good queso, red salsa, enchiladas, and some other stuff. The green salsa is not best. The beans are watered down. The enchiladas could potentially be improved by having a more authentic chili con Carne sauce. They do have many sauce options though. They also offer free ice cream. It's no Dairy Queen, but it will do. This restaurant stays busy, so I assume the food is probably fresh. Overall, not bad. read more

Good service and fast food preparation. We've been here a few times. It's a great place for families and people with young kids since there's a playground and outdoor seating. We're didn't wait long to get seated or to have someone come by and take our order. There's even a photographer that stops by to take pictures and you can purchase it. There's a large selection of margaritas but I'm more of a mojito girl. The one I got is good but didn't have much mint. You also get chips and salsa to get you going before your food arrives. Our waitress let me custom order two shredded chicken tacos with a side of rice and beans. It was good and filling. My boyfriend got the taco salad, it was good but the shell didn't taste good. It tasted like rancid oil or chemicals so he didn't eat it. He's had it before and not had this problem. Met a friend up here cause this place ain't nowhere close to my crib but it was pretty good experience. The food was delicious, served hot and they have NUMEROUS flavors of margaritas to get the party started! I mean, lots! The chips and salsa didn't disappoint either. The service was friendly and we heard a birthday celebration so kudos to them for that. Kind of a lost art in restaurants these days or maybe I haven't seen it cause I do go to them as much as pre-COVID. The tacos we had were really good and also tried one of the wings. So let me start out by saying that I live in California. With that being said, California doesn't have real Mexican food. They have American Mexican food. I come down to Houston quite often and I had doordashed this specific restaurant to my girlfriend's house and I had the kids portion of a cheese, enchilada beans and rice. Oh my goodness! A huge world of difference between Texas Mexican and California Mexican. Incredible beans! Incredible rice! And the cheese enchilada was perfect with their not so hot salsa. It comes with a nice amount of chips with your meal and it was completely. I can't even explain it different than California Mexican. My husband had cheese enchiladas with beans and rice and he also had the chicken flautas. To die for very very good. Not too crunchy not too crispy perfect. The doordash delivery guy delivered it on time. No problems. Everything went well. As for the ambience, I can't say because I didn't go to the restaurant itself. Ambience is always casual here. I read a review after the fact that someone posted here that they asked for hot red sauce and were charged extra for it. Well, I came to try out the chicken fajita tomatillo sauce enchiladas since someone in our party had them before and said they were really good. They were very good and fresh but my disappointment was that nowhere on this menu as you can see below says that the sauce of your choice for the enchiladas is extra. Well it was. They charged me .49 for each order (3) for the green sauce plus we asked to make sure that the 2 eat in orders weren't dry if they could please make sure that they had enough sauce. Well, they charged me another $3.98 for that on top of the .39 per order. RIPOFF, this is so wrong of them but of course the kids working there are only doing as told. Never have I gone to any restaurant where they charge according to a sauce used for your enchiladas. The waitress said the only sauce they don't charge for is the gravy sauce enchiladas. Really??? Does everyone eat fake enchiladas? This is the reason why I only gave 2 stars and because our waitress really didn't want to hear it. Below is also my receipt to prove what they charged. They have lost a customer for sure and hope they realize that there are plenty of authentic Mexican restaurants that are not going to charge you for something that is on the menu as a choice. Went in on this past Friday (6/20/2025) afternoon to have lunch I was sat in Belinda's section (great server) the food and service was excellent! Everything was good besides how hot it was in the restaurant. It was so hot that we could not enjoy our meals. Went to the bathroom before leaving and it was hot in there too. Love that before we left the manager came by our table to make sure everything was good. If your customers have to raise their voices to speak to each other or have to constantly ask the server to repeat themselves then it's too loud. Im truly saddened by my experience while dining this evening. I visit this location often and nothing like this has ever happened. I went to the host who was very pleasant, i told her id like to Sit in the patio area so i could be assessable to the playground (had young ones with me). She escorted me to the patio area where i waited around 20 minutes before heading to the bar to open a tab. Multiple servers saw me. I stopped a server to see if possibly i could get service, i told him i brought drinks in the mean time & i headed back to my table. A manager came out to speak to me. My family & I (party of 3) came in on a Saturday after rolling skating and surprisingly we were seated right away.. No wait it's a great way to start. We weren't there 5 minutes before someone was bringing us fresh chips & salsa, the chips were warm and crisp (just how I like them!) My daughter got the kids meal Tostino's Pizza Roll & waffle fries which looked good.. not like those little ass pizza rolls in the frozen section at walmart lol her dad got the enchilada plate which came with beans and rice - i don't care for beef but they did taste good/flavorful. I had a full order of chicken nachos - i had to ask for lettuce because that wasn't included (kinda weird but whatever) all the toppings were good, but the chips tasted a bit stale. I wish they would have used the appetizer chips for my nachos, i also ordered a Mojito which was nice & sweet.. however I asked for margarita salt on the rim and they gave me sugar instead. Lastly, I thought it was pretty cool that they allow a photographer to roam the place & ask patrons if they want a photo taken. They give you 1 for free (the advertisement of Iguana Joe's is bigger than you actual picture smh lol) the professional picture that he takes has great lighting and photoshop with a fancy gloss, 2 pics for $20 plus the free one.. not bad and it makes the time go by. We experienced great service at this location. Our team visited during our retreat for a quick dinner and Abri the hostess was professional and prompt from the start of us arriving. During the visit our waiter Alvin, was extremely knowledgeable, personable, and friendly the entire time.
