Nice little coffee and bread shop right in the heart of the Nob Hill neighborhood. We had a tomato and Brie sandwich which was outstanding. One small negative was that we wanted Sweet and Low for a drink and they only had sugar. I wish I could rate 10 stars just based on the HEAVENLY baked goodies smell in this little shop. Oh man. Even behind my mask (they have patio seating and also have curbside pick up options), the smell was incredible, and I immediately fell in love. It was tempting to buy every single item they had, but settled on an almond croissant and fruit pastry. The fruit pastry is the absolute winner in my book. The pastry is light and crispy, and the fruit/glaze are a perfect balance. It's not too sweet, and since it has fruit, it's a healthy breakfast option, right? Finally had a chance to check this place out! It's small but light and airy on the inside. Too cold to sit on the patio today, but I imagine it's pretty great on a warm morning. Staff is friendly and they navigate the chaos well (I say chaos because it's small so people just congregate instead of forming a line). Their sandwiches are really good- but I mean, you're getting them on fresh bread. Of course they're going to be good. And they pile on the ingredients! Plenty of egg salad, plenty of tomatoes and brie. We bought a couple breads/pastries, but even at 11:30am the pastries were thinning out so if you want something, I'd definitely suggest getting there close to when they open because they were sold out of certain items by about 10:30. read more

Finally back in the ABQ and I thought I would try out a new and up and coming place for breakfast. Swung by Ihatov and was this place ever in "full swing"! The line was nearly out the door! I did have somewhere to be, but I thought ok I'll be a little late and see if this place is as hype as the line indicates. I did wait for about ten minutes (it was morning rush time) before I finally made it to the counter to order. I would say they could use some help in staffing, but I also dont think it was their fault as two ladies ordered a bunch of pastries and coffee and with two people running the front of house that massive order kept them busy for a while. Once I ordered I got my coffee and muffin within two minutes. I ordered a latte and a Morning Glory muffin (carrots, nuts, fruit bits for #guthealth?) and both were very good. I took a picture, but it wasn't that great so I owe you a better one later. I will say they do have some tables to sit down at to eat there and the inside smelled of baked bread. I liked it but it could be over powering to some people as you coulf physically see it in the air. Maybe just needed to turn the vents on higher. 4/5 stars read more

I had an appointment in the area, so I decided to stop by for a quick bite. I was not disappointed! I had the Green Chile Cheese croissant and a Matcha Latte. The croissant was the right mix of buttery and flakey, and enough green Chile to provide a kick but not overpower. The Matcha Latte was probably one of the best I've had in some time. Sweetened with honey and didn't have that "grassy" taste that happens when you're heavy handed with the matcha. The latte art on top was the icing on the cake and made my day. I didn't get the Barista's name, but keep doing what you're doing! :) The dining room is small and intimate and packed on a Saturday morning, but I didn't feel cramped and staff didn't try to rush me out the door once I've finished. The staff courtesy is A+ We arrived early for "breakfast" we ordered two boxes of mix pastries for my husband's office and we tried at the bakery croissant, Muffin morning glory also a buttermilk biscuit... and the spinach Quiche freshly baked. Oh my God The croissant was exquisite, the Morning Glory muffin IS INDEED A GLORIOUS thing!! Ohhh at last but not least the Buttermilk biscuit WAOoo is like the humble appearance do not goes along with such as satisfying experience it gives after first bite! To me, there are a few basics that separate big cities from, well, Albuquerque. Italian restaurants must make their own pasta. Brunch is actually a thing. And there's a great bakery in every neighborhood. Professional sports stadiums and IKEA outlets are typical but not manditory. But anyway, bakeries: great cities have great bakeries. While the 505 generally remains sedated with panaderias offering starchy, overly sweetened, spongy white breads, Ihatov presents the absolute real deal. I've only visited this place maybe six times since discovering it a couple of weeks ago -- and I don't live remotely close. They don't offer much for lunch, but the egg salad is surprisingly buoyant, hardly mayoed. But you're here for the goods: from baguettes to croissants to heavy morning muffins that'll keep you satiated for hours, this place delivers hearty and handmade. The coffee's too dark, but I sip it anyway, because the six or so tables inside deliver a European vibe complete with a soundtrack of American music sung by French vocalists, friendly counter intelligence, and smells. If you are in the Albuquerque area, Ihatov is THE place for the freshest of pastries and delicious bread. I rate this place 4/5 stars however, because the prices are rather steep, and it's a hit or miss if bread is really worth the price. Rustic Loaf- My family bought a full rustic loaf first thing in the morning, and the bread was so hot and fresh that it stayed warm till we cut if for an early lunch picnic. The texture of the bread was so deliciously chewy in a way that only the freshest of breads can be, and it was absolutely heavenly. I just could not get enough. This bread is pricey for bread, but if you can get it fresh, I think this is one of the most well worth purchases. Sourdough Baguette- This bread was less impressive compared to the first rustic loaf. The baguette is still delicious, however is was extremely crunchy, to the point of hurting your gums. I imagine this would be the perfect bread for dipping in artisan olive oil, however it is not near the caliber of the rustic loaf. Sourdough Loaf- Again, the bread was delicious, but I was not as impressed with this bread as the rustic loaf. There wasn't really anything special about this loaf besides the fact that it was just generally good bread. Morning Glory Muffin- This muffin rivals a fruitcake with how jam-packed it is with various flavors and textures. I have never had a morning glory muffin before, however I am impressed with the sheer amount fiber that can be packed into a single muffin. Chili & Cheese Croissant- Outside of the finest European croissants, I do believe that Ihatov produces the best croissant I have ever had in the US. The croissant was very obviously fresh based and the texture was mouthwaterly crisp and flakey with the perfect amount of butter. My only complaint is that while it was a delicious croissant, there was barely any cheese in the croissant and the chili flavor was pretty much nonexistent. I would not recommend paying $5 for the chili & cheese croissant and would recommend their plain croissant. Hot Tip: Ihatov sells day old products for 50% off. The bread and pastries are still super and tasty and are still fairly fresh. I highly recommend going to check out what they have in the mornings. Also, the pastries and bread do not all come out first thing in the morning, so even if you are the first one around, you might have to wait a bit for the pastries or your desired bread to be finished and ready. read more

Their croissants are lovely-the way they should be made, flaky, delicate with substance-the almond ones and green chile&cheese are great, have not tried the chocolate ones yet. Their breads (the potato bread and rustic loaf , crusty, chewy and delicious, as well as their berry scones. Their basic coffee is a perfect match to their baked products. Used to be my fav spot for quiche but they were shut down for health violations, which means they were given plenty of warning to address the rodent issue!!! It's really gross. And, my mom is undergoing chemo so I definitely will not be back. As of 4/29 the report says they didn't observe rodents at that time, the detailed report is pretty telling. Best bakery ever! Their bisquits are a current addiction at our house. The pesto ring is amazing, and sells quickly so last week I ordered and picked up today. We have tried several breads and are always happy. I reluctantly share our order with my parents, and always consider not sharing because it is so good! Great location for enjoying coffee and delicious bread snack on the patio in the NM sun right off of central. Staff is friendly and helpful in deciding what baked good will pair well with dinner. We got half a loaf of Pear and Pepper corn, which was super interesting and tasty. We also picked up muffins and cinnamon rolls for breakfast the next day, and while the cinnamon rolls were dry and disappointing and muffins were dense and moist and delicious. The real gem was the Nigella seed bread, which was truly amazing. The loaf is entirely covered in the spice and is frankly one of the best things I've tasted ever. We used it to dip in soup for dinner and were totally satisfied. It came only in a little baguette like loaf and we wish they made a larger one so we could use it for sandwiches! read more

This place is just ADORABLE. I love the mid century decore and the big picture windows. The outdoor seating is lovely too. I got the baguette with black sesame seeds and a coffee. But, in the spirit of Yelp and small business, it's important to constructively convey experience in the spirit of raising the bar on quality. I love bakeries. I love the passion and dedication to awake before dawn and toil away at a hot oven for hours, to provide sweet and savory delights for customers who are just beginning their day. I came here early and, being on the opposite side of town from my house, I came as often as I wanted to make the trip. Everything was superb. It was obvious word got around at this exciting quality option for baked goods! Then...it got really busy. I began seeing random people baking the goods. Employees began looking unfamiliar, like they were not sticking around. My lattes were not as tasty and/or the order was wrong. Wrong size cup, no extra shot or once, they gave my drink to someone else and I was left with a hot tea. Oh they would make it again, but they actually said they would make the three or four ahead of my replacement latte! Then...the bakery items were burned. They wouldn't give you one NOT in the case that was not burned. This became common. Today, I go in at 1:05 PM--they close a 2:00 PM. The chalkboard sign with the 2-3 lunch offerings had a new message on it: Serving lunch until 1:00 PM! That was knew. I drove ALL THEY WAY FROM THE OTHER SIDE OF TOWN. I asked kindly, if they could please just put one more sandwich out, being it was 1:05. The gal went and checked--she could barely look me in the eye as she stated, it would not be possible to get that sandwich. I said what about the other one? Nope. It was 1:05. Ihatov is in walking distance of our home; but we really enjoyed them being at The Railyards over the summer. Everything we have tried is fresh and delicious; we're very fond of the onion loaf and scones. Their staff is also so very kind. I would give this place more stars if I could. Amazing customer service - I am vegan and my partner is not, and they have plenty of options for both. The girl at the counter was extremely sweet, and walked us through options for both of us. I got the buckwheat loaf and my partner got the chile cheese crossiant and OH MY GOD. I tried a tiny bite of his croissant and it was hands DOWN the best croissant I've had in NM, but also as a whole in a long long time. The buckwheat loaf was hearty, a perfect blend of soft and crunchy, and a gorgeous earthy flavor. And then. The coffee. Wowza, the coffee. Bold, clean, nutty and deeply flavorful. Again, they have vegan non-dairy options for your coffee. I got an iced oat milk latte with their in-house simple syrup and it was perfect. My partner drinks his coffee hot and black and was so happy with it that he just sat in his seat grinning with satisfaction. All enjoyed on their beautiful patio in the sun.
