Me and my family went to IHOP on Broadway in Chula Vista tonight. We had a $25.00 gift card we received from a friend. We all ordered a side salad with our dinner. Each salad was 99 cents extra, good price but all it was was greens with a few different sizes of red onion. A salad to me is greens, tomatoes, cucumbers, onion, cheese and maybe croutons. Denny's has an awesome and good size side salad. Myself and my daughter ordered the cheeseburger slider trio, it was pretty good, it came with a dill pickle spear. One of the tomatoes on mine had a hard brown core on it, ugh! My partner ordered the tilapia dinner. She gives it an 8. Service was ok. On a more positive note I received a Military discount. I've been to this IHOP before and the costumer service is good but today it was one of the worst by far!!! To start off the guy who sat us threw our menus on the table. Moving on to our server she was nice but never checked on us once after we got our food. She just kept walking past by us and never asked if we needed anything. I'd say we waited for a good half hour to see if she would come to us but instead we got her attention and asked for the bill. Overall none of the employees checked on us and was very distraught. Jazmine was our server on a Sunday morning. I had the French brioche with berries, scrambled eggs, hash brown and bacon. When I got my food, my French brioche was drawing in the berry and sauce. I should've asked for the berries on the side because the sweetness was a bit overbearing. The eggs were your standard scrambled eggs. A little Tapatio and I'm good. The hash browns were a little undercooked though. I didn't enjoy it as much. Also, the water is really watered down. I need about 3-4 cups before I started "waking up". Jazmine was a nice server. The service was good. Kudos to the waiter who served us. I'm just pissed off when my husband paid with his credit card to the lady cashier. It's either she was daydreaming or not paying attention to what she was doing. She gave the receipt to my husband but she didn't give back the credit card. I was in the restroom at that time. So when I got out my husband was waiting at the front door. The lady could have just said to my husband , "Hey, you forgot your credit card" when we were about to go out the door. But she did not say it. So we went to run some errands. But when my husband was paying to the store, he was looking at his wallet and thinking where his credit card was. So he paid cash instead. Ihop is always good but this specific location gave me exceptional service the other night. My friend and I showed up half an hour before closing (disappointed they're no longer 24 hours) and the waitress still gave us incredible customer service. She was very polite, very attentive and brought all the sauces to the table. So I tried my hashbrowns with hot sauce and my steak tips with A1 it was DELICIOUS. Top 3 experiences at ihop hands down. We're fans of the IHOP chain. This location does tend to be busy though. "Location. Location!" as they say. There are plenty of businesses and it's easy to get to for the community /residence. For that reason (it's so busy) we choose other locations. Also, my wife said the coffee is weak. Even after telling the staff that it was weak, they came back (presumably with freshly brewed coffee) only to give her weak coffee AGAIN. This is the 24 hour IHOP in town. Rolled in at 2am hungry after a night of shenanigans. This isn't the safest looking place at night. There was a transient asleep near the entrance and not the best crowd rolling out of here as we walked in (getting mad dogged by customers leaving for no apparent reason at that early in the morning is something you notice). The service was good. We were tended to pretty frequently. Then again me and my buddy were the only ones in the place at 2am. Food was typical IHOP food. Good and solid. Coming here after a family/friend gathering for New Years Eve, and not having eaten enough of the good Filipino food that was being served there, my cousin and wife wanted to get something to eat. Knowing it was New Years day and not many places would be open, I suggested this IHOP rather than our normal one on Plaza. After all it was in a city with a lower sales tax and was closer to where he lived. Overall the service was better than that found in National City, even if the food was the same. My cousin had a bacon omelette which he enjoyed cause it had bacon in it and the misses got sausage, eggs, and chocolate and mint chip pancakes which she also enjoyed.
