Honestly this IHOP made me download yelp that's how bad it was. Got seated and drinks almost immediately then waited an hour and a half for food to get out. They only have one server who is very kind and has her hands tied when it comes to getting food out. Almost everyone I can see is on there phones doing nothing besides the waiter, and she has to deal with everyone complaining about the wait times, I feel terrible and hope she finds a new job. This would be 0 stars if possible. Got there, 5 tables were occupied of about 40. 6 servers huddled together. Finally greeted by someone who then says they have to check if there are open tables. Mind you, there are no restrictions at this point. Get to our table and wait 15 minutes, with 0 servers coming to our table. The place was gross, tables not wiped off, no servers or runners in uniform. The manger had his boxers hanging out of his pants. Place is an absolute dump, I feel awful for the owner. They should get in there ASAP and clean house if they want a chance at keeping their business. Truly one of the grossest restaurants I've been, servers don't want to work, don't wear a uniform. I was very unpleased with my IHOP experience. As soon as we walked in we had a table of 9 and said we would split up if needed, they gave us attitude. The food and coffee are good it's just getting it to your table along with utensils and the coffee cup. They actual served me coffee in the jug without the cup. After I pointed it out she didn't bring a cup until I asked a different server. Food will take forever to come out and when it does it's hard because it's sat in the kitchen for half an hour. Not busy and plenty of servers but we finally left after no one would take our order. Two other tables left for same reason before we did. Food was typical iHOP. I'm kind of sad that the Madagascar themed pancake was removed but I got the Italian Cannoli pancake with bacon and hash browns. Do not go to IHOP on Assembly after 1 am because the staff does not care to even seat you. I was there Wednesday morning and watched one employee for over fifteen minutes just talking on the phone, twice she looked my way, but her personal phone call was more important. After 15 minutes I just left and bought food at CVS. But, this was the fourth time I visited this IHOP, and I could see that they just let dirty dishes pile up on the tables. Not like they are busy, but looking at someone else's dirty plates is rather unappetizing. Guess IHOP can afford a busboy. For starters I've been here a few times over the years. This place has been renovated since the last visit. At first when my family and I arrived. We were greeted, and then the greeter abruptly left and was no longer available. We waited and wondered what to do next. We were told to write down our own names for the waiting list. This was my first time eating here since the renovations. The greeting was welcoming from the hostesses. I was seated promptly only to be joined by my parents later. Our server was so nice. The other waitresses checked on us even if they were not our server. The food was good and hot. The best part was the young lady (lead staff) with a lot of energy and vocals sang happy birthday day to my mom! It was AWESOME! Working in a fun environment always makes the day go faster. God bless this restaurant. They were so short staffed, which I work in a restaurant so I completely understand. They did everything in our power to serve my boyfriend and I at 12AM after the USC football game and the MANAGER stepped in to serve us and was so kind. A party of 6 came in while we were eating and we're demanding, rude, and disrespected the manager telling him to "fix his collar" while he was running around doing literally EVERYTHING. I wish I knew this managers name, because he deserves a gold star for holding up the way he did. I have been here many times and this is the first time I have experienced hair in my food. I was not one strand, but a clump of hair cooked in my food. I have never been so disgusted. IHOP is one of my favorites anywhere I go. I always get the appetizer sampler because I like to dip my mozzarella sticks in maple syrup (it's delicious you should try it) I've always had great service at this location, and my food has always been delicious. The most recent time my boyfriend and I ate here, we waited almost ten minutes to be seated, the restaurant was packed. This is probably the worst service I've ever been given. It started with the wait time when the hostess told us that it would only be 20 minutes. One hour later we were finally sat and then continued to wait 15 minutes for our server to greet us. We were treated like trash by our server who also kept rolling her eyes at us and interrupting everything we had to say. I've read that people have had mixed experiences each visit, so I won't comment on this restaurant's consistency until I've visited more than once. What I will say is that the food was excellent and the service was good during my visit. The food didn't take long to come out and everything was great. The scrambled eggs were perfectly scrambled, light and fluffy. The ham, sausage, bacon, and pancakes were great. I have no complaints, it was a great breakfast meal. The worse part is that we were the only party when we first arrived and only one other party came in after we arrived. Y'all. This new renovation is the real deal. I've always been more of a WaHo (Waffle House, bear with me) or Original Pancake House kinda girl, but I have vague memories of coming to the old IHOP at this location and it being a very cramped, slightly scary place. No more. They have redone everything. There are plenty of booths (and let's face it, everybody wants a booth), attentive waitresses, and they leave a pitcher of coffee on the table. Yes, on the table so that you can refill to your heart's content. They have somehow combined breakfast essentials in every single way possible on their menu - it is COMPLETE. Yes, they have "healthy" options (under 600 cals, so, I mean, it could be worse) - whole wheat pancakes, fruit, etc. I haven't tried their lunch/dinner food though. For anyone who lives downtown or for those whose favorite meal of the day is breakfast (me!), I'd suggest coming on over before your day gets busy. The food is standard greasy spoon stuff, with LOTS of oil and sugar. The coffee is very good and cheap and the service on slower days isn't so bad. This particular restaurant, though, is about 1/2 the size of a normal IHOP, so it feels cramped and it's always full of either boisterous students during the day or obnoxious drunk college students at night... The cook does a pretty good job; I've never gotten food poisoning from here. i'll go every once in awhile when I need to fill up on white flour, sugar, caffeine and butter. The syrups are flavored sugar syrup, but their butter is pretty good. The waitresses are variable, but most are good. I would say that this IHOP isn't as clean as some others. read more
