This ihop is the most rude, slow, and limited breakfast place I've ever experienced. We waited in the lobby for 25 min and no one was at the front where many families were waiting to be seated or helped. There were servers talking in the back while many tables were open and people could have sat and ate. We weren't even seated until we asked after 20 minutes. When we finally were, our server was arguing with other customers and did not tend to us at all. He kept walking away every time we tried to order something or ask for things. Apparently they don't make iced coffee or have normal utensils which just means they don't wash their dishes. Our server was cursing, short answered, and not accommodating at all. We are extremely disappointed because we have friends visiting for the weekend and wanted to take them around campus and to a nice breakfast. I usually love iHop, but this was such a disappointment. We were seated and it took 10 minutes for our server to even come to our table, saying "I didn't know this was my table." We ordered our food and it took RIDICULOUSLY long. We waited for about an hour and a half for our food. Waited for an hour and 20 minutes while asking a few more times about the status of my order which the host claimed he was checking on and reassuring me it was almost ready. Thought the least I could do was write a sweet review for Lindsay working third shift tonight on 8/9/2018. My mother and I were running on fumes walking into this place, but there were quite a few people in there, and we understood they took priority over us. Lindsay got our beverages, came frequently to check on us, reminding us that we had not been forgotten, because the food was taking a while to come out, and we did not realize until Lindsay told us later, that the kitchen was short-staffed (her language was more customer-appropriate than that, I'm just trimming it down here), and that she was so sorry the food was taking so long. I didn't get the name of the cook on deck at that time, but whoever you are, you're a champ. Way to haul ass! Anyway, before I forget my point here, I haven't been to this location in at least ten years, and the last time I was here, it was a very, very different place. Took the family there New Year's Day upon arrival were told it would be a 10-15 minute wait, now problem as this it typical @ IHOP and without a doubt common on this holiday. After we were escorted to our table the hostess said several of their staff called in as well as a cook so expect it to be a bit slow, no problem as we weren't in too much of a rush. After a 20 minute wait our drink order was taken and our server said when she brought our drinks she'd take our meal order. We waited 30 minutes before I went to find our server and 10 minuets later she brought our drinks. My wife and sister in law ordered a pumpkin cappuccino, this had no resemblance of the picture on the table not to mention it was Luke warm at best and the coffee in the carafe was warm as well. The elderly couple sitting in the booth behind us sensed we weren't too happy and mentioned they've been waiting for their order for over an hour. Unfortunately when their server who was the same as ours finally brought their order it was wrong, the gentleman received a cheeseburger and I guess he ordered a breakfast type meal. I have eaten at many different IHOP's as I travel for work & my family typically eats there for holidays and over all these years have NEVER seen such horrible service & management or there lack of. As I mentioned earlier they stated they were "short staffed" but I counted at least 8 servers & 1 hostess, couldn't we who was in the back but I know for sure I have had far better service with less staff. If I could give 0 stars I would. We first walked in and there was a screaming fight going on over a to go order. We decided to stay away. Finally we get seated in the back and a group of people walk in the back door and start screaming at our waiter. A physical altercation broke out between the people who walked in and the waiter. The group involved a customer by going over to her table and screaming at her trying to start another physical altercation. Once they leave her alone they walked out the back door with the waiter and start fighting more when the waiter walks back in and announces he was hit in the face with a gun. The police were not called until that moment when the situation had already escalated too far. The blonde haired hostess who was definitely a teenager was the most professional worker in that entire restaurant. She was the only one who took any sort of initiative to calm down the group, as well as being the only one sane enough to call the police and was moving customers away from the scene. NEVER GO THERE UNLESS YOU WANT TO WANT TO WITNESS A CRIME SCENE. Should be closed down immediately. read more

To preface my review, the food was fine, although I did have an eye lash in my eggs, and our waitress was a sweet, very stressed young lady. However, I have never had to wait an hour and a half on a kitchen to make eggs and pancakes. The 20 minute way to be seated was completely understandably, being that it was the post-church crowd. However, the kitchen's utter negligence to produce food in a somewhat efficient manner to the back left corner of the restaurant was absolutely unacceptable. My family and I have always been IHOP fans, but after waiting near two hours for our meal, I can say that unfortunately, we will not be returning. I was not impressed by this establishment. When we first walked in we waited for 5 minutes to be seated, there was not an employee in sight and only one table of people. The lady who sat us and got our drinks was very friendly and nice but that's about as good as it got. It took our serve 10 minutes to even acknowledge we were at the table and even then she waited another 5 to take our order. She was very rude, while we were trying to tell her our order she was interrupting us to yell at the only other table in the restaurant to wait and she she'd get to them in a minute. She would only come out in the dinning room every 15-20 minutes and would disappear the rest of the time, we were only checked on once aside from ordering and receiving the food. We asked her for drink refills when our food came out and we never received them, we called her over to our table after 25 minutes she stated that she had forgotten and we ended up getting to go cups instead. She was running around acting like the dinning room was full and had no time for anything even though there's was never more than 4 tables the entire time we were there. The food was good but most of the tables were dirty and our booth had sticky residue all over the seats. When it came time for us to pay we were given the receipt and she said she'd be right back, I laid the payment on the table and we had to wait another 25 minutes just to leave. We ended up going to get her just so we could pay and leave. I was not pleased at all by this service and I did not like to feel that I was inconveniencing the staff just for a Dr Pepper refill. read more

Went to IHOP after my son's football game with my family of six. Wasn't terribly busy. Saw a group of 8 who were eating and about six other tables had maybe 2-3 folks at them. Sat down, then waited 20 minutes for our server (Ebony) to even show up at our table. She took our drink/food order at the same time. Waited nearly 50 minutes for food to show up. Spoke to a manager but she was zero help. Between our order and food coming to table, a server (Adrian) served FOUR other tables their food and assisted in refilling drinks and helping to get our food to us. Ebony was then taken off our table completely and another young lady whose name I can't recall services our table along with Adrian. Service began to get better until the food arrived. For some reason, Ebony came back and didn't bring complete orders, no salsa or sour cream with Colorado Omelets, no more refills, and NO UTENSILS. I complained again and the switch was made. When I got my New York cheesecake pancakes, the berries were frozen. The manager said she'd have them replaced but forgot. One of our servers (the one whose name I forgot) came back to the table and I asked about the order. She went and put it in and got pancakes about 20 minutes later. Now here's where it gets interesting.... the sorry manager sees that I tip Adrian specifically and she tells him to give his tip to the server who sucked and was removed from our table. I also tipped the young lady whose name I don't remember. At any rate, because he doesn't give up his tip - and also because he is helping with other tables - she fires him. On the spot. In front of everybody. The tables he was serving were left without a server. This young man was excellent and had an amazing spirit. So, I gave him a "bonus", passed along my business card if he's interested in other employment, hugged him and left. That manager and Ebony should both be terminated. I was in Columbia, SC for a work trip and this was my first experience ever with this Ihop so I had no prior biases. The location is close to campus so I expected that it would be somewhat decent. Man was I wrong. So I sit down at the back booth on the right side near the window and what do I see? I see a small farm of ants. Not very many but still gross if I'm eating there and its restaurants. Our waitress and the manager did not seem to care at all when I jumped up saying there were ants all over the table. Nonetheless I switched seats. So that was strike 1. Strike 2 came when our waitress came and said they were out of a few things. In my mind I am thinking a couple non essential items. Whew was I wrong. Here is the list of items they were out of: old fashioned syrup, chicken, hash browns, whipped cream, orange juice, fruit, and the philly cheesesteak!!! WTF!!! Buns did not make it onto the waitresses list but they must have been out because my burger came out on Texas Toast. This location is dirty and has awful slow service. I was not impressed. Ok I'm finally writing a review on this location because I've been here on a number occasions and felt the need to give one of the employees a special recognition. This place is a nice central location downtown in the Vista. My main negative about this place is the amount of waiting you will have to do depending on what time of day or night you come. Since this place is close to alot of bars and entertainment, it is the go-to place AFTER things have closed, especially on the weekends. I usually come during the day, where it is not that busy. I came here last night and waited about 5 minutes before someone approached us asking if we had been taken care of. When we said no, he immediately took our order without hesitating. He introduced himself as Adrian and was EXTREMELY pleasant. I've been in customer service for almost 18 years and I must say that he was one of my absolute FAVORITE waiters I've ever encountered. He was very professional, kind, represented the company well, made great suggestions, delivered our food and drinks quickly, and seemed to really enjoy his job! It is not often that I come across a gem in a fast paced environment, where people can sometimes be drunk and agitated easily about waiting so long, that still keeps a smile on his face and gives his complete best.
