Hoppy hour - page 2

After shopping at Maplewood Mall, it was around 2 pm and I needed lunch. I had passed by a small plaza with this IHOP and Kyoto Sushi. I had such a great experience at Kyoto Sushi in Eagan that it was temping doing an all-you-can-eat experience. I wasn't that hungry and chose IHOP. Looking back at it, I would have probably enjoyed Kyoto Sushi more. I found a parking spot fairly close to the main entrance on a frigid day. There was plenty of parking. I then walked into the eatery. I stood at the podium and waited to be seated. One woman seemed to be the only staff member attending to everyone in the dining room. She said that she'd be with me soon. Soon was well over ten minutes. To kill the time, I took photos, which caught this woman's attention. I couldn't tell whether she was upset that I was doing it or the fact that she was overworked. I frankly didn't care at this stage. Eventually, she did come over. She originally sat me at a small table with a hard seat if you are a lone diner. Um, no. I asked for a booth. I got one with a padded bench. I knew what I wanted to order. As expected, placing my order took some time, but it wasn't as bad as he wait to be seated. IHOP does have some good deals. I went with the following items: - Quick 2-egg breakfast - French toast - Diet Pepsi My Diet Pepsi came out first. I was happy to drink something. It was fine. Not spectacular. Not unrecognizable in taste. It was fine. My food came out maybe ten minutes later. There were more staff in the kitchen, which was a positive. I was hungry and was ready to dig in. I got my eggs over-medium. I got sausage links as my side and whole wheat toast. I never got any ketchup and flagging the woman for some would have taken forever. I was surprisingly good without any. Everything was yummy. The hashbrowns were perfect. I enjoyed my eggs. My toast came with jam, which I slathered on each slice. I then had my French toast. I normally don't have both toast and French toast, but shopping all morning worked up my appetite. It was yummy here. It came with warm syrup. The server came back with my bill. I put down my credit card, as the bill said to pay your server. Unfortunately, her payment machine prompted for my PIN, which was by the kitchen. When I got up, there was a low-hanging lamp above me. My head caught it. Luckily, it was dangling from the ceiling, so hitting my head didn't hurt at all. Maybe I've done it so many times in my life that I'm now numb when I hit my head on something overhead. Maybe it was so cold outside that my head was still frozen. We got my PIN sorted out and I successfully paid for my food. Yay! I dropped by the women's washroom before I left. The washroom was clean. No complaints. I could have had a better experience here. Staffing is definitely an issue, likely due to the pandemic. The food was great for an IHOP, but service needs help and improvement. (38)

The cupcake pancake is so delicious and plentiful. I placed an order over the phone. It was a smooth process, and my pancakes we're ready when I arrived. Everything was packed nicely in and bag! They included everything from napkins to silverware, all toppings necessary. I was so grateful the plasticware was not forgotten because some places I do curbside they don't place it in the bag and makes it hard to have a picnic. Although this time, I brought it home to enjoy.

My ham was dried like the sahara desert. My sausage under cook, and when I stuck my fork in it, it startes to Oink, Oink back at me.

Me and the wifey went to IHOP for breakfast, it is not good, it used to be good. They gave up on quality and their customer service. We were there early in the morning too and you would expect the food would be hot and it is not, they broke the eggs for my wife's egg benedict. And my food was nearly cold when it arrived. This is the last time we are eating at this IHOP, They need to close this store down. This is the one in Maplewood off Beam Ave. Come on WaffleHouse come and take over IHOP just like how Popeye's Restaurant takes over KFC. WaffleHouse the BOMB. They make fresh food and are always hot right off the grill. IHOp will not last any longer have you seen their star point it is 2 only this is an indication they will be out of business. I mean how are you going to run out of products like orange juice, it is as bad as running out of coffee. Get it together IHOP. or just give up and have WaffleHouse come take over. YOU GET 1 STAR FRON THIS CUSTOMER. Here is my and my wife's disgusting food.

I would skip stopping here. When you walk in you can clearly see all the floors are dirty. Do they own a vacuum? Our waiter was a bit shy or something and hard to understand. His pants were clearly dirty. All the food came lukewarm and two of us got the wrong food. They did remedy that but by that time I just wanted to leave. We had to ask for water refills and silverware. Not a good experience by any means. Oh yeah! And four of us bumped our heads on this light that hung right by our table.

IHOP more like Iwantmyfood.

Arrived to this function with a smile on our faces hoping to satisfy our hungry stomachs. We waited and waited, waited some more, and after 2 business days, we finally got our food. It was pretty good I guess.

We stopped in to have breakfast after our color run...it was the closet restaurant for breakfast. We got in right before it was busy. The service was ok, wasn't the fastest nor the slowest. Foods was ok, some seem home made but beats that I don't have to cook. It wa early in the morning so the lobby were clean. I gave it a 3 stars because the food did not wow me, service was alright.

chicken strips

i orders the chicken strips and fries. it was terrible. the chicken wasn't even strips it was chicken cut into strips. they tasted like old and burnt grease. my mom ordered a side of white toast and it was cold not even buttered. the service was okay but she wouldn't come over to us a lot.

The frozen hash browns served to us on our table.

All the other people I went with loved their food as well. The service was fast, and friendly, and I could tell the Chefs had a very strong handle on the kitchen, nothing leaves unless it's high quality. The ambiance was really nice, the space is very welcoming, and bright. I highly recommend trying this place out, I can tell it's going to become a neighborhood staple.

He was first cooking inside First Draft in North Loop, and now has his own spot in Saint Paul. I've tried a LOT here, but here's my top recs: - The best Fried Chicken sandwich you'll have in the Twin Cities (get the Nashville Hot) - Smash Burger (get the spicy voodoo sauce on it) - the layers of flavors and sauces are unmatched - Po Boy - classic and simple perfection - At one point, he made a bananas foster french toast that rocked our world. We got there at 4 PM and had about a 20 minute wait, which wasn't bad at all. When we left, I swear there were more people waiting outside than there were seated inside the restaurant. The process of getting our table was great (they definitely know what their doing) and our server was amazing, but if you're planning to go on a Friday night during fish fry season, be prepared for a wait. It was $20 for all-you-can-eat fish, but the portion sizes were pretty big to begin with, so we didn't order any extras. For sides, you could choose between fries or a baked potato, and for an extra charge, you could get au gratin potatoes. The fish was good, but the crispness level was lacking on both the fish and the fries--that's why I'm giving it 3 stars. Parking is a bit chaotic. You'll probably end up parking on a side street and walking a little bit. I will say they have a gorgeous patio! It wasn't open for dinner but the tables were all out so we could sit there with our drinks while we waiting for our table which was a nice bonus on a 70 degree day. Glad we tried a new place and happy fish fry season!

I swapped the fries for the potatoes, and I'm glad I did--they were really good. The appetizers were probably the highlight of the meal. Both the tomatoes and the cornbread were excellent. Service was friendly and quick. One funny moment: my boss ordered a cocktail and found out they were pre-made, so he couldn't customize it. That turned into the running joke for the rest of the night. Overall, it was a good experience. The restaurant is really nice inside, there's plenty of parking, and I'd come back.

Silverware was spotty as hell! Attention to details little ones like this are what make or break a restaurant. Service was fine. Nothing to write home about. My mom ordered the crab soup, which she loved. She also ordered the New Orleans shrimp bowl. The shrimp were wayyyyyyyy overcooked and extremely rubbery and hard. It's not good whenever you're over cooking your shrimp. It was inedible. The dirty rice and creole sauce were excellent. I don't think I'd put asparagus in this dish, but that's what it came with? Didn't think asparagus was a southern style vegetable? I ordered the special. It was brisket birria tacos. If you've ever ordered birria tacos before, you know it always comes with a beef consome for dipping your tacos in. This is why it's called birria tacos and any decent chef who's been educated about Mexican cuisine knows this! Ugh! Barely any cheese in the tacos. I was really missing the consome. I asked for it from the bartender and he said yeah it usually comes with it. I received a side dish of hot sauce instead? I'll post pics. For $80, over-rubbery shrimp and not birria tacos, was extremely underrated. I was very disappointed. Normally, I've enjoyed my last three visits. I felt like we overpaid. Please, if you're going to call it birria tacos, don't forget the consome! Any random recipe on the Internet calls for a beef broth for Birria tacos. Maybe next time don't call it Birria tacos call it brisket tacos.
