My party of 7 arrived on a Saturday night about 5. I was surprised that no one greeted us for a couple of minutes, but then a guy came and brought us to a table. (Side note, if the temperature is freezing, don't sit by the emergency exit.) The waiter was kind, helpful, and even though he seemed like this wasn't his normal job (maybe he's a cook?), he did well. And he was the only server I ever saw. The food was good. IHOP isn't typically my choice of dining, but I was happy. Most people ordered breakfast, I ordered the Jalapeno Kick Burger w/Onion Rings. After shopping at Maplewood Mall, it was around 2 pm and I needed lunch. I had passed by a small plaza with this IHOP and Kyoto Sushi. I had such a great experience at Kyoto Sushi in Eagan that it was temping doing an all-you-can-eat experience. I wasn't that hungry and chose IHOP. Looking back at it, I would have probably enjoyed Kyoto Sushi more. I found a parking spot fairly close to the main entrance on a frigid day. There was plenty of parking. I then walked into the eatery. I stood at the podium and waited to be seated. One woman seemed to be the only staff member attending to everyone in the dining room. She said that she'd be with me soon. Soon was well over ten minutes. To kill the time, I took photos, which caught this woman's attention. I couldn't tell whether she was upset that I was doing it or the fact that she was overworked. I frankly didn't care at this stage. Eventually, she did come over. She originally sat me at a small table with a hard seat if you are a lone diner. Um, no. I asked for a booth. I got one with a padded bench. I knew what I wanted to order. As expected, placing my order took some time, but it wasn't as bad as he wait to be seated. IHOP does have some good deals. I went with the following items: - Quick 2-egg breakfast - French toast - Diet Pepsi My Diet Pepsi came out first. I was happy to drink something. It was fine. Not spectacular. Not unrecognizable in taste. It was fine. My food came out maybe ten minutes later. There were more staff in the kitchen, which was a positive. I was hungry and was ready to dig in. I got my eggs over-medium. I got sausage links as my side and whole wheat toast. I never got any ketchup and flagging the woman for some would have taken forever. I was surprisingly good without any. Everything was yummy. The hashbrowns were perfect. I enjoyed my eggs. My toast came with jam, which I slathered on each slice. I then had my French toast. I normally don't have both toast and French toast, but shopping all morning worked up my appetite. It was yummy here. It came with warm syrup. The server came back with my bill. I put down my credit card, as the bill said to pay your server. Unfortunately, her payment machine prompted for my PIN, which was by the kitchen. When I got up, there was a low-hanging lamp above me. My head caught it. Luckily, it was dangling from the ceiling, so hitting my head didn't hurt at all. Maybe I've done it so many times in my life that I'm now numb when I hit my head on something overhead. Maybe it was so cold outside that my head was still frozen. We got my PIN sorted out and I successfully paid for my food. Yay! I dropped by the women's washroom before I left. The washroom was clean. No complaints. I could have had a better experience here. The cupcake pancake is so delicious and plentiful. I placed an order over the phone. It was a smooth process, and my pancakes we're ready when I arrived. Everything was packed nicely in and bag! They included everything from napkins to silverware, all toppings necessary. I was so grateful the plasticware was not forgotten because some places I do curbside they don't place it in the bag and makes it hard to have a picnic. Me and the wifey went to IHOP for breakfast, it is not good, it used to be good. They gave up on quality and their customer service. We were there early in the morning too and you would expect the food would be hot and it is not, they broke the eggs for my wife's egg benedict. And my food was nearly cold when it arrived. This is the last time we are eating at this IHOP, They need to close this store down. This is the one in Maplewood off Beam Ave. Come on WaffleHouse come and take over IHOP just like how Popeye's Restaurant takes over KFC. WaffleHouse the BOMB. I would skip stopping here. When you walk in you can clearly see all the floors are dirty. Do they own a vacuum? Our waiter was a bit shy or something and hard to understand. His pants were clearly dirty. All the food came lukewarm and two of us got the wrong food. They did remedy that but by that time I just wanted to leave. We saw the new crapes on the menu. Thought it would be a good dinner. We piled the family in the car drove all the way over to IHOP Oakdake to find they closed at 8pm. Website says 10pm. I then decided to call the Maplewood location figuring they might be open. I got put on hold and got a wonderful robotic message saying my call is important and it would be picked up by the next person, they told me this about 17 times until a voice finally came on said there was no one to answer and hung up on me. I freaking love IHOP. I'm a breakfast food for every meal kind of person. Love it. But oh my goodness this was a TERRIBLE experience. We ordered carry out. The pickup time was 12:07 but I figured because it was brunch time on a Sunday that I'd give an extra 20 minutes (I work in food service, I get it) I showed up after 12:30 and stood at the front desk for 8 minutes before any team member even looked my way. Not great but still, they were packed and had people sitting in the lobby, so that's forgivable in my book. I let her know I had curbside but saw how full the lot was and came in to grab it instead. She handed me my order, I handed her a 5$ bill and went on my merry way. I got home and the only condiments in the bag were 2 ramekins of syrup. We did not get any of the toppings which included: both types of sauce for the tres leches pancakes or the mixed berry and lemon ricotta for the French toast. I drove the 15 minutes back to get the toppings because I could have just made plain pancakes and French toast at home. We wanted the flavors that are supposed to come with the order. I get there only to be told "I'm pretty sure they were in the bag" which was frustrating because I'm 100% sure they weren't in the bag. Which is why I'm went all the way back to get them. I received my bag and was told they were out of the lemon ricotta. Coolcoolcool at least I'll have the mixed berries! Then I left which was a huge mistake on my part. I received blueberries instead of the mixed berry sauce for the French toast. I specifically ordered the lemon ricotta French toast instead of the lemon ricotta crepe because the F.T. Had the mixed berries and the crepes had blueberries but I do not like blueberries..... so obviously even more annoyed that I went back for the toppings for my french toast and didn't get either of the toppings that were supposed to be on my food. But wait! There's more.... Calming down and getting ready to eat only to find that I only got two pancakes when I ordered and paid for the full which is supposed to have four.. As I waited I used my friend's knife to butter my pancakes. The butter was rock hard. I noticed the butter was not melting. I touched the pancakes and they were stone cold. My 2 sausages were also cold. The 2 eggs were freshly cooked. After waiting for sometime I finally got up and got my own silverware from the wait stand behind the counter. Because the waitress was no where to be seen. My friend's food was equally cold when it arrived at the table. After around 15 minutes the waitress was kind enough to grace herself with her presents and say oh sorry I forgot about your silverware, I'll go get it now. (there was only 3 tables of people in the restaurant including us) she never noticing I now had silverware. She returned to our table with the silverware and noticed I had some. She asked where I got it? I told her and with a perturbed look on her face stated customer shouldn't be going back there and then asked how our food was? We told her the food was cold when it arrived at the table. The butter on the pancake still hadn't melted and we had eaten nothing. She said she was sorry and asked if we were done or if we needed boxes. We told her we weren't going to eat the food or pay for it since it was cold when it arrived. I asked for either hot food or we were leaving. She handed us the check without replying and walked away. We got up, leaving the check and cold food on the table without paying. Horrible service, I ordered eggs well done and hash browns were frozen and not even cooked , and was still placed on our table. My friend ordered well done eggs, and they were runny as hell. Ambiance is shitty, they play Latin music/Mexican music loudly. It does not feel like IHOP. I had to fight with the server about whether I ordered eggs with my order and if my friend ordered extra bread or not. My gfs order was the only one they got right. International house of pancakes I haven't seen one pancake on my table, and the manager took the "extra bread" we ordered didn't even get to eat it. I never recommend this to anybody. She sat and fed the people who came in after us even though we had been waiting for at least 45 minutes . One of my party waited 10 minutes for their order and the waiter gave it to the people behind us. We had to ask someone else for syrup since she was ignoring us. We then had to beg for the check and take home boxes. Then after all that, the waitress wouldn't take our payment and made someone else do it. She was extremely rude and ignored us. I have been disappointed the last 2 times that I've stopped in here. I used to go to IHOP frequently during my travels so have come to expect a certain level of consistent service at them. Both times recently even though the restaurant is less than half full service was slow and fairly inattentive to us. After ordering it was a measurable long time before our food was delivered. Even overheard one waitress tell a customer that if we come in the weekend we should plan for slow service. ARE YOU KIDDING? I love breakfast fare and I love that some places serve it up all day even more. I don't care that it's a chain as long as my meal is tasty and the experience is good. I have been satisfied everytime I've visited this location. Service has always been really good, tables have been clean, beverages constantly refilled and food is always filling. Sometimes a bit too filling. Their omelletes are gigantic and can easily be turned into another meal. I tried the steak omellette which was pretty good. Sure the meat is not grade A prime, but it did the trick.( It tastes like the fajita meat they use in Mexican food.) It was stuffed to the gills with meat, hashbrowns, vegetables and cheese. Omelletes also come with 3 light and fluffy pancakes. I've been to plenty of breakfast places that skimp on the ingredients inside but love to charge the inflated price and their omellettes are half the size. This place delivered what I was looking for. We normally have a great experience at this Ihop. Jessica, Matthew, Stephanie and many other staff make every experience we have great and they always have our food and beverages on our table in an expedient manner and they are always SO GOOD to our boys. Last night was a horrendous experience. Monique was the server on shift. We did not receive water for an hour after we were seated. We did not receive our food for two hours - we had to ask the cook on staff for help. She also tried to charge us for our two kids meals, but we refused to pay for them as the advertisement indicated that kids eat free with the correct number of adult meals purchased. She refused service to a Caucasian couple after they had waited two hours, stating that her manager had said she didn't have to serve them because they were racist. We never heard a single racist statement come from this couple. She also refused to give the couple her name. We will refuse to have Monique as our waitress. read more

I had low expectations coming to this IHOP because in the past, I didn't have a great experience either. Even though we were seated right away around 11-12, it took awhile for us to put our order in. When we finally did, our food didn't come out for 35-40 minutes. I get that it's busy and it's the breakfast rush, but I've gone to other restaurants and it wasn't this bad. If the food was hot and fresh, I would be happier. Our food was cold. My eggs and my hash browns were cold as if it's been sitting out on the counter for some time. Thanks to the Manager Only.... It goes downhill from there. We arrived at the iHOP and I was dying to have my usual Sirloin Tips - Medium Well, Extra Mushrooms and Onions, Eggs Over Medium. I have devoured this meal so many times, I can't recall the last time I have ordered anything other than this dish the same way in over 12 different states in several dozen cities across the country. So it's safe to say... I know what I like and how I want it prepared. We were seated by a lovely hostess and 15 mins later at least, no server. Strike 1 Finally, a tall, blonde server, (I won't give her name as this review is not intended to be malicious) came to our table and apologized as she was busy taking care a larger group, she explained, as if myself and two associates were insignificant. Strike 2 So two of us ordered the same dish... Yes the Sirloin Tips... and it was ordered exactly the same way as I have for the last several years. Never once changing anything as I have stated above. Order arrives, steak is well done and dry; so are the eggs and no extra onions or mushrooms. You can only imagine how livid I was at this time. Strike 3, 4, 5 and 6. Good grief! The server returned and I asked her about my order and she suggested it be redone, but we didn't have the time to wait and there was no way I was going to send food back to the kitchen. I simply told her "this has to be one of the worse experiences I've had in an iHOP. Messing up a person's order is the worse thing you can ever do. Especially if it's something they eat every single time they visit that restaurant". It was the only reason we went there. For my favourite dish at iHOP. So the server must have spoken to the Manager and she returned saying that he/she manager would pay for the bill. Manager never came over, which he/she should have but he/she did the right thing. I don't know if the manager was male or female as they never came over, but appreciate the offer. However, a free meal is not what we were looking for. I wanted to enjoy my favourite meal at iHOP the way I have enjoyed it for several years, in several states and countless of other cities. The iHOP in Alamogordo NM is the only other place that tops this horrific experience in terms of awful service AND failing on my order. It was my birthday and my staff took me where I wanted to go for dinner I chose iHOP there since we were working there for the week. They burnt the steak there.... Need I say more? If I could give this place less than one star, I would. I am not a big fan of chain restaurants to begin with and especially not IHOP but I had bought a twin cities deal coupon ($10 for $20) just because..so we used it on a late Saturday morning. She said it was fine but she was starving. I took one bite of mine and hated it. I opened it up, it was cold, the ingredients inside were barely cooked. The pancakes were somewhat hard and not hot. I told the waitress my omelet was not good and she took it back into the kitchen and brought it back, saying that's how it is....OK...... I did not eat it. I ate my pancakes since it was the better part of the breakfast. The waitress, when she noticed I did not eat any of my omelet did at least state to me. "You are not happy with it..".Well...ummm..No, that was pretty clear when I sent it back to the kitchen. I was amazed my daughter ate hers as i thought hers looked as bad as mine. Later that day, she did say hers was pretty gross too but she was starving so she ate it. She's 15 and has the appetite of a construction worker so she basically can stomach just about anything. I am so glad I had that certificate because this meal was not worth more than five dollars. This place is disgusting. The bathrooms are dirty, the floors and tables are dirty and the waitresses looked overworked. The last time I sent a meal back was about 8 years ago and it was because the chicken was raw inside just to let you know that I am not one that commonly sends food back to the kitchen.
