The servers need more training in how to service their customers. My boyfriend came in on Veterans day and did not have a good experience. He asked the server for eggs over easy and was told that the their ihop ran out of over easy eggs. WHAT?? He asked do you have eggs the server stated yes (so why can't I have over easy eggs). We have had breakfast at this location before and was served eggs over easy. As a veteran he was not given the free veteran breakfast and was told that he had to pay the regular price and was given a discount of only $1.17. This has been the most horrible restaurant experience. This location is horrible. This is the service they give veterans on veterans day. I walked in at 10:48am, a waitress asked to take my To-Go order (Two 5.99 weekday specials). After waiting for about 15 mins another young lady asked if I had been helped, I told her yes. This is the worst restaurant that I have been to in my entire life. Once we were seated we asked our waiter to give us 5 mins so that we decide what we wanted to eat. These 5 mins turned into a whole hour! In the meantime my male friend went to go to the bath room and reported that he had to stop an employee from walking out without washing their hands. TO make matters worse our waiter had not given us the proper menus so when he did come back an Hour later...we had to change our order because he failed to give us the proper selection. When the food did come out it was disgusting and poorly prepared. Then I went to the woman's bathroom and yet again another employee did not wash her hands after coming out the stall. We have visited this location several time last year. Food has always been great! However the evening of Nov. 24th 2012 @ 9pm we were shocked to see a Roach crawling on the ledge of the booth in which we were sitting at. My Wife screamed out I grab a napkin and kill the critter. The manager came over and was wonder what took place. I informed him of the roach in which the waitress was present and she was shocked. The manager asked as if it was a joke and laugh it off. Food is dull and unappetizing. Service is absolutely hit or miss.....honestly most times misses. They get pretty busy during the weekends which only leads to more mistakes and poor service. One of the worst services I've had in my life! First of all when we were seated it took someone 5 minutes just to ask us for our drink order, then we we did receive our drinks it took another 30 minutes for anyone to even ask if someone had taken care of us which was obvious that no one had spoken to us since we still had the menus. Then once we were taken care of, by someone who wasn't waiting in our section might I add, we waited an hour for food that never came, the manager even came over and said that the kitchen was backed up which was a lie as there were people who had come in after us getting there food right away. First trip was enough to make me make adjustments to when I go. First things first its 7:30 am ish when me and my roomate arrived, one person was at the counter there were three patrons seated eating, and the manager/owner bringing out orders. She ordered first, in which he some how overcharged her and had already swiped her card. She did receive a complimentary drink when she addressed the manager or perhaps owner of the mishap yet he seemed reluctant. I ordered a international crepe, with a cup of cranberry juice, and a extra utensil pack. When I received my order which took longer than normal, there was NO granola and NO yogurt (which btw they did not let me know of prior to ordering) so I had basically a thin pancake and fruit that clearly wasnt fresh (the bananas where loud and were already browning as though they had been sitting out). The cashier forgot my drink, which he went back and got, and also my utensil which he had to make another trip to get. I have been a waitress and a cashier before, I understand its hard esp as the only one on duty, BUT he was way too distracted for my liking, If I return, as I advise others who see this, PLEASE be very observant and careful when you go and how many ppl are on duty, because if they are just opening and he's screwing up, his mind is not in the cashier game. read more

This restaurant is normally my family's favorite go to. However, todays service and meals were terrible!! The waitress was nice and pleasent, but she took longer to bring us our drinks. As we were waiting for our food, we were prevy to one of the waitresses yelling at another server. She spoke very loudly and was very rude to the customers as well. Our daughter food was ok, but the kitchen completely messed up my husband order. His meal came out extremely fast, but his food was ice cold! My salad took the longest and seemed to be good, but as I moved the cob salad around I found salad at the bottom with ranch dressing on it. This was a major problem because I asked for honey mustard instead of ranch dressing. Which ment they gave me an old salad someone else sent back or the salad was premade and they tried to cover it up. Either way that was enough for us to end our dinner and leave. It is about time I review this IHOP. They have excellent service. I usually don't go here in the morning though. I am a night owl and sometimes I can only see my boyfriend at night, so this is our go-to spot to eat! Waiters are attentive and the manager checks on customers. It has a very homey atmosphere to me and the food is great. Waiters have encouraged me to do the survey on the receipt to get free pancakes and tell me about events that happen on certain days in the restaurant. They also allow me to do my substitutions! I love pancakes and I love chicken and they have always been able to swap out my chicken and waffles for chicken and pancakes without grief! Took a while for "the manager" to come out, and when he did, he presented much less competent than the waiter. I came on a Sunday around brunch time so I expected a wait, but the wait wasn't that bad. Maybe 10 mins they were flipping tables fast. The first part of my service experience was pretty well with the wait being minimal. I was seated and waited for my waiter, who by the way never came, instead the manager. He asked if I had been helped and I said no. He ended up taking my order and I thanked him. I waited a while for my food and it came out wrong. I said chocolate chip pancakes they came back with chocolate pancakes? Wait, I ordered chocolate chip not chocolate pancakes. So the manager saw my order and sent it back for the correct one. I was later compensated but I appreciate the effort made by management to intervene. That really means a lot to customers. I have been to all of IHOP within 5 miles of the nearest one to me in Colmar Manor MD. This one compares very favorably to the one in Greenbelt (the second best). I do not love an eating place I love my 6 grands, my 4 kids most of the time. I think my good friends Louis, Maria a manager who is a single mother raising 3 boys who are nearing adulthood, James the greater who holds 2 jobs and with his wife raising 7 children. Once a year I give James blessing as a patriarch in the Old Testament--this is a tradition of Roman Catholics especially those trained by Jesuits or formed by the Catholic Charismatic renewal. I am both my Protestant wife received the Holy Spirit in the CCR way when she was pregnant with our first child Jesse 42 years. Only one of my 4 kids Amy receive the Catholic trifecta (baptism,confirmation,communion). My dad's grandpa was a Lutheran minister and those are the 3 Lutheran sacraments. Our extended family of 12 celebrated at an IHOP owned by this brother (Amy and I were the only Catholics). Amy's older sister is a Disciple of Christ minister. People come to this place to celebrate funerals and birthdays. Two years ago a small Protestant family who were experiencing the shock of the loss of their brother moved me to pay for their meal. I tried to hide but they caught me they had the same look as i had when i gave the memorial service for my beloved wife 10 years ago. I will go here about 2 to six times a month since June 2015 when my Chinese-American finance Charlene broke up with me and broke my heart. She died at 67 years of age based on the book Isiah if she had stayed with me she would have lived to be 82 roughly the age of her natural life span given the poverty she lived in when she was a young girl in Taiwan. I am very demanding of the food i eat and all my breakfasts are special orders i give special instructions and if they miss the boat i send the food back and they fix it. James, Maria and Louis get it right the first time as they are very experienced. There 5 others who are also very good. If i get a Newbie I help train them. I complain to the manager if needed (which is rare) and the owner is frequently there. I would happily take my grands here for ice cream but 4 are too far away as in California for 2. I never eat the pancakes here--if you want pancakes go to the Pancake house less than a mile away and you get the excellence of family run cooperative and 1000 calories a pancake. At my age that is usually too much unless I take a date and share. What Ted Williams is to baseball hitters what this IHOP to IHOPS. The owner and managers work as hard as Ted did to be the only ball player in the modern era to hit over 400. Ted was a marine in WW2 and Korea. If you are a marine or former NFL lineman go to the Pancake house. If you an ex-High school quality basketball player or sweet lovers Black or Hispanic or Anglo go to this IHOP. The service was so bad at the Greenbelt store of the brother i made a date with a Black Hispanic and her chaperone. If you already have a lady take her here. This is the LOVE IHOP! This is one of the worst ihop I have ever been too! And I love eating at ihop. I order a Philly cheesesteak and it was not good. They are not that busy but the service is a bit slow.
