I hadn't been to a diner, much less a chain diner, in at least a decade. Outside of hangover food, it simply wasn't a thing. And even then I usually went for JITB. Cut to now, and my daughter says she wants birthday pancakes at IHOP. She said she's never been there and wants to try it out. Who am I to say no to a birthday request. It was around 8am on a Saturday, and the place was about 50% full. We were immediately greeted and led to a booth for four. We had a lovely lady as a server. She was busy, but took great care of us. With the coffee, you get an insulated carafe of hot coffee so you don't go thirsty. The only teeny gripe was that we needed more Splenda for the coffee and couldn't get our server's attention. I just grabbed some off another sugar holder. To be fair, she had a ton of tables and never stopped moving. I was pleasantly surprised at the portion size! All of our plates were full, and the food was delicious. Way better than I expected. The fries were crisp, the bacon cooked nicely, the Cinnabon pancakes were phenomenal, and the fried chicken sandwich filling. As for ambience, well, there's not much to see unless you people watch. Oh my--this place was packed on a Sunday morning! Every table was full, but the wait for our party of five was surprisingly quick. Our server was super sweet and made the experience even better. We came in for a simple pancake fix, and they totally delivered--fluffy, delicious, and a big hit with the kids. My preteen went up to put our name on the list to wait this morning . Keyla at the register was immediately side eying and ignoring her . When I walked up after seeing this she finally acknowledged her . My daughter was giving her our info such as name and number I saw her entering the number in incorrectly 2 x and advised her it was wrong . Finally she entered it right and told us 10-20 min . People kept getting sat that came in before and after us . We ultimately became the only people waiting . After almost 30 min we told a young guy who was at the register we had been waiting and hadn't been called . He checked and said we weren't on the list and laughed . The manager walked up as we were talking and said I have a table sit them there . Been here before and it's never been great . It's more so convenient being so close to the mall . But today's experience was extremely unprofessional. From the eye rolls , ignoring and ultimately not submitting our info to the wait list . They also offer the bottomless pancakes right now but that's for people with voracious appetite. I like that they have 4 kinds of syrup. I've tried them all and my favorite is the butter pecan! Ihop is a chain and there are a lot of them. Some are great, some not so much. This one is excellent. The place is always clean and the service is great. We have dined there. This time we did pick up for a nearby park and had the best time. The food was perfect. We all had different breakfast items. I love their pancakes and eggs with has browns. My wife wanted to grab lunch here while we were in the plaza doing some shopping. It been years since I went to a IHop and I never been to this location even though I come to the plaza this place is in a bunch of time. I found parking easily today when we came during lunch time. They were not busy at all so we got seated quick. My wife went with their omelette and also got pancakes as well. She like her food and I went with the Cali Roasted Turkey Melt with fries. I saw that it came with multi grain bread and asked if I could do white toast instead which was fine. I thought the Cali roasted turkey melt was alright but I would say other places have better sandwiches. IHOP in Northridge is located in a small strip mall next to a Japanese grocery store, Thai restaurant, Chinese bakery and a host of other competing service and food centers on Tampa and Northridge. I ordered the usual pancakes, sausage, orange juice, a couple of strips of bacon and coffee. The pancakes were plump and freshly cooked, warm to the touch and creamy to the taste, as usual. Bacon is ah, similar to what they serve along with the usual sausage patties in the past... coffee was bland today but usually, better tasting way back, perhaps had the last batch of the morning routine. Parking is plentiful and not much crowd on a Tuesday morning. Customer service is tops, the usual good morning is still there, and the tables and restaurant ambiance is mainstream American, perfect. Their bathroom is also clean, typical American restaurant and the floor landscape is also equally clean. To me, what I would really prefer is a little music when having breakfast and I mean soft, quite and calming music which would really tone my thoughts down before I head home to sleep, after a very long night at work. Overall, it's a really cool breakfast nook for anyone who wants the usual Americana in their morning routines, and simple to order and enjoy. It's the first time I've seen it completely packed. They use Yelp's texting system, so that's nice, and we were seated way faster than what Yelp predicted. (Yelp said 30 min, we were seated in under 10) Ambiance is like a family diner, very standard iHop- similar to Denny's or Coco's if you have never been. Service was actually faster during this busy time. For those who know me, I always judge a restaurant's restroom. I don't like that it requires a code to enter the two stall women's restroom. But it was fully stocked and very clean despite the busy crowded restaurant, so maybe there is method to their madness. This is the worst IHOP. It takes forever for waitstaff to come and get your drink order. Then it takes forever to get your drinks. I would make sure you order your food from the start or when you get your drinks, because you guessed it, IT'S GOING TO TAKE FOREVER for the waitstaff to come back and get your food order and then forever to get your food. They give the smallest glasses of water (and juice) and when you ask for a refill, they either forget or take forever to bring it. The staff here just doesn't care, they hardly come by the table at all to ask if you need anything. And to get your check you have to constantly be in the lookout for your waiter/waitress to flag them down, otherwise you will be sitting there forever. The waitress we got this last time was rude, and brought us our food after it was clearly sitting and had gotten cold. This has happened the last probably 4-5 times I've gone here. This was my LAST time, I've learned my lesson. I'm tired of giving my money to places that make me feel like a burden or I don't feel welcomed. This is less of a food review and more of a customer service complaint. My family and I decided to come here on Christmas morning to get breakfast. My wife asked me to go inside and get us a table while she waited in the car with the kids, since they are very young and tend to run around. I went inside and waited for the hostess to ask how many people were in my party. When it was my turn, I said two adults and two kids. She replied, "Okay, we have a table ready," and then asked if everyone in my group was present. I told her my wife and kids were outside in the parking lot and that my wife was bringing them in. She then said that the entire party had to be present in order to be seated. Immediately after that, she asked the person behind me how many people were in their party and proceeded to seat them ahead of me, even though they were behind me in line. I told the hostess that wasn't how it should work, and she responded by saying, "That's the rule today." I understand that it was Christmas, but where was the Christmas spirit? Instead of receiving quality customer service, I was met with a rude attitude from the girl behind the counter and one of the older lady servers as well. Once my wife and kids came inside, we were finally seated. At that point, I began noticing other issues around the restaurant. For example, it had rained heavily the night before, and there was water leaking from the roof onto the floor right where the servers were walking out of the kitchen with food. If water is leaking from the roof, that raises concerns about possible damage and even mold growth above the ceiling. Is this building not being properly maintained to code? Are customers expected to eat food coming from a kitchen that may have mold in the ceiling? That is completely unacceptable. I will not be coming back here again, and I highly recommend that anyone looking for breakfast go somewhere else whether it's the Denny's across the street or any other IHOP besides this one. The staff here is extremely rude, and the building appears to be falling apart and not properly maintained. read more

It's been ages, since I have been to an IHOP. Had to visit because their menus have undergone several changes over the years. Apart from the customary eggs, pancakes and French toasts, they have biscuits, crepes, Benedicts and even a special menu with several omelette choices. The menus themselves are bright and colorful, with mouthwatering pictures of both their breakfast and lunch/dinner choices that are available 24 hours. We ordered several items. The build your own omelette with hash browns, bacon, cheese and green peppers was a hit. The French toast combo with scrambled eggs, bacon and hash browns needed more work on the toast itself. The Cinnamon bun crepes were well presented. I just had an appetizer, the jalapeño cheese bites (6 of them for $10.99). They were perfectly breaded, nice and crispy on the outside, with a half cut piece of jalapeño and melted cheddar on the inside. This was fantastic. Our server was Marilyn and she provided informative, timely, professional service that was of high quality and delivered in superb fashion. Need to go back to try more of the menus. read more

Last time I come to this IHop, service was terrible. We came in and they sat us down no one ever came by to ask what we wanted to drink or take our order. When we finally had a waitress come it was 25 minutes of wait. We ordered 2 orders of pancakes simple fast nope we waited almost 40 minutes still nothing came out yet 2 other parties who sat after us had there drinks and food and we couldn't even get our simple order of pankcakes. What made it worse was that the 3 different waitresses walked by a few times acknowledge us sitting there but not once did they stop to ask if we had been attended, this is what led me to write this review.
