We've heard a lot about this place and finally decided to try it, especially since we always want to support Filipino businesses. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. I ordered the Spam meal, but it was extremely salty, and the rice portion was quite small and poorly presented. The café also has very poor ventilation, so you leave smelling strongly of fried oil. I was looking for a good coffee shop around this area so I decided to try this spot. The pros are that the staff are welcoming and kind, there are plenty of seating areas, and I like that it's a Filipino cafe. However, it was very stuffy inside and your hair ends up smelling like the oils they use for cooking. I ordered the campfire latte and it was ok. I wasn't getting too much of the coffee flavor and it tasted more like chocolate milk to me with watered down coffee. It could use other flavors imo. Always love coming here! The staff are always so friendly and welcoming and willing to answer questions and provide recommendations. The staff were friendly, and I loved that they had community vendors propped up at the time we visited. I don't know how this place has such high reviews, it was the worst place I've ever ordered food at. Right when you walk in it is so smokey in there and it smells like something is burning... I waited 45+ minutes for 2 matcha lattes, a french toast, and 1 other sandwich. Everything is on the expensive side compared to other cafes nearby. The french toast was still undercooked even though it took this long. The bacon in the sandwich was so burnt. The matcha tasted like seaweed--yes literally seaweed! I've never experienced that before. I will include pictures of the poor color it had, I wish I could give this place zero stars. The service was fantastic, there were two guys making the drink and they were very friendly and made me feel welcomed at the shop. The ambiance was also very nice, lots a people were there working or studying on their laptops. Service and ambiance were top notch. There is also a small parking lot on the side when you turn into the alley. I ordered an iced matcha latte. Unfortunately the latte was not good, perhaps they should consider taking it off their menu if the quality is not up to par. The latte was so so bitter, it tasted like they put too much of the non-ceremonial matcha from Costco. I did drink most of it but when I got to almost the bottom I couldn't finish it, it was chalky and the matcha was not dissolved properly. I could tell it wasn't going to be good as soon as I saw the color. My drink with oatmilk and tip came out to $9. Now a days, it's not an outrageous price for a good coffee shop drink but it is when the quality is not there. Overall I'm giving it 4 stars because again, the ambiance and service were great and all their other menu items look quite delicious. read more

I was pretty disappointed with our experience. We came for lunch, but they had stopped accepting orders because they were so backed up. It was frustrating to make the trip only to be turned away during the middle of the lunch rush. It also seemed like they were understaffed, which made the situation even more disappointing. Friendly staff and great drinks, but if you come for food expect a wait on a Saturday. Our drinks came out very quick, but a party before us waited 40 mins for their food and we figured we shouldn't be too far off, about an hour in we noticed people after us received their order before us. When i asked about my order i guess another person misheard their name and accidentally took my order (which happens) but after letting them know other people's orders were still sent out and similar to our order which was a beef tapa plate and Sean's burrito. An hour and 15 mins in I had to go up and ask for a refund because we had to go and I was told they just started my order and I saw the order on the end of the line. Such a chill little breakfast nook / cafe. This place is a FIVE STAR, LOCAL FAMILY-OWNED, HIDDEN GEM. I was getting something installed on my car across the street and had to wait, so I decided to check this place out. I didn't know what I wanted to eat, but I thought I was in the mood for a late breakfast. I didn't want to read the menu for too long because I always end up getting the same things--usually breakfast sandwiches or eggs Benedict or something like that. I kinda just picked something on the menu. I read a few things that it had and it didn't sound bad so I ordered it. It was a plate with 1 fried egg, some rice, and 3 chicken patties. I can't find the name on the menu photos, but it was something like "Longhasa plate" or something like that. As I waited for my plate, I noticed how nice, tranquil, quiet and relaxing this establishment was. I also noticed how young the gentleman that took my order and prepared my plate with total care and attention seemed to be. And yet, he was cooking my eggs and patties with full focus, full transparency, and total professionalism--just a few feet from me. I didn't order any coffee because I already had my travel mug. So here's the funny story: The gentleman hands me my meal, and honestly it didn't look bad, I just wasn't sure why I had ordered a plate with rice. I felt like I maybe should've taken more time to read what I was ordering... but it was a little too late. I got up and walked over to the hot sauces and grabbed one that looked good, because I like hot sauce and initially thought I'd like some. So I try the egg. It was actually cooked perfectly and I didn't even tell him how I like my yolk (cooked but still runny). Then I try a tiny piece of patty--and at first I was caught off guard because this wasn't anything I had ever eaten before. It was sweet, and delicious.... And that's when it occurred to me... Mix it all up. And yes, that was the secret to the plate. Instructions should come with this plate. Sooo dang good! And I never touched my hot sauce! I really enjoyed breaking up the patties into bits and doing the same with the egg, and then mixing the rice. And the dish actually comes with a little salsa container with a sweet relish--and it's definitely meant to be mixed in as well. I think the chicken patties had some nuts in them. I'm not sure, so maybe careful with nut allergies--maybe ask first. I'm guessing they would warn if there was an allergen in their food, but it was delicious and I'm not allergic to nuts so I'm not worried about it, but maybe you are so double check. Egg was cooked to perfection. I wasn't even asked how I wanted it. Maybe they should ask, but they didn't need to with me. Such a chill little spot on Reseda blvd. I saw about 3 other people in there all on their laptops. I was the loudest guy there--praising the cook, and the business. Very reasonably priced. Plenty of seating. Son was cook, his sister was backup & support. Little bro made a quick appearance said hi to big bro as he worked. Bro acknowledged his little sibling lovingly. I got the dirty Ube latte 2.0 (with ube cold foam) and my friend got the Abuela latte with oat milk. Normally I don't trust all places with Ube, but this one did a great job! I was worried it would stain my teeth purple, but I drank it carefully. Super sweet and yummy and would get again if I'm craving a sweet tooth Ube drink with a little espresso. Decided to visit Cafe Aficionado and today my girlfriend and I stopped in for breakfast. The owner, Abigail, and her team offer up some amazing hospitality and quality ingredients, including some Filipino-inspired breakfast items. On this visit, however, there was a problem with their rice, so that breakfast item wasn't available. One of the chefs, Kean, however, was so wonderfully nice and offered to give us a sample of their homemade Chicken Longanisa patties and wow, they were phenomenal! They apologized for the inconvenience, but based on that sample alone, we'll be back. On this visit, we did decide to try the Sean Burrito ($15.95) which is homemade with hash browns, scrambled eggs, bacon or sausage (or the half and half option which we opted for), cheddar cheese on a cheese encrusted tortilla. The portion was pretty large and served up fresh and hot. Great crust on the outside with the crispy cheese, with the inside hash browns, eggs and cheese titillating my tastebuds with some amazing flavors. Add on some of the accommodating hot sauces for an added kick of flavor. Overall, the hospitality is top-tier and the quality of the food and drinks superb. There are a few dedicated parking spots behind the building for parking, as well as some within a short walk in this residential part of Northridge. Will definitely be back to try the full Longsilog breakfast plate once everything is up and running again. Came back here with my friend because the last time I got the Sean Burrito it was fantastic - but unfortunately when we came in today, that wasn't our experience. There was a sort of event going on today so I can't really complain about how it took 25-30 minutes to receive our food (the last time it was very quick). We were excited to take our first bites but instantly we were confused. It tasted nothing like it did the first time I got it - and we found out why. The burrito was overwhelmed with too much garlic. We actually had to pick out chunks of the cloves out of the burrito. I get that there was an event and it was a busy day, but it's just unfortunate that a burrito that costs $20 after taxes can be this disappointing. The food itself actually pretty decent, so I'll give them credit for that, but the portions were definitely smaller than I expected and felt below standard for what you're paying. The drinks were easily the biggest disappointment. I ordered the strawberry matcha and could barely taste either strawberry or matcha. It honestly tasted mostly watered down, with maybe a little strawberry flavor at the beginning, but basically no matcha at all. The other drinks we ordered weren't much better either. Someone got an ube coffee drink, and you couldn't really taste the ube. It mostly just tasted like regular coffee. Customer service was decent, and again, the food tasted good, but between the small portions and really disappointing drinks, I don't think I'd come back. If you do go, I'd stick with the food and skip the drinks. read more

So in my journey to try as many new coffee shops this year continues, I came across this small coffee shop on Yelp with good ratings. I said sure why not since it was by my neck of the woods, walking in I already felt the vibe that yes this is a coffee shop, like not a Starbucks vibe of bland flavor and run of the mill drinks. The Tapsilog was good but the tapas was slightly salty so I added lots of the spiced vinegar. Only one fried egg came with my combo. Next time I'll get a 2nd egg. The lattes are good! This time I had the Abuelita (hot) latte and oh so good with a good balance of coffee and cinnamon goodness. My dad wanted decaf but they don't have that option. The Stuffed French Toast was delicious. 10/10 would recommend. The Sean Burrito was good. My husband says he would get all bacon next time because their bacon is good. This is still one of our absolute favorite coffee shops to go to. The quality is always top tier and made with love. We've been coming here for years now and the drinks are always changing to introduce new ones and they never disappoint! My go to as of late has been their iced cookie butter latte. They do an incredible job and the espresso is strong but still have the sweetness and flavor of the cookie butter lined around the cup. Today we dropped by to try some of their new Spring Seasonal drinks and mainly because one of them is a collab with my cousin, IG: Leonardough's, inspired by his fantastic baked goods! We ordered the "Jon's Blueberry Maple Bar Latte" which was a nice, strong latte but the blueberry flavor pushed through perfectly! Great balance. This one is the drink inspired by my cousin's bakery, and the main drink we came for but I also wanted to try the Beignet Latte since it was one of the other unique drinks on the menu. So hard to choose but I just might like the blueberry one more because it was a solid drink! The beignet one has honey that just sinks to the bottom and mixing it is a bit tough because it gets stuck to the straw no matter what and you end up getting chunks of honey for every sip. Not that it's a bad thing! It was still delicious but hard to beat the blueberry drink. The baristas today were both very sweet and friendly and got the drinks out really quick! It was another busy day for this coffee shop and I somehow managed to go too early and missed out on their smash burger pop up. Plenty of seating throughout the cafe which makes it perfect for hanging out with friends. It always smells amazing in here because they also have their own breakfast food that we need to try again. My iced chai was somehow warm and watered down, and the replacement lavender lemonade tasted more like extra-sweet pink lemonade.
