Burned meat

I DoorDash my order yesterday and it was picked up at 2:54pm. The food I ate was bad, instantly made me vomit, it smelled rotten. I called the restaurant yesterday to ask for my refund back, since I have pictures of me not eating all of the food. Maria Mendoza and the person I spoke with today at 9:15am stated they don't know English but running a restaurant and hangs up on me. Everyone says there is no manager at the store. This is poor customer service. I don't recommend and i already reported to the health department.

we gotta do better than this i always get a plate with corn chips i ordered 5 tacos that was just wrapped in foil that's it idk ‍ if the cook ‍ was tired or what !

Asada tacos. Liked the side of chips and beans, included with your order.

My son and I were in the neighborhood and hungry for lunch. Found this little hole in the wall. Absolutely loved our choice. We each ordered 2 tacos, he ended up ordering 2 more. The meat was tender and free of fat. There is nothing worse then biting into a taco with fat and chewy meat. They kept it clean and flavorful. My son happened to notice that the pictures on the menu match the food. He said I should mention this in my review as a plus. Cashier was kind. Will definitely come Back. Parking is good.

They charge u 75 cents per sour cream that you want on your taco. That's freaken insane. I did the $7.99 3 taco special with a drink and they charged an extra $2.25 for the sour cream. That's a whole taco right there. I definitely won't be coming back .

Breakfast

This place has been here hidden and I love it. The food, the service, the ambience is an A+++ Fulfilling breakfast and you won't regret it.

Loved the place until they put the white guy at the front counter. He's of course arrogant and has no customer service. I ordered a burrito mojado + tacos and a regular burrito, paying over $60. I took my food happily. When I was leaving I realized the bag containing my burrito mojado was leaking its sauce and it leaked all over my Pink SKIMS sweater. I was shocked it was all over me, and my belongings. Panicking I spilled my drink accidentally. Yes the drink was my fault. The bag was ripped from the edge of the plastic container. So I walked back inside the store to get a refill and yes I was extremely frustrated that the red sauce from the burrito just ruined my sweatshirt. So I began to explain to the guy what freak accident happened. Instead of being sympathetic of course he immediately goes to asking me how was the bag ripped and assuming I did it on purpose. I brought a dollar in with me and I did set it on the counter. He then said you don't need to throw your dollar at me. Acting as if I was crazy and didn't hear anything I said then proceeded to act as if I was in the wrong and continued acting extremely offended, never once did I request my food to be remade or my money back or my drink to be refilled for free. But some human decency would've been nice. You definitely won't get that from a place like this. The food is hella hit or miss. Super inconsistent. I would not recommend going to such an unprofessional family owned restaurant. The entitlement is not worth the food.

"Guacamole" - there's no way this has real avocados in it. It was like 80% water.

Carne asada was really dry, and I'm sorry but what they gave me as "guacamole" was this really weird watery green thing, picture attached. Will not return, not good Mexican food. Torta was decent but overall the food is not great quality.

Is an amazing cafe. The food is authentic and bursting with flavors. The tacos are delicious, especially the carne asada and al pastor. The staff is friendly and offers excellent service. The ambiance is cozy and inviting. I highly recommend this place to all taco lovers. Definitely a must-visit spot in Los Angeles!

Chicken taquitos, $6. As requested: without lettuce, tomatoes, and anything else that would make the taquitos soggy.

We started with a round of Ahi Tuna Toatadas and I had to have a second order! The tostadas are completely covered with the most deliciously marinated Ahi Tuna and are completely mouth watering! We also started with their Watermelon Hibiscus Margarita and regular Margaritas. Perfect for sitting on the pet friendly patio. We also tried their Oaxacan Old Fashioned that came smoked, always a treat. We had their Chopped Salad with Salmon, the most amazing Shrimp Fajitas, Suizias Chicken Enchiladas and their Carne Asada Plate. ALL were top notch and cooked/seasoned to perfection!

Anyways, once we were seated we got fresh tortilla chips and a red salsa which was delicious and on the house. My friend and I both wanted to tacos so we got two taco plates. I got the ribeye taco plate and she got the chicken tinga taco plate. We also each got the watermelon hibiscus margarita. The margaritas were the highlight of the night. They were well made and delicious. I could definitely drink a couple of them. In regards to the food, I enjoyed my tacos but my only complaint is if I'm being charged $20 for ribeye tacos, there should be way more meat in each taco. I feel like they skimmed on the meat, which I didn't appreciate, especially at that price point. Other than that, service was prompt and the interior was pretty. I would definitely come back for those margaritas. I believe they have weekday happy hour, so I might check that out for a more affordable experience.

Walked in after having Sushi. We both said to each other.... you wanna taco? lol…read more So we walked in 15 minutes before closing and Poncho was at the register and took our order. He was super sweet. Since they were closing, it was only to go order that that time which we were totally fine with. We got two crunchy tacos both beef, one shredded, one steak/cubed. They came with chips and extra bag of chips on the side as well. They have a salsa bar so I took two of the spiciest salsas to go. I wish I would've taken the other salsa just to taste them as well, but we will come back for sure! We drove home, which is about a little over five minutes away. The tacos were yummy! I liked them both. I asked my husband which one he liked better and he liked them both but he would pick the shredded beef. I honestly thought they were both delicious. I will get them both again. If I had to pick one, maybe the cubed/steak. Really friendly staff and I appreciate that. Looking forward to coming back and trying more.

I came for lunch Friday afternoon around noon with 3 others and it was pretty busy as it was peak lunch time. You can tell it's a popular spot. You order at the counter first and then get a spot. They have both indoor and outdoor seating, but it was super windy the day we came, so no one was sitting outside. I got the Alex burrito without cheese and sour cream for $13.25. Asked for a recommendation for the meat and was told their al pastor is really good, so I went with that. I liked that they call you as they're making your burrito, so you can customize it further (which kind of salsa, onions and cilantro, do you want it cut in half, etc.). As a picky eater, I really appreciated that. We all got burritos, and one friend paid an extra 3 bucks to make it wet. Chips come on the side, and you can help yourself to salsa at their fresh salsa bar. This is the first taqueria I can remember that has a mild tomato salsa without raw onion and very little cilantro. I was excited to see that finally there's a salsa I can eat. My Alex burrito was one of the best burritos I've had imo. The proportion of meat to beans to rice was perfect and the rice tasted great. The al pastor was amazing: super flavorful and smoky. I usually feel like most burritos taste about the same to me, but I definitely found myself enjoying this one more than usual, which says a lot. Also, they're generously sized here. I wasn't able to finish mine despite my best efforts and packed the last quarter to bring home for dinner. I'd like to end my review by mentioning how polite and friendly everyone was, from the guy taking our order to the guy making the food. I was really impressed by this as well, since taquerias usually aren't exactly known for their service. I can't wait to come back!

The energy was electric, as there was a Mexico soccer game on for the World Cup. We ordered some asada fries and birria tacos, and both were super tasty. The asada fries in particular were a generous portion and you felt like you got your money's worth (a challenge in this economy). The vibe inside is very chill and the lights are down low. I loved the trees inside and always appreciate the color the painted skulls add to the space. A couple small things...first, we didn't get the food for a long while after we ordered. Probably around 35 minutes, and happy hour finished in the in-between, so it was too late to add to our order if we had wanted to. Second, I noticed that sometimes the silverware is not 100% clean (this has happened to me at 2 locations), so i make sure to check that I'm not getting anything dirty and mention it to the servers. They always promptly replace it, but it'd be nice if that was not happening in general. Anyway...love the deals here, the flavors are on point, and the atmosphere is fun. What more could you want?

My first visit was…read morefor lunch shortly after opening, and more recently I've been meeting friends there for happy hour. It's a fairly large restaurant with a fun atmosphere, making it a great place to gather with friends and enjoy some food and drinks. The food has been good, and the spacious layout makes it easy for groups to relax and socialize without feeling crowded. It's become one of our go-to spots when we want a casual place to catch up. The service could use a little work. When we go for Happy Hour, we always seem to have to flag our waiter down or ask another if they can get them. I guess that they think once we have ordered food that we won't be ordering more drinks? The one area that could use some attention is the women's restroom. During my last three visits, the toilet seat in one of the stalls has been loose and shifts around when you sit down. On my most recent visit, I also noticed that the stall walls were quite dirty. These are relatively small maintenance issues, but addressing them would definitely improve the overall guest experience. Overall, Kalaveras is a fun spot with good food, a lively atmosphere, and plenty of space for groups. I'll continue meeting friends here and hope to see a little more attention given to restroom maintenance in the future.
