Today I ordered the multi-grain slam w/ bacon, and it was beyond amazing! Made to perfection and fresh. 5/5 for my food!! The service was also exceptional!!! Upon walking into the restaurant, the ambiance is moderate busy, not too loud and waiters are quick. The staff assisted me and walked me over to my table right away. They currently have breakfast promos and they have a rewards program as well. I decided to go with the "super slam" and a side of their pumpkin pecan pancakes. My coffee tasted delicious and the refills kept coming. I always order my eggs sunny side up because I love poking into the yolk and making a mess. The pancakes were so fluffy, buttery, soft, delicious full of flavor; pecans and pumpkin. 5/5 Once I was ready to go, the waiter offered coffee-to-go and I accepted it. Food took a while to come out, Waiter was nice and very responsive. This place is close to church so it's very busy on Sundays. Me and Jhoanna waited about 25 minutes for food to come out. The eggs were over cooked and dry. The sausage and bacon were cooked to perfection as well for the hash browns. The pancakes were okay... burnt on the bottom. So, my buddy and I ordered the Grand Slam: pancakes (2), sausages, bacon, potato crisps and 2 lightly cooked eggs. Their coffee was excellent, arabica and well filtered, perfect for the morning. The staff were older folks and were the sweetest you can ever have, nice, respectful, polite and sweet. I appreciate the way they welcome you with open arms and the camaraderie they show are from the time you enter the restaurant to the time you leave. The restaurant is clean and tidy, full of wonderful people and their parking is like a baseball field! Their food is perfect and always reminds me of Mom's cooking, classic and heartwarming to the soul. My mother and I have been coming to this Denny's in Northridge since 1978 -- back when I was a child, and now as adults with our own kids. It's been a multigenerational tradition. Sadly, today may have been our last visit. We came in around 12:30 PM and were seated by who I believe was the manager, Jose, near the kitchen area in a booth. We waited nearly 10 minutes with menus in hand and no acknowledgment from any server. Finally, a Filipino waitress with no name tag approached us. I said, "Finally someone's here. I thought you all were on strike," in a lighthearted but truthful way to express our frustration. Instead of a smile or reassurance, we got a curt attitude in return. She brushed it off, saying they were busy. We mentioned we were hungry, and she responded in an impatient, almost annoyed tone. Her demeanor felt rushed, brash, and impersonal from the start. We ordered two Grand Slams. I believed I was ordering the $10.99 Grand Slam advertised on the poster in the window, but I was charged nearly $20 for mine. I also asked for decaf coffee for my mom -- she brought regular. When I told her about the mistake, she didn't apologize and just walked off to get another without much care. I requested that we place our to-go order after eating so the food wouldn't get cold, but she never came back to take it. Every time I asked for something, it felt like a burden to her. The coffee was cold, and when I brought it up, she shrugged and rushed away. Her communication was unclear, and unfortunately, the language barrier made it harder to connect. Eventually, after waiting another 10-15 minutes for the check and not seeing her again, I had to go up to the front to speak to Jose. His attitude wasn't much better. When I asked about the Grand Slam pricing, he gave me a dismissive explanation, almost as if I were a child, and acted like I should have just accepted the mistake. No apology, no effort to make things right. Instead, he backed up the waitress completely, giving the impression that our complaint was just a nuisance. We spent over $52 and left feeling like we weren't valued at all. I work as an executive healthcare recruiter and home health specialist and have strong relationships with over 40 care facilities. I make it a point to recommend businesses that treat customers with care and respect. Unfortunately, I'll be warning my network to steer clear of this Denny's and consider alternatives like IHOP across the street -- where the service has consistently been friendlier and more professional. It's truly disheartening to be treated this way after decades of loyal patronage. We left church this morning talking about loving our neighbor -- and it's incredibly hard to do that when you're met with rudeness, neglect, and arrogance. Denny's corporate needs to take a hard look at what's happening at this location. Poor service, unqualified management, and a dismissive attitude are a recipe for losing loyal customers like us. We each order a dish and shared. Everything was delicious except the hash browns were slightly cold and slightly burnt. Everything else was hot and flavorful and cooked well. Dennys still got it! I got the pancakes grand slam and delicious French toast. It has a crispy edge which I love and the best powdered sugar. I don't normally drink coffee but the signature blend has a subtle taste that goes down just right. The scrambled eggs are cooked just right and the sausage is my favorite. The place is generally busy, so there may be a small wait if you arrive during peak hours. While everyone was generally friendly, service can be slow so you may end up waiting a little longer for your drink, just remind the waiter when you see them. Food: You can't go wrong with any of the Slam options. I ordered the lumberjack slam and my wife had the classic slam. The eggs were cooked perfectly and exactly as we had requested. The bacon is nice and crisp, and the hashbrowns were alright (could be a little more crispy). The winner, and I think most would agree, are the delicious buttermilk pancakes. We stopped by the Spirt Halloween then decided to get something to eat. Dennys is across the parking lot. We thought it would be quick as this place was empty. Unfortunately the complete opposite. We waited 10 minutes to be seated as the chef stared at us and said nothing. There was only one waiter working on a Friday afternoon. Finally got seated but waited another 10-15 minutes for him to return to our table and asked if we needed more time. I believe he only returned because I was complaining and he happened to overheard that we should just go to McDonald's as our kids wanted in the first place. Regretfully stayed and ordered. Food was blah. Greasier than usual. Didn't ask us for refills or even if the food was good as servers usually do. My son had to use the restroom to vomit.
