Standard IHOP experience. Friendly server and acceptable wait time after ordering for a group of 3 (15-20 minutes). My usual order of the breakfast combo with protein pancakes turned out average overall. The pancakes looked somewhat unappealing but still tasted fine. The eggs, hash browns, and bacon actually looked like they were cooked for the right amount of time (hash browns in particular are a hit or miss, depending on the location). To my surprise, I encountered a 5 minute wait time when I walked in on a Friday at 1pm. I don't recall IHOP ever being this popular. Their rewards program gives out valuable freebies, but the continuous price hikes over the years have strayed them away from their once-known image of affordable comfort food. Will I be back? Admittedly, yes. It's still the hub for laid back social gatherings that I've always known it for. However, I'm taking full advantage of their Pancoin rewards every step of the way. read more

A Craving for Belgian Waffle took me to ihop. This location is open 24/7 as per online data. It was almost empty when we arrived - but lets face it, how many people want to eat a waffle at 6 pm on a Saturday evening ?! ;) There was a weird smell in the restaurant which was the only turn-off for me. I stopped in about 5 min, so maybe it was the kitchen and whatever was cooking was over and so the smell stopped too. My partner got an omelette. He tried to customize it by requesting a few serano peppers, bell peppers, tomatoes, onions and spinach, and the chef did make an honest effort to give what he wanted. It was big, so he actually carried half of it home. Vilma waited on us. She was very bubbly and helped us understand what would suit our vegetarian palettes more than the others on the menu. I wanted to try the tomato basil soup, but they didn't know if the broth was vegetarian or not, so skipped it. Vilma also suggested a pesto omelette which was not even on the menu yet ! Maybe next time. I stuck to my Belgian waffle and it was good. Warm, right texture of crispy and soft, and oh! Soo yum. Worst IHOP experience ever! I came with my family and we all ordered the fish, shrimp, and fries plate. The shrimp was literally frozen inside when we bit into it -- disgusting and unsafe! We asked for a new plate, and the replacement came out the SAME way. Clearly the cook didn't know what they were doing. What made it even worse is that my grandmother, who is diabetic, was eating this food. Serving undercooked and frozen shrimp is not only careless, it's dangerous. This is unacceptable. I pretty much only come to IHOP once in awhile for 2 things I really like from this chain; The American Cheeseburger and The Pancakes. I ordered both of these togo just about an hour ago to share with a family member since they are open 24/7. Plus, we were obviously hungry on this holiday night. Just like years ago, both items were very delicious and very moist. The burger was clearly well-seasoned, very flavorful, juicy, beefy with fresh buns and cool, firm veggies. The pancakes were very good just like a fluffy cake for breakfast time. They were very easy to cut with good sweetness to them too. We haven't been to this IHOP in a long while. We went because of the $6 breakfast that was advertised. We got there on a Friday around 8 a.m. There wasn't a lot of advertisement for the $6 breakfast in the restaurant. We had a really good waitress friendly and happy. She pointed the special out and pointed out the specials instead of the regular meal that would work for what we wanted. I had the $6 ham and cheese omelette (very cheesy!) with pancakes, which was yummy. My husband had another $6 breakfast - eggs, sausage and pancakes. With our ice teas ($3.99 each) and extras like onions, sauce etc. it came to $25 for 2 of us. Food came quickly, hot and yummy! The restaurant and bathroom were clean. read more

January 3 2024 A quick trip to start our day at our local ihop. I ordered my usual, eggs Benedict classic, but it went downhill from there. Hubby ordered 2x2x2 which was the usual fare. My eggs benny were not cooked and the sauce had separated so it looked almost like melted cheese....almost. The eggs were not cooked; I like poached eggs but not eggs so runny that there was still water in the eggs. Hubby also lost his appetite. The manager apologized and was ready to redo the plate. We were however on a short time line so the acceptable solution was not to charge us for it. It seems that checks and balances were not working today; a plate that should not have seen set out by the chef should not have been brought out to the table by the waitress (see picture #3). So I'll preface this by saying it's IHOP. You don't come here expecting exceptional food. You come here for decent diner food at cheap prices and you may or may not be drunk at 2am. This place is like old and loyal pilar of the community. People are just more relaxed here. You come in and can chat with the neighbor tables that are an elderly veteran, a cowboy (or someone with a giant hat and accent), and the trucker. Everyone is just happy to have some company and the servers will stop by and visit too. It's just a great place to mingle with random members or your community and eat some pancakes. So that's why I give this place 4 stars is the community I always experience when I come here. read more

Decided to try something different, so why breakfast for dinner. Restaurant was clean and very quiet as there were not very many patrons. The server was very attentive and got the food out pretty fast. I ordered the grits no butter/dairy with 2 plant based sausage patties and assorted fruit. The meal was actually pretty good and no complaints there. However, every once in a blue moon, I recall that some establishment offer military discount to veterans, although this one did not. So IHOP is typically for me that after hours spot but with all the changes we are here for breakfast. When we arrived the restaurant was nicely packed and they had every one six feet apart. Our waitress, who was in training, was the sweetest! She took our orders and made sure we were taken care of from beginning to end. I really don't have much to say other than the restaurant should allow trainees to get tips. I find it unfair for them to do all the hard work and not earn the money they deserve. Came in looking forward to just a simple meal out with the family and wow...worst dining experience ever and it still cost almost $80. If you see a server there named Erik P, just leave. Save yourself the aggravation and dine somewhere else immediately. He refused to write our order down but we kept some confidence because he repeated the order for 4 meals correctly 3 times. It took over 20 minutes to get our drinks and another 10 minutes to place our order, then 25 minutes for three of the meals to come, 35 minutes for the last order. Alas, my order was wrong. I did get a meal that was priced higher but instead of just taking the meal back and giving me what I originally ordered, the server decided to try and convince me to just keep what I got. At this point we were pressed for time and I decided to keep the order with the stipulation that they at least adjust the check to what I had originally ordered. I think the manager (who dared not show their face throughout this entire fiascoby the way) ended up adjusting $4 somewhere but this whole terrible experience still cost about $80. I went ahead and left a very small tip (versus none) but with hindsight, we should've just walked out when it took over 20 minutes to get our drinks and another 10 minutes after that to put in our order. And what made everything worse was that the server had the nerve after poor service to return to our table twice promptly to "clean up" and making sure to collect the signed receipt before even giving us the to-go boxes that we had asked for 3 times prior. We ended up almost walking out with the plates to try to prove a point. RIDICULOUS. Shame on the Manager for not intervening and making the experience less painful. Don't waste your money or time dining at this location. Giving 1 star because zero stars is not allowed. read more

This is only my 2nd time visiting this location. The first time was a pickup order. I actually had vowed not to patronize IHOP after a coupon to order online wouldn't work and that was after calling the restaurant and IHOP customer service. However, who can pass up birthday pancakes?! To avoid my coupin being null and void, I went the last day of my validity around 9 am. Not super busy, but there were plenty of cars outside that indicate people are tired of being at home and are ready to eat out! Singing on the door concerning masks basically makes it your choice to use one or not. I still wear my mask in most places indoors with the exception of the gym, but in a restaurant...I choose to leave it off. A little wait at the hostess stand to get a table but no biggie for me. Before I even decided what to get, I told my waiter about my coupon to make sure I knew what it covered. I made my selection appropriately, didn't wait too long for my order at all and enjoyed a very filling and delicious meal. Even with asking for my toppings on the side, my breakfast was very decadent (thank goodness I went to the gym later)! Bacon was crisp but not too crispy. I enjoyed the smoothness of the coffee as well. Made for a great compliment to the book I read during my meal. Restaurant was clean and my waiter checked on me several occasions to make sure I didn't need refills and even brought water to my table when he saw it was running low. Came on a Sunday afternoon and was kind of surprised there was no wait. Now I know why. Our waitress was clueless. She asked us multiple times what we wanted even though it seemed she had written it down and she still managed to forget the chocolate chips in the pancakes. I ordered the tbone steak. I shouldn't have. The steak was paper thin yet greasy and fatty. The loaded potatoes were good but not good enough to save the meal. The pancakes were not uniform (small one on top, largish one on the bottom. The coffee was good so they had that going for them I guess. Now that I've tried a few other breakfast places in the area I don't see a need to come back to Ihop for this subpar service/food. read more

Our local IHOP is BACK! Over the last month plus, our family has had cravings for IHOP; and so we wanted to give our local Silverlake location another shot. I'm not sure if there is new management, ownership or what, but the food, service and cleanliness has been on point with each and every one of our last 6 or so visits. From the hostess sitting us at our table and then helping to bus a nearby table, to another waitress getting our drinks while our appointed waitress (Emeralda) helped another customer, to Esmeralda very patient, upbeat and helpful taking our order (short stack of buttermilk pancakes plus two egg meal with protein pancakes), to the floor manager getting our check while Esmeralda was bringing food to another table; to the line cooks preparing our food choices to look and taste as good as they appear on the menu and finally to the woman bussing the tables making sure we had everything we needed as we finished our last gulps of coffee and settled our bill, this current group of employees/managers/cooks at our Silverlake IHOP could teach many of the nearby restaurants (for that matter any restaurant) what it means to be a cohesive team always going above and beyond to help the patrons in their restaurant. What an absolute joy, especially in a time when it seems like customer service has taken a major step back since the pandemic, to see a group of employees working so hard and so happily together. Based upon our recent experiences, we will continue to satisfy our IHOP cravings at our own Silverlake IHOP! The IHOP franchise should really praise this group for their dedication and commitment. IHOP holds a special place in my heart. There are many of nights I have walked in, drunk, for a late night meal. Those kind of nights took place years ago and are few and far between these days. Case in point: walked in totally sober on Christmas Eve. We were looking for a late night meal and Whataburger was surprisingly closed. One of their new items stood out: Oreo cheesecake French toast. You read that right. I was sold, especially as I love anything that has Orea. You can add it to a combo so we went with sunny side up eggs, hashbrowns (added cheese), ham, and a side of toast. The breakfast is your standard breakfast fare. Not mindblowing by any means but gets the job done. Saved the French toast for dessert and it was pretty much as good as it sounds. Service was really nice which can be a hit or a miss at spots like this. You pay at the counter once you finish eating. And you should know this, but they're 24/7 so you can get your fix at whatever odd hour you'd like. read more

I visited the restaurant because my wife needed pancakes! Well, the baby inside her belly needed them. Either way, we ended up at IHOP after shopping the morning away. We got seated at a table inside a smaller room that was packed with tables. In fact, the waitress had to slide a table aside just to create a lane for my pregnant wife's belly. Not good. We were ignored after we ordered food...and we were waiting on our water forever before someone else finally brought it to us. Our waiter was good and got our food out relatively quickly. We left a 15% tip after our bill, which brought a round of cheers from the waitstaff. I guess they aren't accustomed to people actually tipping at IHOP...or maybe the service is typically bad. So today I totally took advantage of #InternationalPancakeDay to enjoy my FREE shortstack of pancakes. I just love the pancakes at IHOP. Out of all restaurants that serve pancakes the ones at IHOP are the ones that I crave. They always fluffy, moist and taste amazing. I especially love when the butter melts in the center making the soft dip in the middle. I always eat that part with no syrup. Come to think of it, I think I could eat the entire pancake with no syrup. Yup, they are that good. With my tasty pancakes I had a side of bacon. It was crispy and not overcooked. Just as good as the food was the service. I thought the servers might have been overwhelmed today with some many people visiting due National Pancake Day but they weren't.
