The service was horrible. All the waiters, including the one who helped me, had AirPods on. I don't believe a manager was present, and if one was, that's a shame. Most of the staff are young kids just hanging around and not doing their jobs. This restaurant also needs extensive interior cleaning. The dining room floor was sticky, the seats and booths had crumbs, and the glassware was covered with handprints. Dishes like mugs and silverware were dirty. The food was okay. Glad to pay another visit this October, it's another lazy early morning for us, so IHOP is the answer. Eager to get seated on the area where Gloria serves but this time we were seated on the other side of the dining area where Marshall served us. We were not disappointed, Marshall was attentive and prompt. This particular IHOP location is still the best, fast service, great customer service and clean/well-kept. Love that they have the plant-based breakfast sausage and the protein powder-based pancake. Just wish IHOP will add more healthier options, less carb, less sugar and meatless choices in the future. Also wishing that more IHOP locations visit and emulate this particular area be at the Rim. This is how IHOP should be. When I confronted the server on the service he asked if I just wanted more pancakes to which I replied the size of the pancakes was the issue. Gave a half assed greeting and then had myself (party of 2) and a large party follow where all she did was point at a table before carrying on and doing the same to the larger party. Got oh so lucky. Late evening running around with the kiddos. They wanted hot chocolate. We stopped in for dinner against my better judgement. Very happily surprised. Our server was amazing. She was so sweet and great with the kiddos. Had a wonderful sense of humor. Made sure everything was spot on. Almost every city I visit I make sure I go to IHOP at least once, and order the Sirloin tips and eggs. So. As usual, while in San Antonio I did the same. Very disappointed. They avoided a 1-star review because the food I did get tasted alright. They missed a 3-star review because when I called back to tell them about their mistake they did nothing about it. This meal comes with Sirloin tips with sautéed mushrooms abs onions, hash browns, eggs and pancakes. Just for more, I always substitute toast for pancakes. I never got the hash browns, there were maybe two small pieces of sautéed onions and NO mushrooms what so ever. Food did come out quick, but then again when you don't bother preparing the whole meal it should come out quicker. From the moment we walked in the hostess was rude. Argued that we couldn't have a booth because the high chair being in the way was a fire hazard, and had to wait 10 mins for a table to be available but another serve sat us at a booth with our high chair at the end. 2 more people came in behind us and told one gentleman very rudely "I don't have room for you." Then told the lady who came in alone "you can sit right there. Here." As she proceeded to hand her a menu & walk herself to the table" The booth they sat us at was dirty, food from the last table all over the floor, we asked to have it swept even after he walked by more than once & saw the trash even around our table and high chair was dirty as well. Our server apologized if he was rude because he was in pain & he would be moving a little slower than usual. Why do you have a server in pain working.. bad move on management not to give this man the day off. Or have extra workers. Place is almost full & Ive only seen 3 servers. Sodas were very flat. He brought us tea instead. Never picked up any of the dirty/extra cups and plates. He gave us our receipt before we even got our food. Had to repeat items that we asked for more than once. Some food was burnt. And when I asked if I could get a to-go container he replied with "can you" Luckily my kids were present and I wasn't going to make a scene. Nothing but ugly looks from the hostess as we were leaving. I will NEVER be coming back to this location & you can bet I will spread this bad service to my friends and family.
