After a day at the beach we decided to treat our littles to IHOP. We are a family of 6 on a budget, we seen the Adams family special and thought this would be fun and affordable!! Boy were we wrong! According to the website, The special was from 4-10pm, kids eat free with the purchase of an adult entree. Well, that was a typo... when we arrived there were notices sign saying 1 adult entree gets you 1 free child's meal. Okay, still not bad. Today there were 7 of us...my husband and I, a 14 year old and 4 kids under 8. I tell you this because with 3 adult entrees we got 3 kids meals and had to pay for 1....our bill for Pancakes came to $85!!! The food was good, service was good and the place was clean but the price was outrageous! I have gone to nicer restaurants with my kids for less....never again IHOP, we can't afford your pancakes and reheated bacon. read more

IHOP my favorite breakfast place. Unfortunately today my experience was not all that great. First of all the waitress was loud. The whole restaurant can hear what we were ordering. Secondly, our table had no salt or pepper shakers. Thirdly, in my wrapped utensils, I had 2 knives and a small spoon. No fork. My syrup for my pancakes was watery. When I asked for a fork I was asked if I wanted a plastic fork. At this time my appetite was no longer there. I was given another pancake and another syrup. I drank my coffee and barely are my breakfast. Someone needs to talk to the same waitress to tone her voice down. She needs to be more pleasant. She made me feel forced to answer her questions. This is the first IHOP that I've been to in a really long time, mainly because I'm not a fan of big breakfasts. But being on the road with my ravenously hungry 14-year old daughter, I needed to pull in for a pit stop. What I encountered was frankly pretty amazing. Not that it was a Sunday morning about 10am and that the parking lot and waiting area were overflowing, but that the way this place was a bee hive of activity was pretty interesting. Let be just tick off a few interesting points: - The place was packed and there were about six parties ahead of us. The receptionist took our name and said that it would be 5-min. Within about 4-min, the others were seated as were we. -Our waitress was clearly rushing from table to table but when she promptly came to us, she was incredibly pleasant (her name was MaryJan). -We ordered the usual not-to-healthy array of breakfast foods: eggs, hash browns, pancakes, etc. and these were served up in pretty short order (keep in mind that there was not an empty seat in the place). -MaryJan asked us twice if everything was OK (it was), and then later even brought my daughter an additional glass of orange juice without being asked. "It looked like you were getting low, so I thought you'd need another one," she said. -Finally, the real interesting thing was that as we were walking out the door (while everyone was still flying around like crazy), an Hispanic busboy loaded with a bus tub full of dishes asked us in broken English how our breakfast was. This experience was clearly the most impressive example of a team of really motivated employees working together to please the customer. I have to admit, I wouldn't have expected this level of service from just your average roadside coffee shop, but evidently no one working at the Santa Maria International House of Pancakes, believes that their restaurant is average. ...and the pancakes were good too! read more

Not cool. Wifes crepes were dripping with grease. The waitress was very friendly & offered to have them redone, but sending food back is a scarry proposition these days. Ihop is one of my favorite breakfast spots. I enjoy going with my family on Sunday mornings and we always get their fresh pancakes. They are overall soft and warm always and remind me of my grandmas. The eggs are amazing especially because eggs are my favorite. The french toast is definitely my favorite it taste sweet and soft and soon as u take a bit it's amazing. I really enjoy orange juice and it tastes fresh , i love it with pulp and im glad they have that because most breakfast places do not have that . My goodness this was by far the worst experience! Coffee was offered but machines were broken so coffee was horrible and one was cold. Switched to tea;no hot water. Finally got enough water for tea. Lemons looked like theyd been left out a few days. Coffee cup had lipstick. People behind us asked for toast; toaster was broken. The service here is always hit and miss. Lately it's been more miss than hit. Today takes the cake. I called in to order my meal to-go, as I have many times in the past. (I'm severely hypoglycemic, so when I need to eat, I need to eat...and I need protein and carbs if I want to function for the day.) I asked for the Blueberry & Banana Harvest Grain pancake breakfast. I came to pick it up, paid (and tipped), and came back to the office to eat my breakfast. I look in the bag and apparently there was a mix-up because what I got was a stack of plain Harvest Grain & Nut pancakes with the sugary, syrupy blueberries on the side. No protein since the turkey bacon & eggs aren't there...only a ton of sugar and carbs...which means I'm incredibly hungry now & know I'm going to crash and get really sick. I eat half a pancake since I had the smarts to ask for sugar free syrup, but I realize it's not going to work...I'm feeling dizzy at this point, so I decided to call & let them know what happened. I was thinking maybe I could go back to get my side of turkey bacon & eggs and all will not be lost. Nope! No luck!! I called and found out it's actually MY FAULT I don't have the side items I thought I'd ordered. I explained to the girl who answered that there must be a mix-up. I told her what I'd ordered & what I'd actually received. She informed me, point blank, that if I wanted the sides, I needed to order THE COMBO. I let her know that I ordered 'the breakfast' so I thought that implied the meal, or the combo...still thinking there could be a remedy available. "Oh, no, you have to order the combo, ok?!" she insisted. I said, "OK, I understand that now, I have to say 'combo' not 'breakfast', thanks. But that's it, we can't fix this?" And she said, "Yes, thank you," quite frankly, and then she hung up. Okayyy...?? I'm sorry, but BLUEBERRY W/ BANANA HARVEST GRAIN PANCAKE "BREAKFAST" doesn't mean a stack of pancakes with a side of syrupy blueberries in my mind. It means blueberry pancakes with bananas on top, just like I always get. If there was any confusion or ambiguity, I'd expect the person taking the order to ASK and clarify. I've never had this happen before. But alas, it is MY FAULT for not using THE MAGIC WORDS. Lesson learned: Ordering 'breakfast' does not a 'combo' make. And don't expect IHOP to offer a fix on their part, or the offer of placing a side order. They'll just hang up, and leave you hanging. read more

I've enjoyed breakfast and brunch at this IHOP more than a dozen times in the past, today I took a gander at the new Banana Foster Brioche, French Toast, Sausage, Egg Comboooooo... The toast is lightly dipped in sweetened Vanilla batter, an excellent substitute for syrup giving it a unique and quite enjoyable taste. Bananas are a nice touch. It was all fresh and presented by a friendly server. There are two or three other ways the toast can be served which is always nice depending on what you're up to. The overall experience at this particular IHOP has always been great and the staff is helpful, friendly and fast. With hundreds of familties milling around on the sidewalk and in the grass, the hostess's claim that we'd be seated in 15 minutes seemed dubious at best. And yet-- she was right! As far as the food goes, it was standard IHOP. I hasd a garden crepe--which came out looking none too appetizing as if it was a pecie of wonderbread with velveeta on it.
