Their home fries used to be the best I've ever had. They were one of the main reasons I kept coming back. Now, it feels like you never know what you're going to get. More often than not they're undercooked, leaving the potatoes hard in the middle. On the rare occasion I mention it, the replacement usually comes back overcooked instead. It's frustrating because all I'm hoping for is the perfectly cooked home fries they used to be known for. I can't quite put my finger on everything that's changed, but the overall quality just doesn't feel as consistent as it once was. The food is still pretty good, and that's why I continue to support them, but I definitely find myself coming less often than I used to. This place used to knock it out of the park almost every visit. I genuinely hope they can get back to that level because I'd love to see one of my longtime favorite breakfast spots thrive again.

My mom ordered the prime rib sandwich with grilled onions and chose the 50/50 fries and grilled onions. The only minor criticism I have is that it wasn't quite a true 50/50 and could have used a few more grilled onions. Other than that, it was delicious. The pinquito beans have a little kick, so if you're sensitive to spice, keep that in mind. Personally, I wouldn't change a thing. The whole meal took me right back to growing up in the Santa Maria Valley cruising Broadway on Saturday while the entire town smelled like oak fired Santa Maria barbecue. I came into IHOP yesterday with my father and my grandparents. Before even being seated, we could see that the restaurant was just a zoo. There were about four little children screaming and running right in front of the hostess station. My grandparents are both very feeble. If they were to have a collision with one of the children, they would have easily fallen over. Allowing these children to behave as they were doing was highly inappropriate on the part of the hosts and servers. When we came to our table the busboy brought us waters. He was very pleasant despite being very busy. After a few minutes, our server came over to see if we were ready to order. I was debating between either soup or a turkey sandwich. I asked him what the soup of the day was. He admitted to not knowing, rolled his eyes, and offered to check. To roll your eyes at a customer is highly unprofessional. When he brought us our food, he did not even ask if he could get us anymore water. We had to ask another server, who was much more polite, if he could refill our water glasses. This server did not refill our water glasses. He brought us each a new glass of water, which really was not necessary. Our server only came to check us on us once and this was when he gave us our bill. We left the money for the bill on the table because with the money was the tip for our server. As we were making our way back toward the hostess station, our server caught up with us and told us to go back to the table, get the money for the bill, and bring it to the hostess station. I was surprised that he did not take the initiative to bring it up to the hostess station himself. And yes, there were still children running and screaming at the hostess station.
