I ordered delivery from this restaurant and was thoroughly disappointed. The food was gross as if it had been warmed from the previous day. Pancakes were dry and tasteless. To add insult, the food was delivered with no napkins and utensils. Epic fail!!! I called to inform the mgr, but after holding on the phone for 15 mins. I chalked it up to a lesson learned. Our server Dewey was absolutely amazing. He's been our server on previous occasions and he is definitely the best. He doesn't just take your order and walk away, he interacts with us and has conversation. He was on it with the warm syrup and extra napkins we didn't even have to ask. We are out celebrating National Pancake Day!!! I celebrate everything else so why not pancakes!!?!! We got there around 3:30 and the place is crawling with high school and middle school kids excited about the prospect of getting a free short stack of pancakes! I personally love free so I'm going to show up for free regardless of the location. This whole experience went bad when kids began fighting outside and police had to come and break up the fight. I was in a scene right out of cops and trust me free ain't worth watching the cops pull kids out of an ihop. The owners was trying to kick all the kids out and I couldn't move my car because of all the police cars so I just at my pancakes and waited to leave. I'll never go to that ihop again. It was the absolute worst experience and it honestly had nothing to do with the establishment and everything to do with the parents that allow their kids to go out without supervision. We go here occasionally because the food is fast, reasonably priced, tasty and the staff is pretty good. We just went yesterday on a Wednesday around 11am - so I'm not sure why my ordered was messed up when it wasn't even busy. I order take out from them sometimes as well. I ordered a omelet and it was suppose to have broccoli in it, but there was only spinach, tomato, onions, and cheese. I ended up getting a side of broccoli from the kitchen, but it should have been inside my omelet in the first place. On top of that some of the spinach was brown and old. I have a photo to prove it; will attach it. We also ordered coffee and tea, but were not offered any water. When I asked for water with no ice, it was warm! They were not on point today at all, but I'll still be back. The pancakes are awesome. The only bad thing about the pancakes is when you take them home, you have to separate them from each other or they'll stick together. In short, the friendliness of the is decent, but the service and kitchen staff are not the sharpest tools in the shed. DO NOT sit in Lola's section. Which may be hard because it looked like she was allowed to wait on half the restaurant. Lola was our server and for some reason, she did not want to help us today. She had an attitude every time we asked for something. Literally. HOWEVER, we did see her being friendly and smiling at other tables. We asked for refills on our drinks and apparently that was asking too much. We mentioned to the server that we had pancake coins we wanted to use and asked how to use it. She either didn't know how or didn't care to explain because all she said was you can only get one item. Our food came, brought out by other staff and we were missing 3 items. Lola eventually walked by and mumbled enjoy or something and we started to say oh we're missing a kids meal, etc, and she literally cut us off and with a huge attitude, she said "if stuff is missing then they'll bring it out." Well, we did get two items that were missing, but we never got the bacon that was supposed to come with one of our meals, and we didn't want to deal with her attitude again so we just let it go. I don't think I've ever been spoken to like that in a restaurant, ever. On top of we had 7 people in a booth, and our table was overflowing, and not once did Lola remove dishes for us. It was just a disaster of a meal. Worst part is, we were out for one our birthdays and we didn't enjoy anything, we were all just really annoyed. Lola also didn't check on us for the next 20+ mins so we basically finished our meal and she finally came around, we said can we just have two boxes and the check. She never even came by for the check cause we were going to mention the rewards but she didn't come back so we just paid using the app on the receipt. We were fed up at that point so we just wanted to pay. The food is never great but it was the birthday persons choice, but of course, this meal was kind of ruined by the attitude and service. Ok so it's an IHOP, and therefore not some wonderful gourmet restaurant, but I have to be honest, this was one of the best IHOPs I've visited! Hands down better than the one close to my house. I was craving pancakes before heading out for a hike, and IHOP was right near the park. On a Sunday morning they were busy, and there was a bit of a wait to have someone greet and seat me. Turns out that was because the manager was running all over doing everything! Taking money, seating customers, taking orders, delivering food...he was doing his best to make sure things were running smoothly, and doing a good job. I just ordered some basic eggs and pancakes, but the eggs were cooked perfectly (over medium, which is sometimes challenging at chains like this) and the pancakes were delicious! Do not waste your time on getting on the waitlist. I got on the waitlist through Yelp. On Yelp you are instructed to check in to the front desk. I get to the front desk and the cashier and seater tells me they don't seat off that. I wasted gas and time to get there to find out there is no such thing of a waitlist on on Yelp nor the website. The cheese and too bun are completely off of the burger and were on top of fries. Also, I can't even eat the bottom bun because it is completely soaked in oil I can't even pick it up. I got the mushroom and swiss burger and the menu didn't state there was lettuce and tomatoes but I received them in my burger. I hate tomatoes so I just had to pick them off lol. I'm happy that we can go in an actually dine now and they seem to have the restaurant set up 6 feet apart. The wait staff do wear mask. I've been in this particular IHop before COVID and I've had my share of dislikes and likes. However, recently patronized the IHop thinking maybe things, such as the food taste and temperature would be a lot better since there are so few people dining in the restaurant. However, my same complaint. I ordered 2 eggs over easy (which they weren't), 2 slices of bacon, and a pancake. EVERYTHING was COLD. Not hot! LIke I previously stated, there aren't that many people in the restaurant so I "thought" maybe things had changed and they would work more of the quality and taste of their brand. Not the case. The waitress seemed a little agitated when I told her the food was cold upon arrival to my table. That tells me two things....it sat in the window too long and/or it's made ahead of time. You know how bacon gets when it's cold....cold grease flavored bacon is not so good! Lastly, I'd like to add, the male manager there speaks very rudely to his staff. He's very abrasive. It's not a pretty picture to see someone demean others. This guy needs to come in check! I more than likely will not eat at this particular IHop again (Tech Road, Silver Spring). The only reason why I'm giving this location a two star rating right now is because the manager was kind enough to explain rather than get mad and be rude to me like the server whose name is Sue. He did exactly what she was supposed to do instead she told me that I can go upfront and get the manager myself instead of calling him for me like I asked nicely and said please and thank you to. The only reason why I'm writing this review is because she was extremely rude to me and he kept on interrupting me while I was trying to talk, with all this being said we still left her a good tip. I never had a problem with this location before. Me and my family go here a lot because it's the closest location near my mother's house. I just really hope that the waitress that helped us adjusts her attitude instead of being rude. This is a typical IHOP - bursting through the seams with rambunctious toddlers, teenagers in pajamas, dining retirees, and youth soccer teams - basically a mix of everyone. Standard food. My group and I have come to this location twice, amd both times the food and service were wonderful. The first time the restaurant was undergoing minor construction work but the crew was working hard to make up for the entrance. Our server, Zena, was particularly hard at work running tables. Despite being under obvious stress she never slipped up, got our food to us quickly, amd kept our drinks full through the night. The second time, tonight, our server was a wonderful woman by the name of Carla. She began somewhat soft spoken but incredibly attentive, noting that i finished my drink far quicker than i probably should have and promptly brought out two at once, which was very welcome. As the night went on she became more personable and witty, making the experience that much more enjoyable. On a very crowded Saturday morning with at least 5 large groups waiting outside we got a table in less than 10 minutes and were served our food by the Best Waiter Ever who got our order correct and brought out very quickly. Okay I have to laugh because I joke with the boy that I am a cheap date. We go to ihop. a lot. probably more than I've ever been in my entire life. Its more circumstantial, and convenient at the hours we decide to eat rather than a first choice location. I really like this ihop because of a waitress named Katherine. She works the late (everybody is drunk) shift and she is the nicest, most attentive sweetheart that I have ever known to work a diner. Last night she had 4 tables with a combination of about 21 people, and from what I could tell she was flawless. Perky, happy, and super duper friendly. I dont do wheat (at least I'm not supposed to) so I get the steak tips and hashbrowns. The boy eats my eggs, and i nix the pancakes. I have to admit that the steak tips here are really good. Usually medium rare, and the hashbrowns with onions really tickles my breakfast cravings. I tried the boy's bacon and it was just o.k. We did notice last night that they are adding the tip into the check now. I'm not sure if the added gratuity is to ensure a tip is left due to the ungodly hour that we arrived, or if its just standard now. Its 15% and we feel bad, because we would tip more, especially to Katherine who is AWESOME. :) 20% is our standard, I just feel like she's not getting her fair share. Anyway- the bathrooms here are clean, and the staff is nice. Perhaps its because the location is a bit tucked out of the way, but I really like it here for a late night tummy rumbling. read more

I went back and forth on two verse three stars. It really should be 2.5. First with why I didn't give it one star. The food was great. The service, like most places is why it gets a low rating. I have to assume they know they have a problem. The waiting room was completely packed both when I arrived and left. I counted 30 open tables when we got there and 20 when we left. That tells me they don't have the staff to serve that many people, so it's smart to not fill the tables, they still don't have the staff for the tables they do fill. No one was rude to us. The waitress was ok, it was very transactional because she was swamped. Takes your order drops off your stuff and that's the only interaction. Had to raise my hand to get more water and then the check. The customer demand is there, mostly because there no other options in the area. If you go, expect the food to be really good, but dedicate 90 minutes due to the wait to get in then the slow service after. read more

This is your typical IHOP. Full of greasy-haired, unbathed folks packed into the waiting room awaiting a greasy breakfast at 1 pm every weekend. The tables are permanently coated in sticky maple syrup and there are roving gangs of children everywhere. While R's sister was in town we popped by for breakfast since she loves pancakes. Our waitress was strange. She was hell-bent on memorizing our order (there were 5 of us) rather than writing it down, so each person would take a turn telling her what they wanted and then she would have the people who already ordered repeat their order to her to help her memorize it. I'm totally serious. Unfortunately for me I was the first person to order so I had to repeat my order to her 5 times. I'll give her credit though- everything came out exactly as we ordered it. I ordered the country fried steak and I'll never do that again. It's f-ing enormous! It's actually embarrassing how big it is. I was starving and I still only managed to eat a small fraction of it. It's served with eggs and pancakes (although I substituted hash browns). They should make you take an EKG to make sure you'll survive the rest of the day after consuming this much fat and cholesterol. I'm still taking the elevator at work just to be on the safe side... First time was served by a guy in a striped shirt (manager?), who took our order with no hesitation, and never wrote anything down; order came promptly with NO mistakes! Food was good. 2nd time, order was taken by a very pleasant female who even saved us money by recommending we only order 1 waffle at a time, due to their size. Great advice cause the waffles are WAY bigger than you would think! Food was great again! I will return here and recommend it to others. read more

My husband and I are regulars at the Tech Road IHOP. We moved to the area in 2013 and have made this our place. One thing about IHOP no matter where you go in the country, it's pretty consistent. The menu is the same, the service pretty much the same. Everything is the same reliable fare. Not Tech Road. Tech Road is FAR SUPERIOR in every way to any IHOP we have been to. The place is clean, CLEAN. That's very noticeable to me as I have worked in restaurants and know that if the bathroom isn't clean, then the kitchen likely isn't either. I've walked out of restaurants because of that alone. Okay now to the good stuff.... The first thing I noticed on our first visit to TECH ROAD is the special way they arrange the half & half in the little bowls. Anywhere else it's just a little pile of containers thrown in the bowl. Who cares? Well, they do. They care that everything is done right. This is the only IHOP my husband I have been to anywhere in the country that provides boysenberry syrup and also heated maple syrup. The food is so much better at this IHOP than at any other and the service is always exemplary. On Saturdays and Sundays there is a crowd waiting to get in. Never fear. These people are fast. Just give your name inside and they'll likely have you seated in about 20 minutes. The wait is worth it. Open 24 hours a day. We love this place. Thank you, Cameron. Thank you, Dewey. Thank you, LA. For impatient readers - let me first say that this IHOP is wonderful. It has been a true g_d send for our family, and I'm sure other families with elderly parents and relatives. It's an IHOP ..... meaning the food is generally good to very good for a semi-fast food restaurant ....but the service we usually receive is EXCELLENT. Kudos to all of the managers, specifically including Kamran Sarlak, Allen ("Big Al"), and Robert; the assistant managers; the servers; the cooks; and the bus staff. I cannot thank them enough for the good service and so importantly to me and my family - the respect and patience they show my almost 89 year old father and other elderly patrons (as I've observed on numerous occasions). I very, very, very highly recommend this IHOP. BACK STORY: On average, I HAVE to go to this IHOP restaurant at least once or twice a week...... E-V-E-R-Y week. My almost 89 year old father lives nearby and it is his favorite restaurant. He used to go to IHOP literally every D-A-Y..... yes, every DAY when he could drive. My father has severe short term memory limitations - I will leave it at that. As a result, for the last 6+ years, I have strongly encouraged his eating out instead of his cooking his meals. This IHOP was his choice. He can't drive anymore and has someone at home who helps with his meals, etc. Therefore, his daily IHOP days have been reduced to just a few days a week. As noted above, I accompany him once or twice a week. Pro's of this IHOP: 1) The excellent service. The managers and waitstaff are fabulous with my father and other elderly patrons. In no particular order of importance, they are good natured, patient, friendly, welcoming, knowledgeable, accommodating, and usually very attentive. They greet my father by name, know his regular orders, and frankly treat him like a celebrity. For a retired military officer with great pride, it means the world to him and to us that he is treated with the respect he deserves and has earned. I've observed that they treat other elderly patrons similarly; 2) The food is pretty good, actually. We all know that IHOP's are the weekend and breakfast go-to restaurants and this IHOP is well deserving of the patronage (see my photo's as an example; The coffee is also always good; 3) The prices are great for the 55+ crowd and not TOO bad generally; 4) The restaurant is open 24 hours; 5) The place is bright and well-lit. Con's of this IHOP: 1) It's starting to show it's wear; 2) The late night menu starts at 10PM, has higher prices for the same items on the all day menu, and has fewer selections - all reasonable, but still cons in my book. read more

This is hands down the best IHOP I've been to, ever, in my life. Over time, I have been conditioned to expect a very downscale experience at IHOP - as long as they give me my pancakes and let me stuff myself in peace, I'm good. We were in for a treat, though, when we came here after a swimming class a few weeks ago. After a short wait, we were seated by a very courteous host. Our server had worked there for over 10 years and it showed - she was skilled, friendly, and managed our table quite well. Terrific balance of friendliness and efficiency. Considering our table consisted of four adults and a baby in a high chair on a busy Saturday, I was super impressed! And the food was as I expected, and wanted - abundant, chock full of carbs, and hot - definitely hit the spot! I have to agree with the other reviewers, this IHOP is dope! The staff is really attentive and nice. It is clean and bright and the service was quick. I went on a Thursday night, got seated promptly and confirmed that they would honor an email I had for a free meal coupon (HINT - sign up for IHOP's member club, you get a free rooty tooty fresh n fruity coupon AND a coupon on your birthday!!). Sometimes when you present a coupon for anything free or discounted, you get the ole stink eye from servers - don't know why, maybe cause they don't think they will get a tip or something. Or cause they think you're cheap.... which I am regardless... the folks at IHOP were totally cool. The server checked on me a bunch of times and always had a smile on her face. I was watching the staff, they seem really cohesive and happy - like they enjoy working with each other. That makes a huge difference - food service work is no walk in the park and having a positive attitude impacts everything. I left a kick ass tip. Oh yeah, the food. It was good. Classic IHOP. Read a lot of positive reviews about this location so I had to see for myself. This IHOP location is always busy. First time I got here at 12:30pm and the wait looked like it would be 45 min so I came back the next day at 10:30am and it was just as busy. However, it was only a 15 min wait for a table of two. Before being seated I was happy to see that our booth was very clean. There were no left over tidbits from the last patron and the utensils did not have spots. Our food arrived very quickly and everything we ordered was correct. I was surprised that a location this busy would have great customer service but our waiter was very friendly and didn't hesitate to ask if we needed anything. Overall it was a great experience. I have relatives in Silver Springs so whenever I am in the area, I do come here for breakfast. I usually do only order breakfast (pancakes and bacon or whatever), also the few times I ordered from the actual lunch menu...I was not impressed with fried chicken or fish. Let's be honest, I don't ever go to IHOP for the food (or, as of a couple days ago, IHOB). As someone in the health and fitness field, it's not for people like me. But during Ramadan, going to IHOP/IHOB in the middle of the night is a Muslim American tradition. The other week, I dined here at 2:45am with my in-laws to a restaurant full of 42 diners. In spite of that volume, there was only one waiter--a guy named Ravi--who was serving everyone! Normally, that would spell disaster, but, somehow, he managed to get everyone's orders correct, and served everyone at roughly the same time so that few of us were ever left waiting while our companions ate. He would hurriedly carry orders to each table, then sprint back to the kitchen and repeat with each group of diners without ever stopping. It was nothing short of impressive! Everyone enjoyed their meals, and my omelet was fine, a solid 3 of 5 stars, but the service was commendable, clearly 5 of 5 stars. I hope it'll stay this way when I inevitably return someday in the middle of the night next Ramadan. read more
