I am sorry to say that my husband and I have given this particular restaurant three chances to improve their service. We have been extremely disappointed. Our last visit was the worst. The waiter was very inattentive, there was something floating in my tea, there was a raisin in my stuffed french toast with strawberries and vanilla (not supposed to be raisins in it!), my husband received sausage instead of the bacon he requested, and to top it all off, we waited for an extended amount of time and when we got our food, it was cold. First off, IHOP is a great restaurant for pancakes and a quick bite to eat. I'm just unhappy the way I was treated by the staff, went on a date with my girlfriend, the gentleman that was waiting on us had an attitude towards my Girlfriend. She just asked a few simple questions and then was just stared at without a response from the gentleman. Now during the day I know that serving can be challenging. I am a server as well but attitude is everything during dinner, and especially towards the customers. I just felt like he didn't care at all. He talked about taking a survey and calling him and I quote a "asshole" and he talked about how "shit" his service was. I will not be returning to this restaurant again. This was by far the worst experience I've ever had at an IHOP. We waited over 20 minutes for our food after ordering. (They were not even that busy, lots of empty tables) While we were waiting, we had to flag down a "manager" to ask for a drink refill.. that she never got.. Once we finally did get our food, it was cold! I ordered a waffle and it was so cold, it was getting ripped up when I tried to spread the butter! The other three in the party had the same problem with cold food. None of us are usually ones to complain, we have all either worked in retail or food service ourselves. But this was just unacceptable, everything was horrible! We flagged down our waiter to let him know and he apologized and said he would talk to the manager. A few minuted later the manager came out looking all pissed off. (This is also the same lady who was going to bring a drink refill, that never happened). We explained the situation and without even saying sorry (the most basic management requirement when dealing with an issue!) said she'd she what she could do and walked away. After a few minuted the waiter came back and said we'd only have to pay for the drinks and gave us coupons to join the "pancake club"... seriously... c'mon... We paid the bill and got out of there leaving our mostly untouched food behind. I can assure you that we will never return to that IHOP again if it is the same management as it is now. read more

I was not expecting much, with the "breakfast" at the Ramada a disaster we decided to do the IHOP. Yes it is a chain, but this location is doing it right -it is pretty big, so despite the large number of cars, wee were seated right away. I do not know if new or newly remodeled but this place was spotless. The menu is large and the crepes were a big hit. So unless you are looking for the PSU experience on College Ave - there is no reason to not come here for standard breakfast. read more

This IHOP consistently has poor service and I will never return unless all other breakfast spots shut down. Today, we were seated fairly quickly. However, it became obvious that we would be here for a long time after our waitress 10 minutes to get our drink order. Then after we ordered our food, we sat and waited for 45 minutes without any update from our waitress on the status of our food. When I asked, she said there was nothing she could do because it was up to the kitchen. She was as nice as possible, but there was an obvious lack of concern about our order. We have sat here for 45 minutes and there has been little interaction with the wait staff and no food. We have now received our food and it is burnt and missing certain ingredients. It is very cold which leads me to believe it's been sitting out for a while. Now we are waiting, again, to speak with a manager. Would not recommend at all. read more

I love Ihop in general but this particular ihop is consistently a disappointment. We've gone there on multiple occasion and have received terrible service. We usually have to wait 10 minutes for a server to even get our drink order and then another 20 minutes to get our drinks. Once you receive your food your server thinks their job is done and you will never see them again. We decided to give them another chance today, and after waiting 15 minutes at the front counter without an employee in sight to take us to a seat we eventually left. read more

NOT ALLERGY FRIENDLY This was my first time at an IHOP and I expected better. When we first walked inside, the seating hostess who was not occupied and didn't even acknowledge our presence. Even after we said hello. After we were seated it took the waitress about 15 minutes to come over to take our drink orders. I ordered a coffee. 20 minutes later our drinks came. No coffee. I reminded her and she said "it's on its way." I ordered bacon, eggs, hash browns, and sausage. I asked for no pancakes because they have batter with nuts in it which I am allergic to. She sends he manager over to talk to me about the food and see what I can eat. When the manager came she walked in, looked at me and walked away. No words were exchanged. The waitress was forgetful and didn't care about our orders. Took maybe an hour for our food to arrive at which time it was all cold. Also we had no utensils. I didn't have my coffee yet either. When I walked in there was no host at the table. Many servers walked passed us and didn't say anything to us for about five minutes. Once the host appeared he told us to wait 10-15 minutes for a table even though half of the room was empty. read more

I agreed to go to IHOP on a Sunday with some friends. I haven't been to one for quiet some time. This was a couple months ago right after they opened. Food was really good. Service suffered. Hard to get waitresses attention. ( I assumed it may because of this location having recently been opened). And the restaurant was packed which I also expected. I am pretty satisfied with my first experience at IHOP. I love how breakfast is served all day because there are not many diners in State College. My pancakes were delicious as well as the home fries. However, my eggs were cooked a little more than over-easy. I was so excited when IHOP came to State College, but this one is just ridiculous. Had mediocre visits there in the past, hadn't been back in well over a year, decided to give it a try. Bottom line on my last visit is this....Never, ever again. The place was not busy, but the server did not one time come back to my table after bringing my meal. My $2.39 cent beverage that comes in a glass equitable to a Dixie cup desperately needed refilled to wash down the crappy food they served me. My server chose to stand up front and shoot the breeze with the hostess rather than ever come back to one of her two tables. I mean, wow. At least go stand in the kitchen and hide so I can't see how inattentive you are to customers! We made our name "squad" for the wait as a funny joke and the manager (I believe Jade?) made a point to come up, announce "squad party of 7" then ask a group of 20 year olds if they would like kids menus. She however was not joking and it was very unprofessional of her. It made it even better that as soon as we sat down, the older couple behind us complained how cold their food was and she was a saint to them. I was super excited to eat at an IHOP my friends went to one in Union Deposit down in Harrisburg and thought it was amazing. So took my family to the one here in State College I am pretty sure my bacon was left in the fryer for three days it was beyond over cooked beyond burnt practically disintegrating wish I took a picture my eggs were cold and my daughter didn't get all the food that came with her meal they just forgot her bacon probably couldn't scrap anymore out of the fryer think I got the last piece. I am hoping the waitress was new cause she didn't know anything about the meals and forgot that kids eat free everyday from 4-9 and charged us for the 2 children. I was really disappointed and my family agrees we can't think of a place that has been worse. Wow, I have eaten at IHOP's before but this was plain awful. We were seated and about 5 minutes later another group was seated behind us. The waitress stopped the hostess and said you just double seated me. It was lunch time and the hostess had seated 4 other groups before seating the group behind us. So after a short argument with the hostess she comes over and hands us the syrup that she was filling and says put these back for me, I just got double seated so I will be right back. Ummm, syrup is your job and I am more than happy to help if you ask, and I don't really care that you got double seated it is lunch time, suck it up. When she finally came back to get the drink order she was upset because the syrup was not right. She told me to fix it. (She was going to clean the table when we left she could fix it then if it was a big deal) Drinks then came and she took our order while still complaining about being double seated. When the food finally came it was brought by a runner and not our waitress who we never saw again until after the meal was done and she came by and dropped the check on the table. Problem Fried Chicken was over cooked, mashed potatoes look like someone took a table spoon and put one scoop on the plate, corn was rubbery, plate that had Belgian waffle on it was hotter than the waffle. After the meal the hostess asked how the meal was and I told her terrible and she got me the manager. He took care of our bill for us, but seemed to care less about that fact that his employee was very sub par. read more

Once you walk into this establishment your first thought would be "why didn't I bring a sweatshirt?" Very cold and uncomfortable. The seating isn't the worst, if you are in the front dining area. Seating anywhere else however is a real miss. Very cramped and crowded with the occasional clean table. Ordering food is the next obstacle. It usually takes 10-15 minutes on a slow day to be noticed in the first place. After ordering, you can't really be sure when you will get your food. Me and my party of 4, waited and hour and a half for our food. When the food had arrived to us, it was cold and lacked the comfort that IHOP usually carries. And to top it off, kitchen workers were pouring the grease into the bushes out behind dumpster. I will not be returning to this IHOP again and I suggest that others do the same. read more

Terrible service The place was not busy, but it took 30 minutes to get our food. People around us who came in after we had ordered were served their meals before we were. Eggs were cold. We had to ask for silverware and before that, had to stir our coffee with straws. Our wait person was AWOL almost all of the time. We will not be returning. Hostess was very rude; while we were parking he was in the lot swearing on his phone to someone, when he showed us to our table he slammed our menus on the table and walked away. My boyfriend and I went here today. We had such a horrible experience! My boyfriend got pancakes it automatically came with hash browns. He also ordered the 2 eggs and bacon. I got the bacon cheeseburger. We never saw our server except when he took our order and brought our check. Our food came the server who brought it out was nice enough to get us silverware and refills as our server Esteban hadn't been back to our table. My boyfriends 2 eggs were more like egg crumbs.. My boyfriend got hash browns that he didn't want so I ate them, or at least tried to eat them... They were so undercooked it was disgusting... My bacon cheeseburger or I guess I should say cheeseburger since it didn't have any bacon was so dry even drenching it in ketchup didn't work... We would have told the server all this but again we never saw him. He came back set the check at our table before we could even say anything. When we got up front to pay the hostess asked how everything was, we told and him he was very nice and agreed that was disgusting and that'd he'd get a manager. We waited for 10 minutes and she came out answered the phone and left again without talking to us, we waited another 10 minutes and I finally told my boyfriend just to get in line and pay that it wasn't worth it because obviously she didn't care, and I was right... When she finally came out just as we were about to pay instead of apologizing she made excuses. "Well we all run each other's food it's what we do" "The kitchen makes mistakes sometimes I'm sure you know how it is" "We were busy that's why you never saw him" They weren't busy.. Honestly the worst service I have ever seen. My daughter, who is 6, and I went to IHOP in state college at about 8 am. There were only 8 other customers in the whole restaurant and not one server or hostess to be seen. We waited 15 minutes at the seating kiosk before seeing a server delivering food. I caught thier attention and they gave me a "wait a minute" finger with no verbal or eye contact. About 5 minutes later someone finally strolled out and sat us. When I spoke to the manager about our wait he denied that we would ever wait that long. Although I got up to leave my daughter wanted to stay and eat so we did. Her food came out Luke warm at best and my omelet barely had cheese melted on it. When I got the check and went up to the cash register there again was no one to be seen. After about ten minutes of waiting myself and 4 other patrons just left the restaurant frustrated. This business needs a serious revamp in service and cooking skills! read more

By far worst experience ever. My husband and I decided to try it out because we had never been. When we walked in we weren't even greeted with a hello. The host/server just yelled to another server in the dinning room "do you know who's next to be sat?" The other server yelled back "I have no idea what's going on!" There were other people eating right there as they were yelling back and forth. Finally after 5 min they figured out where to seat us. The girl who sat us ended up being our server, didn't say her name or anything. She took our order, food came out. My husbands was cold but was done eating by the time our server came back to check on us. We could hear all of the employees yelling in the kitchen and heard our server say we were her last table, so I knew she had cared less about us. She dropped the check off and when she came back after we had put money in it, we had all of our plates pushed to the side. She asked if she could get anything out of our way, usually meaning the plates pushed to the side. When we said yes she only grabbed the money and walked away. My husband and I have both worked in a restaurant for many years. The place is run down, staff is rude, untrained and unprofessional. There was no sign of a manager anywhere.
