This place was good. I simply ordered a bacon egg and cheese with crispy potatoes on a biscuit. The bacons and eggs were cooked perfectly and the biscuit you can tell was like just maid like 2 minutes ago. Which is a good thing. And I also got a cinnamon pancake thing. It was so fluffy it reminded me of the cinnabon company. The waiter was nice taking my order. The only thing that was slightly a problem was the chocolate milk. It just tasted a little off. He stepped up, and so did his staff, to lift her up and help her feel that ahould could do the job. It's nice to see the positive reinforcement. I have passed this particular iHOP a million times and lets be honest to get to Holiday City South from the 70, you pass this iHop and can miss it if you are not looking. I have the best memories of iHop from when I was growing up and it's kinda of fun to take Mini-Me to a place that is still around and doing it right from when I was a kid. Today after taking the Parentals to the eye Dr's, they were starving and frankly so was Mini-Me and I. Pops suggested iHOP and who can resist the home of the Original Rooty-Tooty-Fresh-'N-Fruity, I certainly can't. Jonathan was our server and he was fantastic, right away we were seated and he requested drink orders- COFFEEEEE of course and a large apple juice- he gave us plenty of time to figure out our orders and was very patient. Pops and Mom ordered from the SR Menu- the 2x2x2 and the Rise and Shine. Eggs for both were cooked perfectly and the rye toast- not sure of the brand and forgot to ask was nice thick slices with lots of melted butter- very good according to mom. Mini-Me had the "Build your own omelette" -with cheddar cheese & the cheddar & jack cheese blend & spicy jack cheese, spinach, bacon & ham a side of bacon extra crispy and a side of hash browns- she has a hollow leg. Her omelette was fluffy- packed with all this cheesy goodness, bacon was perfect and the hash browns with a few good shakes of the Queen of hot sauces Ms. Cholula, she was a happy camper. I had the build your breakfast- 2 eggs over medium, 2 sausages, hash browns and 2 blueberry pancakes ( no butter, blueberry compote or whipped creme) I am a purest when it comes to my iHop blueberry pancakes. The meal was filling and we enjoyed great conversation. Came here with my mom on march 12th, and it was an absolute delight. The servers were so sweet and thoughtful, making sure we had everything we needed. Our server was Bri, who seemed to be training, but as a server myself, I can say she was doing an absolutely great job. Dwayne was the manager on duty and when I say he goes above and beyond, I absolutely mean it. He made sure we were comfortable where we were sitting, that all of our food came out alright, and even brought us coffee/tea to go. It was a great experience, and the service made it even better. But after eating breakfast at IHOP this morning - ordering the split decision breakfast I have to say it was a complete waste of money. Located very near the Clarion Hotel where we stay, it would be walking distance but the roads don't allow for walking so its a short drive up then circle back. Right opposite McDonalds. Its a nice clean IHOP, the best of the ones in Toms River. Goof service and remember to use your AARP for a small discount. read more

I'd give this dump a zero star if possible. The bald headed manager was rude and moronic, and the dining room was both dirty and smelly. The restaurant stunk. We left without trying the food. Decided that we didn't want food poisoning! Do yourself a big favor and skip this smelly, dirty dump. If one word could describe this location it would be dead. My family and one other here for dinner. We were greeted by a manager who then seated us behind the only other family dining. Lots of smiling young wait staff until we met our waitress miss dead. Zero friendliness zero personality. Rude and can't handle the simple task of taking an order. My mother in law ordered off the 55+ menu told her what she wanted and she said that's not what it's called she flipped through the menu to see that my mother in law was correct she asked her what kind of sides there was she grabbed the book and put it down on the table. My husband asked for chocolate chips on his pancakes (which she forgot) so she says let me get them for you ice cold puts them in a bowl and said throw them on NO THANK YOU that's so rude. My daughters food comes out scrambled eggs with cheese the cheese was ice cold and slapped on the eggs I peeled it off and left it to the side NOT PAYING FOR THAT. my food comes out the philly steak with fries. Fries ice cold as if they were laying for hours. Why would anyone want cold fries. In fact it's my biggest gripe with restaurant chains. She took my entire plate and I waited an additional 5 minutes to eat. She was so annoyed with our table that she went and confronted her manager in front of us I guess to cover her own ass makes you wonder how many times she has to cover up behind her manager. The manager was nice explained he took off the things we were not happy about however she still continued to be our waitress. I hate IHOP! I really do not like going to IHOP! I am not happy when I have to go to IHOP! The food is usually nasty and the service usually is not good... BUT this is the best IHOP I have ever been to!!! The good was good, the service was great, and it was a pleasant experience! I got the chicken fried steak and eggs (cheesy/scrambled), with toast instead of pancakes. While they dowsed the toast in what looked like popcorn butter, everything else was actually pretty tasty! My gf and her sister got waffles and other basic breakfast things and we were all happy with the taste as well as the service! If only other IHOPs could model themselves off this IHOP they would be such a better chain!!! read more

This was my mom's first time to an IHOP, and I'm happy we came to this one because we got good service and good food. I also appreciate that it was clean and didn't smell weird inside. We both got pancakes with some other stuff and the food came out impressively quickly. I don't know what exactly is egg substitute, but my meal came with that and it actually didn't taste weird. The turkey bacon, though, could have been plastic. Seriously. It wasn't the texture of food. Turkey bacon aside, pancakes were great. They also have sugar free syrup if you ask for it. I haven't been to an IHOP in a really long time, and I was really impressed by their menu. They have calorie counts listed for every single dish, and they even designate the ones that are under 500 or 600 calories. They also list suggestions for cutting down the amount of calories in your meal (no butter on pancakes/sugar free syrup/etc). I think it's great they're doing this because this way people know exactly what they're ingesting. read more

Very extensive diner-like menu, with a loyal staff at this particular establishment. Try and have a few spare dollars on hand to donate to Children's Miracle Network Hospitals! I do love me some IHOP. This was a good one too - it's by a HoJo's, so if you blink you miss it, but in a good spot on Rt 37. Then the service there was great, our waittress was a real sweetheart. As for the food, it's an IHOP so you get what you pay for. I had blintzes that were AMAZEBALLS, and you can get yours with strawberry, blueberry or apple cinnamon compote. Service was absolutely horrible, my husband had gotten a simple order with scrambled eggs(was not scrambled, cold and not mixed) I had ordered regular pancakes and home fries all of which was freezing cold looked horrible. Their server Marc and their manager at the time who would not give his name were both very rude and disrespectful. As a paying customer you should be as polite and accommodating as possible. How IHOPs are still open is beyond me. Dry eggs... How do you make dry eggs?! They ant even bother mixing your cheese into your dry eggs, they just stick a slice of Kraft cheese on top and bring it to you. This is by far my favorite IHOP in NJ or NY for that matter. The pancakes are really, and I mean really good here. There is always a wait on the weekends but my husband and I stop here all the time, especially if we are on our way to Atlantic City which is pretty often. We love it so much that we drive all the way from Brooklyn if we are in the mood for IHOP. The food is fresh, delicious and the service is also very good here. The bathrooms are kept clean and although the waiting can be a pain, it is usually not a very long wait and it is so worth it....You will not be disappointed if you like IHOP because like I said, this one is one of the best Ihop you will ever find.! read more

Ihop is all about making you feel like youre home away from home. This is not the case with the Toms River Ihop. The food is ok since it is a corporate menu. Kind of hard to mess that up. But when pancakes and eggs come out ice cold, something is wrong. The wait staff is very inept at doing even the simplest of tasks. The management is indifferent to their inadequacies. It should not take 15 minutes on a week day in the winter (Toms River is a resort town) for a server to bring you more coffee. Especially when there are maybe 10 patrons in the restaurant, and additional staff. The manager will spend an hour talking to one table, and not even mention to the server that a table needs service. Only thing keeping this from a 5 star is the noise level. Come on people, learn to control your kids. Maybe I was just there at a bad time. ( Sunday morning.) And learn to respect other peoples breakfast time. The table next to us was overly loud. BUT! The service was very good, and the waitresses are courteous, and friendly. Exactly what you'd expect from an ihop. Good food, good service, good prices. Nothing special but nothing to complain about.

The meal was reheated. Rubbery and hard. Burned. Sent the plate back to the kitchen and the manager removed it from the bill. Other tables had similar issues including serving cold food. One waitress told a table they should photograph the meal. The manager wasn't interested in commentary only to get the problem tables cashed out and gone. Ineffective management. Poor food quality. Worst service i ever had. the eggs were not cook like I had order them and crepes were raw. Why ask for how I would like it cooked? if your going to give me raw crap anyway. 3 other tables that were seated after us were server 24 minutes before us and besides being cooked (uncooked) it was cold. Other reviewer from Philly got this one wrong, There are two Ihop's in Toms River, both on Rt. 37. This one on 37 east shown in the interactive map above is excellent. The other one on 37 west is a gross, tourist dump and is surely the one described by James. This Ihop is just a few more minutes away and is newer and exceptionally clean. It is my go to breakfast place in TR. This Ihop is tucked away in a strip mall and is rarely, if ever crowded. I never had to wait for a table after many visits. On the last visit they rolled a few fresh spinach leaves into my wife's spinach omlet and placed a few on top. It made for a beautiful presentation and was a nice surprise coming from a chain restaurant like Ihop. The restaurant is split into two separate dining areas. My only criticism is that sometimes they try to cram everyone into one half of the restaurant and try to leave the other half clean. I understand this makes less work for them and I have seen other restaurants do the same. It can make for an unpleasant dining experience being in a crowd. It can also cause some resentment from diners seeing so many open tables just a few feet away. I would have given this place 5 stars if it was not a corporate chain. You are not going to taste anything new, creative or gourmet from this place. It will always be the same menu served the same way but they do it very well. This place has a clean, fresh interior, excellent food and friendly service. read more
