Waffle breakfast combo (or whatever it was called).
    Kwame S.

I stopped by this IHOP on an early Wednesday morning (around 7 am), and I had a pretty pleasant dining experience. Fortunately for me, the restaurant was fairly empty so there weren't any issues with waiting for a table or food. I ordered the basic waffle breakfast combo, and everything was delicious. My server was pretty on point and did not leave me waiting for anything. Also, the restaurant was very clean. Parking seems to be the only minor issue: The parking lot is pretty small. Also, you will have to parallel park alongside a wall or gate, which means either the driver or the passenger(s) will have some difficulty getting out of their vehicle. While I did not have an issue with parking (since I arrived around 7am on a weekday), I could see parking being a nightmare during busy hours.

    Spinach & Mushroom Omelette

I'm not gonna lie, the parking situation is difficult since the space is so congested, would recommend taking the bus or metro next time to arrive. We were attended right away and the order did not take very long to prepare. It was also congested inside the restaurant, tight space and hard to manuveur. We ordered the spinach and mushroom omelette and a big steak omelette. They were decent and filling, although it is missing s & p which they have provided on your table. I do appreciate how they updated their menu and offer options for all diets.

    Supposed to be avocado toast

I couldn't not write a review. EVERYTHING was bad. Coffees came out quick but then my daughter's choc milk took 15 minutes to come out after obvious attitude from the server as if we were inconveniencing them. Like what? We patiently waited 30 minutes before we finally asked the status of our food. 1 more minute was the answer. Ok fine. Another 20 minutes and still nothing which prompted me to get up, walk to the front and ask. Almost ready. At this point there's like maybe 2 other tables being waited on. Wth is going on!?! Food comes out. Eggs are not cooked right except for mine (they were scrambled). They removed one meal but only because the eggs on the avocado toast were still jiggling at us. It's like they threw it on the grill and forgot they just put them on (see pic). Not to mention they put the eggs on first and 2 tiny slices of avocado which is not how you make it. I guess it was take your child to work day. Stay away from this place.

Received order an hour after the promised pick up time. Asked for no cheese. Guess they didn't get the memo..

I had such a terrible experience, terrible enough to write an email to corporate about it. I placed an order through the app, with the pick up time being for 10:08pm (order placed 9:53pm). I arrive at 10:40 to pick up my order which gives extra time to have my order ready incase they were busy. I really wanted to limit my exposure outdoors due to my girlfriend being pregnant, and wanted to reduce to exposure time to the outside as much as I could. By the time I arrive, my order wasn't ready. They were really busy, so I tried to give at least 10/15 mins of leeway time and tried to be patient. Finally received my order at 11:12pm...mind you the pick up promised time was 10:08pm. When I got home, I checked the meal (steak burger). I asked for no cheese and IHOP sauce. Guess what? It had cheese and IHOP sauce. I normally don't complain but given the long wait time and inaccurate order I was really frustrated. Sad part is I frequent this location and really enjoyed the food and service...guess no more IHOP for me;not here at least

they bare put anything on my birthday cake pancakes, im very disappointed im there service

Do not use you'll be waiting forever

It is widely regarded as an "old-school" diner, characterized by its narrow layout, chrome swivel stools, and floor-to-ceiling glass windows. The diner was opened in September 1982 by Nick and Sophia Markopoulos. Nick, who immigrated from Greece, had a long history in the restaurant industry before establishing this Wheaton staple. The restaurant has remained a family affair for its entire existence. While Nick has officially retired (recently celebrating his 75th birthday at the diner), the day-to-day operations were passed down to his children, George Markopoulos and Heather Markopoulos. The menu is centered on traditional diner staples with a few unique family recipes. Guests frequently praise the large portions and the "old-school" preparations, such as blueberry, banana, or chocolate chip pancakes, corned beef hash with eggs, and the "Meat Lovers" omelet. The menu also includes a variety of cold and hot sandwiches, house-baked ham, and their famous home fries. I have been to Nick's Diner many times in the past, but had not written about this "old school" diner. But what really sets this finer apart is the super friendly service and welcoming attitude of every server. Most dishes are prepared in their flat iron skillet, but the cooks manage to put out expertly prepared and delicious breakfast and lunch dishes. It is always a pleasure to order my favorite, the turkey club on toasted whole wheat with Swiss cheese and bacon, always served with a generous side of potato chips mounted on top of the sandwich. If you are looking for an authentic, old-school diner experience, I fully recommend Nick's Diner!

Really solid four stars and a strong recomend fora cozy, relaxed and casual dinner with your partner, freinds, yourself or family. The only note is parking in their lot is nigh impossible some times, so your best bet is to find street parking nearby and drop anyone who can't walk all that far. If you don't drink they seem to have a limited NA beer selection, and I didn't see any mocktails. We really liked our beet salad and our Ceasar salad, which came out os fast, I wonder if they already had them prepped. I really liked my fish and chips as it was a nice portion and wasn't heavy on the frying at all. It was very well done and the tartar sauce was great. My wife got the (I think it was a special) Tuna poke for her main, which she said was really tasty. But, it also looked like a small portion in one of those weird plates that only had a modest divut in the middle for food. Nonetheless, she liked it a lot. If it becomes a mainstay, they just need to make it a bigger portion on a better bowl. We're happy we finally came and will return.

The brussels sprouts were a standout to start, and the mussels in the coconut curry had a rich, well-balanced flavor. I also really enjoyed the grilled Faroe salmon with the butternut squash purée--it was cooked perfectly. The steak frites with the red wine mushroom reduction glaze was another favorite and definitely worth ordering. For drinks, I tried the Cherry Blossom "Another Trip Around the Sun" (a seasonal cocktail available through April 12th), along with the brown sugar old-fashioned and the lavender French 75. All three were well-made and complemented the meal nicely. Overall, this is a solid spot if you're looking for a cozy atmosphere, good food, and quality cocktails. I'd definitely come back and would recommend it to anyone in the area looking for a reliable dinner spot.

October 2019 visit: My girlfriend of that time & I visited for coffee & crepes. I remember it was kind of expensive for the crepes, which a fancy pastry. I'm clearly not a big crepe person. Crepes at Java was decent, but expensive for what you get. Coffee was decent but nothing to write home about either. Staff wasn't terribly friendly either. This was a place I wasn't going to rush back to. June 2020, Very bad day: As I stated in the opening paragraph, Covid was a tough time. I was living in a studio apartment in Wheaton, so I was happy when the office had reopened from being closed during the early part of Covid. I believe I was coming from the office in Columbia and had work travel to Herndon, VA. That same girlfriend, who had just become an ex, wanted to meet for lunch. I was cool with going to Chipotle in Kensington as it wasn't too far out of the way from 495. There was no dine-in at Chipotle or anywhere at this time. So, we took the food to go and were parked on the Java Nation side. Java Nation wasn't busy. They had tables set up outside, and we wanted to quickly eat. The Java Nation woman barked at me saying you can't eat that here. Geez...give me a break...Covid was a tough time. That already annoyed me. We were starting to eat in her car like animals. She got VERY upset & angry that I didn't mention a trip I was going on. I said that it was very small gathering of just 5 of us, they wanted to keep limited, and we are broken up as that's why I didn't include you! She spelled her Chipotle on me, which was more than half of the bowl she hadn't eaten. I yelled at her in the parking lot saying you wasted food, how dare you do that. I was shaking with anger and upset that this happened. An observer some guy in the parking lot going to Five Guys or wherever said just let her go. I was already angry and flustered with my ex but also was upset with Java Nation, I poured whatever leftover of hers that didn't get on me on the table since they were jerks and wouldn't let me eat there. The woman at Java Nation was angry and said she was calling cops. I apologized and offered to clean, but it wasn't good enough. I rushed peeled out of the parking lot as I didn't want to deal with cops and rushed to get into Virginia to do my work travel, which had already been delayed because of the ex's craziness. In summary, after this terrible experience, which to be fair was partially my fault as I was flustered by the ex, I don't feel comfortable going to Java Nation in Kensington, but I wouldn't rule going to the North Bethesda one or any other if it ever made sense for me to go, but haven't been back in the 5.5 years since then. I decided to give 2-stars and not 1-star because the 2019 experience was decent enough. Covid was a weird time, and if I went back to Kensington (which I won't), it'd probably be more like 2019 except with higher prices.
