I got the Yelp deal ($5 for $10) and had no problem redeeming it. Ordered a piece of Greek quiche with sourdough toast, and a specialty drink. My companion ordered a blended java chip and a piece of coffee cake. The barista was cheerful and friendly in taking our order and bringing it to our table. The quiche was warm and cheesy, with a pleasantly soft crust. I gather they get it from Allann Brothers. My drink was the "cinnamon bun", a white mocha with cinnamon and caramel. It really smells like a cinnamon bun! was very delicious, but a tad too sweet. My previous experiences have been similar- really good coffee drinks, extra sweetness. If you have a sweet tooth then this is the place for you. read more

I've been coming to the Ike Box for business and pleasure for some time but have only bought hard boiled eggs as they didn't carry unsweetened milk alternative or heavy whipping cream for my no sugar lifestyle. Now they do! I got coffee with heavy whipping cream. They brew 3 different coffee varieties, all made from Sisters Roasters, a local to Oregon coffee roaster. They're all fairly good. On their menu they've added a low carb breakfast option. I'm delighted by this! This consists of an egg patty with or without bacon, cheddar cheese, and a sausage patty. Tastes amazing and reasonably priced as well. They have breakfast sandwiches for those who eat bread and a selection of baked goods such as scones, bagels, and bread pockets with meat inside. The staff is friendly and service always excellent. Lots of seating however always busy so you may have to wait for a table. Parking is precarious as they're located downtown and you'll have to pay to park. Meter maids are hot n heavy so don't risk it unless you can afford the ticket. Besides all this, the Ike Box supports a youth program for local youth providing job education and positive resources. This place is an all around good business for Salem and I highly recommend a visit :) read more

Ike Box is a great coffee spot. I've been in a couple of times and really enjoy the laid back kind of feel. A perfect place for an afternoon with a laptop or a good book. Probably not the best place for a business get together, but a great spot for groups to meet at. They have a lot of space and you wont feel crunched with a group of 12. The coffee is the serious highlight of Ike Box. They put on all ages shows sometimes too. They used to be the only all ages place in town aside from house parties but now there are a handful, which is great since I truly mean sometimes. If you come for a rollicking night life I would point you elsewhere. If you do happen to stop in on a night with live music, you are in for a family friendly show. Nothing hardcore, or harsh, and (sadly) no hip hop or rap (we still need a good venue for this in town). They get seriously packed like a preteen's dream night out, which can make you feel your age if your age is above 18. I can only speak for the nights I've gone, but a better bet might be any night they Don't have live music. All in all, I come for the coffee but stay for the couches. read more

Helpful, friendly, upbeat staff who seem genuinely happy to be there, I was there Tuesday night at 7pm. Got the $5 for $10 deal, used it immediately to buy 2 Apple ciders and a spinach pocket with tzatziki! Yummy. Learned that the apple cider is actualy made with real Apple cider juice and the options; spiced is with cinnamon and caramel is with a shot of caramel. One of my favorite study spots. They have wonderful chai (they sell My Chai and another type of chai that is also good). Their other teas are good too! The food is pretty basic, but it's good on-the-go food and you get better variety than some of the other local coffee shops. They have nice sized tables, lots of available tables, and lots of good nooks and crannies that you can pick a seat. There is almost always a table with an outlet accessible if you have your computer with you. It's a great place to go by yourself or if you are in a group. read more

BIG MISTAKE to chose this venue to reconnect with family after many months apart! They drove up from the south valley to be here, and I was embarrassed I had suggested Ike Box to meet and have lunch!! The "hot" food was barely warm, the toast was burnt, dry, and the heel of the loaf! I am feeding it to the birds. The other couple chose panini, and the server didn't bring out the chips, didn't seem to know panini came with chips, had to go back inside to get them. Our guests said the panini didn't taste good, either. Presentation was awful, (to-go boxes, sandwich bags, no tray, no panache, kind of tossed on the table---awful!) the server had no personality, no social graces, couldn't wait to dump off the food and race back inside. Food staff need to bathe and dramatically improve grooming. Not sure they should be preparing something people eat. Ugh!!! The total for our meals was $38.50, and might have been worth $5-6 total (mostly for drinks). With restaurants crying for customers, this place really needs to up their game! I say, don't waste your time. Find a place that has good food, treats you well, staff that is clean, well presented, and knows what they're doing! This place does not!!! Good coffee, friendly staff, and a bitchin' structure that's cozy enough to sit down and host a reading group for those that need to learn how to read... Or if you're not feeling like such a giver, like this guy, then you can bring your book, laptop or favorite friend and get down to work or have an exhilarating conversation. It's in downtown Salem and there are plenty of Birkenstock wearing folks complete with Oregon Ducks/Trailblazers gear and that just makes me feel at home. I have to be frank- I am not a huge fan of the chai tea at the Ike box. The main reason being that it is way too sweet. Other than that, I love their collection of pastries and bagels. The area is spacious and has several conference-style rooms in the back area. I am not sure if this place has AC during the summer. The couple of times that I went, only a couple of fans were on. That being said, I wouldn't recommend this place during those 100 degree dog days. But since it's Salem, this is not a problem for most of the year. read more

Good coffee, but staff needs one training. I wanted to know what was in the sausage egg burrito, besides sausage and egg. Three people could not tell me- the first guy said "I don't eat dairy so I have never had it". The second girl said " I don't eat meat so I don't know what's in opt, and the third person just said they didnt know. You don't have to have eaten something to know what is in it! This place has a really cute atmosphere, it is in a great vintage building with lots of comfy sofas to sit on. Unfortunately, the food was terrible. Both the scone and bagel my mother and I had were stale and dry. Also, they got our order wrong (gave two small coffees instead of two medium coffees), but the wait was so incredibly long the first time we didn't have time to go back and wait again for them to fix it. read more
