So, rewind back to June when things in LA started opening up a bit. My partner and I headed to our closest IKEA (in Burbank) on a weekday only to find a line wrapped around the building--we're talking *hundreds* of people. I decided to bail because while we'd racked up a list of things we needed at home since quarantine started, nothing was worth waiting in that line. Fast forward to last week when we were finally able to get in an IKEA visit! I think the fact that we went on a Monday afternoon a few months after reopening made a big difference, as we had no wait time at all and it wasn't terribly busy inside. So, what's different since COVID started? Not a whole lot outside of masks and social distancing. IKEA is actually fairly conducive to COVID precautions as it already has a set flow of traffic and is a pretty big space. The cafe was closed onsite, but if you're really craving one of their Swedish snacks, they do sell them packaged to go after the check out area. Ikea has really impressed me with my most recent visit! While looking for items for our next room my girlfriend and I took a trip to the Covina location to look around. The prices are extremely reasonable and walking around the whole store is a fun experience. The food court was the real shocker. The veggie meatballs were excellent, the veggie wrap was even better, and the cheesecake was the perfect finish! The prices were honestly a shock to us for what they were as well, but in the best way possible. Cheap, delicious food in a food court? Amazing and an unexpected delight! They have a special of 15 swedish meatballs served with mashed potatoes, cream sauce and lingonberry jam for $3.99. If you have the Ikea Family card, you can get a free coffee every time you go there. Also, you can get discount on Ikea Family products that only members have. I bought the Alvine Kvist duvet cover and two pillowcases for $34.99 instead of $39.99. Their comforters are warm, the one I bought was $29.99 and keeps me warm at night despite it not being as fluffy as a more expensive one. The wait time can depend on how well the people know how to use the scanner in self checkout. After you finish shopping, you can get a frozen yogurt or cinnamon bun for $1 each. read more

There's an IKEA nearby? I've walked around and around and lived nearby but never really went inside the IKEA. It's fun if you never been, or if you really enjoy going inside model homes. You can go around and try to see what rooms look like so you can plan it accordingly if you are trying to remodel or something like that. You can see many different variations and try and see if you want this or that :P but first you have to find parking. You're most likely going to be parking onto their covered parking, which is a bit of a hassle. You have to try and look for a spot but may have to park a weeeee further away :P depending on the time. Then you go up and see there are lot of "Cheat" pathways there that you can skip different showrooms or workrooms. You know that you can't skip it, unless you don't have time and are rushing. Go to bedding. Go to kitchen. Your dream room. And as IKEA goes, they have really cheap things but be careful with the items. And they have long checkout lines! The wait for return/exchange is horrendous. Super slow. If you are number 10 and above the wait can be up to 45-60 minutes. During this time, I could have bought what I came in for so i ended going home and went to Walmart instead. The availability of certain furniture has been scarce lately. Some items wouldn't be restocked until 3-4 months later. Same items maybe available at the Burbank and Costa Mesa locations. Parking is ample. It can get busy between 11-3pm but when it gets closer to 4-5, there are less people. Staff used to be available at every corner before the pandemic but nowadays they are less conspicuous and available only at the stalls. read more

We got lost inside on our first trip here lol. The store is poorly laid out but it is worth all the trouble of getting lost. It is cheap! They have tons of great stuff! Its is 2 stories high with a parking garage and food court inside. the top level is the food court and show room. The 2nd level is the warehouse, snack bar, and market. They have rare imports in the market which I like. All of their home stuff is extremely inexpensive for what you are getting. The directions on how to put stuff together is all in foreign languages but honestly... just follow the pictures, it is so easy to put their stuff together. There was only 2 to 3 cashiers available at checkout so it was slow, and everyone was waiting a long time in line until it was their turn. Love IKEA, but customer service during this covid19 in the click & collect and return/exchange area needs some help. This experience was on July 29th around 5pm. I got my email directing me to look for signage for click & collect. Zero signage. So we drive upstairs and turn into a loading zone that says click & collect. Still looking for signage. No signage. Me: "No, click & collect." Lady: "You need to wait in your car." Me: "But how do you know if we are there?". Lady: "Your email should've told you about an app." My email says nothing about checking-in or an app. I'm trying to show her the email she continues to talk over me and ignore that I'm trying to ask about what she is referring to. Then she has the audacity to ask me if I'm listening? Woman! You're not even listening to me! I was getting really annoyed and yes, did give a little attitude but that happens when people are not letting me explain my situation and talking over me! Wtf! So after the back and forth she tells me I can wait in the area because there was a whopping number of 2 people in front of me! Then she has another associate help me. The young man was very nice. I, literally, was picking up a shower curtain and shower curtain hooks... apparently the signage was in the click & collect stalls. Just FYI for anyone doing click & collect. Follow the tiny signage upstairs and follow the tiny instructions hidden in the stalls or you'll get yelled at by the disgruntled employees. Do you see any instruction on checking in in my emails? Not gonna lie....I am here for the food. Love me some meatballs. But food aside, it's always a good spot to find gadgets or random furniture pieces that you might need. I do stray away from the larger pieces, only because replacement pieces are impossible to get a hold of without going direct through them. Other than that, it's always a fun little trip to go to ikea and buy things I never knew I needed. I've been shopping in Ikea for many years now, this time definitely my worse experience ever. So I purchased a big order before Christmas for my office and I think because of the holiday , the order got delay , but no notification, no text no phone call. At the first delivery fail, I called to reschedule, the worker told me reschedule to the 30th. They told me the delivery time period is from 9am-9pm so I have to wait in the office whole day. After half day though, I called to make sure , and find out they didn't reschedule. Ikea said they don't know what happens on the other side and had me call the delivery company. So I did, delivery company said they don't see any reschedule and they can change any thing on my account and have me to call Ikea . I call so many times , some workers said they can't reschedule. Finally on lady said I can help me reschedule to Jan 2. Today , I still didn't get any notifications or text or phone call. And I call the delivery company, they said my order is reschedule to Jan 3. I have some Ikea pieces of bedroom furniture for years and they are holding up just fine. Some of the designs can be a bit over the top but they also give you tons of options. Now, the customer service is a bit lacking. I sometimes feel like the reps are dodging interested customers. But once I ask for help they are really nice and assist me to the fullest. I went here on Sunday to do a return . First the line was empty, but they want you to register/ check in for returns. They asked for my phone number and name and was told that it's going to be 40- 45 mins wait right now . I was confused because the line was empty. The workers said, there are currently 15 people ahead of me , and was advised I can go shopping and they will text me . I respected their process and waited behind with the carpet I needed to return. However, after 15-20 I was waiting with 3 people behind me and they are also a bit irritated that there's a wait when there's clearly no people in line and employees are just chatting ! So I went up to the check in and asked the guy if I can go ahead since there's no one in line , and he basically blew me off and said I can't because I'm number 10th in line , I said where are the 9 people ahead of me, clearly there's nobody in line and I am not here to shop but simply do a simple return . He was rude and said I don't know what to tell you , but you have to wait . At this point this is a bad customer service . So I asked for a manager and he said well you can ask one of them for a Manager !!! Rude ! He did not even try to ask for me. So I went up to one of the employee and asked politely if I can return my item and ofcourse they took my return, done in less than a minute . So if I had not come up to one of the cashier, I would've waited another 40 mins for nothing . Their return process is unacceptable, i understand the covid restrictions, but having to wait for 45 mins when there's no line just doesn't make sense to me . I had told the other customers that was waiting to just come up because they will accept the return regardless . So whoever was working on the return check in stand between 2:30- 3pm on 02-14-21 might need a bit of critical thinking when talking to customers. Telling someone "I don't know what to tell You right now " is just so rude. There should be a better process about their returns. Similar to many of the recent reviews, we encountered the issue where the furniture we wanted was only available through furniture pick-up... You have to talk to an employee on the floor who prints out an item's description and barcode, which you then bring to the cashier, and you then go to furniture pick-up to wait for your furniture to be loaded on a cart. That whole process is an unnecessary hassle and I'm not a fan. We had to wait 30 minutes for our order number to be ready, only to be told our item was "inaccessible in the warehouse". An employee needed to get the item via a forklift, which they can't do during business hours. So we either had to come back after IKEA was closed or our item could be delivered the following day. We chose the delivery option, which was free, but we were given a 12-hour delivery window and had to sign to receive it. If only this had been conveyed sooner - when we waited for the item description and barcode, when we checked out, or sometime in the 30 minutes we waited just to leave without the item we had purchased. This defeats the whole purpose of buying furniture to assemble it on your own. The employees were very difficult to deal with throughout this whole process as well. This was an IKEA experience unlike any other. They've obviously changed their policies, for some reason I don't understand but trust there is logic too - but buyer beware before wasting your time unnecessarily. If I ever shop here again, I'll be buying furniture online to avoid this whole fiasco in the future. read more

I am very surprised that a company like IKEA would resort to stealing and lying to customers. I signed up for the IKEA family membership and decided to purchase a couch. I saw that the price was $599 with a $49 shipping fee, so I purchased that item and a table. When the items arrived, the shipper told me that one of the packages was missing and they had already noted it on their signature slip. I went online to IKEA to make sure I get the missing item and noticed that they had also overcharged me for the product and the shipping. I called the number that the chat rep gave me and the first customer service rep just sat silently on the phone while I could hear the background noise and eventually just hung up on me. The second time I called, I got someone who just kept repeating back to me how much they charged me according to the receipt and would not accept the fact that they overcharged me. OMG, So IKEA has reopened, and with everything that is COVID-19 related, we had to put the remodeling of our home office on hold. But yesterday we were able to finally make a trip out there. It was crazy there. We got to Ikea around 2pm, and when we got there, we saw a line that was the longest COVID live I've see at any story. And I shopped at Costco, Target, and the supermarket several times. This IKEA line went around their parking lot. And I know what some of you are thinking, it's because of social distancing that the lines are so long. Normally I'd be thinking of the same thing, but that wasn't the case. Though everyone I saw had on face coverings/masks of some sort, and it looked like family groups were standing together, the groups themself were not 6' apart. I closer you got the entrance, the line got more compact. People were just all up in each other's spaces. So here's what I recommend. Get their early to reduce your exposure to others. Today I had something to pick up for my a Dad and wanted to try there cafeteria. Place is always crowded with people. The line to pick out my meal was very short. The place is very clean and the folks behind serving were very nice. Been dying to try the meatballs dinner for some time. I only wish they gave more meatballs Lolol. I was very disappointed by Management team when I was escorted out because of my service dog. Evening management asked me to leave the store because my service dog barked ONCE as I was waiting for my furniture order. I showed the lady my service dog's credentials and she continued to asked me to exit the store. She stated " you're welcome to stay, but the dog has to leave"... I informed her that it was my service animal and showed her his credentials but she proceeded to discriminate. I felt targeted and bullied as she continued to ask me to leave. I was in the parking lot for over 2 hours. When IKEA finally figured out what happened, they told me my order was already picked up. They refused to issue me a refund. They tried to leave it at that. I finally got a manager. I showed her my empty trunk. I said nobody else knew about the order. Nobody else could have gotten it. And they gave it to someone else.
