IKEA is an experience all on its own. It's a huge warehouse, where you walk through the showrooms like a maze to see displays of IKEA made furniture & items. At the end, there will be areas to get said items & furniture. It's fun to go through the showrooms as they all have different themes and ideas for your home. What I love is their cafeteria that has window view of the city. The food is great. I love the sides and options that are given. IKEA is known for their Swedish meat balls, which you can buy frozen for take home. So good! I have plenty of ikea furniture I put together. The restaurant at the St. Louis IKEA is predictable in a good way. Food seems to be freshly cooked (not sitting on the serving line too long) and tasty. It's all pretty mild--even the Buffalo Chicken wrap. I love the Stockholm Salad, which is smoked salmon with potato salad and fresh greens. The meatball dinner, served with potatoes, a vegetable, and lingonberry jam, is hearty comfort food--perfect for a long shopping excursion. Don't miss the chocolate cake! Guests are served cafeteria-style, and seating options abound. The wifi's good, and no one seems to mind if you stay awhile and work or read while your companions shop. I love IKEA! It's fun to shop here and I can easily find myself lost for hours. It's worth stopping in the restaurant for a break, mid shopping. There's a nice views of the area from the big windows. What a bummer. The meatballs have literally gotten smaller with inflation. The soda machine wasn't working and the shelves were a sad state of empty. Start by driving around the building to the Southside (next to highway 40) to park underneath the building for protection. Next is go to the 2nd smaller "Bistro" to grab vegan bratwurst and a sparkling (low sugar... but not water) soda (keep the cup for free refills). The cinnamon roll might be a good buy on busier days, but mine felt like it was under the heat lamp too long. Coffee is another option. Skip the frozen pizza slice... Now shopping- If you have a toddler this place seems like the free Magic House for parents to allow toddlers to play house. Enjoy. College students will enjoy discussing wether Target or Amazon has better or cheaper items than IKEA. As for adults... IKEA gives me the choice of glassware and stainless steal for healthy homes vs only plastic. 3rd floor is mostly furniture and cafeteria (No Fountain drinks available)... but order a "side of Swedish meatballs" as a snack. 2nd floor is housewares and warehouse with bargains buys plus the smaller Bistro. I love the new self check outs and there are sooo many so I feel like the wait times to check out are much less. I love this store and the displays as I am a visual person so I need to see things set up to see if I will like it etc. It is hard to find employees I hardly ever see one. I like going to IKEA for their furniture, plants and food court. The furniture is easy to assemble and affordable. Their plants do last me a long time, especially for a person like me that does not have a green thumb. We went here last Sunday and got food from their court food. We got their Swedish meatball entree that came with sides of peas, mashed Potatoes and Lingonberry Jam, chicken tender with fries, garlic lemon cod with mashed potato, and BLT chicken wrap. And it's identical to every single other one out there. At least to all the ones I've been to. As for the restaurant. Hmm.....we didn't go at prime time and the store was very quiet when we went. We, of course, got the swedish meatballs and unfortunately ours were cold. The mashed potatoes were good, the peas were not mushy. But I don't know why I'm reviewing the food. I enjoy spending time here. Just walking around, looking at design is inspiring. I had issues with their return department few times during Covid but they improved their service and looks like it is all good now. IKEA stores in other places - 2 of 2 "ONE REALLY TALL IKEA" When I was in this area, I saw this big IKEA and made time to see it. As for this metro area and its one IKEA, it makes plenty of sense why it is where it is. It sits near a major interstate that crosses the city in an east-west manner and smartly between downtown St. Louis and the Clayton area, close to the area that might be called Mid-City, which is near the Central West End, the universities, the medical centers, and that hip(per) area with the Fox Theater. As I approached this IKEA, it looked really tall! That would be compared to other IKEA stores located in other lower density cities. Its restaurant, for which salmon, vegetable medallions, and free coffee/tea with the IKEA card were calling, was perched up quite a ways above the entrance. Part of it is that, in addition to the parking lot right in front of the store, there is parking underneath it. Once inside the entrance, there are sloped ramps with moving walkways and, in general, a layout you don't see at many other IKEAs. The restaurant is nicer than most. It's really vast, bright, and has taller ceilings, it seems. Then, confirming what I saw from the outside, sitting near the windows provides some views over city neighborhoods. This is more of a 4 star IKEA, but I find that trying to move the rating up or down turns into an exercise that cancels out and keeps it at 4 stars. Some unique pluses would be the restaurant with its "views" and the fact that you can take the Metrolink rail here, for which the station is about 2 blocks away. That's how I got to this IKEA store. Some minuses might be the somewhat disinterested service in the restaurant, the fact that when you try to leave the store after only wanting to eat here is more difficult than in other stores (and this is one big store), and that, as a stand alone item, the vegetable medallions (which I thought might have been called roulades) are now ridiculously priced. I was told they were $1.99 EACH. They've gotten wind of the fact that these bland but tasty side items are popular and they're cashing in on that. To that end, and assuming you like them, I would encourage you to select a meal platter in which they are part of the package deal. It's a cool enough IKEA to check out. Note that, from up high, you can only get a peek-a-boo glimpse of the uppermost part of the Gateway Arch. And, lastly, your Metrolink station will be Cortex, but it's not required that you be cerebral to use it. I'd say that many of the folks I saw at this station probably were not. read more

If I could give IKEA customer service zero stars, I would ! IKEA's customer service's automated phone system cut my call off 8 times after going through 4 prompts. Then the customer service representative did not even attempt to help me with my i IKEA's customer service is HORRIBLE. Update: My PAX order was delivered this morning. The shelves were shrink wrapped and packed in the delivery truck without any other protection so most of the 21 shelves were damaged. Some boxes were dented too. When I called IKEA, my call was disconnected after going through the numerous prompts. I called a half a dozen times and the same thing happened. This is the second time I have tried to contact IKEA and I cannot get through to anyone. IKEA thinks the answer to busy call volume is to hang up on customers who are calling. IKEA's automated phone system says that they are too busy to answer your call if you try to reach someone in the store. If you try to reach the online orders customers service, IKEA disconnects your call. So, I have damaged items from a delivery from IKEA, and I cannot contract them. I have never encountered a company that cares so little about their customers. read more

IKEA's food court is one thing I feel like people don't know how good it is. The Swedish meatball are so good, the lingonberry sauce that comes with it is my favorite sauce. That sauce is always something I look forward to. The almond cake was also delicious. It was my first time trying it and it wasn't to sweet which was perfect, it's very light way to end the meal. Now for their furniture selection is great. Looking at how they have all the rooms are designed, it gives you a good look how some pieces would look together and how big they actually are since it's already built. The service is great, they have people walking around helping you out if you don't know where something is or if you just have some questions about an item. read more

This IKEA seems like it's ready to board up the windows. When they first open everything was clean and pristine, just like other IKEAs. But now the soul of this store has withered away to dust. First, there's like one employee working the food court on a Saturday morning, when you'd think it's their busiest time. Line for food: 30 people deep. Line movement: 3 Swedish meatballs/hour. My family decided to just go straight to the area we came for and get food elsewhere. Most of the store is still everything you would expect from an IKEA with their living displays to make you feel at home, until you get to the bathrooms...which make you feel like your in the worst gas station bathroom without TP and it feels like it hasn't been cleaned in years. Like they sold the cleaning equipment. After filling our cart with a few things we hoofed it for the exit, where we discovered IKEA has gone the way of Walmart and installed numerous self checkout aisles and has only 2 staffed checkout lanes. Again, on a Saturday morning, arguably the busiest day of the week. While waiting in line I said I'll go get us some cinnamon rolls from the exit bakery. You know, the soft, sweet, succulent cinnamon rolls IKEA is known for? Oh right, the food court is shut down too. You can still get a fountain soda with a side of frustration. Visited this location today. Went to restroom. At that time a guy who retrieved cart approached means claimed I PUSH someone out of the way and he was security. He told me to leave and never come back. A manager appeared and said he was NOT security and never had a problem with me. He later said my BODY language was offensive? The cafe was probably one of the worst, so I do not recommend judging all locations cafeteria by this one. The selection was okay, staff not really present for most of our trip, prices seem to have been raised on most furniture items and style still the same. I absolutely love this place. The decorum and staged rooms always want to make me remodel every space in my house. Most of the smaller items, kitchenwares and things are very reasonably priced and of good quality. I found their furniture to be cute but seems a bit cheap as you knock on a table or sit in a chair or doesn't seem like it would hold up well. The beds and couches all seem to be extremely low. Now to the food... The cafeteria is quite heavenly. Even the fountain water tastes extra clean and delicious. A deliciously fresh breakfast of crepes and potatoes for $2 is unbeatable. I've never had anything here that tastes fake or processed. I've attended two of their special event buffets and although everything on the menu isn't for my palette it's always made with quality. I really appreciate that the kitchen staff seems to take pride in what they do, they are friendly, efficient, and true culinarians. You can't ever visit IKEA without getting some meatballs, gravy and ligonberry sauce. It really completes the Swedish experience. My only actual dislike is that no matter how many times you go, you seem to get lost trying to find your way out. There's been times I've wanted to buy things but because they only have one exit to where you have to go around the entire huge store and go through the warehouse just to get to the checkout, I have passed. So breakfast was decent and unbelievably priced at $2 for scrambled eggs, sausage, diced potatoes, & a Swedish crepe. Added on a latte for $1. With hunger at bay and a morning caffeine kick, I was ready to score some items I'd been eyeing online. Layout of every IKEA feels chaotic & this location is no different. I did appreciate that this location had a parking garage that I didn't notice til I'd parked & run in through the rain! Was looking for a display case and had two models in mind. Quickly realized I'd left my wall space measurements at home hours away(‍). Sooo... there went the display case plan for today. Also need to drive my mini van for larger item pick up. I clearly came with a plan of taking a display case home but not all of the lil details in hand. Wasn't willing to pay the delivery cost. In fact, I'm betting I can find a similar piece on Amazon with Prime delivery. Onto my next mission of a kids kitchen and accessories to donate to a local charity. Also a toy storage shelving unit with lidded slide in drawers for same charity. I gathered the kitchen accessories quickly enough and took photos of the tag for the kitchen & storage piece. Unfortunately at the item pick up warehouse area, the kitchen showed as out of stock until January. Would've been nice if IKEA posted large signage to this effect right on the display toy kitchens so we'd have known much earlier & would've left the store sooner! The storage piece was in stock but it took 20 minutes to find the right bins...& despite 200+ bins stacked up, there sat ONE lid. So back all of that went. We did indeed save $ (spent 10% of what we'd planned to spend)by attempting to shop IKEA... but only because of out of stock items & putting a storage piece back due to no lids for the containers needed. After this chaotic & frustrating waste of hours of time I think I'll stick to Amazon Prime or Wayfair for free shipping on similar wished for items. We did get inexpensive small juice glasses, flatware sets a friend asked me to pick up, two kids memory match games, a clearance napkin holder, and small items that added up to $35 or so. Upon exiting we learned that the IKEA shopping carts don't fit between parked cars to go through and get to your vehicle. I freaking love IKEA! I'm so excited St. Louis finally got one. I took my mother and aunt to the store for the first time last week. We shopped al day. What I love most about this brand is how they demonstrate a small, cute, completely functional space. Most places make you want to expand your rooms and the house, but IKEA makes you just want to clean things up and make a room function. They sell everything you could ever need. We also ate lunch here because we were taking our time to shop. The food was really good. I ended up even purchasing some of the meatballs and cream gravy sauce for home. Living in a city with IKEA has brought so many conveniences to my life. As soon as I moved to St. Louis, I picked out a few large pieces of furniture and had them delivered for a flat rate of $59, which is a great deal that everyone should take advantage of. It may just be me, but on my days off, if I had nothing to do, I would just come here for a quick lunch (Swedish meatballs, duh) and push a cart around to look for items for home improvement. I always stumble upon cute pieces of works or innovative designs. They also have a small plant section, which is wonderful for people like me who are practicing the art of a green thumb. There's only one IKEA in the whole state of Missouri, and, of course, I end up living ten minutes away! It's always a fun experience coming here, and I end up walking away with way more items than I intended to buy. Some of my favorite things: 1) The restaurant. Duh. Rumor has it that its sole purpose is to keep people coming in and buying more stuff. Hence, the low prices and good quality. Try the veggie meatballs if you haven't yet - the pre-set meal is just $3.99 and super yummy! 2) Cute yet simple designs that are easy to replicate. 3) The fun and interactive atmosphere of walking around and trying things! The main drawback is that a lot of items now seem pricey as other store chains keep growing. For instance, there's a line of leather chairs at IKEA that cost ~$150 each. I scored almost identical ones at Marshall's for less than half the price, so you get the idea. That said, nothing will replace IKEA for me! read more

I wish I could review the store and my experience separately. I will say the workers in the store were very nice and helpful and I have no complaints about them. The issue is we ordered furniture on the 13th and we were told it would be delivered on the 18th, there was a printed form they gave us confirming this. The 18th was yesterday and it was never delivered, in fact my delivery date got pushed back a week, this is not due to something not being in stock as I only paid for things that were currently in the store. I would have never known my delivery date had been rescheduled if I hadn't received an automatic text from from the delivery company saying they would be there on the 24th I have spoken to 7 different people in the customer service/resolution department, I used to work in customer service for years. I know how awful customers can be so I try to be very tolerant however I was lied to , hung up on twice and borderline gaslit by customer service employees several times. I still have never received a reason why my order date has changed and I don't think I ever will. read more

I have such a love/hate relationship with IKEA. Their products - love. Their website - hate. Their cafe - love. Their service desk - hate. I bought 27 items tonight that needed to be picked up at the service desk--we waited almost an hour for them. Meanwhile, half a dozen employees are chatting around me, meandering around, and the store is preparing to close with very few customers left. If this were an isolated incident, no problem, but I have never experienced efficiency at that desk. 9:00 pm+ and my 82-year-old mom and I are finally loading our car below, where they said there would be someone to help me. This Ikea was large, their checkout was on the 2nd floor and their showroom was on the 3rd floor. Since I knew what I wanted, I skipped to the warehouse section, grabbed a cart, went to the aisle for my items. I went right when it opened (like everyone else) and by the time I got to the checkout, they only had two cashier open. It moved slow, but thankfully they opened more lanes as more people needed to check out. Due to Covid-19, only one person is allowed on their elevator, so be mindful that you might need to wait a bit to go down to the parking area. read more

I love IKEA. Nothing not to like except....food court servers could be a tad bit cordial. I said hi, guy didn't say a word, just looked at me. Never spoke. Just ladled the food. Said nothing. I don't expect much but a smile would be nice. Everyone else in store that I spoke to was very nice. Makes me not want to eat there again. Ikea is actually one of my favourite places for food! Growing up (in Canada), we would sometimes come for breakfast and the food was always delicious. I love their Swedish meatballs and their soft serve ice cream which are the two staples I always get when I go (not very frequently). This time, we were at Ikea for dinner and we got a salad, boiled vegetables, mac and cheese, Swedish meatballs, and chocolate torte all for a very very reasonable price. There are plenty of spaces to sit so that is never a problem here. The price is more than affordable and I would recommend for everyone to try at least once! Offering everything your life needs: Daycare for all the baby mama shoppers Lockers for safekeeping Groceries Full restaurant Kitchen décor Dining ensembles Bathroom necessities Children's rooms Closest assortments Living Room furniture Bedroom furnishings Accessories such as rugs, lamps, dishes, flatware, mirrors, storage consoles, appliances, throws, accent pillows, lighting, knobs, cooking utensils, glassware, desk, house slippers, luggage, teddy bears and so much more I'm just fresh out of typing energy. Plenty of lot parking with easy signage to navigate you through the complex. There's also a parking garage so you don't get wet on rainy days (we all know sugar melts). Customer service reps are readily available throughout the entire store to answer any questions (I noticed you don't even have to ask for assistance) if you stand still and look slightly puzzles an IKEA rep comes to you and ask if you need help.
