a cup of yogurt and a slice of pizza
    Elyssa D.

Their frozen yogurt (vanilla) is probably the best I've ever had. Something about it is so simple yet so delicious. No toppings needed/wanted it's just perfect. Their pizza is never anything to rave about, it's pretty bland but gets the job done lol. This time, unfortunately, it was a bit raw in some places. I just ate around it, it wasn't too large of a spot but it definitely could've been cooked a bit longer. The meatball sundae has mashed potatoes, Swedish meatballs, and lingonberry sauce all in a convenient cup. Eve try other time I've had the meatball place from IKEA it's delicious, the perfect combo of flavors. This time though, the meatballs were pretty dry and a bit hard. The mashed potatoes, gravy, and lingonberry sauce was the same ol' goodness! I would've loved a dollop more lingonberry though. All in all, this wasn't a very good day for ikea's cafeteria BUT I'll still be back. Again and again.

This is a hit or miss experience. Sometimes they have the food you want, but other times they can't even offer you the essentials (mashed potatoes). Come on! The drink machine has been out on two separate visits (both far apart from each other). This is a bummer when you wanted to get some tasty juice to quench your summer thirsts. We love our meatballs, but this restaurant is not a top tier IKEA restaurant.

The meatball plate in all its glory!

To shamelessly steal a line from another reviewer, "Buy a mattress, eat some balls, life is grand!" I couldn't put it any better. IKEA's cafeteria food is a fun and brilliant addition to the furniture store, and it's actually pretty darned good. While I've never really warmed to their gravlax, the salads, or the seasonal specials like pulled pork, the meatballs can't be beat. IKEA's food is surprisingly delicate and nicely textured - it's not like the larger, robust Italian meatballs. The gravy is lightly flavored and pleasant, the mashed potatoes are fine, and the veggies are *properly* done. They still have a little 'crunch' to them, which is correct - steaming or boiling them to extreme tenderness turns them to mush. Of special note is their lingonberry sauce and drink. The sauce is reminiscent of cranberries, which makes a lot of us think of the holidays, but it's a nice splash of color and sweetness against the meaty flavor of the meatballs. And I'm a fan of the lingonberry soda! It reminds me of a Cranberry Ginger Ale, which is an all-to-rare drink. Well worth a stop in if you're in the market for self-assembled furniture! This place scores a 4 out of 5 on the 'CTJ Scale', as noted below. 5 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Jesus good. Would be OK passing away after finishing a plate here. 4 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Mary good. Would be OK being seen eating here by Mother Mary. 3 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Joseph good. Would be OK having a beer here with Jesus' Dad. 2 out of 5 stars: Come-to-the-Apostles good. Meh. Wouldn't have my last supper here. 1 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Nobody good. I wouldn't have my penultimate supper here, either.

Vegetarian Spread at the IKEA food court

While spending time for furniture looking through the sprawling IKEA store in Round Rock, we decided to check out the menu for vegetarian menu. They had 3 options - Veggie Balls, Veggie Burger (kids menu) and open faced veggie wrap. We ordered the below for 2 of us (adult) Veggie Balls - they were great, served with rice(asked for potato salad instead) and green beans. For those who know Indian food, it the veggie Balls curry was very similar to Kofta curry. Yum! Veggie Burger - Very standard; served with fries and beans (asked to substitute with fries instead). Open Faced Veggie Wrap- Freshly prepared in front of us with fresh cheese, green and tomatoes. Loved the freshness. They were running out of it when we asked for it, they were sweet to prepare it for us. We also got the soda and prepackaged Ginger smoothie. Desserts - We also added 2 yummy coconut chocolate based desserts. Loved it. Perfect finish to the meal. Service - it's a standard buffet, self serve service. The people were very friendly. It's a little noisy since it's not your sit sown restaurant; more cafeteria style. One star off since the could add some more vegetarian options. Recommended!

Chicken and mashed potato meal ($7). Chicken was totally dry. Waste of money and not filling.
    Derek Y.

I'd heard excellent things about IKEA's food court for years so I was particularly let down when I tried the chicken with mashed potatoes meal ($7). Not only did the meal look like the cheapest off brand dollar store version of the photo (which was beautiful), the chicken was also startlingly dry. Like, you almost have to try to over cook chicken to that degree. It was a sad, sad meal. The mashed potatoes were also lukewarm at best and the gravy was cool (not '80s cool, but temperature cool), so that was icing on the cake. Save your money and eat at a real restaurant.

    Swedish meatballs (~$5.99)
    Hong L.

If you come to Ikea, you eat at the food court. Ikea is famous for its Swedish meatballs and that's exactly what I always come to get here. The Swedish meatballs comes with lingonberry sauce, steam vegetables, and mash potatoes and gravy. Everything taste great except for the steam vegetables, it's bland every time without any seasoning or taste. Extra meatballs is $1. They also sell frozen packages of them to make at home. I don't really get any other of the food offerings but they do have salmon, salads, desserts, and other hot food items. To me, the salmon dishes don't really look very fresh so you may want to skip on those. Dessert options include: chocolate cake, cheesecake, and apple pie. Drinks include fountain drinks, coffee, tea, chocolate milk, and some Sweden specialty drinks. Overall, good, cheap food for lunch. Get the meatballs for the best option. Nothing too stellar but fills the hunger. Dining area is pretty spacious, generally pretty clean. They also have a smaller food court downstairs that has hotdogs, cinnamon rolls, ice cream etc.

    Vegetarian sausage...ONLY?!?

I love IKEA, but they haven't been making it easy lately! Since being closed for "renovations" for several months the drink station has had something out of service almost every time I go (which is regularly). Prices have recently gone up. Lingonberry seems to be getting replaced by strawberry (What's that about? This is IKEA for heavens sake!) And today...vegetarian sausage...only?!?

    Swedish Meatballs Meal
    Taylor Z.

Really solid meal! Honestly not a bad place to grab a bite to eat. The Swedish meatballs are pretty dope and the vegetables/mashed potatoes that it comes with are decent. I always get the meatballs because they are so consistent but I've tasted their other options and everything seems decent. I would recommend grabbing the garlic bread! It's pretty crunchy buttery dope. It was around Christmas time when I came, so they had cranberries as well. Which were decently tart and sweet. Nothing like your mom could make them, but pretty decent for such a cheap meal. It's honestly a great place to have a cheap lunch if you are shopping at IKEA. They also have some themed meals around holiday times.

    Sanjana P.

A must try, especially if you are going for shopping at IKEA. Taste: 5/5 Quality: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Healthy: 5/5 Price: 5/5 I would give more if it is possible. Bottom line: You can finish a healthy and tasty meal in less than 5 dollars. Need I say more?

Swedish meatballs with steamed veggies and mashed taters with gravy, bland but good
    Tim C.

Finally got around to trying the Ikea restaurant and it was actually pretty good, we shared as usual with me getting the lion's share . Priced very reasonably and tasted bland but good. The stuffed chicken breast was good and the Swedish meatballs were good too. Both plates came with mashed taters and veggies. If you have a IKEA membership, coffee and hot tea are free at anytime...you don't need to buy anything according to the lady that checked us out in the restaurant...we promptly grabbed some pretty good jo......next visit i'll try the snack bar offering of two hotdogs and a drink for 2 dollars.

It is a unifying meal of blue-collared and white-collared people alike. It is a food that unifies the vast cultures of the south. There is no debate when there is a Chicken Fried Steak. Soul food and southern food are so severely important to people who were raised in the south because the overall feeling of those cuisines is that it feels like their Grandma is cooking dinner. Now if you look at my Yelp profile picture for a fraction of a second and maybe stereotype a little, you can accurately assume that my Grandma's cooking would fit in the latter and you would maybe wonder if my grandmother knows what seasoning is. If you have had her chili, you would say no. The famous Texan Cafe & Pie Shop in Hutto is a classic Southern diner that is always a perfect pick-me-up meal and is a truest staple of the area. When I first visited Hutto before moving I looked for places to try, and the abundant and sheer quantity of reviews for Texan Cafe made it clear that I had to try it. That was just over a year ago, and I still remember parking my car in the lot across the street and walking into the cozy diner with wood chairs and booths, red tablecloths, and so much decor on the walls it might be a museum, and I felt right about moving to Hutto. I was seated immediately and almost instantly ordered the Chicken Fried Steak smothered with white gravy, of course, with sides of Fried Okra and Mashed Potatoes. It was not long before the beautiful plate hit my table, and I destroyed everything on that plate. When I thought it was over, I was handed the dessert menu that was two full rows worth of pie and other options. I was mesmerized by the length of it and was overwhelmed by the options. I texted my parents to tell them and suddenly I was going back to San Antonio with slices on slices worth of pie for them to have. When my parents came up to help move me in, they wanted to go to the Texan. They were impressed with how great the meal was alongside the pies. Pies that they bought extra of to take back with them to San Antonio. When I started my job, the first meal they took us new hires to was the Texan. I tried their Blue Plate Special and found out that Chicken Fried Pork Chops exist and fell in love with that. When my brother came and visited meeting my parents and me in Hutto, we went to the Texan. We enjoyed their appetizers and everyone had to have a slice of pie. Options for everyone. When a friend came and visited, she took a solo trip to the Texan while I was at work then told me she took the best nap of her life after. My buddy and I decided to go randomly one day after work to try their Hot Pie with Brandy Sauce. That thing is a tank and is worth a visit to try alone. What a sweet creation. When my girlfriend visited me in Hutto, I took her to the Texan and she will randomly text me about how much she misses the pie. I try to get her a slice every time she comes and visits. It is her favorite thing. It is clear to see why it is a favorite to so many because everyone I have taken to the Texan has left a fan wanting to come back. I brought my grandparents home a full Blueberry pie from the Texan Cafe which my grandma told me "was the best I have even since I was a little girl. Not too sweet with a great crust. Just right. A blueberry pie is my favorite." I know this review is less of a review and more of a collection of vignettes of many stories built inside the walls of the Texan Cafe, but that is what is so beautiful about southern hospitality and southern diners. That is why there is so much decor about the extensive history of Texan Cafe and the culture of Hutto on the walls. I went back this afternoon for the first time in a short while, but I find myself continuously impressed by the quality of the food, the efficiency as a whole, and just how welcoming everyone is inside. Their pies are just truly next level. Today, I went for the Chicken Fried Pork Chop Blue Plate Special which is truly heaven sent, potato salad, fried okra, and a slice of their cherry pie. It is a meal you feel blessed to eat and a restaurant you love supporting because of it. Every pie I have had at the Texan is better than any other pie I have eaten. They could be a full time bakery and still be the monument of Hutto. It just happens they have food that warms your heart too. RIYL: Grandma's cooking if it was not dry

Parking is plentiful right in front of the restaurant. We came by on a Saturday around 1 PM, worried it might be packed, but it was actually pretty quiet. You can sit anywhere you like, grab a plate, and pay when you're done. The space is large and open, with three full rows of food and drinks plus a dedicated station for fruit and desserts. Everything was fresh, not overly salty, and there were plenty of options. My favorites were the hummus with eggplant (so flavorful with great texture), the salad and cucumber salad (fresh and refreshing), the dolma (perfectly done), gyro (tender and tasty), baked cauliflower (so good), fried chicken (juicy, crispy, and not salty), falafel (extra crunchy), and the lentil soup (simple but delicious). And don't miss their coffee at the checkout--it has a hint of warm spice and is the perfect finish after a meal. Surprisingly, I ended up loving the vegetable dishes even more than the meats. Overall, yes, $26 per person is on the higher side (what doesn't cost these days, right?!), but it's a great spot to try a variety of Mediterranean dishes that are fresh, simply seasoned, and let the ingredients shine--perfect whether you're new to the cuisine or just want a bit of everything.

My taco wasn't worth more than $5, tbh, and we paid close to $9..given it was shrimp, but we've had much better shrimp tacos elsewhere for less. I wish I had a photo of my poor taco, but I totally forgot to take a picture :/

At first, my intentions were to share with husband but he wanted his own and enjoyed every bite. It was very crisp and cooked to perfection however the oil could have drained a little longer but still good. We also started with the goat cheese fondue that was delicious but not much of a portion for sharing but with a generous amount of sourdough that accompanied the dip. I had a birthday slice of sticky toffee pudding for my birthday that I've had a few times in the past. In my opinion, it has not been as good as the very first time. Not as moist. Overall, we'd probably return to try other menu options.
