There are so many cool things to look at and get ideas from when it comes to home improvement and decorating. I wish more things were organized better. I have been to other locations with better planning as far as products adjacent to the displays. Finally had the infamous meatballs and did not get the hype. It's all very basic. All that said, IKEA is a fun place to unearth affordable items one did not know one needed!

Some of their home textiles lately have been really good. I bought a duvet which I love, 100% cotton, washed & dried perfectly. So then I bought a queen sheet set for $29.00 which was also really nice, which prompted me to buy another set of sheets as well as a really nicely made bedspread. Also over a certain amount and you can get free shipping to your home.

    'Cause they're battery-powered.

The Missus and I have visited occasionally since this store opened. Contemporary Scandinavian furniture is not our thing, but we do enjoy meandering through the maze, especially to smirk at the subtle tongue-in-cheek humor found at every turn (see the accompanying photos). We always start out by insisting, "We don't need anything!" but inevitably depart with tummies full of Swedish meatballs and a cart filled with kitchen gadgets and offbeat doohickeys. Through the years, I've assembled a few of their storage and shelving units. I'm reasonably handy, but for those who prefer, IKEA offers an assembly service and also a home handyman service called "Taskrabbit." We're less enamored with their self-service business model, but on the occasions when we've needed assistance, we've found store personnel to be friendly and knowledgeable. Nearly all of the cashier lanes have been converted to self-checkout, which can be cumbersome for those who purchase multiple large items. The return process is clunky; you need to fill out a form on a touchscreen in order to be assigned a place in line. And the wait can be long.

IKEA Schaumburg has been here for over 20 years but still maintains itself as a very popular store. The 3 floored store offers a vast variety of items from lawn & garden, kitchen housewares, furniture, lighting, bedding, imported grocery items (cheese, jams, fish) etc... They do offer custom cabinetry and countertops as well. They also boast a traditional cafeteria where they are known for their Swedish meatballs and fresh baked cinnamon rolls! It's right off the expressway and easily accessible.

I love IKEA! We strolled around, starting on the 3rd floor and working our way down. We really came to IKEA to eat Ha Ha! The veggie(vegan) hot dog is so good! And the plant(vegan) balls. I'm not a fan of the new plant-based strawberry soft serve; more like a sorbet.

Where are the wooden leg options?

Ikea was my go to for inexpensive yet stylish decor and furniture, great for clients in a tight budget. The showroom used be be expansive, with interesting vignettes and a huge selection. So WHAT HAPPENED?!?! I was there this week and much is that is gone. The kitchen department seems much smaller and harder to navigate. The office dept is tiny! And what happened to the simple wooden desks that were utilitarian yet chic? None to be found, just tubular metal legs and confusing signage. And an employee who spent the entire time in his computer for the entire 15 mins I was there. Never once asked any one of the 10+ guests if they needed help. The only thing that saved them was their meatball lunch, still delicious and with lovely staff. I left with some 93 cent Easter chocolates and some elderflower preserves. Please fix this Ikea! I've been a regular shopper since you opened 20 years ago, and this is not a celebration of your store.

First impression: It's huge. The biggest Ikea I've been in, though I've only been in a handful of them. It was also crowded. There were no shopping carts to be found on the first two floors, only those irritating plastic shopping baskets on wheels. I don't like them. We finally found some carts on the third floor. Prices at Ikea are always hit or miss. You can find some incredible deals if you are patient and know what you're looking for. I wasn't too impressed with the staff at this location, most seemed a bit cold. The lines were long at the restaurant and I felt claustrophobic the way everyone was crowded around the ordering kiosks. I ordered a bottle of water and had to go hunting for it. It was a confusing set up. The meatballs were pretty good though, as expected. I suppose it was partially our fault, choosing to go shopping on a Sunday. If we have to return it will be on a weekday when it's less crowded and the staff isn't as rushed.

Went on a Saturday morning and it was not very busy at all. This location is quite large and the restaurant is updated with kiosks and new decor. IKEA provides stylish furniture at an affordable price. It may not last forever but the look and function make it great value. The only negative is the instructions are pictures only which can get frustrating. The nice thing is that if you are missing any pieces you can go to the service and get any replacements. It is a bit difficult to find ikea employees on the floor and the fact you have to walk thru the whole section is inconvenient. Swedish meatballs and cinnamon rolls are a must.

My teenage son spent hours building a Brimnes two drawer TV stand and was so proud and happy to finish it...only to find that it is defective, with the drawers not closing evenly. Like not even close. Looking online, this is a common problem. We are both so pissed off that for over a hundred dollars and so much time spent, that this is a piece of shit. I will be returning to this monolith of cheap crap tomorrow and buyer beware at Ikea.

A nice way to burn off some calories. Of course, we put the calories on with their breakfast first...the Swedish pancakes are a real treat.

    Ask the Community - IKEA

Anyone have difficulties with cancelling an order online? I've tried calling, and no response. They just say the have high call volumes and hang up.

Yes. I'm in an IKEA fan-group on Facebook: Everyone is having a great deal of difficulty getting through to an actual human being.

    Phone number for Schaumburg store?

The website lists it as: (888) 888-4532. You will be routed to the call center and wait forever. It is very hard to speak to someone directly at the store. I know from experience. Good luck!

The only thing I will not buy from IKEA is sheets, that is something you have to spend real money on and can't get for cheap.

I love Marshall's and TJ Maxx and At Home tends to run a little cheaper but the quality is still great. My favorite part is their candle aisle! "At Home" was advertised on Pandora radio during summer. As a homeowner, I wanted to see what this…read moresuperstore was about yet didn't have a chance to do so. Well, I should say I wasn't really eager to travel to a brick-and-mortar store since online shopping for home is more convenient, and often times, cheaper without having to leave the comfort of my own residence. The first impression I had was how similar it was to "HomeGoods," except it was a larger space. There were Christmas trees and decorations near the entrance, three (3) aisles of chairs I saw next, and planters, gardening essentials, poufs and ottomans against the walls. I then spotted some sofas, loveseats, and outdoor furniture toward the back of venue. I then walked through the rug and carpet department. It was quite disorganized. Items were picked over and placed on the floor instead of getting put back on the shelves. Well, this phenomenon was often seen in many retail stores post-holidays or on the weekends. I wasn't shocked, but I knew perhaps the associates and managers there could do a better job on maintaining the best visual. In addition, I noticed some items were damaged or having minor defects. Hubby and I were looking for a planning board with the days of week that we could write on daily activities or meal-prep-related messages. The one we originally wanted to purchase had a broken hook. Fortunately, we spotted another style on the other side. With that being said, conduct detailed quality check before you commit on buying anything at the store. Many tables already had scratches, dents, or uneven legs. I guess we would meet these damaged goods pretty soon at Marshall's, TJ Maxx, or HomeGoods with deeper discounts? No se, pero "we shall see!" The trip to "At Home" wasn't exactly a waste, even though I did have to admit the prices weren't exactly the lowest one could find. This is the year of 2018. E-commerce is now the sh*t. Therefore, I would certainly encourage you all to do more web browsing before cruising on the road.

We ordered a couch and selected a delivery date based on the delivery options the company provided. We planned around it, expecting a normal delivery of brand-new furniture. Instead, we've dealt with repeated damage, failed deliveries and no clear point of contact. And when you try to get help, there's effectively no human support to resolve the problem. Here's what happened from start to finish: Delivery attempt No. 1: No warning, then "it's damaged" On the scheduled delivery day, we received no advance notice of any issues. The delivery team arrived and told us the couch had been damaged at the warehouse and would not be delivered. The drivers even said we should have been notified ahead of time, but we weren't. They proceeded with the rest of the order, but once the truck was opened it was clear additional pieces were damaged, too -- specifically the coffee table and side tables. The drivers refused to deliver them because the damage was obvious. So after waiting for delivery, we ended the day with no couch and damaged items that could not be delivered. Delivery attempt No. 2: Couch arrives -- but defective and incorrectly assembled We waited for a second attempt. This time the couch did arrive, but it was in unacceptable condition for a new purchase. It had: * a rip/tear * improper assembly * a bend in the center * a bottom riser dragging * the wrong legs We were not comfortable sitting on it. We were also pushed toward "repair" as a solution, which is not reasonable for a brand-new couch that arrived defective and incorrectly assembled. Delivery attempt No. 3: The "replacement" is broken on the truck This attempt was supposed to be the fix: exchange the broken couch for a new, non-broken couch. Instead, the delivery team told us the replacement couch had a bent footrest while still on the truck. They said they tried to repair it, but it still wasn't functioning properly. After three delivery attempts, we were once again left without a working couch. Over a month later: still no resolution It has now been more than a month and we still do not have a functioning couch or a clear resolution. Communication has been slow and inconsistent, we've been bounced between people, and there is no single person taking ownership of the issue through completion. Bottom line We paid for new furniture. We've received damaged items, defective assembly, and a replacement that was broken before it even came off the truck -- plus no reliable way to speak to someone who can fix it. We do not recommend this company. If you're thinking about ordering, be warned: if something goes wrong, you may be stuck for weeks with no clear path to a resolution.
