I was in the downtown area so decided to grab sandwiches for lunch. I heard so much about this place or this chain so I decided to try it out. I love me a good club sandwich. I did like the turkey and the bacon however I'm not so sure about the alfalfa sprouts. The bread that it came on was a 12 grain darker type of bread which normally I would not have chosen. Overall, it tasted fresh, but I'm not sure of it was worth $16. It did come with a small cookie. They also got a gourmet grilled cheese and that was pretty decent for nine dollars. Baggins Been to several of their locations. First time to this one. No complaints. Pretty fast. Staff was friendly. Good place to pop in if you want a soup or salad or sandwich. I love the bread bowl options. And their chocolate chip cookies are good. Multiple different desserts like lemon cake, carrot cake. Sides like coleslaw, pasta salad, chicken bowtie pasta, etc. I usually go with the club sandwich. Baggins never disappoints. I've actually never been to this location but it was just as yummy as the others. I tried a bread bowl salad for the first time and I can't believe I've never had one. The bread is out of this world good. I got the Asian chicken salad and it has the Chinese salad on top which is my other favorite item on the menu. I got the peanut dressing and it was so good! I love Baggin's. But with that being said..... I was pretty disappointed with this location. Took 15mins to make my cold sandwich and there was only one person in line ahead of me and maybe a total of 10 people in the entire place. The guy making the sandwich was moving slower than a sloth. All the staff were friendly. Cons- no med size lids - dr.pepper tasted like the lines had not been cleaned in a long time.... Prices seem like they have increased a lot. read more

This is my favorite sandwich shop. Been going there over a decade. Good, fresh sandwiches at a reasonable price. Just be aware that on Tuesday, the lunch line will go out the door. I just stopped in Baggin's to grab a quick PB and J since I didn't have time for lunch and at 2:00 I didn't want to have a full meal. The PB and J was fine - you really can't mess that up. But it was $4.86 out the door, no chips, no side, no drink. There was a nice sandwich advertised on the message board with ham and pineapple and other trimmings, with a drink and chips for $7 - so I don't get how just a PB and J can be priced at $4.50. All of that and a bag of chips... Okay, I'm not sure why I wrote that introduction. Well, I suppose I can segue into one illuminating story at this downtown Baggin's. I ordered the Unforgettable Baggin's, a sandwich composed of turkey, bacon, cream cheese, tomato, avocado, and alfalfa sprouts. I also got a drink with that. I handed my debit card to the cashier chick, she swiped it, and just after that moment, I realized that I wanted some chips, too. I quickly try to stop her and ask if I could add a chips to my order. Here's the cool part: she pauses, looks at me blankly and expresses to me that she already ran my card. I then reciprocate in kind by pausing, looking at her blankly and taking my card, which was being extended to me. I'm no master at reading body language, but I'm astute enough to see that this person was in no mood to run my debit card once more to add an order of chips. No "Sure, let me run your card again" or "okay, would you like to pay for that with this card as well?" Nothing but a pause and blankness. Oh, there was silence for a couple of awkward seconds. Granted, this occurred right at the peak of lunch hour as many business and legal types from the downtown area were streaming in, so it was pretty busy. But there were only a couple of people behind me, and there was another cashier manning his station. Needless to say, I just ate my Unforgettable. Speaking of which, the sandwich was prepared well and the ingredients were fresh. Baggin's does deserve some credit for being creative with their sandwiches. While good, however, it was nothing memorable. So while the food at Baggin's is just merely good enough to be forgettable a day later, the service certainly is unforgettable. No offense to anyone who is employed downtown in the finance or legal fields, but perhaps my cashier's eagerness to please is due to having to deal with douche-bag bankers and lawyers all day long. I would go back again some time and offer another opportunity to Baggin's to redeem itself, but I thankfully am no longer serving on jury duty. read more

Well, Hello Baggins - where have you been? Hiding around the corner from my office. I rarely head anywhere but Congress Street for lunch but today, for some reason, I headed in the direction of Baggins. In the back of my mind, I knew they were there but never remembered when it was lunch time. I got there after the lunch crowd and had a chance to study the menu board. Good selection and good variety of sandwiches and other goodies. I picked the Baggins Club - very good sandwich, stuffed with all sorts of goodness. (You can never go wrong with bacon.) It was the perfect size to get me through the rest of the day. The service was spot on, too. Efficient and concise - no mumbling from the employee (which is huge pet peeve of mine). The wait wasn't long at all - I had enough time to get my drink and start to peruse the paper. Since it was my first time there, I was completely surprised by the cookie I found in my bag! This review is from a few years back when I had Baggins on speed dial. Me and my co-worker called them like 3 times a week for our lunches. We worked at a busy place and Baggins delivered, and that was just fine by us. I ordered the egg salad a lot, which I think was called a Tall or High Baggins or something. It had little bits of meat in it as I recall. I had a Baggins again a few months ago here and it never ceases to impress me. The sandwich tastes fresh, love the sprouts and everything they pack into their. Fresh delicious bread. But the killer is the spicy iced tea. O.M.G. that tea is to kill for! It's an addiction. I like going into Baggins to get refills on it. It's so unusual and I've never found anything like it anywhere. I love that they included a cookie with each sandwich. Nice little touch. Delivery was usually pretty good and worthy of a tip. I don't think Baggins the best sandwich in town but it's familiar and good and the ingredients are fresh and delicious. read more

I love Baggins. Love it. The High Baggins has been so good to me that sometimes, late at night, I cry myself to sleep thinking about the last bite. Saying goodbye to that sandwich is so painful sometimes I think it would be best if we never met. Then I have to remind myself that my sandwich wouldn't have wanted it this way. It wouldn't have wanted me to romanticize its life...it would want me to remember it as a complete sandwich, with ups and downs like any other. It would want me to carry on. So I have to remember the delivery service from this location is terrible. Time and again its embarrassed me at work, orders arriving wrong or incomplete. And the lateness? I'm not high maintenance, like some other men. It's not that your delivery time is already outrageous at 50-60 minutes when you're only a few miles away. It's that you're constantly later than that. 10 minutes, 75 minutes...if you even show up at all. So go, Baggins on Stone...get out my house, and out my life, and don't come back. I come to this Baggins location at least once every two weeks. I work down the road and the location is a nice 5-10 minute walk from my office. Although the lunch crowd can make a line out the door each weekday, I still love it and always see about 5 others from my office, so it's an easy sell to get a walking partner. I have tried many things on the menu, but my go to favorite is the Unforgettable Baggins Sandwich. I get the wholesome half which includes 1 side and a fountain drink with your half sandwich. The whole sandwich is huge, so this $7 deal is awesome for a quick grab and go lunch. I enjoy the sesame pasta salad with it. You can also switch things up like adding cranberries or green chiles for another 45 cents. Many of their normal toppings can be added for free as well. I suggest that if you go there between 12-1 pm on a weekday, you should call or order online ahead of time. I like ordering online because you don't feel so rushed as when you call on the phone. You can also see all of the extra toppings you can get, which is nice if you're in the mood for experimenting. I just went there about an hour ago, I ordered online and double-checked my no-avocado unforgettable (I'm allergic, *tear*) and it did have it on there. I brought it to the manager and she personally made me a new sandwich and gave me an extra cookie too for the inconvenience. The manager can seem disgruntled during lunch time but I've been there enough that I know she is doing a great job and really keeps her employees in line to make things right and correct any mistakes. About 2 months ago I ordered a sandwich and a side of coleslaw for lunch while at work. It took about 45 minutes for delivery, less than a mile away, no big deal. I absolutely can not stand toasted. I specifically told them not toasted, and no middle slice of bread. When my order arrived the coleslaw was missing, the middle piece of bread was in it, not big deal I can take that out. The big deal was it was toasted. I called, and they offered to give me a free sandwich on a future order. Today I placed my order at 12:08. I called at 1:07 to find out where my lunch was. The lady told me it was made and sitting there. What the hell you leave a sandwich sitting there for an hour? Apparently they only have two drivers on today. The service is always fast (but you can find a long line at lunch time, because there is a sea of people that goes out to lunch downtown) and courteous. The Hopi Chicken is a favorite of mine and the Cheese steak is awesome (order both peppers). The salad gets a "decent" ratting because it is expensive for the amount of salad.
