I crave Ike's sandwiches every day. It can be hard to find good, quick vegan food in Davis. This is my new go-to place. I'm working my way down the veggie portion of the menu and have also tried sandwiches that I've found on menus online. Love! Love! Love! *** I've decided to downgrade my review because I recently discovered that Ike's elsewhere has vegan cheese and more vegan options. Davis Ike's does not have the same vegan options. Also, Ike's has changed the Davis menu and pricing, but failed to change the kid's and sides. So, you end up feeling over charged and ripped off. If they were honest with the posted menu prices, it would be different. Also, the kid's options are under cooked, esp the vegan chicken. Today, they got excited, and then spit it out because it's so undercooked. That's a shame given that the story of this place goes back to when the founder was a child and his mom made great sandwiches, including falafel for him. It would be great if some of those sandwiches were featured. My kids love falafel. I wish Ike's offered the same sort of sandwiches that inspired this place. read more

I tried Ike's for the first time a few weeks ago on a nice little personal picnic I had. I ordered the "Giancarlo My Son" on their signature Dutch Crunch (yes all the name's of the menu items are just as fun), and it was absolutely fantastic! The cucumber was the only thing I wasn't sold on but every other part of the sandwich was perfect. I especially enjoyed the avocado. And it ended up being way more food than I thought - I had to save half of it for later (it reheats beautifully in a toaster oven, fyi). I would definitely stop by Ike's Love and Sandwiches again the next time the weather is nice enough and the ground is dry enough for another personal picnic. I usually like Ike's, and have been to many locations in the bay area. But my most recent visit to the Davis location was disappointing. We ordered a couple sandwiches, mine was a Ted Robinson (pastrami and provolone) with added grilled mushrooms and onion rings. The sandwich was tasty as usual. But the reason for my rating is 1) we waited 15-20 minutes for our order, which is the longest I've ever waited for sandwiches, and they didn't seem unusually busy, and 2) they forgot to add the onion rings. Other than that, the place was clean and inviting, plenty of indoor seating, and satisfactory customer service. read more

I got the Matt Cain since it seemed to be the popular option, and it definitely tasted good, but my problem was the portion of meat I was given. The roast beef in the photo I posted was all I got on both sides of the sandwich. That was it! The other side only had one piece of pepperoni and none of the turkey. So, essentially, I paid $14 for one wad of turkey, three total pieces of salami, and a couple of scraps of beef between bread (plus veggies). Definitely disappointing. read more

This Davis location is great. Quality and service are always consistent. There's a big menu right outside so it's super convenient to look through and figure out what you want before heading in to order. And if you forget what you want in those 25 steps between the door and the register, there's another huge menu inside. There's something for everyone on the menu - meats, veggies, and special location-specific sandwiches. The Dutch crunch and dirty sauce keep me coming back. I usually stick with the Top Gun (halal chicken, BBQ sauce, and cheddar) but with so many good choices, it's hard to go wrong here! read more

I love Ike's so much that I had to get it in my college town too. I took one of my college besties to try it with me, and it was her first time! Same as other Ike's, you order at the cashier, give them your name, and they call out your name when your order is ready. We went when there weren't a lot of people, so we got our food pretty quickly. Also, love how when we went and checked in on Yelp, we got a free bag of chips! It was my first time trying those chips, and they were so good! Love the free caramel apple lollipop as well. I reviewed the Madison Bumgarner already at another location, so I won't be including it in this review. I wanted to try something new today, so alongside the Madison Bumgarner, I got the Menage A Trois. All the Yelp reviews on here were raving about it, so I just had to get it! Also, as always, we got these sandwiches on Dutch Crunch bread (once you go to dutch crunch, there's never going back...) Menage A Trois - 5/5 So yummy! I am so glad that I listened to the reviews on here because it has become a new favorite of mine (adding to my list of go-tos). The sauce is slightly sweet and coats all the chicken pieces very nicely. I LOVE the sauce! The chicken is not overcooked at all - simply delicious. The Dutch Crunch bread here was less hard than the other location I visited, which I personally really liked. It was still crunchy though but not super hard crunchy (I like it like this a lot more). Overall, I love Ike's so much. One thing that I think is so cool about each Ike's location is that I believe that each location?? has their own speciality sandwiches.
