The ingredients tasted so incredibly fresh and cohesive! I was surprised by how tasty and filling the sandwich was, as I ended up taking home leftovers -- despite my appetite. Let me first say, how much I loved their customer service here. It felt like a local spot where the baristas made conversations that are not quick "how's your day going." As for the food? My husband and I made a mistake of order 2 brie and fig sandwiches (bacon & turkey) thinking we could finish it in one sitting! It was so delicious and so so filling. The fig was a bit sweet but I would still go back for this. We wanted to see which one we prefer by taking half and I definitely recommend the turkey one. This place does not have any wifi and since this is in Davis I felt that it was perfect since college life is a go go go. This place felt like it's where you slow down time and be in the moment. Probably one of the best breakfast items I've had in Davis and it's the reason I come back to this cafe. I walk in, immediately theres no room for me to stand. I see fake greenery, an overhead menu with very little and of that little hardly anything enticing, and a nearly empty pastry case. But oh in that pastry case do I spot something that couldn't let me leave just then and there: cocoa powdered marscapone filled sliced beautifully layered Tiramisu pan. Trudge my way into this mid cafe dodging all of the uneccesary decor and fake seating that makes it impossible to find where the line to order begins or ends. My bottom is right beside some poor girls table and cold panini for an excruciating amount of time. Where are we meant to stand? Where are they meant to sit? No good answer for the either of us. I reach the counter I say Tiramisu that's it thank you so much I'll pay with card? 8 DOLLARS Ok whatever I pay I move I wait with my bottom by some other poor man's face and subsequent panini. Waiting for maybe 10 minutes? Guys !!!! It's right there !!!! just hand me a slice and I'm out of here. Anyway. My buzzer (Why did I have that also ) Buzzes and I am handed a large af brown takeout box. Jostle my way out of there with the box and open up to find a ridiculously small slice, kind of moshed around and a little ruined by the turbulence (something a smaller container would have mitigated...) and a tirimisu covered spoon. Whatever. With that aforementioned wooden spoon covered in tiramisu and now my hands covered in tiramisu I scrape the sides of that egregiously spacious box for a bite and Ohhh all I taste is that wood spoon and MID tiramisu. I take it he didn't like that i walked in with my umbrella, which was hardly even wet, def wouldn't drip. He was nicer to most of the people who came in after me. I got the valley veggie panini, vegan option (for the cheese). If the food were good, it would have at least helped redeem my visit but the panini was fairly tasteless. Wow! The worst experience my family and I had today. Our first and also our last with this place. I thought it was a good place to bring my family for brunch, but we left with a nasty experience thanks to the owner(older Asian dude) treating his own kind badly. I witnessed the owner himself bringing menu, drinks and food for other tables, but we had to wait our own table from the beginning to the end. He was mostly pleasant with other customers and never even smiled at us even though we were his customers too. When we were done, the waitress came and asked if she could take our dishes for us, but then as we were we all leaving, the damn owner himself stopped my daughter and told her to clean the rest of the table . I was shocked that the owner was asking my girl to pickup after herself when he didn't ask other customers to pickup after themselves. Not to mention, after we ordered our food, I overheard the Asian man ask the waitress who took our order "No drinks?" If you only want customers to order drinks, make your menu consist only of drinks. The food was definitely not worth this experience and I would not recommend coming here. read more

The food was okay. What wasn't okay was the way my family and I were treated the second we walked into this restaurant. We were offered menus and chose to sit at a table while deciding what to order. All the while I noticed who I presume to be the owner, a short Asian man, attentively handing menus to and serving food/drinks to tables around us. He walked by our table numerous times without as much of a glance. When our food was finally ready, we went up to the counter ourselves to get it. Finally as we were getting ready to leave, one of the waitresses came up to our table and took away some of our dishes. After that, I thought they would clean everything else as well, so my family got up to leave. As I was leaving, the Asian man stopped me and told me to bust my own table and that they weren't responsible for that. I tried to tell him the other worker had taken some of our dishes already, but he wouldn't even listen to me. Since it was my first time coming to this restaurant, I'm not sure what the "normal" form of service is, and my issue isn't at all with the idea that I had to clear my own table. My problem is that these policies seem to only apply to certain groups at this establishment. As an Asian, I really hadn't expected this kind of treatment from another Asian. Make your policies clear, treat your customers equally, and stop fostering such a negative environment. Definitely left this experience extremely disappointed since I had been wanting to try this cafe for a while. read more

I visited the cloud forest cafe after leaving a popular brunch place with a 50 minute wait! Not only does cloud forest have a beautiful and comfy aesthetic, the food is bussin! I got the cloud forest panini with a lavender latte + oatmilk. The ciabatta bread tastes homemade, with a delightful crunch when you bite into it! The ingredients were all super fresh and blended well together! I think mine had pesto, arugula, turkey, cheese, and maybe onion! My friend got the veggie panini which came with a ton of yummy looking veggies and it looked just as good as mine imo. I love how the drinks come in huge, handcrafted mugs! Made the whole experience more cozy! Will definitely be back to work on my laptop and enjoy more yummy treats! read more

Like every other comment said the older shorter man that works here is incredibly rude. I never leave reviews but I felt I had to in this situation. My friend and I came here to study but felt unwelcomed since the beginning. We arrived here at 1pm and knew they closed at 3pm but in the last 30 min the man continued to clean around us and left the cleaning spray and towel on our table. With 10 mins left before closing he told us we needed to leave and said rudely we are closed and made a big x with his hands and pointed to the door for us to leave. I told him we still had 10 mins left till closing but he stated they needed to clean. I'm sorry but if you want to leave earlier then close earlier do not kick customers out! I continued to let him know he was being incredibly rude and he proceeded to walk to a back room. I am usually an understanding person but I have never been treated so poorly at a cafe. Also he purposely puts covers on outlets in the "computer zone" so students don't stay long, not sure how he doesn't like catering to students in a college town. I went to Cloud Forest Cafe for lunch today after being super hungry and craving a panini. We got the Cloud Forest Panini, Cache Creek Caliente Panini and a chai latte. The drink was good, and both paninis were pretty good, they were solid but I wouldn't say they were the best I have had. The place is cute with nice decor and table setting. The workers were very nice as well. Also, I like how they provide a side of potato salad with your paninis. Both were good but I preferred the Cache Creek Caliente, but my sister preferred the Cloud Forest. Although I have three cons. First, the bread is quite crispy which can scratch your mouth, so it's your personal preference if you like that. Second, I think the bread was bigger than the filling, so middle would be great but all the edges were just bread, which is not as good. And finally, on one of my last bites of the potato salad, I found a hair in my potato salad. Seeing hairs in food is always a gross sight and definitely ruined my experience a bit. I had to put that aside and try to eat the rest, hoping I hadn't eaten any other hairs I simply didn't catch on. Overall, I think this is a solid place to get food, but wouldn't say it's the best that everyone needs to try. If you do go, just be on the lookout for hairs read more
