Wish I knew about this place sooner! It's tucked under an apartment building so it's easy to miss. It's a small establishment and pretty clean. They have awkward opening and closing times. So before going just make sure they are open. The hostess was very warm and attentive. Their sushi was SO good! There is so much more I have to explore on their menu but their Spider Roll and Firecracker Roll were perfect. No complaints at all. I love a good Spider Roll and this was the best I've had so far. The sushi chef's definitely seemed to know what they were doing! They also wore gloves when making the sushi as well, which is definitely a plus. This is officially my favorite local sushi spot.

I live across the street from Ikko Sushi, which is located in the Bennington apartment building. I decided to try it out. There is a small dining area inside and plenty of outdoor seating. It had steady customers each of the three times I came in. I ordered takeout directly at the counter inside. The service is GREAT and the real reason for my review. Across my three visits, I ordered sashimi, beef udon, shrimp shumai, shoyu ramen, and yakisoba. They also have about twelve alcohol (sake) options to-go and I ordered two different kinds across my three visits. The sake is good. The food just isn't anything to write home about. Everything had a similar flavor across dishes and wasn't all that flavorful. It tasted bland. That being said, the sashimi was fresh and they had a nice variety and big pieces. I think that's where they might shine. I will try the sushi again, but won't order anything off the rest of the menu. I will probably stop in for some sake from time to time.

If you're lucky, you'll get Amber as your waitress; we were fortunate to have her when she was volunteering to help out at Ikko. Amber was attentive and patient and even brought me a new pair of chopsticks three seconds after I dropped my pair. We were sitting outside and I didn't think anyone had noticed but there she came as my savior with a new pair! I ordered the veggie and sweet potato roll and enjoyed both. The sweet potato roll was awesome and came with some added crunch on top. My boyfriend had the crab and sweet potato roll. Our meals also came with free miso soup and a bowl of edamame on the house. Miso soup was soothing! Much to my surprise and satisfaction, we were given two servings of watermelon for dessert since it's "good for my skin." It was the best summer treat ever! I ate two slices and then had no shame in saying I would take two more because it was so sweet and refreshing. I would really give Ikko 4.5 stars but I ordered take out the other day and the two cardboard cartons of miso soup imploded in my bag and there was tofu and seaweed swimming around by the time we got home. I tried to be careful but I think plastic may be a better option for carrying out soup (or maybe I'm just that clumsy).

I am definitely coming back to this place. A hidden gem. The sushi was delicious and our server was friendly. She was very kind and welcoming. The place was cozy but enough space between each table. If you love sushi, definitely try this wonderful place with very friendly servers.

Very convenient spot for take out sushi in silver spring. During COVID, they are only doing take out and delivery, but they have learned how to make this process efficient. I've previously experienced long wait times here but in my opinion their average wait time has significantly decreased. They've got very reasonable prices, my order is always accurate, and staff is friendly. I really like the DC monument roll - a giant sushi tower with lots of fish and sauce. I've also had the rainbow roll a few times and I typically love it although one time I ordered this roll and I could tell by the look and smell of the fish it was not fresh which turned me off a bit. I've eaten here many times and this only happened once so I know it was rare, but it has made me nervous to try again.

Little sushi spot that's kinda tucked away under an apartment building. A bit hard to find only because there aren't other restaurants or shops immediately adjacent to it. There's street parking and a parking lot behind the building (so I was told). I didn't have trouble finding street parking on a Saturday evening though. My friend and I ordered 3 tuna rolls and a firecracker roll. Both were good, nothing extraordinary, but I will say that they give you a good amount of tuna in the tuna rolls. The rolls look small, but that's because unlike other sushi establishments, Ikko doesn't 'fill up space' with more rice in the roll. I appreciate that. I also liked that miso soup came with our rolls, to our surprise. Apparently they give you complimentary soup if you order alcohol. Yay! There was plenty of outdoor seating--definitely a plus when there's nice weather. And of course, indoor seating as well. It's a small place, but with the current volume of customers, I don't think seating would be an issue. The staff are really nice and accommodating as well. I would definitely come back!

I was in disbelief as I places them in my plate. I have purchased these myself from H Mart....

My major contention with this experience is that our waiter, Zoe was inattentive and unprofessional. Our dessert arrived 5 minutes after receiving our dinner. I asked her if they could make our dessert fresh and her response was, how long will it take you to eat? To which I responded I don't know. It was an odd experience because most waiters are attentive enough to know when a table is ready for dessert or they simply ask. As I expected, by the time we received the fried ice cream, the plate looked sloppy and the ice cream on the inside was melted. It clearly was the same plate. Finally, while I was packing my dinner she seemed to recall she never brought me chili paste I had asked for during dinner. No apology or anything. Overall, it was a disappointing experience from a waiter who should be retrained.

None of us were from this area, and we intended to go to the Mayflower Chinese Restaurant, based on Yelp reviews. However, once we walked in the door, it was apparent this place was focused on carryout, and there was no way we were staying to eat in their dingy entrance area. We walked next door to the Meleket Ethiopian restaurant. However, the place was deserted, and we didn't stay there either. We tried the Lime & Cilantro, the next place down, but it was packed and couldn't handle our group. So, we skipped past the verernary clinic and went to Spring Garden. And, what a great choice that was. They offer a huge menu of Chinese, Thai, and Japanese meals. Everything is reasonably priced. Once we got our food, we were impressed with the quality and portion sizes. And, through it all, the service was prompt and friendly. I ordered Hot and Sour soup (my bellwether for Chinese restaurants) and beef chow fun. The soup was flavorful without being overpowering, and the chow fun was delicious too. I liked everything so much that I ordered another soup and Thai Basil with Chicken to go, and that's been my lunch for the past couple of days. Don't be put off by the seediness of its location. Spring Garden is a great place to grab some tasty, reasonably priced food, either to eat in or take away.

There's plenty of parking around the restaurant, plus there's additional parking in the giant shopping center. Sushi Freedom is marketed as an all-you-can-eat (AYCE) place, but you can also order a la carte. The AYCE price is about $33 per person for dinner/weekends ($23 for weekday lunch). They also have lunch specials, but these are only available on weekdays (similar to the buffet pricing, the weekend is all-day dinner). Sashimi is only available at dinner. Even though it's called "Sushi Freedom," they have other Asian cuisine dishes on the menu. I like that the AYCE also includes apps, soups, salads, and some noodle dishes. I did a la carte this time, but I will definitely come back to try out the AYCE. We were greeted and seated right away. Several customers were finishing up their meals. The tables were already set with menus, napkins, and silverware. Once we were seated, our server immediately got our drinks. Service was excellent! He asked if we had any questions about the menu, checked on us, was knowledgeable about the menu and nuances of the sushi rolls and other dishes, and the sushi was brought out in a reasonable amount of time. Our sushi had nice presentation. Each sushi plate even had a pretty flower garnish. For my rolls, I ordered the Twin Tower specialty roll (shrimp tempura and eel, ~$14) and a fresh yellowtail sushi roll (~$7). Shrimp tempura and eel are two of my favorites, so I was pleasantly surprised to see a roll with both. It also came with imitation crab and avocado. I enjoyed the roll but didn't really taste the eel. The yellowtail roll was good, but fish portions were on the small side. I was tempted to order another roll, but at that point, I was pretty satiated and on principle, I might as well have gone ham and done the AYCE (next time). We ended the meal with fortune cookies. Solid sushi and great service overall - I'm optimistic about the AYCE. Sushi Freedom is a welcome addition to the neighborhood and will surely help you get your sushi fix.
