I had to make a stop by Ikrave while stopping through MIA bc Chad "Ochocinco" Johnson always posts some of their dishes on his Instagram page. The pictures of the waffles, oxtails with grits, bacon and eggs, etc. called my name today and since I had two hours to kill, I decided to give in to the temptation of Ikrave. The establishment is colorful on the outside. If you don't pay attention to the "Ikrave" sign on the outside and the Ikrave print on the door you could easily pass by the restaurant. I thought the sign outside blended into the decorative patterns that were displayed on the building, but I was laser focused on finding this place, so I would have driven around the entire neighborhood multiple times if I had to. There were plenty of tables and seats available at 10:00 am on a Saturday. I glanced at a menu quickly then ordered a large oxtails with cheese and grits. I also asked for a side of collards (menu indicated sides were served until 12:00 pm). I was advised that collards were lunch sides and not available in the morning. I was kinda disappointed bc I wanted something green (veggie) with my oxtails and grits. The hostess suggested eggs, so I went with eggs as my side. My total $23.00. I waited about 15/20 mins for my order and took it to go. Upon arriving back to my hotel, I found a very large platter of oxtails with cheese grits. The oxtails were savory and perfectly covered in gravy. The grits were hearty, filling, and cheesy. I tried the eggs, and they were just ok. Nothing special. I went back to my oxtails and grits with ease. The dish was fantastic, and I was happy with my decision. I have to give Ochocinco his props, he knows where to find some good food. I wish I had a longer stay in MIA bc I would love to try some of Ikrave's lunch/dinner dishes (of course, I would ask for collard greens again ). read more

The food was delicious some of the best soul food I've ever had. The friend chicken was addicting! Hot fresh and crunchy with super tender meat. The greens were tender and delicious and well seasoned. So we'll season it did not require hot sauce. The Mac n cheese was flavorful. The green beans had a unique flavor I think it was made pickle juice and I loved it!! Finally the candied yams were yummy too. It had a bit of a smoky flavor that kept drawing me back. The only thing I was like to see improved is the sides need to be hot when they come out. Most of them where luke warm. That being said I still enjoyed every last one of them. They have said they were out of a certain food on Uber eats. But I go in, and they make it with no problem. Found this little gem while searching for a place for breakfast before we went jet skiing at Pelican Harbor. Had grits for the first time! They were wonderful. My husband had the fruity pebble waffle with chicken tenders. He gave it two thumbs up. The plate was clean. My son had the Oreo waffle. He said it was great as well. He is a picky waffle eater. At first I wasn't sure if it was giving me what it needed to. but once I added some of there hot sauce which reminds me of if Texas Pete and Louisiana hot had a baby btw! it was amazing! This is an establishment I tried to support for years but I finally had enough of their dysfunction. From servers with an attitude to servers seeing me walk up to order and then disappearing in the back for well over five minutes without even acknowledging me. Items always sold out and the 1/4 of the time the food is inconsistent in taste. The most recent incident that made me now never going to patronize them again is them basically stealing from me. I placed a Ubereats pick up and they called me saying numerous items were sold out and I said just cancel the entire order then. They didn't cancel the order and completed an order with missing items. They then said if I have a problem I better take it up with uber eats. So I'm being charged for items that they claim were sold out ! The video is the incident of the five minute wait and photos showing lack of quality control of the mash potatoes. I told my sister (who has these same attributes as me) to check it out and she called me back and her response was the same exact as mine. Worth the drive! This place honestly has the most delicious fried chicken and waffles ever! So on a Saturday I was really craving fried chicken an waffles. My wonderful husband I decided to take a bike ride to a place in wynwood, after a 20 minute ride we sat and they did where out of waffles lol that what this other place is know for! Anyways we decided to leave to another place near but but it was closed. Finally IKRAVE came up. Thank God we did. It was far from wynwood but we still decided to go because it looks delicious and it had really good reviews. When we arrive they didn't have a place to chain our bikes but they manage was so nice they let us buy our bike out in the back where they would be safe! Lol When we looked at the menus we couldn't believe the prices! Fried chicken and waffles for one $7!!! I know! Hard to believe! Most days the people (kids) who pick up the phone are unprofessional. Few days placing an order by phone is ok with service. Prices are very reasonable, especially when they have specials. The specials are posted whenever they feel like it. So you just have to be on the look out. Wish they would post it early in the day. Portion sizes are fair. I just wish they would be consistent and provide better customer service. I would like to add though that the owner is very professional and goes out of his way to provide good customer service , it's the kids working there who don't. Most of the time food is not ready when promised to be so you're there waiting. The banana pudding used to be soo good but it seems the vendor changed. Last ordered the banging shrimp special with seafood rice. The rice literally had 2 pieces of shrimp and I don't know what seafood bc I didn't really see anything. Their wings are amazing!! And if you dip/soak the fries in the wing's sauce they taste really good!! We tried both flavors of the wings and both I would get again. We also tried all five flavors of the specialty waffles: the red velvet and white chocolate with pecans were the best tasting ones (those I would get again), the fruity pebbles one was okay (wouldn't get again though), and the cinnamon waffle and the Oreo waffle were not good (definitely wouldn't get again). They seemed a little frazzled and confused. They kept trying to give us food we didn't order. Two different people came by with the same plate and we had to tell them each time we didn't order that and what we were actually still waiting to receive. They also kept asking if we were dining in or taking out several times. I think there just needs to be some more work on communication or some system put in place to fix those things. The oxtails were great too but the grits were just OK. Parking is a little tricky but there are additional parking spots on the side of the restaurant. Ok so we passed this place up at first then realized it was in the shopping center. Once there we sat quickly. Our drink orders were taking shortly afterwards. Drinks given and it's so good Koolaid.
