The tables are crowded together. Could have used a tablecloth on the tables. The salad with poppy seed dressing was lovely, enjoyed the Cappelletti soup, pasta homemade. The gluten free pasta was an additional eight dollars. Service ok. Coffee was good. Nice desserts. I was very cold , they have a fireplace , but it was not on. Sunday sauce was traditional. New bathrooms and looks like a new paint job too. Glad they removed the dining room rug and replaced with the wood look flooring. read more

Sat at the bar and had the Tour of Camino special, bread, salad, dessert and a coup of their amazing corn chowder. This is Italian American at its homemade finest. This is FRESH and high-quality food, not out of a bag or can and reheated. I mean "cooked for you" style dining. Chowder - Yes Please!!, a spoon full of creamy full-bodied flavor. This was packed full of savory spices, veggies and of course the perfect amount of sweet corn. This is a well-balanced taste. Tour of Camino - the fettuccini practically melted in your mouth; the piccata chicken was tender, moist and flavorful...now the Lasagna - drum roll please...FORGET ABOUT IT!!! You will return simply for this dish. Although it says meat lasagna the generous amount of season infused ricotta made this cheese lovers day! Bread and salad - B hot and fresh, S cold and crisp - please get the house dressing. Cheesecake w/ Strawberries - by this point you would think I would have stopped! Bring it, a fluffy and creamy filling, lovely chilled and sweetened strawberries on top and a perfect amount of cream if you dare to take that extra step. The ambiance and service were stellar. The staff held a pleasant amount of pride in the place and product. Much to our surprise we had to review the bill twice because we both thought they forgot something. And we had 2x drinks each!! It was my sister and I birthday. We decided on Italian. We aren't from the area so we decided on Leominster as my grandsons are 4 and 7. I wanted them to go to bed close to home as it was a school night, Wednesday night. What a great time! Waitress very attentive to our party of 8. Drinks served in a timely manner. Accommodated my revamped dish. Seafood alfredo. But I wanted garlic buttered linguine instead of Alfredo sauce with capers (yes, capers,I asked) delicious with plenty of left overs! Hubby got some kind of veal dish. It had spaghetti red sauces. He ate all of it and truely enjoyed all of it. That was to me a great compliment to Il Camino as he always has to give resturants reviews as " it was okay but..." not buts that night. My 7yo grandson loved trying different bites of of everyone's plates. I think this opened his eyes to different foods, especially my dish. We loved it. The 4yo, the lettuce,a roll and buttered spaghetti was good for him, until desert..ice cream served in fancy dish!! His smile was epic! Plenty of lunches for next day as we were all full. I ordered several platters for a baby shower (chicken piccata, rigatoni with chicken and broccoli, tossed salad and rolls) and the food was excellent. It made the entire experience so much easier than if I had tried to do everything myself; I could relax and enjoy the party. We had 12 people at the shower and there was plenty of food and left-overs, and everyone complimented the food (esp the chicken piccata). I grew up in Leominster so when I came back to celebrate my Dad's birthday I thought I would order some of that chicken Picata from my childhood that I couldn't get enough of.... maybe my expectations were too high but I was given breaded tenders rather than pounded thin breast's which makes a big difference. Also the sauce was off.... not even sure how but it just tasted bad. One thing that was as good as I remember growing up was the creamy Italian dressing, so I guess it wasn't all bad hahahaha. read more

I've been going to Il Camino for years and love their food. Everything they made was delicious but over the last several months or so the quality of the food has drops significantly. I usually go there on Sundays for takeout. The Veal Parmesan is way overcooked it's not tender. It's tough with too much coating on it today. I ordered something different to see if it would improve so I ordered the fried shrimp with the wide noodles with garlic and oil and salad. Again, the fried shrimp was in distinguishable. I thought maybe I got the wrong order that didn't even look like a shrimp. Way overcooked and chewy terrible I won't be going back there again until I hear things will get better. Walked into an almost empty restaurant (it was early). Had to ask waitress if it was ok to sit anywhere. She was setting tables. We then waited 18 minutes for a different waitress (Nicole) to come over and offer us menus an a beverage. Let me say that the service from this point on was fantastic. I suspect that the first server was trying to leave (shift change) but she could have at least started us off (18 minutes, if we weren't exhausted, we would have walked out for sure. I ordered the chicken piccata and I have to say that it lives up to the hype. They are unique in that they make it without capers (which I always ask for without anyway). Also served with a side of pasta with choice of sauce. Fresh Bread/butter for the table, entree came with a salad (fresh/crisp) and I even ordered dessert which I usually don't do. Iced tea to drink which was refilled often. Giving it 5 stars despite the beginning (she should be fired, I suspect that's not her first.) Kudos to Nicole for more than making up for it. read more

Was craving chicken Parmesan figured I'd try this place out pulling into the lot. Not an impressive building needs some thing. Walked in and really looked terrible I almost turned around. But I didn't. Was greeted fairly quickly and was sat down in a dark dank dining room. Ordered my meal and was brought some bread and a salad. Creamy Italian dressing was really good. Salad was good bread was good my meal came and. It was just ok. The red sauce is red I'll give them that. 2 chicken cutlets on a separate plate next to my angel hair. (In a bowl). Different. Usually served chicken parm over pasta ? Am I wrong? Place definitely needs an overhaul I can only imagine what the kitchen looks like. Wasn't a terrible experience. But nothing crave worthy. Is it authentic Italian? No. Is it fancy? No, in fact it basically has zero ambiance lol. But overall in this part of the state authentic restaurants are few and far between. Sorry, but it's true. But if you have a huge appetite for some Italian style comfort food, LL Camino does not disappoint. The food always comes out piping hot and the portions are HUGE. Their portions are what makes them stand out IMO. I can eat a lot, but I have never left here without 2-3 days worth of leftovers from my entree. Their garlic bread appetizer is another thing that stands out... it is phenomenal, and a trip here is not complete without it. The chicken picatta does not have capers (which is odd) but the picatta sauce is delicious in its own right. It has a lot of flavor and probably the best tasting sauce that they offer here. The chicken is always crispy too after being covered in the sauce. The other sauces are unfortunately just so-so. Any time that I have ordered the Alfredo sauce, it's always been bland, watery, and has an egg-type of flavor going on. I am here to tell you NO you don't and if you want real authentic Italian, this is not the place for you. The building really does not accurately represent the quality of the food being offered, nor the caliber of the staff within. The food and cocktails were all excellent, way better than I had initially expected. I had the seafood casserole, and it was fantastic...and I am saying that after visiting Italy for a month. We were staying at Great Wolf Lodge and wanted something different and this place did not disappoint! We ordered takeout and it was available in 20 minutes, which was amazing. I ordered the chicken piccata and it was really good. Not too tart, just perfect. Husband ordered chicken parm and had chicken fingers for the kiddos. The red sauce on the spaghetti was really good as well. Both Entrees came with a salad which was not just iceberg lettuce, which I appreciated! Bread was average, but who really cares when entrees are amazing. Only thing, I thought the piccata came OVER pasta, I didn't realize it came on the side. Maybe some people think this is what Italian food should taste like. It's not! Our meals were awful. The salad was drenched with some gloppy bottled dressing, the veal was hard as a rock requiring a steak knife to cut it. The shrimp "Robert" could have been anything but it certainly didn't taste like shrimp. The Italian Pinot Grigio was unpleasant. The food came out hot and the server was nice but the rest of the meal was so bad it created for us a new low in dining out. Avoid this place if you are looking for a real Italian meal. read more

The worst service and food I ever had. Everyone said this was great it wasn't. The building is a dump and the food was just covered by untasted sauce. Salad looked like they opened an old bag and dumped it onto the dish, threw in a couple of tomatoes and cucumbers that should of stayed in the refrigerator as they were nasty. Family and I went there for dinner recently and the food was very disappointing. The veal was overcooked and hard and chewy and to offset it the kitchen covered it in sauce. The sauce for the veal and spaghetti were entirely different. We had just gotten back from vacation and we're starving hence we were like just eat what you can and we will leave. Our waitress was gracious and fabulous but we didn't want to burden her with what wasn't her fault. It's an old-school Italian joint for sure, nothing too fancy, organic, or high end about it, but if you want some quality red sauce eats, homemade pasta and the greatest chicken piccata ever, and want the opportunity to spend an evening like you're an extra in Goodfellas, Il Camino is worth a visit. You MUST get the chicken piccata. The sauce is like 95% butter, 5% lemon, and I remember the first time I ordered chicken piccata at a restaurant that wasn't Il Camino, and was surprised to find that the sauce is a lot more lemony elsewhere. Anyway, the buttery sauce is decadent and fabulous, and worth the calories for sure! Drizzled generously on top of a tender breaded chicken cutlet and served alongside your choice of homemade pasta (go for the gnocchi!), you can't miss. Portions are generous, and you'll leave full and with leftovers. It is a homey place, and the service is friendly, even though there are often long waits on peak weekend evenings. Have always heard great things about il camino and finally got to try it. There is nothing special about the Atmosphere. Boring and dull with no music playing whatsoever. The smell on the other hand is pleasantly overpowering right when you pull into the parking lot. The menus are old and falling apart, but the variety is immense and reasonably priced. Because I had heard so many people raving about it, I tried the chicken picatta. the sauce was perfectly buttery and lemony; and does not have capers which I know is a good thing in many people's eyes. I personally enjoy the capers. The chicken is deep fried to a great crisp and stays crispy even drenched in the sauce: overall a great dish. I also tried the homemade wide noodles which were really good. I would suggest this place for a cozy night out. I loved the food, but not the atmosphere. read more

Absolutely loved the service and the food. And yes...the chicken piccata is absolutely delicious and literally melts in your mouth. I tried to duplicate this at home and it doesn't come close to what Il Camino is doing. The prices aren't cheap, but affordable still. The quality of their food is totally worth it. We went to Il Camino for dinner and my wife didn't like her meal; she said it was too much garlic. I tasted it and there was a crazy amount of garlic. She tried my meal and liked it and we split it. The waitress came by and asked if everything was OK and we told her about the meal that was too much garlic and we said it was aweful. The waitress took the meal away but didn't take it off the bill.
