Well I was here three years ago and the pizza was great my in laws like free bread that comes with the meals - however I'm not a big fan of the menu so my daughter and I eat there pizza ! However they had no pizza and then when I look at previous reviews they haven't had pizza for 4 days at least? What are they lacking cheese ? It's an Italian restaurant so they either do t have cheese or pasta sauce that is typical in any pizza dish or the pizza oven is broke - they wouldn't explain. - anyways - don't want to return but I'm sure we will next year for the complimentary bread that my in laws like, also they have no website to look at the menu and reviews are mixed . read more

The ravioli is delicious, but our friends wanted pizza because they have a wood fired oven. They weren't serving pizza that night. Were a little hesitant because of some of the reviews. However, IL Carpaccio was very good. They have some remnants of Covid signage and mask availability but no one pushed anything on anyone. Very nice service by Yuridia. The food was amazing. We shared a carpaccio pizza and a pasta with mushrooms, shallots, sage and sausage in a light wine sauce. Authentic Italian bread, good wine and carry away containers because even sharing, it was a lot. Good crowd, Great prices, too. One negative was use of a visa gift card which went sideways and we lost more than we were shown. Won't do that again. read more

Super thin crust pizza is very good and unique to the area. It's a restaurant atmosphere semi-casual that offers a full Italian menu. The service can be hit or miss depending on the night. They only take reservations until 7p so don't go there any later or they may not seat you. read more

We have a rule never to eat Italian outside of a few cities. Since Michael Anthony's and Pomodori were so good we thought we would try something on the other end of the Island. We entered to signs on the door that masks were required by everyone. I love Covid protocalls being enforced but no one told us that when making a reservation. Luckily everyone had a mask in the car. As we entered a hand sanitizer station was before the hostess stand. We were not greeted well. We had a reservation and were talked to quite poorly by the hostesses. They seemed upset with the number in our party of 9 (which was on the reservation). We were seated at a table that was not prepared for us. There was nothing on the table, from no place settings to no salt and pepper or centerpiece. The food was not good. The menu is too large, they do not do any of it well. Our drinks were not good, not even sure the right person had the correct wine the way it was served to us. The sauce on the Fettuccini Alfredo had separated before it was served to us. One person's dinner which was the Special of the night, came after everyone else was finished. They did not take that meal off the bill. I can overlook some things due to eating out during a Pandemic, but every single turn was a misstep by this establishment. Bad service, bad food, and cold environment. Four of us stopped at IL Carpaccio for dinner last night. We were all going to have our own separate pizzas along with salads. The server came with menus and the specials and took our drink orders. As none of us are drinkers we all had water and one coke. . The server came with bread with frozen butter and came back a little later to take our order. When we were ready to order she told us hesitantly with an embarrassed look they weren't serving pizza that evening making up some ridiculous excuses why. That was because the owner looked at her and shook his head no when we were about to order pizza. It's not that there wasn't someone to prepare the pizza or that the oven wasn't working. While I am speculating perhaps he believed we were only ordering one pizza and he wouldn't make enough money on our order As each pie is about the same price as a regular pasta dish or other menu items how is this not enough money? Why have an entire menu page listing the different pizzas? Why shake his head no at our sever when we were ordering pizzas? Why wouldn't the server when greeting us say they weren't serving pizza when we sat down but allowed us to look at the menus without saying anything? Perhaps the owner believed we would shrug our shoulders and order something else. We didn't! We all got up, paid for the coke cola and left. Not only did he lose money since he served bread, set the table and served drinks, the server also lost out since we didn't order and there would be no tip. We have eaten here previously, the food is "just okay", but that evening it was close by and we were hungry. We will never again step foot in this restaurant. The owner is surly, extremely unfriendly, uncaring,and a very poor host. Maybe it's time that he to gets out of the restaurant business. I don't care for tomato sauce so other options are really delish. IL Carpaccio's is one of our island favs. The new location, like the previous is somewhat unassuming from the curb. The owner is always on the floor and the staff is attentive. A reservation is always good, but are only accepted until 7:45. After 7:45, the restaurant operates on a first come first serve basis. IL Carpaccio's menu is diverse including a large pasta section, veal, chicken, shellfish and typically a fresh catch of the day. There are many pizza offerings and all are yum. If you are a bread person, you'll love the continuous flow of real Italian style bread. With butter, it is scrumptious. Given the Covid environment, the tables are spread well apart. This was a welcomed site. The prices are very competitive comparatively. Most any item on the menu are priced under $20.00. Some specials are a couple dollars higher. If in the mood for real Italian food in a nice atmosphere with an attentive staff, give IL Carpaccio's a try. read more

Very homey feeling place, feels like italy. Masks mandate is an absolute joke. Food is really good. Great service, even tho the bread ain hot know what i'm saying. Water was very refreshing, and they kept asking to refill so that's hype. Also the store bought parmesan is clutch bc when u was growin up that's what you would have. The music was very catchy almost made me bust a move. Sort of a whole in the wall so you know the food finna smack. They also gave me a tiny box that fit my left over proportion perfectly. The restaurant is large, with a feel of a typical NY red-sauce joint. Their 12" pizzas are tasty enough, with a cracker-thin crust. The pasta is done well, with the ragu as a standout. Chicken Valdostana was quite good on one visit, though not the second time, with a generous portion. The Vitello Piemontese, with mushrooms, crumbled Italian sausage, wine and cream, is also quite good. The prices are very reasonable for the quality and quantity of food. However, communication needs vast improvement when it comes to their hours. Their website lists dinner as being served from "5 - ?". This has been this way since long before Covid, and I get it. They don't want to stay open late if there's nobody there. So, I have traditionally called first, over the years, to make sure that they're going to be open, having been turned away a few times. The following represents a typical conversation (this one at 7 PM): Me: "Hi, how late are you serving dinner tonight?" She: "It depends on how many reservations we have." Me: "OK, may I make a reservation then?" She: "We are not taking reservations." Me: {SMH} "OK, will you be open in twenty minutes?" She: "We may be." Me: "OK. Bye." My wife: "Let's just get Mexican." The restaurant really deserves a total refresh. To see customers walking in with seat cushions tells you something. Exterior windows need a wash. A decent percentage of the population now have serious issues with gluten. Would be great to offer gluten-free bread, pasta and homemade gluten-free pizza dough. We have been going there for years. The service and food has always been great . Yesterday was the exception. I called at 11:30 am for a reservation and was told the last seating was at 6:45. We arrived on time only to wait while others arrived after us without reservations and were seated. When we were seated, we waited for a while, then were asked to move to another table. Waited forever for drinks, then food which was not as good as in the past. The margarita pizza was not a margarita pizza that I've ever seen. What a horrible experience my family and I had at this place. They don't even deserve one star rating. We walked into the restaurant to sit down for dinner. I had my sleeping 3 year old child on my shoulder and asked to be seated. A lady in glasses walked up to me and without saying anything handed me a box of masks for me to take one. We tried to explain that my child is exempt from the mask because she is unable to wear it plus she is sleeping. The lady basically said that we could not eat there and walked away. We have travelled all over the east coast but this is by far the worst customer service we have ever received. NYC has way better customer service than this place. If this is how they treat mothers with their children they don't deserve my money. We ended up going to Pomodori restaurant and loved it. read more

Lack of Atmosphere - Harsh lighting from the ceiling, no booths, tables covered in plastic tablecloths and cheap, uncomfortable chairs. Strange music that was too loud at times. The outside of the building is misleading to what is inside and this was supposed to be a new location. 2. Serving Issues - We ordered a bottle of wine and our food at the same time. Big mistake. After a while, we had to ask again for the wine which they eventually brought almost at the same time as our meal. It would have been nice to enjoy the wine and bread ahead of time. So, I've been eating here for 15 years. I no longer live here in the low country, but I still come back often to see family. From day one, the owner has been one of the cheapest, grumpiest men ever to run a restaurant. His idea of service does not involve a smile. This is called the hospitals industry. So this time in town, we arrived as maybe the second table in the restaurant. We were seated in the corner, and first thing we notice is that it's boiling hot in here. I wish that was an exaggeration. So we start with wine orders. I ordered a Pinot noir, but before I finished my sentence, I changed to a Pinot Grigio because of how hot it was. My initial order arrived, and it was the noir. Not the end of the world, I decided to just keep it and switch next round. Before I could even get it to my lips, I noticed the smell. The wine had turned. Clearly a bottle left from yesterday. Not uncommon, but I'm not paying that much for a glass of vinegar. They happily swapped it out, but I noticed he didn't pitch the turned bottle. He continued to serve it to people that didn't know better. The time came to order food, and we all have our typical orders that we always get. I ordered the Penne Campagnola, and a sausage pizza (to take home). My wife and I split a side Caesar. Salads arrived, and they were a tad dry, but that's typical for this place. My dad asked for a side of Caesar, which they informed was $3. The side arrived, and it was a HUGE side. Ok, kind of unnecessary. But, with a bit of salt and pepper, the salads were edible. Food arrived, and we asked for Parmesan. They used to grate it fresh for you, but Scrooge McDuck has cut over head by switching to Kraft shakers. I used to love the amazing, thinly grated parm that melted as it landed on the food. My sister started with the Kraft parm, and as soon as it landed on her food, you could tell the parm was spoiled. We took it to the bar, and asked for another. The owner, in his ever so graceful way informed us that it was NOT spoiled, and he fills the shakers daily. Bull. That parm was as warm as the restaurant. That's been sitting in counters for god knows how long at the owners version of room temp, which you could tell from the large balls of parm that had melted together. My brother-in-law is who took it to the owner, and as some FYI he's a chef at hands down one of the top clubs in town. Even he agreed that the parm was spoiled. As our table sat there, fanning ourselves with anything we could find, I'd had it. Between the previous visits with the owner being the grumpiest member of the hospitality community, the heat, turned wine, spoiled parm, and his reaction to us requesting a different shaker... I went to talk to him. As always, he's right, his customers are fools, and he's not going to listen to it. He's such a pleasant man. So yes, I tried to resolve with the owner, in his delightful ways. I was an idiot, the parm was fresh, the wine was opened fresh. I not so kindly told him to get it together and save his restaurant before it's gone. It was so hot that my sister opted to take her food to go, because she was literally nauseous from the heat. Back to the food. My pasta didn't have the same flare. It was ok, but not great. Not what I always go back for when I come to town. I did have a slice of the pizza when it came out, and again, just ok. Crust was great as always, and paper thin. The rest was just ok. Couldn't put my finger on it. Shockingly, the bill was a bigger disaster than the Parmesan cheese. But, we were so sick of the heat that we paid and left. It breaks my heart what my once favorite has become, and it's clear that they are struggling financially. The best thing I could imagine is Scrooge to sell it and someone young, full of energy and ambition to resuscitate what this joint once was. I've been loyal for years, and sadly I just might be done. As a background, I have a culinary arts degree, and did off site catering for a very long standing Italian caterer. I truly truly hope the owner sees this, and takes it to heart rather than blowing it off like he does everything else. read more

This is sad to only rate our decade-long favorite Il Carpaccio with three stars. It's just that since moving to their new location way up on the North end of the Island, our experience with Service has not been great. They are just slow. Nevertheless, let me get at it... To start, the bread is mediocre, almost like a grocery white loaf that's cut in bigger slices. They serve ample portions of it though. My wife loved the mussels she ordered, but her salad, like mine, was overdressed and oily. My son scarfed down the lamb chops. They appeared to be well-cooked. In our party of 9, the Salmon was an ample portion and flaky and enjoyed. My other guests angel hair with shrimp and scallops looked creamy and she gushed over the flavor. My daughter's and my pizzas could have been better- they are paper thin (an enjoyable departure from standard pizza, but the toppings were a little off- too many olives, too few mushrooms. My MIL's eggplant was served hot & cheesy and she said she'd order it again. Generally, the value for the dollar is stellar/ $202 for 9 people (no alcohol). The real failure is in the overwhelmed wait staff. Rushing around, missing things, gaps in visiting the table. She had a lovely attitude but when the waiter has to apologize a few times for various things including "it's coming out soon" you just feel for how under-water she is. We only come to HHI for two weeks each year. There are a lot of options for Italian food from Pomodoro to Ombra on the high end. IL Carpaccio has dropped a notch for us. read more

The veal ragu is still one of my favorite pastas (in life). My family has been coming here for as long as I can remember. Large portion sizes and good bread. It's not the "fanciest" Italian on the island, and I wouldn't necessarily recommend for a special occasion but if you're looking for decently priced good pasta and pizza this is the place to go. read more

I attempted to eat here with my husband earlier today during lunch. I had checked their lunch hours before arriving and arrived at 1:08 while knowing lunch was served thru 1:30 (as per their website). We were told by a waitress that they were closed. I questioned this being that their door sign said open until 1:30. The waitress pointed me to speak to an older man on the other side of the room. I walked over (of course he wouldn't walk over to the client) and was told the same thing (while never making any eye contact as he said "we're closed".). I suggested he change his door sign and we left. I will never know if the food is good, bad or indifferent as we will never return. I would also discourage others from eating here as they know nothing about service or attracting clients. We will stay loyal to MichaelAnthonys, Pomodori, Nunzios and Umbra. I came to this restaurant for the first time to celebrate my brothers 74th birthday. The service was excellent and the staff was super nice and on point. The food was good my brother had the veal cut with pasta that was really good. The calamari was excellent and the Baby Lobster, shrimp with angel hair pasta was good in flavor but lacked in seafood. It had 2 shrimp and hardly any baby lobster meat in the plate. The Bomba for desert was excellent but the Flan( I am Cuban we know our flans) the consistency was too hard and lack in flavor. The worst for me was how hot this restaurant was. This is August the worst month in heat and this restaurant thermostat was at 80 degrees. I asked if it could be lowerd but they said the owner wanted at that temp because he did not want to pay a high bill. If the temperature would have not been this hot I would gave enjoyed. read more
