He was so accommodating to all the kids at our table, as well as the adults. Food reviews: Josper Octopus--outstanding cook. Perfectly tender on the inside. Excellent location and atmosphere, you really can't ask for a better view no matter what section you sit in. I appreciated the thought put into the decor and overall vibe, it balanced classic coastal very well. The menu options were excellent, between the dinner menu and specials it was difficult to make a final decision. I ultimately went with the surf and turf and have no regrets, my filet was tender and the crusted lobster was a take I wasn't expecting but I was really happy with the jam packed flavor in that little guy. Our group unanimously had excellent meals with high praise to the street corn elote, Thai crunch salad, striped bass and beet salad. The key lime cheesecake is truly one of the best cheesecakes I've have in my life and that's not an exaggeration, that slice had to of been 6 inches tall, perfectly set, and had a lovely keylime flavor without pulling too acidic. Our service was OK but could use some improvement, the server managing our table appeared to be juggling a few demanding tables which left us with a cluttered table full of empty glasses plates, needing refills, needing silverware (to eat). When Kayla was able to get to our table she was knowledgeable on the menu, wine pairing, and recommendations. My recommendations would be to have a busser assisting the server with larger parties and help alleviate some of these smaller asks that keeps us attended to and frees up the waitress to focus on food and drinks. read more

We had a wonderful dinner at Quarterdeck. The waterfront views are stunning, and the atmosphere is relaxed while still feeling special. We ordered the salmon specialty and the blackened grouper, and both were outstanding. The salmon was perfectly cooked and packed with flavor, while the grouper was extremely fresh, well-seasoned, and prepared beautifully. Our server, Kayla, was excellent, friendly, attentive, and always checking on us at just the right times. She helped make an already great experience even better. We were currently visiting and wanted to check out this part of the island because of the lighthouse and thought it would make for a great photo opportunity together. Unfortunately, we ended up taking a nap beforehand and got there much later than planned, so we were worried they might already be closing down. Luckily, we were still able to grab seats at the bar. Service started off a little slow and, fortunately, it did improved throughout the evening. We decided to share the beef short rib 10/10 mouth watering with a wedge salad, and both were very good. For dessert, I ordered the espresso martini, which completely stole the show. The bartender seemed to be making one every few minutes for other guests, and after trying it myself, I completely understood why. The presentation was amazing, and the flavor was even better. I would strongly recommend ordering the espresso martini if you visit because it was easily the highlight of the night--not just for me, but seemingly for half the restaurant. The building itself is beautiful and has two floors. If you're hoping for a nice view, I would definitely recommend requesting a table upstairs. The bar area also offers plenty of seating options, including tables, booths, and outdoor seating. This is definitely more of an upscale restaurant, so expect higher prices, but the quality of the food and drinks matched the cost. One thing worth mentioning is that when driving into the area, we had to pass through security and were charged a $10 entrance fee. We later found out that if we had mentioned it to the restaurant, they would have removed the charge from our bill. Lesson learned, and hopefully anyone reading this review can take advantage of that tip. After dinner, we walked around the dock and checked out the boats. The area has a really cute downtown vibe, but since we arrived so late, most places were already closed. Next time, I'd definitely like to spend more time exploring the area during the daytime. Overall, this was a great experience, and I would highly recommend checking it out. read more

Decades of dining. Bland today. Caveat; when seeking upper level deck dining, select the shade and pull on a sweater. We have dined at all Harbourtown restaurants, and Quarterdeck is the Best. We like that Quarterdeck employs a number of Central American folks, and these folks require some geographic training. We have dined on nearly all menu items, and my dear wife suggest shrimp and grits. This popular low country menu item is often abused in Hilton Head, and the novice Quarterdeck COOK contributes to the abuse. Frozen shrimp is way overcooked; sauce is pretty, but tasteless, and grits ate BLAND. I summons server, Bryan for Tabasco sauce, and of course, a liberal application greatly improves this Bland meal - Tabasco should be on all tables. Of course, there are taxes and a Resort Fee - Today, I elect to consider these fees to be optional in adding a tip; really must continue this practice. read more

With iconic lighthouse and wraparound deck, it's one of the best places to see the sunset on the island! Reservations are required to sit in the main dining area most nights but there is a small first come first serve area by the outside bar where we snagged a table. Service is on point with the full menu and attentive waitstaff. The menu is very seafood heavy but there are some interesting salads as vegetarian options. We have always enjoyed QDeck during our Hilton Head, Sea Pines stays as we are regular visitors. This week's experience however things didn't seem up to par, it was as if they were mostly interested the next customer. Food is always terrific with superior seafood options. Our 2 visits this week were ok, moderately warmed food and simply not our past experience. Service however is always exceptional, bar tenders remember you and service is always great. Many drink options to please happy hour crowd and diners. QDeck offers spectacular views in every seat for those who are first time visitors and those who celebrate with family each year. Perhaps an off week and we'll certainly be back as it's an HHI Sea Pines given that QDeck can be and is the best. read more

Then for dinner, I had the Specialty Salmon with pineapple salsa and rock shrimp risotto (good, but needed a bit more flavoring and wish there'd been more pineapple); my husband had the Dafuskie Deviled Crab Cakes (yum, but he prefers a more saucy dish), and my dad had the Local Catch (swordfish) over Sweet Corn-Blue Crab Chowder (the group favorite!). The Quarterdeck is Sea Pines newest restaurant. Its views are breathtaking. You overlook the iconic lighthouse and the harbor. Great picture spot! They spared no expense on furnishings and decor. Everything in this place is just beautiful all the way down to the door pulls. The servers are all very well trained and knowledgeable with the menu. They go above and beyond to make sure you enjoy your dining experience. I HIGHLY recommend reservations about a week in advance. It's almost impossible to get in the day of. The food is all amazing. Our family of 10 had a very nice dinner here. Seafood is on the menu. I personally had grouper and I thought it was great. Everybody had some version of seafood except for our grandson, whose favorite food is a hamburger. Service was unusually attentive and effective. If you're going to spend the weekend in Hilton head island, you have to go experience the culinary play calling going on at Quarterdeck. Beautiful food, beautiful view. There's not much more you could ask for. I had the crab chowder with local market fish, I subbed out the swordfish for the halibut. Nothing against swordfish, I just don't think swordfish has what it takes to be a starter in this league. I ended up being right, the halibut was my quarterback tonight. It did nothing but shine by throwing for what felt like a touchdown every bite. It was surrounded by an outstanding offensive line of crab chowder topped with truffle oil that look like routes being drawn up for a quick first down. This was one of those dishes you're eating and eating until you look down and realize it's already gone. Luckily, the waitress threw a flag on bringing the bill and brought the dessert menu instead. The offense managed to run out some clock before a last second 2 plate conversion by Key lime cheesecake. My mouth is watering just thinking about. Unbelievable PFT. Presentation, flavor, and texture. The key lime was light and not overbearing. Perfect way to end a game after a round of golf. read more

Be aware, if you're not staying in the gated community where this restaurant is located, you have to pay a $9 gate fee just to get to the restaurant...consider it a parking fee. Some of the things we ordered were the shrimp basket, salmon, hush puppies (amazinggggg!!!), swordfish over corn chowder (fresh catch of the day), sautéed shrimp, she crab soup, and gumbo. Everything was very good! One thing I would say is some of the portions of the seafood are very highly priced for not a lot of food, but that's okay. My family and I came here for a birthday celebration while visiting from out of town. We made a reservation, which I highly suggest that you do. Even on a weeknight evening it was very busy in the off-season. They took us into a private room upstairs, which we mainly had to ourselves until the last half hour of our meal. Our server Tyrese was very attentive and friendly. He made sure we had everything that we needed. Everyone enjoyed the food. We shared alligator bites and hush puppies and street corn appetizers which were all very good. Everybody ordered different dishes, but nobody was dissatisfied with them. I had the blackened chicken Alfredo, which was very good and I had a lot of leftovers. They knew that we were celebrating my mother-in-law's birthday and they brought out a very nice dessert for her with extra spoons for us to share. We all ordered drinks as well. Everything went smoothly and the experience was pleasant. Being able to look out over the water was quite nice. We got to watch dolphins playing while we ate. If you're looking for a beautiful restaurant with a lot of ambience this would be a great choice. It is a walk from the parking area to the restaurant, so please keep that in mind. Visited the Quarter Deck, one of our favorite go to when we're on Hilton head Island. I had the fried fish sandwich and fries and my wife ordered the filet mignon. My fried fish sandwich was tasty and a generous portion. My wife had to return the filet mignon, as it was very chewy, not tender, and quite hard to cut through. She ended up with the Atlantic salmon which she liked. Kari our server was excellent!! The ambiance, service, and view at The Quarterdeck were all excellent--truly spectacular and exactly what we were hoping for on our first visit to Hilton Head. Unfortunately, the food did not live up to the setting. As a pescatarian who does not eat meat, dairy, or eggs, the menu options were extremely limited. We ordered the ahi poke, shrimp cocktail, and French fries. We weren't able to order the calamari because the batter contains eggs and buttermilk, and when we asked about sourdough bread, we were told they don't offer bread at all. The ahi poke was disappointing--easily the worst poke I've had. The sauce was bland and didn't resemble traditional poke flavors. It was topped with prepared seaweed salad and served with green mounds on the side that looked like guacamole but tasted more like a mayo-based mixture. The shrimp cocktail, however, was excellent. The shrimp were large prawns and very flavorful--definitely the highlight of the meal. We chose The Quarterdeck primarily for the view and didn't do extensive research beforehand. It's worth noting that the restaurant is located inside a gated community, and we had to pay $9 just to enter. While the setting is beautiful, the limited menu options and underwhelming food quality mean we won't be returning. read more

I had made reservations three days in advance and had to tell the hostess twice that we were waiting, while parties with no reservations were being seated. We had a party of five and were seated at a four person table with a chair added to the end while a five person round table was available right beside us. We had to ask to be moved. I have frequented Quarter Deck many times, primarily for drinks, soaking in the water views, and enjoying the lively evening crowd. It's always been a relaxing spot to unwind and take in the scenic surroundings. On this occasion, we stopped by for lunch instead of our usual evening visits. We decided to order a grilled chicken sandwich, although it was not listed on the menu. When it arrived, it looked as if it had been stored in a refrigerator and then merely warmed up. not freshly grilled. It was not the quality we expected, but since we were hungry and tended to avoid sending food back to the kitchen, we chose to eat it anyway. Despite the misstep with the meal, our experience at Quarter Deck remains a reminder of its wonderful ambiance, especially for late afternoon relaxing sessions while enjoying the beautiful water views. When you're on vacation at Hilton Head Island can be expensive. Just to get in Harbourtowne is $9 for visitors. We had a great meal at this lovely place with beautiful views of the Harbor. Instead of shellfish we had red snapper, swordfish and grouper. All were great. The wine selections were a great accompaniment. Our server was polite, smart and a great guide on menu suggestions.
