i think you really come here for the drinks and ambiance, food not so much. tried their house made expresso martini and that was really good. had three!! we went there for dinner and got the charred broccolini, mushrooms, roasted garlic focaccia, tomato basil mozzarella, squid ink gnocchi, and casonceli. we liked the broccolini for the cheesiness, mushrooms were really good, the focaccia with the tomato basil mozz was really tasty too and i only liked the lobster in the squid ink gnocchi. the casonceli was over salted. the gnocchi in the squid ink plate had a grainier texture that totally killed the dish. it would be really hard to mess up side dishes thank god but the main entrees were disappointing. our waitress comped the casonceli for us and was really nice about it. no complaints about the service at all!! read more

Went to try Il Cervo before the hockey game last night at the fiserv. Everything about this dining experience was amazing. We got the sourdough and and Arancini for the appetizer and both were just phenomenal. The arancini were so crispy yet gooey on the inside! For entrees, my date got the squid ink gnocchi and i got the hot chicken Parmesan and they were PHENOMENAL. Finally, our server was great. She was attentive and really just had a professional, yet friendly vibe to her. Definitely will be coming here again!!!! read more

Loved the food here! Had a reservation on a Saturday night but for whatever reason, wasn't seated for 10 minutes after arriving. Other guests came in, with and without reservations, and didn't have to wait. The restaurant is beautifully built, the staff is mostly friendly, and the food is amazing. I'll be back! read more

The rooftop at Il Cervo has an awesome view of Milwaukee! I came for drinks on the rooftop patio with friends on a summer weeknight, and was surprised at how busy the restaurant and bar were! The rooftop is first come first serve, and although it was busy we found a place to sit fairly quickly which was great. We grabbed drinks from the packed indoor bar and enjoyed the great weather and view. The interior of the restaurant is really beautiful and very upscale, and would be ideal for a special date night or celebratory dinner. read more

First off, the view of the city is absolutely incredible. This is a perfect date night spot! The ciabatta is made in house and swimming in a delightful lake of cheese. The arancini was reminiscent of the arancini we had in Italy (and was incredible reheated). The sourdough pizza is absolutely to die for! 4/4.5 stars with an EASY possibility of being a 5 star. This was some of the best food I've had in Milwaukee, and the ambiance is perfect. It's upscale and modern and it has decent views of the city. The booths are comfortable but VERY low, and we're all tall people (6' or taller). I kinda felt like a kid sitting at the grownups table when I sat down, but eventually I got over it (probably won't sit in one on my next trip though). The food was the standout. The focaccia everyone mentions is absolutely DIVINE. I'm so mad we only got one order. We got the times I mozzarella which was really good, but I'd probably just order two focaccias next time, and we got arancini which were also so good I'd probably get a second order. The rest of our food was very good, too. My sister in law loved the bolognese, the mushroom pasta my partner got was "phenomenal" (his words), my brother in law loved the veal, and I enjoyed my pizza with speck on it. The desserts were good, but I think I'd skip them next time. Cocktails and wine were very good. Everyone loved their drink, my aviation was spectacular. Our service was decent, but there are some kinks to iron out. Our waters weren't refilled until our entrees came out, and since we were seated in a corner booth in the bar, it wasn't easy to get the attention of any of the wait staff, also we couldn't order more drinks either because of that. And like one of the other reviewers said, it took like 15 minutes after we ordered to get our drinks (and refills). Service wasn't "bad" and our server herself was so sweet, but having been a server myself, it wasn't as attentive as it could have been for the amount of money we paid. Overall I will ABSOLUTELY be returning to Il Cervo. I'll probably come back to sit outside and have appetizers and drinks, and to maybe split a pizza. I have been here multiple multiple times and have loved everytime I've been here. But today I was there and the shrimp was literally tiny. I asked if they changed the shrimp and was told word for word that "because of the RNC being in Milwaukee they had to get different shrimp" the waitress apologized and she even said the head chef send his apologies. I mean she came and apologized a million times. Then brings the bill with the pasta on it. Half eaten literally had one bite of the weird tasting shrimp and don't eat the rest. I'm just confused why the chef apologized for his terrible quality food and then I get the bill paying for said terrible food that needed to be apologized for?? That rubbed me the wrong way. I have visited Il Cervo 7-8 times. Every time I've received both exceptional service and food. Unfortunately, this time may have encouraged us to never come back. We ordered food and drinks at the bar. Later, the bartender, Scottie, asked us "do you guys want shots for this woman's birthday" (random woman at bar) even though none of us wanted to drink or knew this woman. He literally asked 3-4 times. And so we said "okay.." On our bill, there was $158 in drinks and food that we didn't order, including the "birthday shots." Bluntly, the bartender tried to scam and gaslight us. When we clarified the fraudulent charges, the manager addressed the issue immediately and appropriately. Beware of Scottie the Scammer. After this experience we won't be revisiting. Great food, great views, but definitely check your bill for accuracy. read more

I love The Trade Hotel where this restaurant is located! After my dinner here the first night of my stay, I was poised to leave a great review. Food was wonderful, drinks were great and the bartenders were awesome! However, the second night I went to check out the late night menu and I ordered the fried olives with banana peppers and whitefish dip. I had an extensive conversation with the bartender about how he dips the olives in the dip and it's an awesome snack; just what I needed late night. The olives came out about 25 minutes later with no whitefish dip. I inquired with the bartender, who said they were "probably out of it". He asked someone who I presume to be his manager if they were out of the whitefish and she said she would go check. After she bussed a couple of tables, ran some food and made drinks for a large party, she still hadn't come back to say if the whitefish was coming or not. It wasn't until about 15 minutes later when I asked again that they told me they were out of the whitefish. In what world do you serve a dish to someone without all of the listed components and just assume it will be ok and not mention it or come back and let them know? If I would have known that they didn't have the whitefish, I would have selected a different menu item. Their apology was "sorry we're short staffed". Ok. Also not my problem. This restaurant is not cheap, service needs to match the price tag. read more

This is definitely a breath of fresh air for Milwaukee's food scene. The ambiance and decor is so beautiful from the moment you walk in, with a very nice view of downtown. The menu had so many great options, we'll definitely come back to try a few more items. Everything we ordered was delicious. The chicken Parmesan was super unique with a bright Calabrian chili flavor. The one item I'd critique is the sourdough bread starter, it just needed to be warmed up. This was a great early evening dinner spot. The views were just as outstanding as the customer service. So weather permitting, I would definitely recommend eating outside. The entire meal was amazing and very filling. We ordered the spaghetti which was outstanding. The meatball and Italian sausage blended well with the meal but the lamb sausage, not so much. The spicy pepperoni pizza was also very good and filling. The amount of pepperoni stacked in each slice was a meal by itself. It only needed maybe some Italian seasoning added. If I could give it no stars I would. I've been here for brunch and now for drinks at the upstairs rooftop bar. Service is terrible and they're rude. The bartender with brown curly hair didn't acknowledge my husband and I at the bar for at least 12 minutes. He had the audacity to give us the check then ask if we had drinks previously. We didn't. Why give a check if you're questioning what we didn't drink? You didn't even acknowledge us, so why would you then question us? This place never fails to fail. It is newer so to some degree you can expect bad service wow they figure out the kinks. However, we have been 3 times now and each time is worse. Last night we sat at the bar, we were not able to order food for two hours. It was nearly impossible to get a bartender to give us a drink and we had three seats. The ambience and design of the restaurant is good and high class but if they can't match that with at least regular service this restaurant is not going to last. read more

The bread was pretty good, I think if it was a little softer i would have enjoyed it more, but that's my personal preference. She smiled a lot, was upbeat, friendly and made great recommendations on their dishes. We took her up on a suggestion and we practically cleaned the dish.
