Not good. Bottom line up front for the casuals. Pretty entrance, surrounded by a golf course. The good pretty much ends there. Entered to see basically dated everything, carpeting cared for like it was older than the combined age of my family, and the ambiance of a live performer sounding like a bag of cats. Seated promptly 20-30 minutes after our reservation. The waiter literally could not answer a single question about the menu. When challenged with what dressing is on the beet salad the waiter replied that it was a... beet salad. Tried the house salad, beet salad and a special buratta salad. House salad was one bite and done. Couldn't ID the dressing but tasted maybe like it has mustard, pine nuts and basil. Was weird and gross. One bite and done. The buretta salad featured a single slice of tomato and some prosciutto. Was advertised with roasted peppers that were no where to be found. Only one person had the beet salad and featured the same weird green dressing. Two of our party have seafood allergies. We couldn't get answer from the waiter on cross contamination so literally gave multiple entree options for them to work with and the entree selection ended up a surprise. Ordered a variety of entrees. Chicken parm was not eaten, a pizza had one slice consumed, a special salad concoction for a seafood allergy was not enjoyed, I had a pasta with sausage and broccoli rabe, which didn't kill me but I would never recommend it or attempt to consume again, and then two people had the Bolognese, which they said they enjoyed. Incidentally the waiter kept telling every diner about homemade pasta. There is no way the ziti or penne that was served in lieu of the linguine ordered was homemade. The menu is huge. That's always a red flag to me. Do fewer things really well and not 50 poor to mediocre things. It was very busy when we arrived at 630, but nearly empty before 8. The restaurant has a formal section and a tavern. Too formal for Cape Cod and a golf club.. Tavern is dark .. menu mixed in with formal menu.. not many choices for a pub menu. My family and I had dinner here tonight. We were so looking forward to authentic Italian food from "family recipes". We were so disappointed. There is no doubt that the meatballs were frozen and store-bought. The linguini with clams lacked flavor, especially garlic. The chicken mixed in the pasta alla vodka was boiled and tasteless. And the veal parmigiana was disappointing. The menu and website is misleading. And the lack of professionalism and etiquette by the staff just added to a less than satisfying experience. This was a terrible experience. There were six of us. Every meal was either over cooked or tasteless. Chicken on the carbonara was overcooked. Veal was like leather. The coppino was tasteless. The service did not fit the price. No water service, had to Ask, food delivery was haphazard, actually leaned over the table to had the dishes. Not milk or sugar with the coffee. If you like amazing Italian cuisine, this is the place! It starts with a warm sliced loaf that comes with EVOO that has been jazzed up with Zucchini marinated in balsamic vinegar. To start I recommend the baked artichoke hearts & Shrimp if available as a special appetizer. If not then maybe an order of momma's small meatballs. Don't forget to order a glass of house Chianti or Prosecco. Main courses that I might suggest would be their classically done chicken parmigiana with homemade pasta or the savory veal saltimbocca ;). Got out of work early on Thursday night, ordered a large margherita pizza to go, was told twenty minutes, I get their early and paid up, pizza delivered on time, took it home and it was delicious!!! Awful service, awful food, and it is expensive for what you get. My wife and I have been there twice, first one was bad, we have it a second chance, but they failed. On our first visit, I ordered pasta and meatballs, the menu said the sauce was homemade and the meatballs were also homemade. The sauce was spiced up jarred sauce, which can be good, but certainly not homemade. The "homemade" meatballs, small frozen meatballs you can get at the grocery store. And this meal was not cheap. Truly the worst pasta I've ever had at an Italian restaurant. Our second visit was worse. My wife ordered the Affettati, "seafood salad," with Italian cold cuts, my wife asked what kind of seafood, the waiter said "shrimp, mussels, calamari, clams and scallops, she ordered it. The food came, which was meat some cheeses and peppers, etc, NO SEAFOOD. The waiter came by and she asked where the seafood was, he said it didn't come with any, we showed him the menu, he said that it was wrong and walked away, never asked if he could fix it, never apologized for the mistake, and never brought it up again. My wife decided to eat it, it was old and stale, nothing fresh for $26.00. I ordered the baked clams, which said fresh clams, but they were clearly frozen, and tasted horrible. Eventually the waiter came back, we got our check and left. The sad part for us is that we live at kings way, we thought it would be great having a restaurant on the property to frequent, but it is not this place. The atmosphere is an upscale hall. Tables haphazardly placed, the bar area is ok, the tv had a test pattern. The place sits on a golf course, but does not offer easy foods like, burgers, sandwiches, stuff to grab after playing golf. Instead, when they open during the day, you still only have the dinner menu. The staff is not rude, but not attentive in anyway. No visits to see how things were, they had to be flagged down. When they did come they were nasty, not friendly, one guy acted like he was mad because we asked a question, and the rest just have attitudes. Don't waste you time or money. The place is a microwave mill, nothing is fresh, and the seafood they have is not only not fresh, but old. We will not be returning to our neighborhood restaurant, which sucks. But I will gladly make the trip out of the complex after golf, there are some pretty awesome places to eat in Yarmouth Port, and the staff in those, is always pleasant. Ordered lunch to go from the golf course; Italian hot dog and a panini. Upon opening the bag on the 10th tee, we find a sausage sandwich with mushrooms, and an Italian cold cut sandwich. Called the restaurant back to tell them we were given the wrong order, and the reply was, well that's how we make Italian hot dogs, and we don't have a panini maker! So either the ordering sign/menu on the 8th tee was wrong, or the management simply does t care about truth in advertising. The "Host" was wearing a much too tight golf shirt which drew attention to his large belly. We waited while he spent more time on the phone taking orders, I guess, rather than being at the podium to greet guests. We were finally seated in an area with a non english speaking server which made ordering and asking questions very difficult. The food took a long time and there were little things neglected like fresh pepper and parmesan cheese, the server was also assigned outdoor tables and disappeared for most of our meal. The drink I ordered, the Italian Spritz, tasted medicinal and was sent back. The dinner portion of mussels were half of what we've gotten at every other Cape restaurant. Absolutely amazing meal in Yarmouthport this evening; one of the best gastronomic experiences we've have on the Cape in years. As context for those of you who may be familiar with the Italian restaurant scene in Manhattan, the proprietor Patrick, brings two decades of experience at the pinnacle and blends the intimacy and culinary glamour of Il Mulino and the range and quality of Il Postino! I started off with a simple insalata tricolore, napped in a fruity olive oil and a spritz of lemon; it was followed by a 2" thick roasted veal chop, tomahawk-style on a classic demi-glace, smothered with a medley of wild mushrooms, and accompanied by oven-roasted potatoes, carrots, and beans. For dessert I opted for the house-made lemon sorbetto -- a perfect, palette-cleansing balance between sour and sweet. The glamours Mrs. enjoyed a Caesar, "the best chicken parmigiana on the Cape," and a profiterole. Guests are offered a Limoncello courtesy of the maître d'h at the end of the meal. We've eaten here since they opened. The service is always exceptional. We usually go here with my in-laws and make a reservation but tonight we went just ourselves and ate at the bar. Our bartender was awesome(I didn't get his name) my husband got the swordfish picatta and he said it was excellent. I got the dish I always get, the chicken and sausage with fettuccine (polo scarapiello). Tonight's meal was a little disappointing as the chicken was boneless thigh meat instead of breast. The thigh meat has a different taste and was tough. This dish has always been with chicken breast and I wish it would've been noted on the menu as I would not have gotten it. I'll know for the next time and there are other delicious options on their menu. Otherwise, this restaurant has a vast menu and great service. In the summer it has a very nice outside deck. I SPENT 47.00 ON A PIZZA AND A SIDE OF MUSHROOMS!! The pizza arrived cold ( perhaps the fault of Grubhub). The pizza was supposed to have extra cheese and mushrooms. No mushrooms, and they didn't even bother to CUT the pizza. No cutlery, no salt or pepper. Mushrooms were bland button mushrooms.. not even seasoned. SO BADD. This restaurant has gone downhill since we were there three years ago and we would not recommend. The food was not very good....two pizzas ordered...one was burned and one was undercooked. Pasta dish was watery; swordfish was not edible. Atmosphere is loud and unattractive; big Pepsi machine in the dining room; service was poor with personnel having difficulty with understanding English.....not their fault but it made menu choices and questions difficult. The waitress was rude, inattentive and down right annoying. When I spoke to the owner/manager about this experience he was just as rude. He defended her and was angry at me for bringing it up to him. Well, I have to say, even though I will most likely be back again, I still have truly mixed feelings about this place. Let me start by saying that the food was truly AMAZING! Seasoning was on point. I had a yummy Ceasar salad, and great Alfredo for my main course. Then, I had the Profiteroles for dessert and oh my, they were delicious!!! Overall A+ for the cuisine. The service? Not so great. We waited 20 minutes at the door for a seven o'clock reservation. Everyone in line with us also had reservations. Several people just gave up and left. When we finally were seated, our server was very pleasant. He was clearing working overtime, since they were very understaffed. He worked as a busser, waiter, and bartender. Some of the staff were challenging to understand because of their thick Italian accent, but it did add to the experience! The atmosphere? Decent. We sat outside. It was nice on a golf course, great view, however, we got the bad table. We were seated right next to the dirty plates and dishes, which were an awful eyesore. No music, which was sad. The seats were uncomfortable, I saw some bringing a cushion. Overall, nice spot, if you got a good table. Social distancing wise? Bad. When we were waiting in line to be seated, there was no order and everyone was heaped inside a small hallway, no restrictions. I felt slightly unsafe. They cleaned down the tables, quickly between uses. But the owner himself had his nose out of his mask!!!! That was very uncomfortable for me. Montebello Restaurant ruined Mother's Day for our family. We ordered lobster rolls. They were the worst lobster rolls we never ate because they served old, just boiled lobster, so the lobster salad was hot. They were not edible. When I asked for a Gift Certificate, not even a refund, the manager refused. Montebello obviously thinks it's ok to serve inedible food for take out. AVOID IT LIKE THE PLAGUE. Never going there again and it is in King's Way where we live. read more
