The food was good, but not great. What really stood out, though, was the $24 Old Fashioned made with Buffalo Trace, a bourbon that retails for around $40 a bottle. I'm not trying to come across as snooty or high end, because I'm not, but even many of the better restaurants and bars in Boston's Back Bay wouldn't charge that much for the same drink. A premium is one thing, especially in a tourist area, but this felt excessive. That's the cost of an entire entrée at many restaurants, not just a cocktail. There's a difference between a reasonable markup and outright price gouging. If the owner happens to read this, I hope it's something that's reconsidered because it definitely left a negative impression on an otherwise enjoyable meal. read more

The vibe of this place was so nice, and honestly, the appetizers were the highlight of the entire meal. Unfortunately, the restaurant really needs to rethink its pasta recipes. We ordered the Chicken Piccata and the Chicken Marsala, and this might sound strange, but they literally tasted the same. It honestly felt like they used the same sauce as a base for both dishes and then just added or removed a few ingredients depending on which dish they were making. I love garlic, but there was SO much garlic in both dishes that you could visibly see it covering the plate. It completely overpowered everything else, and that's honestly all I could taste. It made both dishes really unenjoyable. We also ordered the Chicken Alfredo. The Alfredo sauce itself was actually pretty good, but the chicken was horrible. The appetizers were definitely the better part of the meal. We got the meatballs, which were really good and probably my favorite thing we ordered. The Caprese was okay--it wasn't anything amazing, but it was still decent. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this place. Very excited to go into Milano's for a nice dinner. Was able to get two seats at the very cramped bar, but that was OK. Had a nice glass of wine with my husband and ordered our meal. There were two bartenders, a woman and man, we ordered with the woman. And then we waited and waited and waited. Neither checked on us or asked anything about our order. When we finally were able to ask them since it was so busy we found out they never put our order in. No apologies, only asked if we wanted it to go. We said no and the male bartender took a couple of drinks off our bill. Very very disappointed. Early Dinner Delight at Milano's Italian Kitchen My husband managed to snag us a reservation at Milano's Italian Kitchen in Harwich--early at 4:45pm--but it turned out to be a perfect time to enjoy a relaxed, cozy dinner. The ambiance was warm and welcoming, and our server Lynne was friendly, attentive, and made us feel right at home. We started with cocktails: a classic Negroni for him and a Pineapple Express for me. Both were delicious and paired beautifully with the fresh bread and rich olive oil that arrived shortly after. A simple but satisfying start. For our appetizer, we shared the calamari fritti. The portion was generous and the calamari was perfectly crisp. The house-made marinara sauce was a standout--tangy, flavorful, and clearly crafted with care. Dinner was equally impressive. I went with my favorite, the eggplant Parmigiana, and he had the mussels and shrimp bianco special. Both dishes were beautifully prepared and full of flavor. We enjoyed them with glasses of Vecchia Cantina Chianti, which complemented the meal wonderfully. I could only finish about a third of mine, so I've got a delicious lunch waiting for me! We thought we tried the place for takeout last night. What a mistake we ordered first veal Parmesan dinner. The veal was over fried black and around the edges crispy with very little sauce or cheese on top. The pasta was just so so the sauce was at worst a cheap bottle made my wife ordered chicken français we are used to chicken français dipped in egg and flour and it comes nicely brown with lemon, etc. this is just two piece of plain chicken , parsley on top extremely tough very very disappointing obviously not going back again. read more

In short we placed our orders by phone, the person taking the call was respectful and a good listener. The food was ready per the time quoted and still hot when we got home. Lively and buzzing bar with two great bartenders. That could be the best place to sit, if you like high energy and don't mind a loud environment. Our server was newer. We were big fans of Villa Roma, it was our favorite on the Cape, so we were eager to try Milano's and had called for days awaiting their opening! We came on the first opening night to the public. Villa Roma to Milanos About half of the staff is the same, they were given the option to stay. Milano purchased some of the menu items from Villa Roma and tweaked some. It is a smaller menu, and they don't have specials quite yet but will once they have been open longer. Presentation of food is much nicer, food tastes just as good. Bar is larger. We were sad they don't have the Italian Wedding Soup on the menu. They bring you Focaccia to start which was delicious. Food Eggplant Parm - big portion and comes with pasta. This was one of our favorite dishes before and it was great. Lasagne - very good! Calamari - this was the only dish that we didn't like. The octopus was tough. Focaccia + Olives to start - delicious bread and the oil they bring out is good quality. Ambiance Lovely restaurant, they did such a good job. It lost its old school charm, but is beautiful. Reservation You should make one to be safe, there aren't many tables. You can call and they are good about answering. Bathrooms Super small. There's a funny picture of women in the water on floaties eating pasta in the women's bathroom. Parking There is a parking lot, but it is around the outside of the house. You can park in the lot next door, but you may have to wait for a space at prime hours. read more

We went to Milano's twice this week. We went first on a whim on Tuesday and liked it so much we made a reservation to return with friends on Saturday. Both times the food and service were excellent. For our first visit I had veal marsala and my wife had chicken marsala. We both enjoyed them immensely. Our server that night was Tiffany and she was terrific. For our return visit on Saturday I had bouillabaisse and my wife and one of our friends had lasagna. Again the food was excellent and our server Lynn was terrific. Finally, Milano's has a cozy, friendly atmosphere with not overly loud background music that everyone will love, even if you aren't a Frank Sinatra fan! We will be back soon. read more

My husband and I each had the Veal Piccata that was melt in your mouth perfection. Other entrees at the table were Chicken Marsala and Eggplant Parmigiana which looked delicious. We arrived at 4:17 PM to find all bar seats taken and the atmosphere was happy. The hostess was especially friendly and accommodating. She said if we promised to be out in 75 minutes she could get us a table in the restaurant even though we had no reservation. We promised to be gone and sincerely appreciated her accommodation. While waiting the genial bartender noticed us right away and gave us a drinks menu from which we ordered the Super Tuscan glass red wine special which at $12 was really good. After we were seated we waited longer than expected for service. The waitress was friendly but we found her to be mostly inattentive and offered no guidance about the specials, the menu, or the new restaurant. The busboy brought a basket of focaccia with a small ramekin of olives which we enjoyed with the evoo and s & p grinders on the table. We waited far longer than expected for the appetizers. The clams casino ($16) were small with no flavor, but they were cooked well. The bruschetta ($12) was the best item of our meal. It had great flavors, texture, and was nicely presented. We both said we'd get it again. The chicken Marsala ($27) had no flavor, but the chicken was cooked perfectly. The sole entree ($32) was meatier than we expected and though it promised a parsley cream Milano sauce with a lemon almond focaccia gremolata, there was no flavor. The entree promised broccolini and there was one sprig. We were glad of the s & p grinders on the table. The desserts we ordered were lemon olive oil cake with strawberries which had almost no lemon flavor, but the strawberries were good. The waitress returned after we ordered desserts to tell us that the affogato we ordered wasn't being served with gelato but with vanilla ice cream instead. We expressed disappointment but still got it and it was alright. The ice cream was unremarkable and the espresso was not strong. While it was nice to see that there was a $6 discount if we paid cash, we didn't see this on their website site, so we were unprepared with cash and disappointed to have to pay the $6. The renovations look fantastic and the new bar space is great! There's even a nice new patio in front. Aside from the great bruschetta, we left agreeing that we won't be back there soon. read more

What a great addition to Harwich. Greeted with a warm welcome from the owner Lauren right when you walk in the door. The bar scene was buzzing, with a full bar by the time I got there at 5. Very cool modern Italian decor with very cool natural wood touches throughout. I had the wagyu pasta chalkboard special which was spectacular. Went for dinner at 4:45 due to reading on CC Restaurant facebook website it would be impossible to get a reservation until September! Both my daughter and I have been to Milano's at separate times and we both agreed we needed to try it together this time! First time I visited with a friend I had the Chicken Picatta - loved it but eyed my friend's veal parm - I have been searching Cape Cod for over 20 years for a 'crunchy' veal parm! So I asked my friend for a bite and thought OMG - I finally found a crunchy veal parm! (If any of you readers remember Marconi's Restaurant in Ashland, MA - you will know what I mean by a crunchy and the best veal parm!) I ordered it and server recommended I ask for 'extra crunchy' - I got it and the veal was crunchy but very tender - I've ordered veal at a lot high restaurants and found it wasn't as tender as Milano's veal! My daughter wasn't hungry enough for a full meal but loved the eggplant parm when she went before, but she ordered just a Caesar salad (and said she forgot how good it was!) and then a side of pasta (can you tell she's a Vegetarian?) Anyway, all and all, our server - asked his name twice and still didn't catch it was very nice - but seemed to be handling too many tables including the outside patio. My daughter got her salad LONG before our drinks! Hopefully they can hire more staff as every staff member was wonderful. WAY too crowded at the reception desk - with waitstaff, hostess and patrons trying to 'go around' each other in a very small area! Although I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't too crowded (perhaps because our reservations was at 4:45?), we will definitely return but will stick with an early reservation and may wait until September! We both had veal and both servings were tender and cooked perfectly.
