This place is insulting to all Italians. The pre-meal bread was microwaved. Newsflash, this bread is supposed to be baked and slightly browned. The sauce is straight tomato puree, no seasoning whatsoever. Spaghetti tasted like it had almost been sitting in that flavorless sauce and rinsed off with water. It was disgusting. Mushy meatballs that are basically butter soaked breadcrumbs with a little meat; garlic bread was like a cracker with jarred crushed garlic. I pity the fools that think this is considered Italian food. I will say our waitress was very nice. read more

We went to LaScala recently and it was great. Our dinners were very simple. I had a sirloin steak and my wife had pasta with pesto both with a small salad and both were very good. Our server was Katerina and she was fantastic. She provided great service and was very friendly and personable with a great sense of humor. The setting at LaScala is an old house in Dennisport that feels very much like the old home it once was. We look forward to returning. read more

Ordered the combo eggplant and chicken parm with penne. Large portion but much parm or mozzarella. The penne was dumped on the plate without draining and it watered down the red sauce which was acidic and had little flavor. If you want a lot of food but don't care much about taste this is the place to go to. read more

We hadn't been a long time to we decided to try it again. The chicken piccata was not that good. the sauce was flavorful but the chicken came as a giant breast. Usually in restaurants you have chicken tenders. This chicken was rubbery. You have to tenderize those larger pieces, it's just not good as a giant slab of chicken. The other dish was chicken parm. same prob. the chicken needs to be tenderized. It doesn't take a lot of effort to do it. Also, the red sauce was not good. We were a party of four and we got the following dinners - seafood fra diavolo, pesto pasta with shrimp (substituted for scallops), chicken and eggplant parmigiana and baked cod. Heart and soul goes into this fantastic staple restaurant in dennisport!! The gravy (aka tomato sauce) was a close tie with one of the best i ever had. We visited LaScala for the first time last night. I went inside to see what time they opened and was greeted warmly by Billy. He told me they opened on 15 minutes but welcomed us to sit at the bar for a drink to wait. The food and the staff were great. We had dinner this past Thursday at Lascala . We got there around 6 o'clock so it was just starting to get busy and we chose to sit in the bar area which is big and was nice and cool considering it was pretty hot out . We sat and our waitress came right over and took our drink orders and gave us menus and explained the specials. We have been coming here for years so I already had a few things in mind to order. There veal Parmesan has always been my favorite here for year's. My wife ordered the sirloin steak and I got the backed haddock. The meals come with salads and warm crusty bread to start with , I've always enjoyed there salads or antipasto they can be a meal in themselves. We both got penne with Italian sauce as side dishes with our meals the sauce was on point. My wife enjoyed her steak and she said it was cooked exactly how she ordered it and my baked haddock was excellent the bread crumb topping was delicious and the carrots with it were delicious. So again we had a great dining experience here and would highly recommend this place if your in the Dennisport area to give it a try . read more

Ordered a To Go order with a large group, after the usual season and this place was one of the few still open. I had garlic bread with cheese and a side of meatballs. Others in the group had the chicken parm. The garlic bread was sad. Maybe I'm spoiled, but when I think garlic bread I think bread that is 2-3" wide an at least 6" long, crusty outside, chewy inside. Then covered in a layer of garlic (sometime cooked, others raw) then a thick layer of mozzarella cheese. Then toasted. These were more an inch wide, not very thick, 4" long, hard as rocks, with a little Parmesan cheese sprinkled on top. I could taste only minimal garlic. The meatballs were ok, about 2" diameter, but the red sauce they came in, and that came with the garlic bread, was uninspired, and not much more than tomato sauce out of a can. Others in my party found the chicken parm dry with almost no cheese on top. The pasta that came with was over cooked, with more of the bland red sauce. This was a Saturday night, about a week or two after the season on Cape Cod had ended (late in October), so they may have been short of staff and ingredients, this may have been their last weekend open for the season. Food comes in big portions. We had the eggplant and chicken parm. They were both very good. The mussels were a show stopper. Delicious! We made a reservation and got there right on time at 6:30. There was one other table of four and a few people in the bar area. It was almost 8pm and we still hadn't received our food. We complained when the waitress finally came.. as most people would. The waitress went to get the manager. Instead of apologizing and trying to make up for the terrible service, he accused us of not making a reservation.. we did. Then he accused us of not getting there on time.. we did. At no point did he try to make amends. He was confrontational and unwilling to make their wrong into a right. We told him we didn't want the food anymore and we didn't want to pay for it. He threatened to call the police. We said fine. He left the table and returned 10 minutes later with our check. We paid it and left. He was a horrible man who singlehandedly ruined our night. He swore at our kids using the F word as we left and almost shut the door on our daughter's leg. No wonder the place was practically empty. I will never go there and I will make sure to tell anyone coming to Cape Cod to avoid that place like the plague. read more

This review is posted on both of La Scala's Yelp pages. As a local during the summer for the past 20 years, I've been here once and I'll never go back. I got the chicken Pam and it was legitimately raw throughout, as if it had been breaded and fried up a tiny bit on both sides and then plopped on my plate. I cut into it and immediately told the waitress and she seemed annoyed and didn't want to deal with it or acknowledge that it was raw. After I lost my appetite, I didn't even want another meal in fear of what else would come out of the kitchen. The rest of my family did not enjoy their meal either. The sauce tasted like it came from a jar and the food is not homemade nor is it authentic Italian food. Since it's really the only "Italian" restaurant in Dennis port proper, La Scala seems like an obvious choice for people on vacation, however there are so many other options that are a thousand times better that are just down the road on Rt. 28. read more

Great prices and portion sizes are huge, but The food here is meh. I went during vacation so I was ready to go slow and relax and talk with my friends, we had reservations for 6:30 and we walked in at 6:30 and were seated at 6:31. We waited a while for the drinks,which we got no refills, waited more to order, and at this point I don't care, I'm talking with my friends and family. We waited more to get salads, and after and hour and fifty-five mins we were going to tell our waitress that we didn't want the food anymore because we got to the point where we weren't hungry anymore but we only saw her twice. So when we told her that at some point we don't want the food, she walked away and we got the food soon after. After over 2 hours the food tasted bland and like it was cooked in a microwave. My husband and I had a delicious dinner tonight. Fresh garden salad and sautéed mussels. The sauce was perfect with the freshly baked bread. Main course of chicken/eggplant parm combo with a side of their homemade meatballs was the best ever! The perfect Italian dessert is tiramisu which was to die for! The dining room is very clean and cozy with a wood burning stove for added ambience. The staff is very friendly, attentive and extremely cautious regarding covid protocol.
