Cozy atmosphere and amazing food. The staff perfectly paced our meal and we never felt rushed. Started our meal with the Aranci, house made bread, and some drinks. The pasta dishes were absolutely delicious. The shrimp and lobster in the scampi were perfectly cooked. The espresso creme brulee paired with a cup of coffee was the perfect ending to the evening. Came for an office Holiday gathering of 20. We were sat at a long table that sat us comfortably. We did have a limited menu to choose from which had a few options ranging from chicken parm, gnocchi to pizza. As well as appetizers that included stuffed peppers, they had a kick that hit you 3 bites in and shrimp scampi, which was very flavorful. My opinion the drinks were the best thing on the menu. We all ordered different drinks and when I say they were strong, they were strong but good strong. Staff were very friendly. Overall location is a nice size. Not too large. I do need to add, for our large party we were seated in the middle of the dining area. I don't believe they had any closed or back rooms that were able to accommodate our party. read more

This was the first time here for me and my girlfriend and we very glad that we chose the restaurant, which we believe is one of the best in the area. I requested a booth and we were given a choice booth in the bar, the downside being that diners are too close to each other. A loud party was seated next to us as we were toward the end of our meal. The host was pleasant, and we were seated almost immediately on a busy Saturday night, thankfully with a reservation. Server Ryan was excellent: engaging, friendly, and attentive despite having a lot on his plate. Service was slow, likely because the kitchen had a lot of food to prepare, but a leisurely meal was fine with us. Our zucchini fritti, pizza with sausage and rapini, and mushroom paperdelle pasta in a cream sauce, were all outstanding and the portions were good. The zucchini was served with a delicious, smooth tomato sauce. A friendly busser asked if we wanted extra parmesan cheese, which we did. He brought over a container with a nice amount of it, which we sprinkled on the pizza and pasta dishes.The restaurant is more pricey than most: $16 for the zucchini appetizer, $27 for my pizza and $31 for my girlfriend's entree, and the entrees are accompanied by nothing but bread and a tasty oil mixture. Comparing it to my favorite neighborhood Italian restaurant, it comes up short on price. Franco's Trattoria offers a generous portion of delicious chicken parmigiana and soup or salad for $25. We will return to Il Pizzaiolo. We enjoyed it. -- read more

Il Pizzaiolo was a nice little date night spot. It was just my girlfriend and I so we showed up without a reservation and they still sat us at the area near the bar without delay. The complimentary bread and oil was very nice and definitely got me in the mood for a plate of pasta. I ordered the shrimp and lobster scampi and it was absolutely delicious. My only gripe with the place is the serving sizes don't reflect the prices, I feel like they could dish out a little more for a $30 plate of angel hair noodles. All and all we had a great time and definitely would recommend trying this place out if you're in the mood for a nice Italian meal. read more

We always have food service and the food is top notch. They make all their pastas in house, so we always go for pasta. Food is really good. Ambiance is modern Italian, nice and lit, could use another TV or 2 if your are going to have 1 in bar. Those are the 2 stars. We had 3 service attendants behind the bar during our visit. The male tender only made drinks and took regulars orders if they wanted to interrupt his conversation. We got drinks upon arrival and stuffed peppers. They had to fly the f16 to Sicily for right spice but after 45 minutes we got them. DELICIOUS!! Upon peppers arrival our unattended server graced us with a "would you like anything else to eat?" Oh yeah, we do, but we had to put that in 20 min prior after interrupting the other server behind bar. So basically after he didnt realize we ordered our 2 Entrees with other server, 20 min later after everyone at bar( who all have changed over since we arrived) and new customers start getting their entrees before us. So after whole bar has their entrees before us( some ate soup/salad/apps) before as well. Nothing said by anyone besides the kitchen is busy and the Ribeye takes a while to cook medium? Then asked server for check and after she attends to everyone else in place besides us, we ask bar back girl to get our check which she does for us. Please promote the bar back. She is only one who does what you ask of her. read more

I am sad we didn't try this place sooner. I noticed that a lot of people complain about price but I do think this is a great place with quality food. It has great ambiance and my first thought was I should take my family here next time they are in town. We really enjoyed everything and will be back to try more. One of my beloved restaurants that has been a staple for many years. The 2nd location is breath taking in interior design. It's done so well that you want to stay longer and not have to leave. The food is very fresh and cooked to perfection. Appetizers, soup, salads, pizzas pastas and main courses are offered. I always get pizza when I go because it's so good. They have a full cocktail menu as well as great wine and beer selections. Outdoor seating and indoor tables for larger parties make this stop for a good time! I'm really surprised by the negative reviews - we had a wonderful experience here for Father's Day lunch. The outside seating was lovely and everything we ordered was DELICIOUS! Calamari was crisp and not oily at all - Caesar salad was so light and packed with flavor, not at all like the usual thick, white dressing most are accustomed to. The roasted vegetables and meatballs appetizers were two other standouts. And their focaccia bread is awesome - like can't-stop-eating-it awesome. Everyone really enjoyed it and our waitress was very attentive and friendly. And don't forget to order dessert! They were excellent as well, especially the tiramisu. Can't wait to go back! read more

A group of three of us ordered calamari, a pizza salsicce and a pasta (Paglia E Fieno) to share. The calamari was thinly battered, crispy, and tender. Yet it was missing a component of flavor and seasoning. They also only served the "rings" and none of the mini tentacles. Pale and a bit disappointing. The pizza had a delicious flavor and the crust is soft and airy. However, the crust holding the toppings are so thin that the sauce seeps through the thinnest part that the texture is off putting when you put it in your mouth. The pasta probably was the best of the three. The presentation is very nice and the cream sauce is delicious. I might come back to try another pasta dish or to try the clams that were sold out early in the evening. Overall, a bit expensive ($54 + tax&tip) but the service is good and some of the dishes here might be worth the price. read more

Food is good. Not great. Service is average. Not great. Prices are a little steep so be prepared. $24 for a 4 cheese pizza. $30 for lasagna. And no, that's not family style. That's single serving lasagna. These are NYC prices. Bring a family of 4 and you better have your Black Card on hand. We just moved into the area and this is one of the few places around. But we can't drop $400 every time we want to grab a few drinks and some pretty basic italian food. I would say give it a shot and make your own decisions. Everyone has a different comfort level with price. Other's may think it's a deal. read more

For the prices they charge, I expected really good food and service. Neither happened. It took an hour to get our food and when it came, the $22 pizza with 6 slices was ok, but nothing special. The eggplant dish for $29 came with no pasta, and no salad. It was not tasty and the texture was off. Just layers of gummy eggplant in cheese and sauce. For a $7 side salad, I expected a really great side salad. It was iceberg with 2 tomatoes and onion. In my opinion, this place is way overpriced for the food and the service was not good. One of our favorite neighborhood joints. Not cheap but the food is always delicious and they have an awesome outdoor patio and fireplace. The servers are always friendly too. Definitely an older crowd but it's nice to have a solid option out this way. read more
