Avoid peak hours as there's usually a long line here despite other options in the area. Good coffee, friendly staff, food is okay but it's fast and convenient. Los Angeles, Ca. This coffee shop is located in the lobby of the Marriott. It was a crowded and lively night with some kind of real estate convention going on, a lot of suits and cocktail dresses. I absolutely did not blend in but that's another story. The line for coffee was long but the sole barista did a heroic job in getting the orders out as fast as humanly possible. After a short span of time our lattes were done and we were out of there. Then I had to ask my wife " Do you taste any espresso"'she replied "Barely", and I nodded in agreement. These lattes were basically warm milk. I've always associated the brand Illy with decent Italian style espresso that comes in a prepackaged pod. I stayed at the JW Marriott for two nights and stopped by this coffee shop (which is on the first floor of the hotel) both mornings. For breakfast, I tried the banana chocolate muffin, which I highly recommend! I also had the Lavender Mint Latte one morning and an iced Mocha Latte the next--both were delicious. It was great having this coffee spot in the hotel, which is a nice alternative to the usual Starbucks you find in most hotels. The only reason why I didn't give this coffee spot 5 stars is because the worker the first morning wasn't the most friendly. read more

Some of the best coffee you will taste. Located on the first floor inside the lobby of the JW Marriott. Its a tiny but mighty coffee spot. This was my first time trying out the popular Illy espresso and i have to admit that i was happily surprised of the taste. The staff is always so nice and helpful. We still had some time to chill before the Tomorrow by Together concert would be starting at the Microsoft Theater right next door, so we stopped for some iced coffee at illy Caffè. I was running off of 2 hours of sleep and really needed a caffeine fix. I ordered a small iced caffè latte ($4.25) and enjoyed the drink at the seats in the lobby. After finishing the drink before heading to the venue, I was sad that the drink didn't give me the extra energy I was looking for. Frankly, it was more milk than coffee, so I definitely didn't get the value I was paying for. At least their line was way shorter than the Starbucks outside. read more

YES A CHAIN BUT BETTER THAN STARBUCKS. Obviously Illy likes to be more fancy smancy than Starbucks and I can concur. I'm weak when it comes to coffee taste so was pleased when my lavender mint latte gave me some delicious warmth without an overly bitter taste. Additionally the barista knew how to make coffee and it wasn't burnt thank goodness. Also tried their heirloom tomato and coarser sandwich and was very happy. You already know I'm a sucker for good bread and while it wasn't crunchy, it was very fluffy and subtly sweet. Honestly I don't know why the bread is pink but I didn't question it and still ate it haha Honestly I was only here waiting to pick up my friend from the Ritz Carlton so all in all a good spot. My one complaint is the seating is by these huge automatic doors and it can get chilly. There is minimal heating in the seating spot. Parking: good luck. This place is located in the lobby of the J.W. Marriott. The service was great! There was only one employee, but they were very fast and very friendly! A little overpriced, but it's also a coffee shop in a hotel lobby in Los Angeles, so kinda expected lol Lavender Mint Latte: 10/10, really delicious. Not overly sweet! Salted Caramel Latte: 8/10. Pretty good, just tasted like sweet milk lol Chocolate Banana Muffin: My partner gives it a 10/10. I give it a 7.5/10. It was good, just a littttle dry. I definitely did not taste much banana in mine. We parked in the LA Live parking lot for free, as we were only there for about 20 mins. Lovely little cafe with its indoor/outdoor seating where you can watch traffic buzz by and people saunter on. I ordered a hot Earl grey and the French toast. Wow! Better be hungry if you get this for breakfast! There were 4 perfectly crispy pieces of French toast along with what might have been a whole sliced banana and a cup of strawberries on top, with a side of syrup. On several occasions, I found the café closed when I expected it to be open, which was quite frustrating. If you manage to catch it open, the line is long. However, the unpredictability of its operating hours makes it difficult to rely on for a regular coffee spot. read more

Coffee & pastry were tasty but service wasn't good. Personally, I wasn't given adequate answers to my questions. I only had TWO questions... It's not like answering 2 simple questions warrants attitude & lack of service. When I asked another staff member my second question that was previously left unanswered or ambiguous, I was the given an adequate answer that would have made me grateful to begin with. Also, I was told that it was a busy weekend & their customers were short with them and they are tired. I was told this in a very nice way but that is what I was told. So, even the nice customers don't get the best treatment under these conditions. I'm sorry that you had a rough weekend but I didn't approach you with an attitude & therefore I definitely don't deserve to be treated the way I was treated. read more

I like Illy coffee, so the 3 stars is mostly for the overall vibe and experience. This location is located in the lobby area of JW Marriott and a really small grab n go type place. Nowhere to sit. They weren't maintaining it well though as the place felt dirty with trash overflowing the bins and the counter where you get your cream and sugar was just a mess. While waiting in line for a an LA Live show I came here to grab some waters for our group and a little espresso to hold me over. The gal working (on a Thursday night) was incredibly kind, helpful, and charming to talk with. She was very knowledgable on coffee and tea beverages, made my drink in a heart beat, and chatted with me like we'd been long time friends. I've stopped in here a couple times before and had the average coffee purchasing experience but the gal working this time made it such a positive experience I am excited to stop by again before the next time I attend. Also wanted to recommend the gluten free, vegan chocolate oat cookie they have for sale with the other packaged goods. It was delightfully tasty, not too sweet, but perfect little healthy dessert to accompany my espresso and hold my over during the show. read more

For business and since it is right there in the hotel I have tried this place a couple of times and it has been the same every time, bad coffee, over priced and terrible customer service. It seems to be a more curated option than the Starbucks outside of the doors of the hotel property. Illy is definitely a brand I recognize and I'm sure die-hard coffee drinkers will be pleased to know that Illy has a space there. I saw cheesecakes and other slices in their refrigerated glass case and what looked to be wraps and sandwiches. There are tables in this cafe that opens out into the lobby of the JW. This cafe has the best latte of all time. Get the salted caramel latte. I really don't know what else to say about this other that it's simply the best. I've had many lattes in my life and this one just stands head and shoulders above the rest. Its not too milky and the coffee flavor along with the salted caramel really stand out. It's an alternative to Starbucks, especially since there are no lines here. It serves various coffee drinks and pastries. It also sells illy items as well, e.g. express cup with saucer. Spent $40 on 5 cups of coffee and 3 desserts. This place is definitely overpriced. Both vanilla lattes came out luke warm. How does this happen? When they were told that it wasn't hot the response we got was quite funny. "Did you just want us to put it in the microwave?" This practice should only be done at home. Another person from our party asked them to remake them since they don't know how to operate the business. Anyways, everyone complained about their lack of caffeine present in their coffees.. There was absolutely none, just a lot of sugary sugar at the bottoms of the cup. The only good thing about this place was the caramel cheesecake. read more

Good option to the always crowded Starbucks. The coffee is better at Illy's but their patented machine produces a weak cup. I'm guessing the water temperature is off as this location has really weak espressos. Service was good and they are friendly. Real Italian coffee. This is real coffee not a bunch of refined sugar and corn syrup type drinks here. They also have gelato type ice cream that I'm going back to try next time it's warmer. I ordered a redeye that's a cup of black coffee with a shot of espresso. It gives me a better boost then an energy drink without all the sugar.
