During a group trip I was able to get a much needed break at South LA Cafe. Ordered the Lavender latte. There is seating outside and inside. It's a good spot for people watching as the day I went it was packed. Service was good despite being busy. It has an excellent location and good access to the museum restrooms by the annenberg wing that are not crowded. Lots of community promotion on the table by the wall.

Blended Carmel coffee with extras provided on the side.

The cafe is located out through the museum doors and to the right. We had spent the morning walking around and were hungry so we tried this place thinking it was the only option (pro tip, it wasn't. There was a grill near the nature section we didn't know about). This place only had snacks like pastries, toasted bagels and empanadas that weren't very good. The blended coffees weren't super great either and were more watered down but it was a plus they also gave us the extras. They were out of a lot of things (sauce for the empanada and straws for all their cold drinks). The staff also seemed more interested in bantering with each other than helping customers. The music in the place was vulgar although I didn't mind it too much, but didn't seem natural for a 'cafe' setting. We wished we had grabbed a hot dog at one of the carts outside instead.

I love going to South LA cafe's! The drinks I got were good but I do have to say that the drinks I've gotten from other locations have been better, tastier! The biggest thing that I was not happy with was the costumer service. I asked for a coffee sleeve since my hot drink was extremely hot and the employee who made it just tossed it very rude... I made numerous comments about him throwing the sleeve and he didn't bother in saying anything! I'm confused, if you're going to work at a place that promotes being there for the community how are you going to provide that rude attitude to the people from the community. Other than that I love this place just not a fan of this particular location.

We bring the kiddos to the Natural History Museum often and so happy to find a great coffee shop! Their coffees are so delicious, I look forward to bringing the kiddos just to get my coffee fix from South La Cafe! Lol My husband and I shared their Western and The Crenshaw because I couldn't decide between the two, the Western turned out to be our favorite! And the kiddos shared a chocolate chip cookie and a brownie, both were really good! Can't wait to come back!!

A friend recommended I stop by South LA Cafe and I have to say I love this space! The small space is inviting and the glass walls allow the sunlight in all day long. I ordered a cold brew with oat milk and a mushroom empanada. The coffee is amazing, nice and strong! And the empanada was delicious. Full of flavor and piping hot! It comes with a tasty chipotle sauce too! Overall this is a wonderful community space that is filled with great people and joyful energy. And the music they have playing is seriously on point! Hit after hit and honestly makes you want to dance while you work :). I will definitely be back and will share this gem with my friends and family.

Very open cafe staff is nice, cool soft music not too loud, very chill. They have small bites. Coffee is absolutely delish! Definitely coming back

First time here, given I walked in 8 mins before they closed and was still accommodated was a huge plus. Coffee was one of the bests I've had . Perfect amount of everything in it Only issue was the parking to get here you'll most likely walk a bit . Other than that the location is nice inside and out

Didn't know what drink to get but I know I wanted something blended and the almond croissant. I was delightfully satisfied with whatever I got! Not too sweet, still tastes like delish coffee and so refreshing!! Plus, the croissant was delicious!!

Finally, a coffee option at the Natural History Museum. Not having to leave the building is a big plus.

The server said it was "getting plated" at the 30 mins mark and waited much longer and finally decided to just cancel it. 2. The pricing is way too high for the size of the plates. 3. The food was good but not excellent. For example, the pork belly noodles were just a glorified Japchae. 4. Parking. I mean it is.. Arts district. I want to update my review about the location of Zinc that I wrote over a decade ago. Since my…read moreinitial review, I've continued to come to this restaurant. It remains a unique addition to the neighborhood, as well as a good place to grab some interesting dishes. Since the opening of this particular business, the Zinc chain has opened in a few other locations. Those locations are much newer in not only their establishment but their design. This is not to say that this is still not an interesting, well-designed business, but, with time, it has become a little bit rundown. I hate to say it, but that is the truth. This location could really use an update and perhaps a deep cleaning. I was, in fact, kind of surprised at the condition of this business, for example, on the way towards their restrooms. From my opinion, it needs an clean up and an update. Also, the litter that surrounded some of the outdoor tables where I was sitting at my most recent visit was very surprising. This is just something to keep in mind if you're coming here for your first visit. In terms of what they offer for food, though it has evolved a bit over the years, they still have a great, heath-based menu, with some very interesting choices. For all of you vegetarians and vegans out there, you will, for sure, be able to find some tasty food to eat. Once upon a time, this restaurant was impacted with tons and tons of people. It was constantly full with people either going to the bakery and/or sitting down for table service. Shortly past their opening each day, there would be a line of people waiting for service. This seems to have changed, however. Meaning, if you're looking for an interesting place to eat, with some good dishes, at the far Southeast side of DTLA, near the lofts district, and you want a place without a long wait to get a table and/or your food, this may still be your place to go.

I got an omelette and it was fresh and light, but very small for the price and no bread included. Now for the rest, the service was appalling. Food came out quickly but after that we were barely checked on. We had to ask several times for things that we ordered and had to flag down the waitress to order a second drink and they took forever. We could understand that it was busy but the waitress never apologized or said anything like they were understaffed or anything. Also, we had a few questions about the menu and our drinks and the waitress would just say, "I think so?" or give a vague answer. She didn't seem very knowledgeable about the menu at all. Maybe she was new, but clearly training was lacking. I don't think I'll be returning but since I see many reviews relating to service issues, hopefully management is able to address the deficit

There is a small seating area, and the seats weren't particularly comfortable, but the space seems intended more for a quick stop rather than a long sit-down meal.
