After being a patient of Image Dermatology for over 3 years, I am saddened to write this review. I have been a patient of Megan and always found her to be a thorough and professional provider. I've had some recent concerns and called the office to schedule an appointment with Dr. Downie as she had closer availability. I received TWO text message confirmations for my appointment prior to and one email confirmation ( all attached below). I arrived to my appointment today and was told they " couldn't find my appointment", that I could be seen however there were 6 people ahead of me which would result in over an hour and a half wait before I was seen. I expressed to the office that while I anticipated a wait, 1.5 hours was well beyond an acceptable wait time. I am an understanding person and have no problem waiting 30 minutes beyond my appointment time, even 45 minutes if there is an emergency however, 1.5 hours is nothing but a reflection of poor office management. Additionally, as my appointment was confirmed but somehow not coming up in the system, I asked for reasonable accommodations from the office. I did everything correct as a patient : I confined my appointment, I arrived early to my appointment and remained respectful in communicating my concerns. I requested, as the error was on the office and not myself, to be seen later today at 3:30. Again, reasonable accommodation request considering I showed the office proof that my appointment was confined by their system. The only options provided to me were to see Megan on another day and time or to see Dr. Downie during her next open appointment which was at 5:00 pm today. When I expressed that 5pm didn't not work as I needed to head to work that time, I was offered to come at my requested 3:30pm time and wait 1.5 hours to be seen... so still 5:00pm. Very unprofessional and quite frankly rude. I'm not sure about this office, but I'm sure in business and healthcare, when a error is made by the practice, it is then their responsibility to fix the error without additional inconvenience to the patron. Late appointments are cancelled and cancelled appointments result in a $100 fee so there is a communicated expectation of respecting the doctors time, however this same expectation of respect for time is not given to patients. I gave this dermatologist office two stars purely for Megan, however this practice has lost me and my future additional referrals as a client. read more

I have been a patient of Image Dermatology for approximately four years. I had a new skin condition that had not been treated correctly by other dermatologists. So, a family member had seen Dr. Downie on a talk show and recommended that I check her out. So I did and so far that was a good decision. Every appointment I have had with her has been a pleasant experience. She is a very relatable and kind person. The whole staff is very welcoming. Usually when I go to a doctors office it becomes a hurry up and wait game; but that has not been my experience with image dermatology. They're very thorough but they try hard to get you in and out. I Recently had an emergency appointment for a skin problem that I am having. Although she was done for the day, after explaining the issue, Dr. Downie called me back and asked me to come in and that she would wait for me. She has run all types of test and proven to be very thorough with me, which is something I like. I have no doubt that she will not stop until she has found what my underlying issue is and cured it. read more

We absolutely love Dr. Downie! She is the 5th Dermatologist we had seen, none of them was this caring. She was the only one who put the special glasses and gloves on, got real close to my daughter's face and examined her acne. Then, first one ever explained types of acne, what type my daughter has, ways to cure it, what the best solution is. My daughter was already very sensitive and emotional on this subject (because of other doctor's mistakes and having no care at all) by the time we first visited Dr Downie, she took her time, sat next to her while my daughter was in tears; they cried together while holding hand and Dr. Downie told my daughter not to worry she will give her glass skin. She was not lying! We visited her on monthly basis, did everything she said, a month away from completing the treatment, almost glass skin. Dr. Downie will do one special treatment at the end; and will be over. We travel total of 3.5 hours to see her and worth it. She is awesome! read more

Incredibly frustrating and disappointing experience with image dermatology over the past few months...poor mismanagement, shoddy office staff. Discriminates against those who are hard of hearing as well. If you're reading this I would take your business somewhere else, save yourself the headache. Updated response 12/8/2020 I must reiterate the organization and staff at this office is very poorly managed. I've been several times at this point and yet they reply claiming they cannot find my records. A generic copy and paste response to my review seems careless and not very sincere. The accusation of being a competitor is a sad last ditch effort for this "practice" to discredit my negative and frustrating experience and quite frankly, very disappointing. read more

Yay! Finally found a dermatologist practice I feel comfortable with. I will be candid that it was not a prefect visit and I was somewhat apprehensive based on other reviews however I am also not naive to assume that everyone has the same experience. I have taken my daughter to other dermatologist in neighboring towns and we've received subpar service. Image Dermatology had a longer time frame to get an appointment than other places but it was worth waiting for. Our other visits seem to be a waste of time, copays and pharmacy visits. The office was well kept and welcoming with nice artwork. The staff was cordial although we had a long wait time to see Dr. Downie. Sadly African Americans have a tendency to not be " seen or heard" in medical settings. I felt that Dr. Downie knew exactly what our needs were and how to meet them. She was professional and very verbose - that may be off-putting for some but I welcomed the walk through skin care regimen she detailed for my daughter as well as with some great life advice for a young girl. I knew I made the right choice once my daughter said she would recommend the office to her friends. read more

I realize this is my second review of this practice - and of Megan, the truly-talented Physicians Assistant. I wanted to write a new review to talk about Megan's lip filler technique. I had my doubts that lip filler was right for me. I have a chubby face and didn't want my lips to make me look any chubbier. Megan gave me a very clear explanation of her technique and of the expected outcome. My lips look lovely with the small lines gone and a new youthful fullness. They look natural and pretty. Make sure you have your credit card handy when you go to Image Dermatology. You cannot see any dermatologist or PA until they have your credit card information. I am offended by this policy, as I've never had to do this at ANY OTHER DOCTORS' OFFICE ever! They are only interested in making money! Be warned. read more

I made an appointment for an acne consult back in November. I was hoping to get in asap but, unfortunately, they were unable to accommodate me until January...even though that was a little annoying, I am so happy that I made an appointment here. I saw a PA (which I often prefer-they typically spend more time with you than a doctor does and are a bit more thorough, in my experience) named Megan. She was great! Super understanding of my situation and needs. She recommended a topical medication and was really knowledgeable about the medications (I'm pregnant so there's not a lot I can take). I came back 6 weeks later for a follow-up. The office actually called me before to see if I was able to come in earlier-always appreciate that. I didn't wait long at all during both appointments. They do offer higher-end treatments and products which aren't covered by insurance but I didn't feel pressured to purchase anything. There's also a parking lot behind the building (a plus in this area!) I would definitely recommend this practice, especially Megan, to anyone looking for a dermatology practice. read more

I have been patients of Dr. Downie for more than 10 years. She is always very attentive, patient and thoughtful to my needs. I never feel rushed during my visit. Her staff (esp Roxanne) are all very kind and helpful. She akways checks in with me on a personal level (work and family). I love that she will always review what my current regimen is to see if any adjustments are needed. Her entire staff is helpful, friendly and efficient. read more

Dr. Downie must have found a way to get rid of the huge and loooong list of bad reviews I saw 2 years ago now showing mostly 5 * ones. She makes her $ well by selling you products that you can find cheaper online. She is an EXPERT at selling and because of all the glamour of the magazine covers in her office, you fall for it. She doesn't take responsibility for treatments that are not working on the patient (I have heard from several friends), but keeps charging you and rolling you in. I went there to get a skin tag removed, which she didn't even look at!. She right away told me it wasn't covered by insurance and mentioned would be $250, which they could had mentioned when I made the appointment. I declined to spend that money on the tag, however, 30 minutes later I walked out of there having spent $400 in creams for my face instead. She puts you in a position that you feel you absolutely need them. She shows you photos on her screen TV and you think those are her own patients, except you see the same photos online for the different products when you google them. She may be a good Dr., but she is a MUCH better sales woman, so watch out when you visit! read more

Dr. Downie is one of the best African American dermatogist in New Jersey. She is knowledgeable, through, attentive, patient, professional & considerate of your needs. Her office and staff are welcoming & comfortable. Dr. Donnie is also an endangered species in the world of dermatology when it comes to skin of color, so glad she's my doctor. read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Downie at Image Dermatology for many years. I have always felt cared for by the whole staff. The ladies who answer the phone are very accommodating to my schedule and always patient with me. Dr. Downie's assistants are thorough, personable and they answer any questions I have with knowledge and understanding. This place is awful. If you want to give your money away for services you don't really receive, this is the place for you. They made me wait for over an hour for a consultation for laser treatment. The consultation is mandatory but not free which they neglect to mention. Even when you receive the extremely expensive treatment (more than double the price of other places) the consultation fee is not applied so they bill you later for a mandatory consultation. It is insane that you have to pay over 120 dollars on top of 350 for someone to tell you it's ok for you to remove facial hair with laser. I tried to explain this and the doctor called really upset and tried to say that the consult was for acne. Except it wasn't. I have a real dermatologist for that. She billed my credit card without consent even though I was challenging this charge. There was nothing good about the experience. It's a money making operation and that is how you feel when you leave. There were really good reviews on another site and I cannot figure out if those are paid reviews. I would give this place a 0 but can't. I will report them to the BBB. It's not worth it to sue them but I would. read more
