Me and my wife have been renting here for over ten years and have had such a terrible experience with the new management. That we are leaving. We had to put in our thirty day notice TWICE!!! They said the first one was just verbal.. wtf? Everything over the phone is verbal!!! It's now the businesses responsibility to draw up documents for us to sign. Also she nice they knew we wanted to leave they nickel and dime us with fees and bullshit charges!!! 50 dollars to remove a lock? Come the ef on??? Stay away from this place unless u hate money. After 10 years of renting units at Imperial Beach Self Storage i decided to give my 30 day notice to move out. They got my move out dates wrong and blamed me even through I had an email with the move out date. I spoke with Joseph who was very polite to me to change my move out 1 day later. He said to check out with the front desk and that Lisa would be working that day. She would verify my unit was clean and the lock was removed. On my move out day I went to the front office and explained to Lisa that I was moving out. She argued with me about my move out date and also refused to check me out by inspecting the unit and making sure my lock was removed. She even threaten to call the police on me. Who treats customers this way who have been with you for 10 years. I feel she was lazy and didn't want to take the walk. After this move out experience, poor service and the rising rates I would not rent or recommend Imperial Beach Self Storage to anyone. Just documenting my real experience. read more

90% of the times I have called in I was greeted by a recording that stated they were out with a customer, and to leave a message. Problem is, their mailbox is always full...so I am unable to leave a message. I have been with this organization since the 1983, and when their is an issue I am treated poorly. I had to re-write a cheque once because "they lost it", and another time because they had been robbed. I needed them to work with me concerning a liability insurance issue...and they were unwilling to work with me. I accommodated them twice, I have been with them over 40 years, and they are unwilling to work with me. read more

Highly recommend this storage company. First of all, it's a small business, run by regular people and not some giant mega-layered corporation. It's got security for each unit so strict that you must enter your code to open the gate every time you drive in to stop your unit alarm from going off when you open your unit door. I rented a storage unit here for several years. Back in January I let them know it would be my last month and I would be out by end of month as there was water damage in my storage unit from all the heavy rain. They told me as long as I was out by the end of the month come February I would not be charged my storage fees. On the last day of January, I called them to tell them everything was out of the unit and to confirm that as of February 1 I would not be charged $224, which was my monthly rate. The one that works in the office Steve, told me I would not be charged for the month of February as my stuff was already cleaned out of the storage. Come February 1, I was charged $224. I called a few days later after I had seen it was on my bank statement and spoke with Anna in the office who told me the account wasn't closed out and that's why it was charged. I have called several times over the last few months and have continuously spoke with Steve and Anna in regards to this matter. It has now been four months since the original charge of $224 was taken out of my account when it was supposed to have not been charged. They still have not refunded me my money. On the many occasions I have spoke with Steve in the office, he has told me he has been in communication with the district manager by the name of Becky Pyle via in person, via phone calls and via email. According to Steve, she only issues checks on the first of every month. Every month since February, I have called to get an update on my refund. I have been told month after month that she can't do it for some reason or another. Again, this is now 4 months since they took it out. I told Steve that their has to be someone handling her affairs if she is out, someone still has to pay the bills and deal with the business. He said it's only her and apparently I will not see my money anytime soon. I will be reporting them to the better business bureau and at this point filing a claim with small claims court. The staff here are very incapable when it comes to offering any support, for customers or new clients. If you don't care about that, then go for it, other than that, don't expect much from them. They made a mistake on billing, completely not my fault. Peter acknowledged the error, but kept sending me in circles and providing absolutely no apology for their error, saying I should have double-checked (that's how I found the error, after looking at my statement...). After 4 months now, I still have not received the money overdrawn, and will be taking to small claims court. I immediately cancelled my contract and ate the fee which they did not re-imburse considering the situation (shocker). I hope no one else has to deal with this type of inconvenience, as it is actually the most ridiculous thing I have ever encountered, and for no reason too... sigh... read more

Make a reservation online and talk to a lady on the phone upon my late move in and she said no problem she'll take a note and make sure it's available when i get there. Then we get there and she was like oh I'm sorry my bad i forgot and rent it to somebody else..really lady you gonna do me like that? It's your mistake and now i have to pay extra for a 10 by 15?!? No that's not gonna happened. When you do business it's important to keep your promise with the customers. Moving is a hassle and these kind of awful services with people don't know how to do properly business will cost you lots of time and money! Stay away from this storage. read more

The woman who works here (maria) is mess.. She is nice but very incompetent. A monkey could do her job better. She told me one thing on the phone then another in person. Almost every time I go to pay my bill I leave frustrated. I can't wait to get my stuff out of there so I don't have to see that woman again. I can't deal with her simple mind anymore. That company finds any excuse to charge you extra fees. When I want an explanation of course maria doesn't know how to explain anything. I have had countless bad experiences with her so I wrote a letter to management and I never got a response or anything. I tell my friends and family not to store there stuff there. Resently got kicked out of my house and my family became homeless and put 23years worth of stuff in storages all over and came across this place. The storages are very clean good priced and the staff it's wonderful, they were very nice let us vent and talked with my family and worked with us. We ended up moving the other storages to this place. I highly recommend storing with this place they have worked with us from the beginning and they are so great. read more

My mom has a broken foot and he drove us to the unit, so we could see the size, in a golf cart. We were selling our home, and had to get it "staged ready". I needed to store 10 years of accumulation fast. I called other storage facilities, but this one was the best in the area. This Facility is Gated has 24hrs Security Camera's and best of all each unit is individually alarmed. Very cleaned and safe Facility.

I first saw this storage place on group on. The deal was 30$ a month for a 5x5 space. When I came in customer service was great, the lady was very helpful and Becky the manager told me she'd give me my storage for the group on price at a fixed rate. Little did I know that 6 months later the storage place doubled my payment to 60$ a month. The new receptionist was rude and lied to me about still having the offer on group on. The deal was supposedly only good for 6 months but no where on group on does it say that (which she stated was on there) and no where on my contract says it either. The least they could've done was tell me that my contract was only good for 6 months; that way I'm not surprised with a notice of my storage unit being raised.. or may be I shouldve been more thorough and read the contract about somewhere raising my rate whenever they feel like it, that's just the way it all goes I guess and just FYI measured the inside of the space and it's actually smaller than a 5x5. So before you rent here I suggest you read very carefully and measure your space. read more

I never intended to store anything anywhere ever again but unfortunately ended up with several units unexpectedly.Due to those circumstances I did not choose this facility it was chosen for me and at that time my family had units at another facility Gilbert Self Storage that I had not entered in years.There are numerous minor inparticulars that I don't prefer about this facility such as layout and wood floors as opposed to cement but Peter the resident manager and his female assistant are so nice,understanding and helpful that I have kept these units instead of relocating elsewhere just due to that cause that is a major factor.I ended up moving possessions of mine from the Gilbert Storage facility to this facility recently because Mary Ann the manager of Gilbert Storage although she appears to be just great she is in fact far from that she is a mentally unstable,behavior unpredictable obviously either drug alcahol or mental illness affected customer abuser she throughout the last decade has treated me and numerous other tenants horribly so I definitely would recommend Imperial Beach Storage absolutely read more
