The first thing that you will see when you enter is a very nice smile and a quick "How are you?" When you are seated, the wait staff is very quick to take your order for drinks and off you go. The buffet selection is very good and varied. They also have the sushi bar and hibachi which is included in their very reasonable prices. I have been there a number of times, and I have NEVER had a bad experience with either the food or the staff. Everything has always been fresh and delicious. I have taken several people there and no one has ever had a negative comment about this place. I have been a customer for a while now and I intend to continue being a customer. Excellent food. Today I arrived at 3:24pm for lunch. Lunch prices good till 3:30pm. The gentleman at the counter pointed to the clock and said its 3:30pm. As buffets go, this one is really good. They even have HUGE King Crab legs that are served hot and steaming with lots of melted butter. I always leave here feeling fat and happy, and that's the way all buffets should be. :) Their sushi is okay, not phenomenal, but that's why there are sushi places. read more

Great place. I have been coming here since they opened in 1998. The place has declined a bit. It would be nice if they updated the interior. The sushi is very good. This is the only place where i eat the sushi. Their buffet ia good but they tend to serve the same items. All the staff is very friendly and very nice to me and my children. read more

My wife and I decided to try this place since we were both very hungry and passing by on our way home. We should have kept going. I usually like buffets and especially ones that have sushi. I LOVE sushi. Unfortunately this is one establishment that we will not be returning to. As we entered we were immediately greeted and seated by a friendly woman. The waitress followed behind us and asked for our drink order as soon as we sat down. Was actually impressed.....until we went for food. As a longtime sushi fanatic I B-lined for the sushi. I noticed that the fish and other materials for assembly were left out on the counter (unchilled and uncovered) and there was no one around. As a general food practice this is a no-no. My brain told me to stop but my stomach begged me to continue. The selection was varied (more than your typical spicy tuna roll, California roll, etc.) so I made a few selections and headed back to the table. The sushi was AT BEST room temperature if not slightly warm. I was unable to finish it which was a HUGE disappointment. I decided to give the rest of the menu a fair shot as I've run into this problem before (although not with most sit down true Japanese restaurants). The imitation crab was rubbery and drenched in some type of oil. The "Terriaki chicken" sticks had been sitting out way too long and were firm and dry. Not even sure they were chicken. There was a steak and mushroom dish that LOOKED delicious until it was determined that it was actually cold (not intentionally). The only item that my wife could stomach was the chicken tenders and for the cost of almost $50 for 2 adults and a 12 y/o we could have gone across the street to McDonalds for better food. I think next time we will drive the extra 10 minutes and go to the Royal Buffet on the other side of Waterbury. read more

Ok I have been to Imperial China Buffet before. Great atmosphere and not a long wait on a very busy Friday night. I am not a fan of presenting bad news because I do not enjoy demeaning any business. All I will do is state what I saw and experienced tonight 3/14/14. The Men's restroom was something I would expect at a cheap gas station. Upon leaving the restroom I questioned if there could be any connection with the food. Again I am only stating what I saw and observered and in the imitation crab meat there was some kind of a worm. Went here in September. It was okay. Nothing too spectacular. It really is hard to eat healthy here though. There are only a few healthy items and they were mostly drowning in butter or oil. The sushi simply wasn't good (which was not surprising). I mainly ate seafood (mostly shell-based fish) and for the most part it was fine. A tad pricey though, but okay. Atmosphere..meh..there really isn't much. Would I go back? Maybe 1-2 times a year, but not much more. read more

Quantity but definitely not quality. Chilled shrimp are tasteless. Crab legs rubbery and tasteless also. Regular dishes are reheated and overly salty. This place is probably good for people who never experienced good Chinese food or who want to just fill up on anything at a cheap price. read more

Not a huge fan of Buffets. And when I told my folks that I wanted to eat Chinese, I was hoping they were going to take me to Panda House in Danbury, which is my favorite. When we pulled up to this place, I was perplexed, because they feel the same way about the buffets. However, I was stunned. I'd never seen so much food on a buffet outside of Las Vegas. Just about anything you can think of, they had. And it was all good. Not to mention, they also had a Mongolian style BBQ, where they will cook you food fresh and it's all part of the meal. First of all, I'm upset to write this review. My boyfriend and I really enjoyed coming to this place and the food was good but after what happened last night we will not be returning. We ate our dinner-with no complaints- and also paid the bill-exact change. As soon as we stood up from our table, a waitress ran up to me and asked me why I didn't leave a tip on the table. What she didn't know is that I only had a $20 bill on me and needed to break it for change. Since when do waitresses accost customers about a tip? When I brought it up to the manager, she seemed disinterested and also asked why I did not leave a tip. In all honesty, I do not have to leave a tip and really did not want to after that. She got her tip, $2 out of a $30 bill, and grabbed it from me and shoved it into her pocket and walked away. No other table was approached in this manner either. I'm very upset by this and will not be returning to this restaurant ever again. Customers should not be treated this way. read more

I like this place, the selection is great, there's a lot for the kids, (non-chinese) it's very cheap, the sushi is good. one thing- I had a party in their "room" and I tipped 15% on the credit card. The waitresses were very angry. Why? Do they not get the credit card tip? who carries cash anymore? I felt very uncomfortable afterwards, because I get the service thing. and it's not like you can discuss it with them, they don't have great English skills, which is why they are waiting tables! read more

A solid choice with good value. Not the best Chinese food compared to other sit down restaurants but great for a buffet.also good alcohol selection. The one thing I would recommend is going there for lunch which is seven bucks with a drink whereas dinner is 13 for the same selection. Has declined slightly in the past few years. read more

This buffet has been here for years. I used to go all the time as their food always seemed very good. But I think the more I branched out and found more varities of hibachi and sushi, the more my taste for this place went downhill. I used to LOVE their sushi, I came here awhile back after trying various amounts of sushi and I was so turned off that I ended up throwing out the whole plate of food. They have your typical chinese food that in all reality is hard to mess up. The food is good, just nothing I would brag home about. I think with the recent opening of Sakura across the street, this is when they added the hibachi to the menu. I didn't try it the last time I was there, but my boyfriend did and he said it was pretty good. Nothing to extraordinary though. I feel like this place really kinda slacks now and seems to be barely holding on. I got sick after I ate here the last time. I don't know if it was the food that didn't settle right or what. I would go here if I absolutely was craving Chinese food and couldn't get anywhere else but it won't be on my number 1 place to go when I'm starving. read more

Imperial China Buffet is what you should expect. The restaurant is clean and the food is plentiful. They also include sushi and hibachi included in the buffet. The waitresses are lovely and willing to do just about any reasonable request. It's a great place for those who don't want to be just stuck getting one type from a regular Chinese takeout. I've been eating here at least once a week since I moved to the area over 5 years ago. I've turned my entire family onto this place and my roommates, friends and family. They're take out prices are unbeatable. The owner Jimmy is probably the nicest most down to earth guy I've ever met. The sushi and food is always great, which for buffet places is usually hard to do. A lot of what they have is beyond the generic Chinese buffet options and the new Hibachi grill they added lets you pick and choose what you want made right in front of your eyes. read more
