Really disappointed with this jeweler. I purchased a $349 ring that I was told was white gold, but within a few months it wore down to the point that the edges became sharp enough to cut the skin between my fingers. When I contacted the store to get a record of my purchase, they couldn't even find the transaction due to their outdated system. That alone is concerning, but combined with the poor quality of the ring, it makes me seriously question whether I was sold real white gold at all. My first time here and I couldn't be happier with the service I received today. I brought in a couple watches to have a link or two removed as well as battery replaced, and this is how it went. Nancy was the sales associate that helped me. I put the watch on and showed her the fit. She told me that resizing the watch band would be $15 dollars, and I said great. She took the watch and had the battery checked as well as reinstalled the back (which I couldn't press back on myself) and had them take out 1 link. I tried it on, and it was still too big, so she happily took it back and had them remove a 2nd link to which it fit perfectly. She then said that there would be NO CHARGE and 'thanked me' for coming in! She handed me a business card and said that she hoped to earn my future business. I will definitely be back. I walked in mid day on a week day. I was the only customer there to seek an estimate for a repair. The two employees I engaged could not be less interested in exhibiting customer service. They were cold, short and one actually shrugged (as in, "oh, well. You that's your choice!") when I was seeking clarification about being required to leave my jewelry to get an estimate. (There are jewelers on site, the workroom is visible from the showroom and "manufacturing" is in their advertising.) This experience was closer to a visit to a DMV than a high end retail establishment. Believe the comments in the other low ratings. What a shame. IJ used to have a very good reputation. read more

They were to put my diamond in a new setting. Replace it since over 26 years one prong was missing and two orders very thin. The new setting looks different, shorter thst what I had. There's also a small divet where an opal will be replaced from when they removed the opal to do the setting. Only reason for 3 stars is at least they didn't make me pay for part of it. I love Imperial Jewelers because they are trustworthy. They fixed my engagement ring 20 years ago, then resized it 13 years ago, and have cleaned it and cared for it. I'd like to start by saying that I grew up going to this business. I had wonderful experiences prior to this. But what happened to me is so bad, that everything else is negated. We gave them a design idea and my own jewels to create a wedding ring in November and ended up with a design that was not even close to what we had asked for. Then when we asked for it to be reworked, they were annoyed. The staff member, Karen, was rude and dismissive. It was sent off several different times to different casters who couldn't make the ring. When I asked for a refund I was laughed at. And when I finally was able to go pick up my jewels, they did not address me and made me wait for over 5 minutes when I was the only customer in the store and treated me like a stranger. My fiance and I came in looking for wedding rings and they helped us get exactly what we wanted without making us feel bad for not wanting to spend an arm and a leg on rings. The selection is not huge, since this place is not like a Robbins Bros. or some other large jewelry retailer, however, they are more than willing to take the time to talk to you about what you want and help you find the perfect item. I wanted a simple white gold wedding band, and we found it for $200. My guy wanted a tungsten ring with some detailing and his was less than $150. That leaves us with some extra dough for the honeymoon. Yay! My eyes were drawn to some really cool earrings and bracelets while I was there. Only thing I thought was weird was I had my prongs fixed and then they cleaned and dipped it for me which was $40 but I wanted my band dipped to which was 50$ that didn't make since. I will always love this place! This store saved me from throwing thousands of dollars down the drain when they told me the diamond my husband purchased for my engagement ring was not what he paid for. They didn't even care I didn't get my engagement ring from them, they just wanted to make sure I didn't get ripped off. Totally awesome of them. They have lots of custom jewelry which is beyond gorgeous. I have OCD, so sometimes I notice when a prong is slightly off kilter (which kills me) and I know this stuff is custom so you should give them somewhat of a break but I just can't so I skip on some items. Because they are custom the items can be pretty pricey at times but I have found lots of good deals in this place. Horrible customer service. I had store credit so I took some things in to be fixed and the woman could not answer any of my questions so she kept going to ask some other lady. You would think the woman in the back would have come out and spoke to me but never did. They would not give me an estimate to fix a bracelet they told me they had no to call me later. What is that?! While I was there another who had waitress for her ring to get fixed for weeks came in again because they made it worse and the ring was cutting into her finger! I decided not to leave my things and use my credit to purchase something. I asked the woman for a ruby in my credit price range and she told me well look around. They did not have any rubies so I bought something else and when she was done she said to me, "ok sign this so I can help this lady." Note: this review is based on a visit 3-4 months ago. I went in to have a couple of rings sized, and needed to have my husbands wedding band re-finished. It's a white gold brushed ring, and the brushing (i've discovered) wears off over time. Tried Dave Schneiders in LB, and they did good work, but were super expensive, but more to follow in my review of them. Anyway, showed up, dropped off my rings, got a quote that was about 1/3 of what other places had charged and it would be ready the next day. Picked up the rings with no issue, the staff was very friendly, knowledgable, and helpful. Will definitely be bringing my jewelry back here for future repair and cleaning. I took a quick glance around their jewelry selection, and they seemed to have a lot of variety, but since I wasn't shopping, I didn't pay too much attention. I had the misfortune to get my hand in between a very large horse hitting a gate and a steel door. My hand lost, but was saved from the crushing injury by my wedding set, which took the brunt of the force. After visiting the ER and having the rings cut off, I was crushed, my wedding set was utterly ruined. I took my mangled rings to Imperial Jewelry to see what, if anything, could by done. Truly, I expected to hear total loss and/or huge expense. The jeweler took a look at the rings and thought he could make them whole again, the work ticket was quite extensive, and I was worried about cost. To my pleasant surprise, the estimate was extremely reasonable, and I ok'd the fix. When I got the call my ring were ready, I was really only hoping they were again semi-circular, the shock I received when they were taken out of the envelope absolutely took my breath away. They were gorgeous! Better than new!!! I was unable to speak, my mouth just kept gaping, and frankly, I am sure I looked like a fish and I did not care, my rings look amazing!! The actual cost was slightly different than my estimate, it was lower!! I will never, ever, go anywhere else for any jewelry repair. I only wish I was able to give more stars in my rating, because they deserve it. read more

This place has been passed down through my family ever since my grandparents lived in Rossmoor, my Grandma Helen and Mom Maggie both had beautiful jewelry and took them there for repairs and even after my grandparents no longer lived there my Mom always went back there. I can personally vouch that the rave reviews of other customers below are very true and they have performed very much the same things for me and my family members as well, and now that I have only my memories and a few special jewels from my Mom and Grandma they are even more important to me because many of the same people are still working there even after more than 25 years (I think?) and even remember my mom when I go in. Several years ago they were able to craft my 2 small multi-diamond engagement rings (we had an unconventional "engagement"!) from my husband together with my grandmother's delicate 1930's white gold wedding band with diamonds all around it into a very meaningful and beautiful wedding set that I can wear comfortably every day that also protects my grandmothers ring. Recently I was wearing it when I probably shouldn't have been and discovered I had cracked the shank and they not only repaired it completely invisibly but also reinforced it and I can even still read the inscription from my grandpa to my grandma & their wedding date! It was also thoroughly cleaned and polished to blinding brilliance and all at what to me was an amazingly reasonable price and an excellent value even if all they had done was the cleaning! You cannot go wrong with this jeweler, whether you are having your precious heirlooms cared for and maintained, lovingly redesigned into something very personally meaningful, unique and beautiful or purchasing one of their own amazing offerings! I've taken two pieces of jewelry here to be repaired and they do great work! They do their repairs on site so you don't have to wait 2 to 3 weeks to get your item back! The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable! But here's the thing I really was impressed with! I wanted to purchase charms for my bracelet and with the price of gold as high as it is right now, they encouraged me to take my unused gold chains, rings, etc and have them melted into a charm! They could have easily sold me one of their charms from the catalog and added their mark-up to it but instead decided to try to keep a life long customer by offering this suggestion. Having been to several local jewelry shops in the Long Beach/ Los Alamitos area, and left thoroughly unimpressed, Imperial has become my go-to place for all of my jewelry needs. While many local stores send out all of their sizing/custom work, Imperial does it on sight, which I appreciate. I first visited the shop looking to have an antique cameo ring sized down, and the setting tightened. The sales woman was knowledgeable, and quoted me an extremely fair price. I could not have been happier with the quality of the work, and my ring now fits perfectly, with the cameo tight and protected. I was so pleased with their work that I came back to have a custom ring made. I requested a simple hammered band to be made from the gold of my late grandfather's bracelet, and they produced a gorgeous, heavy band for just over $100. I also appreciated that they only took as much gold as they would need and left me with the rest of the bracelet, as other shops wanted the entire thing. My wife lost her stone in a custom ring. I went to the Jewelry Exchange in Tustin and they said that they could not work on it because the ring was too complex and they did not want to be responsible if there was damage from applying the torch to replace the mount. I took the ring to Imperial Jewelers and they confirmed that they could fix it. The sales person explained the process and showed me that the other diamond mount was very worn down and would soon lose the big diamond. They quoted the fix price for both mounts at $185. I did purchase the single diamond from the Jewelry Exchange, but Imperial Jewelers mounted it. They told me one week. And right on the day, today, they called me to say that it is ready. When I got there, the price was the quoted price and not any more. As a bonus, they offered to clean my wedding band free of charge. Very honest, very friendly and beautiful work!!
